THE BEST RECEPTION!!!!!
Jun 04, 2003 04:14 AM 2130 Views

This phone reception is @#$%ing awesome. The reception is amazing. Even out in Abbotsford I still get good reception!!!

Only downside is the user interface is sloooooow and it conks out at odd times.

If you want excellent connectivity and best reception, go for Sony Ericsson's T206. It's the best. Even down 2 basement level that's all concrete.

Too bad there's no FREE downloadable ringtones like the Nokias...

You can customize pics in the phone too...but it's tedious and there's no software to run on the computer to link up with your phone to customize the pics or ringtones. Now if only the other Sony Ericsson phone series have good reception as the T206. And I wish the T206 has color screen like the other phones....and digital cam like the Nokia....

sigh... only in my dreams....sigh

The Worst Cell Phone I've Ever Owned!!!
Mar 03, 2003 12:05 AM 5628 Views

This is not a great cell phone - it sucks!!! Ive had mine for about 2 months and the battery doesnt hold a charge at all, whats worse is it's impossible to find an upgraded one.

I am in the cell phone industry (I've owned at least 5 phones in the last 3 years including nokia, motorola and ericsson) and I got this phone because it was new and I was having screen problems with the kyocera that metro pcs initially offered, so I bought it. Scrolling through the phone book is slowwwwwwww, every function is followed by a pause, entering a name and number is time consuming, when calling someone from the missed call list, you dont know which of their phones you are calling, and alot of other functions and features that stink, but the worst is the battery and yes, I know how to charge and condition a battery. I should have waited until the audiovox 8500 came out with metro.

sorry sorry sorry!!

I love my T206
Jan 26, 2003 07:00 PM 3737 Views

I purchased my phone from US Cellular. The promo phone was the Motorola V120 line...which I hate (talk about cheap quality). I originally purchased the phone because I liked the way it looked and I like Sony products. I have always carried Nokia phones (which the US Cellular store I went to did not carry) and was skeptical about trying another brand. Before purchasing my phone I did my research online. At the Sony Ericsson website you are actually able to try out any of their phones online before you buy it...totally cool. Great reception, easy to use menu, et al, I LOVE THIS PHONE!

Best Telus CDMA phone ever
Dec 17, 2002 01:51 PM 10313 Views

I've never liked the clamshell phones offered by Telus so when the Sony Ericsson T206 came out what the heck I gave it a try. Although not a big fan of Ericsson initially, I reluctantly gave up my Nokia 3390 for the world of CDMA due to Fido's limited GSM coverage in Canada.

What I like about this phone:

  • High resolution display with font size selection

  • Tri-mode 1900 MHz CDMA / 800 MHz CDMA / 800 MHz Amps

  • Multiple numbers for individual contacts

  • SMS

  • Voice activated dialing for 20 contacts (works like a charm)

  • Autolock on keypad (no more unintentional dialups)

  • Alarm clock with recurrent alarm

  • Vibrating alert

  • Great reception and voice quality

  • Compact size (but not too small that I can only hold the phone with 2 fingers)

  • Ability to assign images and ringtones for contacts

  • Internal antenna doesn't jab my leg when the phone is in my pants

What I dislike:

  • The phone is a little fat compared to my Nokia 3390

  • Menu not as easy to use as the Nokia line

  • Cover is creaky probably due to the fact that it's interchangeable

  • Small buttons probably meant for girlish fingers

  • Battery time shorter than advertised

  • The off/on button is hard to press

  • Games are lame

  • Call list can be a little confusing as incoming and outgoing calls are bundled together

After 2 weeks with this phone I must say that I am very impressed with the quality and features of this phone. For a phone that only costs $129 Canadian, it sure is a great value. I can only hope that Sony Ericsson will continue to roll out excellent CDMA phones like this in the future. I have always been envious of their GSM lineup.

I can talk forever!

So, I finally made my decission between pre-paid or monthly for a cell phone. I went with Metro PCS which is a combination of both. $35.00 per month in state, unlimited and 5 cents a minute pre-paid for all long distance.

They offered a few different phones with that particular service and I checked them out and tried them all and decided on the Sony-Ericsson T206

I liked it because it was quite small (it can be hidden in the palm of my hand) and also because it had no external antenna.

It has 7 main indexes. Phonebook...Where you can store umpteen phone numbers with 1 touch dialing.

Messages....Where you can get voicemail, caller ID, call waiting. And options (for an additional fee) such as chat and e-mail.

Call Info....This lists missed calls, timers and lists of the people you've called and people who have called you.

Settings....Here you can alter the ring sounds. Add music to your incoming calls, add voice command calling, the language you want the phone to respond to,time and date, networks, etc.

Extras......Voice memos, where you can leave yourself vocal memos about appointments, etc. A calendar, calculator, stopwatch, alarm clock, picture options for your screens and even some pre programed games.

Browser.....Where you can activate the internet (additional fee).

My shortcuts. This is where you can customize the ring volume and the incoming sound volume plus many other things I haven't even explored yet.

Microsoft windows is already downloaded so it makes it very easy to access.

The screen is a bit small though, about 1 1/2 inches by 1 1/2 inches. But the icons are pretty easy to see. (Even for someone like me who doesn't have the best vision)

The battery holds enough power to allow for 2-3 hours of talk time and 24 hours of standby without recharging. From what I hear, that's pretty good on a cell phone.

And speaking of batteries. The phone comes with a home base battery charger, a car battery charger, a leather carry case and ''button'' ear phones.

So far, so good. The reception I've been getting is really pretty good, except when you're inside stores with a lot of electronic equipment. (I don't know the reason for that).

You can also purchase a hands-free headset with a contraption to hook up to the dashboard of your car. If you combine that with your voice command dialing, you can actually talk and drive with less distraction. (I personally let my calls go to voicemail if I'm in traffic).

So, my friends, for $159.00, I now have peace of mind in case of emergencies. $35.00 per month unlimited and 5 cents a minute long distance..good deal....GREAT PHONE!

Now back to mySony Ericsson T206 to find some more neat features!
