Sony Ericsson T300 User Reviews

Improve Battery efficiency..........
Apr 24, 2003 08:16 PM2907 Views

Hi guys,

This is a review on T100 but not T300. I have put it up over here, as I have already written one review on T100 and not able to edit it.

In the first few days after I purchased SE T100, purely out of enthusiasm I gave it full marks. Now the other side of the story..

The battery performance of this handset was really poor. It was not even lasting till I reach home in the evening.. But managed to improve it by following some simple steps and changing some settings and now after a few months its coming for two days..full..

These things you too can do and make your T100 battery last longer. The biggest culprit that’s eating away the battery power is its bright blue back light. (Yesterday I used it as a torch light during a power failure).

a)So, the first and foremost thing you have to do is not to use the light in day times. (very effective)

b)Don’t use any background picture.

c)Keep the contrast level at ’3’ (optimum)

Settings -> display -> contrast

d)Don’t always keep in vibrator mode. Use this only when you really need.

--> For vibrator feature, there are three options

1) On if silent.

2) off.

3) on.

Select ’off’ not ’on if silent’. The problem with the latter is that the set vibrates even when you get the balance talk value information after every call. (Ofcourse not there in some providers like bsnl, where you don’t get balance details automatically)

e)Remove screensaver/ ’’turn on’’ animation/ ’’turn off’’ animation.

==> you might be liking some of these features and may not want to turn them off. But you have to give up these things in order to keep your phone working till you get back home in the evening. And these are all just my observations, which seem to be working very effectively. There were days, when I was very much angry on myself for buying this set without enquiring much. But now no problem.

When to Charge the battery and for how much time?

This is another mystery regarding T100. The prime reason behind this being a bug in the firmware of the chip because of which the battery is not indicated to be full even just after charging.. You can get this rectified from any authorised service center (Salora international) though not necessary.

OVERNIGHT CHARGING -- complete no no..

This set needs at max 3 hours of charging and starts discharging (according to my observation) after that even if it is still plugged to power supply.

So, best time to charge is in the morning for 2 - 2 1/2 hours everyday. After a few days you will definitely see the improvement and from then on you will be charging it only once on every alternative day.

So, all those unhappy Sony Ericsson 100 users over there, Cheer up.

There is one more feature which silently eats up battery charge. That is the LED that indicates signal availability. If you see in dark/night you can see how bright it flashes. This is a redundant feature as there is already one signal level indicator on the display. This feature does not exists in many (almost all) models of other brands. But we can’t do anything for it. If you still want to save that power as well then take a small pointed object and break that LED. (Just kidding... as you know)

THIS WAS MY OLD REVIEW

(Seems we can’t write two reviews on the same product. rightly so)

i recently purchased this beautiful little handset and I love it.. My choice was pretty simple.. .din’t even look at many other handsets.. I like its shape, style.. and having uniform thickness.. getting a set so sleek and lovely and weighing only 75 gms for 6400/- with bill.... there is no other way to do it.. than to buy this T100. Don’t underestimate its performance too.. its doing very well.. good reception quality.. and other features like composing, downloading ringtones.. and pictures.. is also nice.. above all the blue back light makes it more attractive... and the good and organized user interface menu..

my suggestion : just buy it..

Gurgaon INDIA
Good Phone with Nice Features

Hi! All

I bought this phone from Delhi in November 1st week and used it first with an Idea connection.currently I am using it with a RPG connection in chennai.

Advantages

1) Colour Phone with joystick in 13-14K(with bill)

2) Camera can be attached ( Rider:Cost of Camera Vs Quality of Picture)which means MMS capability

3) Phone book stores multiple entries with diff symbol for home, work and mobile numbers . Also stores Email address. Memory is good (250 addresses on the phone itself)

4) Excellent Predictive Text (T9)( after sometimes guesses hindi words also )

5) Tri band with WAP and GPRS enabled( Helpful if u r going to US)

6) Lot of other small nice features.

7) Standby time is ok ( gaming drains the battery)

Disadvantage

1) It has Small Hard Keys (U will get used to them still....)(problem if u r too much into SMS)

2) Bland Looks.

3) I Have lost my phone book once while changing Sim Card. retrieved it by transferring to sim and then again copying back to Phone.)

4) Sometimes gives errors while using infrared for Transfer of numbers

5) The website doesn't respond to Queries.

6) Original hands free was not available when I bought the phone. Right Now I do not know whats the status.

Overall I am happy with the phone could have been better. but in its price range this is the best thing that appealed to me. Personally I would suggest this phone is suitable for people who are not looking for top of the line models(20k) but would like to have the latest features and want personal satisfaction from the phone rather than gains from show off.

You can Mail me for any specific Questions.

Cheers
