Moto C200 - "Small, cute but Not Durable"
May 13, 2015 10:45 AM3599 Views

I did not buy this Motorola C200 for brand new from shop but I got this for 2nd hand from a friend for the price of just about Rs.550. I bought this phone for my mother in 2006 becoz she did not have a phone for herself till then. This was here first phone and I get her this particular phone because she needed a mobile just for making and recieving the call.

I Only got the phone and Charger. No box or any Handsfree.

Pros -

1) The Moto C200, as u can see is so small in size, very light and can even easy fit into an Kids hands.

2) The Phone Keypad thou small, are rubbered plastic and are easy to operate.

3) The LCD is very small and cute but is very legible with a different green colored LCD.  I loved the LCD because Green color display was really Pleasant.

4) The battery very Strong and the backup Stayed on for 2 days.  Its really good for a second hand phone.

Cons -

1) the Phone is very soft and delicate.  Just after about 5 months of use, the Charging pin broke off when my mom tried to insert the charging pin into the port.  Now the phone is almost dead and unusable. Not Durable.

2) The Keypad attracts dust really fast making the phone look dust most of the time.

3) The Features of the phone is very basic..  This phone is no for people u expected basic games, stopwatch and so on.

Overall, This C200 Was a very small and light weight phone best suited for Girls and ladies.  But The is not that Durable as it looks!

Excellent and Economical Handset
Apr 21, 2006 03:46 PM2559 Views

Dear All,

I normally require the cell in my routine. Two year back my brother gifted me this handset to have a word anytime with me. Since that I am using this phone.

As per as the quality is concern, there is no challenge to the any ''Motorola'' products. This handset gives me the constant service of more then 24 hrs without any back up. Being HR Professionals, I use to get good no of calls, but the battery never gets down during working hours.

The only problem is with the charger, it is very difficult to find the charger easily at any places as the users are few.

At the same time when I had enquired about the prices, it is very much low as compare to other available handset in the market.

At the same time the life as compare to the other products is good and long.

I will recommend others to use this handset.

Thanks and Regards,

Nilesh Mer

Mumbai.

Good things come in small package!!

My first review was on Sony erricson K-300I. I mentioned too much technical details, which could be found on sony's site as well. So not repeating my mistake again, I will stick to my personal experience with Motorola C200. :-)

I guess college days are really cash crunched. I don't know about others, but I was always short of cash at the end of the month. I was looking for the cheapest available alternative, back then. So thinking about coloured screen, was out of my budget. And camera phone was a dream( Although I am a proud owner of K300I now )

The best part, about C200, is that, it is a living proof that technology is sure reducing the size of the appliances and devices. Motorola c200 is so small, that at times I actually need to do a thorough serach for it, in my multi pocketed cargos!!!

It was available in 3 colours then, White( which I had), cool blue and slimy green( yuck). Although the number of messages one could store was limited to 15-20, but combining the drafts/outbox folder, one can safely store upto 30-35 messages.

The second feature I love the most and still crave for is the usability, even my 4 year old nephew could navigate it, without any serious help!!!!!

But as all things, this small size come at a price, and you need to compensate on some factors. I am talking about the keypad. Actually the keys are pretty hard and small, messaging is quite a problem, unless you are not a message addict.( I was one, you usually cannot afford to call your girl friend at a petty pocket money of 1000-/ a month, so had to stick to messaging :-) !!)

If one is not upto messaging and believe that words influence, more than text, then go ahead and buy the phone, 'coz the sound quality is FANTASTIC and so is the reception. Considering that my engineering college was in the jungle, well actually on the oust skirts, and still I could get signals, when some of the other high powered Nokia and samsung mobile showed weak health. This ''Chotu'' (small) mobile could always connect you to your dear ones :-)

The battery life, was average though. It usually lasted for 3 days, if one does not talk at all and talk time battery life, varied from 4- 4.5 hrs.

Coming to the comapatibility with downloadable tunes, then I was disappointed when I could get any while ordering from 8888 and likes. But the good thing is that it has a composer which can put my mouth organ to shame. The composer gives a wide range of notes, but you have to be adept at creating music.

The ringtone, that are alreday loaded on the set are plane Jane, so if you are expecting to hear the latest bollywood numbers on the ringtones, you will be disappointed.

In all, considering the pros and cons, I had rate the set as 3.5 out of 5.

C200, in a different point of view..
May 12, 2004 08:42 AM4210 Views

Hello friends,

I am been member of this site for at least a month now, and have written reviews on only products that I use, as I cant write reviews on movies and serials, those things are not so important in my life,

But I was avoiding to write about this handset as current couple of reviews on this handset are negative and I have something else to say, and I hope that by your comments I will know if I am right or wrong.

I am an engineer, I m studying as well as working parttime for a company as well as I have great friend circle, I have good enough use or mobile, but what are my actual needs of a mobile phone ?

1] I hate hanging a phone around neck, or at ur west [belt] I hate it holding for no reason, best way to keep your phone is in your pocket of jeans or trouser, and for that u need a real small and light weight handset.

2] It should have good enough standby time as well as talk time, must have a good vibrator, strong ringing sound, voice clarity

3] And most important GOOD SIGNAL CAPTURING CAPACITY.

This is for we use a mobile phone.

Up to 18th of dec.?03 I was using nokia 3310[ I am using a mobile for last 2 years] I had problems with nokia that it was heavy? BIG and looks were like a kids toy mobile phone.

So taking the above points in to consideration just for a try I bought Motorola c200 as it was cheapest that time n I wanted to experiment.

And now what I have experienced

1] I have used this for yet upto 179 hrs of talk time.

2] battery last for three days if no calls have been done [ 72 hrs ] this is constant performance from day one]

3] If you are talking, battery last for 4 hours continuously

4] Its small and lightweight, many times ppl do not even notice that it is in your pocket

5] You can send and receive sms upto 765 char.!

6] The strongest composer I have ever seen [ which I know how to use, my sis plays with it.. I don?t use it ]

7] Best signal capturing and sound clarity , even the caller or listener opp. Also gets good sound.

8] Verrrrry handy and easy to use menu..

What else you want out of a mobile phone ?

You can call, receive calls, can sms, receive sms, it?s a alarm clock, its small, and easy to carry, has got games[ which I don?t need] this is for a mobile phone is meant for?

And what bullshit things about other phones?

1st of all, phones with camera? see a phone is means to be a phone? n for pictures there is a separate camera with all your need full filled, when it?s a camera phone, u cant use it as a full flange camera.. as no any camera phone provides actual clear satisfactory picture quality, plus u have to carry all this expensive and delicate thing just for communication? for grabbing pictures there is a separate device called camera , which I have sonydigicam p50 with which I am very much happy? use the thing for what it is meant to be.. there is a separate device for listening radio, as u will integrate two high-tech highly technical device together soon it must cause a problem, and everyone around is not a james bond who need a hidden camera?

So I suggest that as mobile is made for communication use it for communication.. there are other separate devices for other functions?

Drawbacks of c200:

1] Processor is lil sow, u feel it especially while typing a sms? but its not that slow? u r sending sms nit a SOS signal?

2] Buttons are lil hard, not so friendly

3] Colors are boring

4] Not compatible with nokia ringtones.. but its not a problem for me?

And if you want to overcome all the above problems? just go for Motorola c300.. you get all that you actually need plus satisfaction of having a complete phone..

That?s all folks, let me know your comments

MISTAKE...
Apr 28, 2004 03:58 AM3307 Views

Well my mom did a big mistake buying this one and gifting it to me.....from the start the trouble was with the battery....within 2 weeks the charger got burnt out...along with the battery.

So I got the battery replaced and to my dismay it still did not work. Then again I changed the complete battery chipset from the service centre which took 2 sweet weeks.

Finally I got it to use but to my dismay the only place where u can get music downloads from are from motozone.yahoo.com and that too slected vendors.

Moreover the problem with the set is the extremely long time it takes to charge it takes hours and hours and god forbid if ever the battery is completely discharged, it takes 24 hours for the set to work again.no doubt the set is cheap but at the same time it has far too many probs. The positives are the excellent reception and voice quality.

Also strangely although the set seems so light it really is heavier than the samsung r220 which is bigger. Also the battery again of this set is chinese and hence very liable to breakage.

Hang Man? or Mr. Buggy??

Goodlooking doesn't mean good, true for c200! it looks cute and trendy, is lightweight, easy to operate interface (very similar to t190), has really nice melody composer, LMS (765 characters!) but takes too long to boot(startup), can't access the phonebook/inbox/tye new mesages/play game for atleast 1st 45 secs. I play the game snake a lot and came across a lot of bugs in it, seems the motorola guys didn't bother to fix them(had seen the same bugs with t190, the older model).

Ringtones for this are not easily available; only motozone.yahoo.co.in has ringtones for this one, that too many times incmplete ones, and in maharashtra, these are not available on IDEA!! so better off composing yourself! the composer is very nice though.

Has itap dictionary (word prediction) the vibrator isn't very effective. Keys are too hard (maybe I feel itmore since I play games a lot!) signal reception is without doubt excellent! no complaints about that.

Delivery reports are not in the form on sms, just a flash messge on the screen-initialy I liked the idea, but now wish it gave reports in the form of sms. all in all, priced at Rs. 3500/-, you can say it's value for money, but pay 500 more and you get the nokia 3315, which I'd say is much better than this.

The c200 could have and should have been a bit better, atleast a little less buggy. so unless you want to try something different(n3315 is too common), you are better off skipping this one. Go for something from phillips/sony-ericsson, I hear they are really nice. Even n2110 and samsung are nice. So I really don't recommend this one. It's decent, but should have been better.
