Everyone knows about the iPhone but very few people know about the history of this device. When did the first generation of the iPhones see the world? What were the expectations of its inventors? Why has the iPhone become the most popular smartphone in the world? The iPhone is a smartphone produced by Apple Inc. The iPhone is the most popular product of Apple Inc. It provides this corporation with the biggest profit. No wonder, they try to improve every new generation of the iPhone intensively in order to attract new clients and improve customer loyalty. This device is supposed to shape the industry of smartphones nowadays. Although numerous rivals of Apple Inc. try to copy the design and functions of the iPhone, this device is still the leader on the market of smartphones.
The history of the iPhone dates back to the beginning of the 2000s when Steve Jobs decided to combine a multi-touch touchscreen and a tablet computer. The result of this synthesis was the Original iPhone or iPhone 1. The reaction of the audience towards the Original iPhone was controversial, because it possessed a touchscreen and its single original home button. It is possible to say that this device was revolutionary in the world of smartphones. No wonder, the marketing slogan of the Original iPhone sounded: “This is only the beginning. Apple reinvents the phone.” This smartphone possessed iPhone OS and supported its three further versions – iOS 2 and iOS 3.
The second generation of the iPhone was improved effectively. The device received 3G connectivity and became cheaper due to the plastic rear casing. Moreover, customers could choose between the white and black models. The iPhone 4 had survived serious redesign. It began to look like the majority of the further models. This model was covered with glass from both sides. Furthermore, Apple Inc. inserted a forward-facing camera with FaceTime. Naturally, the quality of a camera was improved. It possessed already 5 megapixels. The iPhone 4 was upgraded seriously. The further model was called the iPhone 4S and contained a bit faster processor and an 8-megapixel camera, which improved the quality of photos and videos.
The fifth generation of the iPhone included three models: the iPhone 5, 5C and 5S. The iPhone 5 was redesigned successfully. It gained a bigger display and became lighter due to the rear casing made from aluminum. It had the same 8-megapizel camera as the iPhone 4S and received HD FaceTime front camera. The iPhone 5C received the same components as its forerunner, but gained a plastic rear, which was supposed to make this model more affordable to an average customer. Moreover, this line had a variety of colors, which emphasized the original taste of the iPhone’s owner. The further 5S model received new colors and a new home button, which contained a fingerprint Touch ID sensor. This sensor is supposed to prevent other people from the access towards your phone.
The last generation of the iPhone appeared in 2014. The 6th model of the device has a distinctive and recognizable size. Some people say that the iPhone 6 Plus resembles a tablet but not a smartphone. The devices of this line gained a fast processor and an improved camera.
It is interesting that Apple Inc. improves its own operating system regularly. If you want to update your old device to the new version of iOS, it is not always possible. Some previous lines of the iPhone do not support current iOS 9 for example. Consequently, the corporation improves the operating system in tandem with the development of its new smartphones.
In conclusion, the popularity of the iPhone is growing constantly. Apple Inc. releases a new line of its smartphones every year impressing its clients with various radical innovations. In my opinion, the iPhone will not lose its leadership on the market on smartphones in the near future.
