GOOD PHONE IN ITS TIME
Jul 07, 2017 05:16 PM 1037 Views

It was a good mobile its was a stylish looking slim mobile. its size was small what was easily comes in my fist, what makes it easy to carry anywhere. its sound was very clean and nice and speaker was truly very powerful. its icons was very small what makes difficult to write anything I it. it was a normal 2g mobile. its operating system was different.

I like android software. it was a good priced mobile at that time because it was priced average value compared to other similar mobiles. overall it was a good enough mobile, which was not too good and not too bad just an average one.

Don't buy a Blackberry 9810!
Mar 10, 2012 07:58 AM 2903 Views

I have been a loyal Blackberry user for 7 years. I bought the newly launched Blackberry Torch 9810 in Oct'11 believing the hype around the OS7, robust build, etc. for around Rs. 30, 000/- from Croma. By Dec'11 the phone was hanging often, and needed to be hard-booted(remove battery, put it back, restart) each time. I took it to the Redington service center at Khar (open only 10.30 am to 5 pm, how do you manage on a working day?) where they told me its a s/w glitch, and upgraded the s/w on the spot. The phone does not hang now.

In Jan'12, the phone started giving audio problems. It rings for an incoming call, but when you accept the call, you cannot hear anything. Similarly, when you call someone, there is no audio whereby you hear the person's phone ring or what what he is saying. Solution - hard boot the phone each time this happens, then it works ok for a couple of hours until the problem reoccurs. I took it back to Redington who told me its a hardware issue and phone needs to go to Blackberry service center so will take 7-8 working days.

NO STANDBY PHONE WAS OFFERED, WHEN REQUESTED WAS INFORMED THAT NONE IS AVAILABLE. THIS APPROACH FOR A HIGH END CUSTOMER WHO PAID RS.30, 000 JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO, PHONE IS WELL WITHIN THE WARRANTY PERIOD.

The phone was returned after a week - after arranging to collect it on a working day. The audio problem is unchanged. I will be taking it back to the Redington outlet today.

How pathetic can Blackberry's service approach be?

Disgracefully Pathetic Service @ BlackBerry Centre
Dec 26, 2011 04:06 PM 1692 Views

This is to bring to your notice that I, Aradhya Kumar, am the owner of a BlackBerry Torch 9810 (Torch 2 -- IMEI : 357694042067164). My phone had encountered some kind of error in the OS due to which it would repeatedly restart i.e. it would never start.

I gave my phone at the BlackBerry Centre in Dehradun (after reference from the BlackBerry support website) - M/s Redington (India) Limited - for the same.

I was informed that my OS had been corrupted and that it needed to be re-installed and that I would lose all data on my phone. On agreeing to the same, I submitted my phone along with battery on Tuesday, 13 December, 2011.

The following should be noted :

--> The phone - BB Torch 9810 (IMEI : 357694042067164)- was submitted on 13/12/2011 along with battery.

--> Phone submitted in name of Adv. Noopur Gupta (my mother) by Mr.Deepak Yadav

--> The problem was OS corruption and the remedy was re-installation of OS.

--> I had to specifically tell the technitian that my phone ran on BB OS 7 (something that he was unaware of).

--> On learning about the OS, he told me that they would need to download the OS from the website and that I should collect my phone the next day i.e. on 14/12/2011.

Please note that I am a resident of Roorkee (80 KM away from Dehradun) and that I cannot travel to Dehradun too frequently. Since the nearest BB Centre was in Dehradun, I had no choice and accepted.

This was the start of my troubles, as the following will illustrate :

--> On calling the BB Centre on 14/12/2011, I was cheekily informed that due to a large file download (around 180 MB is what I was told) and electricity problems, they had been unable to download my OS and would need another day. Also, they said that they would inform me via telephone about the progress of my phone.

--> On receiving no call from the centre, I called again on Saturday, 17/12/2011. The lady who answered informed me that the person I had conversed with on 14/12/2011 had gone for some kind of training. When I asked about my phone's status, she asked for my IMEI number and told me she would call back in a few minutes. The call never came. When I again called at around 3 PM , it was only to realise that the centre had closed for half-day.

--> The same happened when my father called the centre on Monday, 19/12/2011.

--> With no information from their end, perpetually engaged phone lines, and my inability to go to their centre (I am in Roorkee, and have my examinations) - my troubles continued.

--> I was in going to be in Dehradun from Saturday (24/12/2011) to Monday (26/12/2011) and so I called once again on 24/12/2011. After a few minutes of conversation the technitian told me in a very unconvincing tone that they had done the needful i.e. installed the OS and that the phone was running. Also, they said that they wanted to test the phone with a SIM card and that would require my presence and my SIM (its really a wonder if they do not have a test-SIM at the BlackBerry Repair Centre). They gave me no reason as to when my phone had started working or why they had failed to inform me about it. Moreover, by the time I would reach Dehradun, the centre would be closed for the day and the person recommended me to receive the phone on Monday i.e. 26/12/2011.

--> With not much in my hand, I agreed.

--> On calling the centre repeatedly today, Monday 26 December, 2011, nobody picked the phone. Desperate and frustrated, I went to the centre only to find it closed for no apparent reason.

Sir/Madam, please consider the following :

--> Re-installation of OS takes 20-60 minutes. I have not received my phone for 13 days.

--> As per subscription to BIS service, I am paying Rs.13.30 per day (Rs.399 for 30 Days). With the phone not available for 13 days, I have already suffered damages of Rs.172.90 (and this is likely to increase with each passing day).

--> Also, not being a resident, my transportation expenses are an inconvenience.

--> Damages to time.

--> Mental frustration from consumer harassment and no call/messages from the Centre.

--> Sheer loss of productivity while using a standby phone for 2 weeks.

I am extremely dissatisfied with the unprofessional behavior of the centre. Also, BlackBerry is a premium phone and such a disgraceful and incompetent post-sales service questions the company's reputation.

Kindly look into the matter.

Yours faithfully,

A dissatisfied customer,

Aradhya Kumar.

---- UPDATE -----

--> My father finally got the handset back today i.e. on 30/12/2011 after 17 DAYS !!

--> What's more is that the geniuses at the centre had, inspite of my informing them on the first occasion itself, installed OS-6 on my device (which, it should be noted, was never meant for this downgrade).

-->It was only when my father went there today and told them about it that they exclaimed in a truly dramatic manner -- "SIR !! The latest OS is out.. If you can just wait for another hour, we will be delighted to download it for you and install it !!"

-->This was AFTER they made him wait for about half an hour claiming "lunch break".

So overall result has been :

-->For 17 days they conveniently kept my phone in a closet or something since they didn't really do any work.

--> They have no clue as to which OS is to be installed on which device.

--> They have complete inability to follow any given instructions (since I had already told them about OS 7)

I just want to end the article by stating that at Rs.31000, this is the most expensive phone from BlackBerry. Also, I could have gotten the likes of Samsung Galaxy S2 (rated to be the No.1 phone on the market right now -- not to mention being a device that would dwarf and humiliate my BB's hardware). I, like most other RIM customers, spent that extra bit for the premium services and all the superb customer support that RIM is famous for. But after a 17-day torment for a re-installed OS, I am just praying that nothing ever happens to my phone because I really don't think I can bear this kind of Service Centre facilities ever again in my life.
