The phone I am reviewing is the Ericcson T20e. Although you have come to the T20s page, I don't think that there are any differences between these phone. The only one I can see is that the T20s has a blue case, and the T20e has a riged metal case.
T20e: Introduction.
The ericcson T20e is one of the best phones I have come across without spending too much money. It is small, light, has a wicked blue backlight (makes a nice difference if you are used to the normal green/yellow ones) and best of all, nearly everyones favourite, a flip mouthpiece that answers when you flip it open, and hangs up when you flip it closed. It also fits EXTREMELY nicely into the palm of your hand. The first time I used it, I was addicted.
T20e: A better look.
So, we have established that the T20e looks and feels cool. What about features?
The T20e has an internal phonebook for up to 200 names, 10 e-mail addresses, 8 voice tags (to call people just by saying their name), calling cards setup (if you use calling cards, the phone can be set to dial the access numbers automatically), Groups for sending SMS to more than 1 person at a time and Fixed Dialling (provided the SIM card supports it).
Under the messages menu you will find quite a few nice features too. The first is Chat. This allows you to chat to people and view chat history, kind of what you would see in an internet chat room. Anyone who has seen chat on the nokia would know what i'm talking about. The only advantage the T20e has over the nokia is that you can host several chats at any one time, and closing the chat wont delete your history, when you recieve the next message, the chat opens from where you left off until you press End chat.
The T20e has all the usual messenging features you would expect to see on a cell phone, cell us local area information (cell broadcast) and access to your voice mailbox via the 1 button on the keypad. It also supports sending picture messages to other ericcsons (as long as they are capable to recieve) and recieving picture messages (even from nokias). It also supports longer SMS messages of up to 459 characters, and can be sent to and recieved from nokia phones.
There is a reasnable call information menu, that lists your outgoing, incoming and missed calls, as well as call timers and costs (network service).
The settings menu is something that ericcson should be proud of. Choose your sounds and alerts, different profiles (such as quiet in a meeting, loud in a shopping centre), opt to have lights on all the time, off all the time or automatic for only when you press a button. For those who know what it is, the T20e also support Swatch Watch Company's Internet Time. There are many more features available in this menu but arent worth going into. They are very cool though. You can gather this information at https://ericcson.com if you wish.
As with most phones these days there is an Extras menu. This consists of a basic calculator, countdown timer, stopwatch, your collection of picture messages, 5 cool games (including tetris!), and a demo mode, where the phone runs through its list of features and give you a basic look at what it can do. Handsfree, Car Kits and MP# player (as well as other accessories, mp3 player not included with phone) can also be set up through this menu.
The phone is also WAP compliant. It has an extremely nice and easy to use WAP browser, although I cant comment on it too much as WAP is too expensive so I dont use it.
The battery that comes with this phone is Lithium Ion. It lasts up to 6 days when not in use too much and charges within about 4 hours. Very cool.
Overall, I would say this is a very cool phone, and it is sold at most distributors for a reasonable price. Personally I would recommend a phone from the Nokia 33xx Series, but if you want a decent phone with a whole lotta functions, this is the way to go.
