The only way to experience Sony CMD J6 is to have it in your pocket. You will feel the difference with this handset. It may sound unfair to Nokia Fan's but it is true. You get value for your money with Sony J6. It's astonishing features are more than enough to turn you up with a smile and it's polyphonic ringtones will add topping on your smile. WAP enabled makes it outstanding in it's class. None of the competitors cells have the feature like J6. Jog dial feature will make you cell trotter. I am quite unhappy to know that Sony discontinued this model. Some disadvantages of this are dim light of screen and low volume of tones. Network may be a problem once a while, but not sure if it is specific to this set.

I happened to see this mobile with one of my friends and loved it's interface so much that I didn't looked at any other option. Single Jog Dial Control through which you can control all the interface.it is having support for Loudspeaker, hands free kit and voice recording. Its Ring Tones are something special. In all, Its a good mobile worth its price. Its calculator is something which I like most. Its Interface is designed by Microsoft, so user friendliness is guaranteed. It is small mobile but with big features.Support all the features for Text entry. It has got full support for WAP, SMTP EMail Access and other Advanced features.
My first phone and may be the last that I ever will purchase. a complete phone in itself with all that a person ever will need for another 2-3 years to come. you ask wap its there you as sms its there you ask fo picture sms its there.
and the best part is that the ring tones that wake you up you look forward for incomming calls...the dictionary with the option running down the screen tell you in advance what to expect and not like nokia where you keep guessing when will the right word will show up.
with the internet explorer from ms integrated you internet surfing is like a breeze and with support to pop mails you dont need anything further.
shecdules alrams and much more what more do you want...it better to call it a palmtop integrated with mobile...i just love my j6 to the extend that will never trade it for anything....
YOUR RATING ON
Sony CMD J6 can be easily categorized in the Light Featherweight category of Cell Phones. What attracted me to the product was its appeal. Very appealing compared to other models and also sophisticated. The jog dial (rotating button for accessing menus..) was a cool feature and also it has some very nice tunes. All with a japanese touch. But as far as longevity is concerned..this piece is not bound to last long. It is not as sturdy as a Nokia 3310. Every time it falls down you get the message on screen..INSERT SIM card !! What the hell man ?? Can't it keep a miniature sim card intact ?? Second disadvantage, is its charge holding capacity. Takes 3-4 hours to charge but lasts only 1 to 1.5 days at most. Cannot also download any new tunes as that feature, I think, is available in Sony Erricson models only. The worst is the clock. Gets reset whenever I keep it switched off for more than 2 hours. God knows why ?! Initially looks good in one's palm, but gradually the overall performance goes down with time. This is my review after full 1 year of usage. Today is the 1st anniversary of my Sony CMD J6. These kinds of miniature electronic items, made by big japanese companies, work better in and only in Japan. But the Indian lifestyle requires something strong, efficient and rigid enough for frequent day to day usage. Maybe thats why Nokia is still the No 1
It was the time when dad was sick and I was looking out for a cell phone. I was banking on the ever popular Nokia 3310 when I happened to come across the J6. for me the most appealing feature was the unique rotating interface (which quite resembles the tomb raider interface) plus it was priced at a lower rate than the 3310. so I decided to take it up...well lets say I am definitely not disappointed with it.
the best features of this phone is the JOG DIAL. it makes life a whole lot easier. other features include the maxed out memory for storing a whole lot of names and numbers and my personal fav the ringtone recorder.(my girlfriend sings to me whenever my phone rings now!!!!)
well the minuses would be the antenna and the really soft preset melodies for the phone. the max volume also leaves you struggling to realise that the phone is ringing.
otherwise the phone is a real cool piece of equipment...i love mine.
For the price of Rs 5000/- its an ok mobile but I personaly do not like its looks (looks ugly) long phone and long antenna.neither its ringing tone. The ringing tones is not ideal for an office. couple of good features in it. for eg the recording, and if I am not mistaken it has an mp3 playback and does not have a vibration mode. You cannot download ringtones neither can you customize ring tones does
I prefer any of the nokia, samsung and the recent sony-ericson. these phones are great and sleek. Todays models are sleek and should be able to carry in the pocket(for gents) as there are lot of mobiles which are being stolen.
OK these phones cost you more, but as a one time investment why not buy the best with all features, like infrared, data suite connectivity, blue tooth etc. Dont you agree.
Sony J6 was my second mobile, bought 8 months back. Compared to my old Motorola T300, this phone is like driving a Zen after having driven a truck. Its extremely light and an equally good finish. When I bought this mobile, I had to choose b/w Nokia 3310 and Sony J6, because both the sets were available for the same price. I feel Nokia is charging a premium for its brand, which is kind not justified and not worth the extra money. One may feel cheated with the kind of battery Nokia is providing with the 3310.
I just couldnot resist the looks of this phone. When you switch on this mobile, it opens with a user friendly menu, all driven by a single roller.
The ring tones are also a treat to the ears, unlike with Nokia, which has the normal ring tones only. The battery life in my case is 4-5 days as I'm not a heavy user of the phone.
If your budget is approximately Rs 5000, just like a lot of people including myself, this phone certainly makes a lot of sense.
Its not my style to review a product by giving the weight and features which can be found on any site but as this is the first review about the sony j60 and as I like this mobile so much.......i will do anything to convince evryone how cool this cell is....so here I go......... --------------------------------------------------------------------
Weight 82 g Dimensions 123 x 43 x 20 mm Size 96 x 92 pixels, 6 lines - 4 shades of gray - Advanced Jog Dial Ringtones 27 (Ringtones can be assigned to phonebook entries.......cool) Vibration-In phone Numbers in phone 500 - Message templates - Several phonebook groups SMS Send/Receive Clock Yes Alarm Yes Data 14400 bps Games 4 - Bannanas, PicPuz, MindBlaster, SandArt - WAP - HTML Web browser (MS) - POP3/SMTP email - T9 - Calculator - Scheduler --------------------------------------------------------------------
so this was all about the features of this cell.....its a very sweet looking cell and the jog dial makes it stand out from the crowd......but then one should seriously give a thought if he would like to go in for this cell as you might find the jog dial to be a pain to the.........hand!! butthe jog dial is the thing which makes the interface look so amazingly different and ya.......so cool but personally I find this cell easier to operate than the panasonics.......... the battery will easily last for 2 days............ typing an sms is as simple as it can get......infact I find it simpler than I did on my nokia 3210..... one feature which really makes this cell rock is that one can record sounds and keep them as ringtones......so now u need neither would have to ask a friend for a ringtone and others wont have to guess which tone you have....... just imagine having a new song as your ringtone everyday........any song!!!!!......infact not just a song........from your pet dog's barking to your girl friend's sweet voice.............maybe i'm just getting a little carried away :-) the games in this cell are pretty decent too.........bananas is a nice game and different than just going round and eating apples!!!!!!!! so thats it guys, this cell is as hot as a cell can get....... and at Rs.5500(maximum) its the best deal in the market.....i would recommend it over the nokia 3310 which comes in the same price bracket... (p.s. if the antenna is the thing you dont like,go for the sony cmd j70 at Rs.7800)
