Motorola Charm Reviews

Basically this phone is suitable for people who don't like their phones to be like a piece glass like the full touch screen phones rather would like to have some keys to it and that to qwerty keypad.

I am using this phone since last 18 months and I am really satisfied with it. Motorola but disappointed us by making it an non upgradable one because it is has an Android 2.1(eclair) version which has become old version by now and many applications are now being build with a at least minimum 2.2 android version.

Though people who are not so worried with the android version can rally go for this model and people interested in latest application and features it would be a BIG NO NO. And how can we forget the TRACK PAD that no other phone has.

Motorola charm has an 1inch*2 track pad behind the phone similar to the track which we get in our laptops using which you can scroll through the window and on double click you get any Cursor similar to the mouse.

It is really amazing that a company like Motorola managed to release a pathetic instrument like this in the market.

I am really disappointed. After being loyal to this brand for around 10 years now I have given up on this company as a whole.

WHY?

1. Pathetic battery back-up (this is the least of my woes)

   
   




2. It just freezes whenever it wants to. Even while you are in a call and it is quite frequent

   
   




3. Its touch screen is so amazingly inaccurate that 30% of the times you will end up dialing the wrong contact (especially in the call register)

   
   




4. The screen will just not respond even when the phone is not locked so it can take 120 seconds for you to dial 10 digits!!

   
   




5. You cant delete contact you dont want unless you connect it to the computer and then too it is so slow that after two operations you loose the patience.

   
   

If after using the instrument for just 5 months my I can spot so many issues, I am sure they found many more issues in basic usage in their R&D facility itself. It just shows that the management is ready to swindle you.

Really dissapointed!

I have been waiting for this phone since July when it was in news to be launched in US. At last got it thru flipkart online on 22nd Nov 2010. I was absolutely right in my decission and this one was made for me.

I guess this phone is for those who are not so comfortable with full touch screens. If you are messaging a lot you just cannot depend on screen touch keyboard. Typing is activity which can be done efficiently only when you have perfect tactile keyboard as Moto Charm.

It has everything which recent phones has everything in connectivity with nice working GPS. Backtrack is useful feature for navigation of large web pages and documents. Though it can be used for all other purspose, would not be required often since it already has nice touch screen and best keyboard.

Voice clarity and noise reduction as Motoroal claims is 100% true.

Camera and screen resolution could be dissapointing but overall screen viewing is okay. The landscape styled screen with perfect aspect ratio is best for viewing videos.

Moto Phone portal for syncronisation is another great features. I have never seen such simplified easy to usen sync before with any smart phone.

Performance wise its running excellent with Anroid 2.1 due to descent 512 RAM.

Form factor and build quality gives a very good impression. Looks are again a personal choice but we all know there are people who go with masses and some who have their own judgement.

Batttery life could have been better but the features and application this phone is offering you are never going to leave it in standby. So be preparedt and carry charger/cable always with you.

Hope my reveiw is useful for most of you especially those who are thinking to buy thier first Android phone.
