I was looking for a smartphone to combine my PDA and my Phone. I wanted the QUERTY keyboard to be able to enter data quickly, never really liked predictive text input. Plus I do a lot of texting, and call only if I need to. I wanted a color touch screen. I heavily use PIM applications because they help live an organized life. I was also looking for a lightweight device that looked cool, and did multimedia and bluetooth well. I didnt care much about WiFi - a PDA phone should be used as a PDA phone and not as a full fledged computer:) For those needs, one has the choice of using a laptop!:)
Given all this I compared different devices from Apple, HTC, Samsung and Nokia as well as Palm. And found that the Palm Centro met all my needs and has all the features required to live an organized and active life, and is definitely value for money.
The only things that Palm couldve done better is that they could have made the device slimmer, if only to make it cooler than some of the other slim competing devices. Also, in India, the Centro sells only in the 4 metros and Bangalore. If Palm were to sell it across more locations and spend some marketing dollars, they would discover a big market.
The software on the phone is highly intuitive and while the default applications are good and sufficient to make this a productive phone, there is a huge range of free and paid 3rd party applications for the PalmOS that have the potential to make this device much more integrated into a persons day-to-day operations.

This phone is the absolute best device on the market. It’s better and cheaper than the Iphone but has all of its features!! It has a touch screen and a qwerty keyboard. You can take pictures and record with awesome quality. You can listen to music, it has a palm version of itunes called P-tunes.
You can also browse the web and watch your favorite Youtube videos on the go. AND the best part is that is comes with Microsoft word, PowerPoint and Excel.
In addition, it gives the option to record voice memos. This is the ultimate device for a student or business owner. It is also good for the ultimate text messenger or instant messenger pro.
My friend and I both have this device so I can send her ringtones, pictures and videos through bluetooth---its great, fast and FREE! We never have to pay for picture mail ever again!
You have the option to purchase different sized sd memory cards. There’s also an option to optimize the Centro experience by down loading games, software application…the works!
The Cons:
The head phones are some separately, as well as the memory and the protective case. And it’s only available through the sprint network, so if you don’t have sprint… now’s the time my friends.
