Panasonic GD92 User Reviews

I am still having it
Nov 14, 2008 09:37 PM 3927 Views

Bought it for 6600 in 2001 and still using it with same battery thogh battery seems to be wearing out since last month. nothing like this phone if looking for a basic phone without GPRS. It is going to become or must have become extinct by now. Never been able to change it. My kids are pressurising to exchange it with Nokia N73 but don't have courage to go for this change. GD92 is just great..

Looking for a new original battery so that I can keep it for next four more years. I have heard that panasonic has stopped making mobile phones but m optimistic about finding an original battery for my set. If any one still having this set do inform me.I would like to know if it has really become extinct or not.

Kindly also suggest me some phone I should opt if decide to go for another one.

Hiii every one,

I am using Panasonic from couple of days ..almost a month and few days..

It's one of the best phones... I was using nokia before the pan. GD92 and believed that nokia was the best, although nokia is the best in its category, but panasonic proved me wrong.. its a nice phone or rather very good cell phone, with easy and good integrated features.

The only drawback is the downloable wallpapers and ringtones..but it hardly makes a difference for a user like me... **however, the ringtones are better then the monophonic tunes of nokia... they are soothing to ears.

The other features like ....the light weight, the looks..the display and the backlight colors are quite soothing.

The only thing is that the earphone voice is quite less. IT is clear and proper(recieving).. but to overcome the handsfree(loud speaker) has very good output.

Well, all I want to say is that it is a useful and a worthy phone.

You can go for it.

Hmmm old but good.

Hello,

I am using this phone for he last two years. And I would say that it is good.

It's very light. This phone is about 3-4 years old but still it is light.

The best part is the ease of use. Panasonic have really made it user friendly and some of the features are simply amazing. It has a speaker phone which is really useful at times.

I want to buy another cell but I am so used to this one that I am thinking over and over whether I should let go this cell.

The only drawback it has is its big size. It is really a long phone.

Well that will be all I know that no one will buy this cell as its no longer available int he market still I will say those who have it. It is really a good cell.

All the people around me who have this cell are really happy with it.

I love my Phone..... :)
Feb 19, 2004 09:18 PM 4868 Views

Panasonic GD92 is my first phone and I would like to say that I LOVE it. It has been two years since I purchased it, but it is still going on, only with few problems like low battery and a flickering display (due to the dropping of the phone).

The year was 2002 and I felt the need to have a phone to impress the girls in my college(he he). I browsed through the market for a cheap phone which could come in my meagre student budget. Since it was to be my first phone, I didn't knew of the features I was expecting. So money was the main criteria. After going through different models of phones of different manufacturer, my eyes set up on two phones Nokia 3310 and Motorola Talkabout.

Nokia is a good brand name, most popular and had great features but due to cash constraints I settled for Motorola Talkabout which was costing me about 3500. I was going to purchase this mobile from Gaffar Market, New Delhi because there we get really cheap mobiles although there is always a suspicion about the reliability of the product sold from there.

On the designated day, I went to the shop to purchase my new mobile. While I was standing at the shop, I saw the salesperson showing a cool phone to some customer. I immediately enquired about that phone, it was Panasonic GD92. The looks fascinated me and when I took it in my hands, it was very light as compared to the phone that I was going to purchase (bulky, Motorola Talkabout). I enquired about the features of the phone and was overwhelmed by what this phone has to offer. Immediately I decided to abandon the plan of buying Motorola and made my mind to buy Panasonic GD 92.

Panasonic GD92 was costed me around Rs 6500 but till date I don't regret my decision to buy this phone. It has been working fine without any hassels. Let me list out the Features of this mobile:

Weight : 77 g (Standard Battery), This is one of the best feature of the mobile, its the weight of this mobile that makes people buy it. It was the lightest phone I can find in the market even today. Panasonic specializes in making light weight phone. The light weight makes the phone easy to carry along without feeling its burden.

Battery Life : The battery used in this phone is Standard Battery, 650 mAh Li-Ion battery. According to the specification the Stand By Time is 160 h and the Talk Time is 210 min

Display : 6 lines and LCD illuminates in 4 different colours. The screen is big giving a clear view of the message or the phone numbers. The LCD has 4 colors blue, red, greed and magenta. Display Type is Monochrome graphic.

Vibration : It has got two vibration modes Continuous and Intermittent.

Ringtones : The Ringtones are not very cool. It has only one ringtone that sounds good and used by majority of Panasonic GD92 user, other ringtones are more and less of no use. There are two Recordable ringers in which you can record any sound.

Memory : 100 phone numbers can be stored in the phone memory alongwith the email of the person. The memory space allocated to SMS is very less. You can store only 10 sent and 10 received messages on this mobile

Call records : The call record is maintained only for 5 dialed, 5 received, 5 missed calls. Too less, but anyways who needs the history of calls.

Other General Features of the phone are:

Network : GSM 900 / GSM 1800

Size Dimensions : 118.1 x 40.5 x 16.4mm

Data speed : 9600 bps

Messaging : SMS, Email

-Clock

-Alarm

  • T9

  • Voice memo

  • On/off timers

  • Dictaphone

  • Ring Tone Composer

  • CallerID graphics

  • Calculator

Cons :

Cannot add words to T9 directory.

No Games

Less Memory for storing SMS

Although the phone has less features, has limited memory but performance wise I would rate this phone as a BEST one from Panasonic. I would have loved to, but I cannot recommend this phone as it has been DISCONTINUED.

A Memorable Journey!!
Jan 15, 2004 01:39 PM 4779 Views

The narrative goes back to the time while my ego and I were travelling in a semi-luxury bus ( My definition of luxury esp. in travelling, is the number of dames that are present in the bus. By such standards, it was a semi-luxury bus.) At that time, I preferred a bus journey rather than a train due to time constraints & tremendous flocking of people in the Railways. The journey started and before the roadways of my city could allow our bus to touch the feet of highway, our bus had to pass through umpteen number of turns reminding me of Formula One Racecourses. I badly needed a doze off session due to belligerent fights with my work routine the previous day.

Atlast our bus emerged to be a winner leaving behind all sorts of vehicles, carts and stray animals to struggle against each other's deftness skills. I atlast fell asleep while self-suggesting my senses to ignore the vile flowing in the air from some of the bucolic passengers. Time passed.

Vrrrrrrrm. Vrrrrrrrrm. Vrrrrrrrrm. I was still half asleep and could easily sense that some group of female insects are trying to play Kabaddi on my chest. My chest hairs (that were yet unshaven and not influenced by Salman Khan) started bristling.'' #@$!%#'', said I. Being estranged with no other option, I woke up to my utter disgust and I still felt the Vrrrrrm, Vrrrrrrm. Caught you.! Just to find that it was my Panasonic GD 92mobile shivering due to it being in Vibratory mode.

Mum was on the line. A few minutes of one sided conversation (obviously from my mom side) and I was fagged out. This phone is so light. And the vibration is such that the Richter Scale in the propinquity would have started dancing. I remember the time when I was in control of My big fat Nokia 5110and soon side stepped it to use the oomph Samsung SCH 191. Unfortunately, It lasted only for some weeks before the real owner demanded it back and I couldn't even raise an eye brow before him. Obviously, he was my father. But that wasn't a bad loss either. I took hold of this feather weight Panasonic which although was a bit out dated but still worked well for me to establish contact with my loved ones even though most of the times, the conversation is one sided except when I'm on line with Customer Care Executives.

Yawn. My sub conscious mind had braced itself with surety that I needed a cat sleep. I fell asleep, forgetting the sunrays that were desperately trying to be incident on my eyes that had no goggles on it. The vile was still as strong but now the stench didn’t matter as I was used to it hitherto. Not more than five minutes passed and there you go again. Vrrrrrrrrm. Vrrrrrrrrm. I shook up and with drowsiness still in my eyes, I saw that it was a stupid SMS that was forwarded by a moron classmate of mine. The maximum number of SMSthat one could store was limited to 25. I cursed myself for having left space for one SMS otherwise I'd have been sleeping while the bus was talking with the air. I pressed on the ''Review''feature and made sure that all the messages amounted to 25 in number.

Time passed and I heard of no more vibrations. Suddenly the bus stopped and the rancid conductor sashayed near me and announced to the passengers with an air of pride about the thirty minutes halt. I could have almost turned him into a monkey but then why would I have to take all the credit. Thinking so, I moved out of the bus and at last I got a breather. I asked the smudged conductor to ventilate the foul smell by opening all the windows and having remarked this as fast as I could, I left the bus.

The hotel was full of people running here and there as if all the food was going to be exhausted within seconds. I went near the food court and exchanged a 10 Rs. note for a cool cup of Vanilla. While I was about to gulp the first scoop, I noticed a lurid girl who had to make a call urgently but to her utter dismay and my utter good fortune, the phone lines were out of order in that booth. Being juxtaposed in propinquity of her svelte figure, and being the gentleman I am innately, I offered her phone. Conversations happened (also between me and her, not to remark). Ultimately I entered her phone number in my phone book that could store as many as 350 numbers. The facilities of Group setting, My numbers, hot key dials, alert profileetc were very handy for me. Her number immediately dived into the alert profile. (No prizes for guessing)

The blazing Sun bid goodbye to us and the streetlights coruscated dimly in the road ways as our bus started cruising. I switched off the vibrator mode and adjusted the display color to light blue because it matched my pale blue shirt. Yes! Because this phone had features that allowed us to change colors of the display,I was able to score a Brownie point in front of my newly made svelte pal. She didn’t much like the blue color. And like a magician with his wand, I immediately changed the color to pink. I also had the options of green and amber but they were a perfect unfit for the phone at that hour. I thought in the boondocks of my mind that had the girl been a Chinese, even then I could have changed the display language into ''Chinese'' owing to the inherent language change facility present in the phone. I am amused how user friendly this phones are nowadays serving more than one task at the same time.

The bus was cruising along nicely and the cool breeze flew in from the cracks of the windows that were closed. Our bus was almost inching close to the final destination. With mirth in my heart, I prepared for my exit and shook hands with the lulu. I wanted somehow to listen to her sweet voice again and again. Suddenly my Grey cells tickled and I recalled the Recording facility in my phone. I requested her to help me record her final good bye words and there I was smiling at my gratuitous luck.

Together we matched our feet towards the exit of the bus and on the way I did receive ignominious look from fellow passengers. I gloated along and overlooked all such peccadilloes. I decided to fallow our friendship for some time to render it some nourishment and while transiting back to the lodge, I wondered who was the winner? Me, my wit or Panasonic GD 92. Touché.

Really really really it is a very good handset , featherweight , small, and it comes with good battery backup.

What do you want from a cell phone do u want to play game with it then please buy a brick-game of 200 Rs.

It is also best because of polyphonic ring-tones.You can record three strings in it.

It is goodlooking slim and SX.

It has a strong receiver and transmitter due to which user always gets hi fidelity. Also it is cheaper than other brands.

One more thing about new Camera Handsets,Please anyone reading this review tell me atleast 2 good reasons to have camera in handsets except for a Spy use.

It has a strong battery attached to its cover.Sim-card can be easily installed in the hand set.

Bye

sORRY buy it as early as possible.

Also panasonic has introduced smaller version of it with same features .

I am using GD 92 for last 2 years but it never has got any serious problems.

I am using this set since june 02,i haven't feel any problem in using this GD92.In deed there is no doubt that Gd92 is very delicate set u can't use this phone in a rough way I remember when my phone was fall down from cupboard it looses its display screen for replacement of screen I paid 850/-.

The good thing about this set is definitely its weight, I came across the almost all the mobile set available in market but 92 is having the lightest set in this price range, good network reception, sound clearance and speaker phone.

The bad thing about this set is this it doesn't having SMS forwarding feature, music ring tones downloadable feature and some how low battery life.

Feather light gadget

Surprise surprise,

this cell is better than nokia,

well I know u dont' belive me,

but do this simple thing,

use a pansonic gd 90 or 92 cell for 6 months, and then if u get a chance to buy another one ' u'll difinetly go for a newer panasonic,

the above is what exactly happenned with me,

i was a nokia buff and man I used it for year's,

then I changed it to pansonic gd 90 and then again I realized that I need a new one,

now which one was the question, well I tried sony, then I again had a nokia in my hand , par dil hai ki maanta hi nahi, I went for a gd92 and that's where I got my satisfaction,

what do u need in a phone,

1) very imp for me is weight, I think no other cell can beat this one in weight,

2) clarity, this one is crystal clear

well jus for some games sake, u cannot rate this phone bad,

and yeah , when this phone is in ur pocket u never realize it's presence, feather light,

the bad points,

the battery is no enough has to be charged everyday if heavy usage,

well the ringtones are not downloadable,so no more music to ur ears,

good points,

the speaker phone is great to hold a group conversation,

that's it I guess for now
