RPG Cellular Mobile Operator Reviews

Bad with.... cooperation
Mar 31, 2018 12:53 PM1679 Views (via Android App)

Hello guys I'm going to share my experience with RPG cellular mobile operator. I have subscribe like a month ago to RPG calculer mobile operator on the basis of subscribers I thought they will give me a good service to their subscribers I thought that because I was a subscriber but when I used it for like 10 days I realise that this is this is very bad operator so I decided to complaint about technical issue that I went fishing but when I called them they told me that they are going to solve my problems in like 2 days I thought I should wait for 2 days but I waited for like 7 days then I called them again and again they told me that they will solve my problem in 2 days so I gave up and quit calling a particular mobile operators so guys I just want to tell you that it's a good mobile operator but their services is really bad if anything happened to you I don't know they will help you or not I think they will not so I suggest you that you should buy another thing then RPG calcula mobile.

They charge too much for any connection and it took them like hours and 2 hours to give you proper connection recharge you too much for just little connection their billing process is not cheap so I think you shouldn't be taking there operating system unless you don't have another choice

If , there is any zero stars to give their service I would have given them.

Beware of RPG Cellular !
Nov 29, 2008 12:09 AM5000 Views

Remain a bonafide and obedient customer of RPG for years, you will never win the guarantee that your connection will continue even if you miss your payment even once after 24 months. You are not supposed to fall sick ever, not supposed to forget ever, however busy you are, you are not supposed to miss ever the due date of payment of your RPG Cellular cell phone! "Customer Relation" is a parmanently missing vocabulary from the dictionary of RPG Cellular.

You do not want to change your Reliance number( CDMA) but want to buy  a better version of instrument(handset), preferably with a good camera of atleast 5 megapixel? Forget it! You have to accept whatever RPG wants to give you; there are only two models with cameras, limited to 2 megapixels only! You cannot get a CDMA handset from the open market.

Once you adopt a CDMA service provider like RPG, you are like a trapped jackal, you  forego your tail( forgo your number  and the handset as well), to get out of it!

Please ensure that RPG Cellular signal reaches inside your office premises, otherwise everytime you enter your office you have to call forward your number to your office PEBX, and deactivate each time you come out of your office.

.Never enter the Reliance World in your handset in paying the additional subscription. Monthly subscription will be perrenial but services are occasional- please never make such mistake!

Beware of RPG Cellular!

Never spell Aircel
Dec 30, 2006 01:44 PM5648 Views

Hi friends,

If u wanna take new mobile connection, please read the review & decide,

Aircel boast it gives unlimited Sms with a daily rental of Re 1 but one thing it is not sure that all the sms will be delivered. It says 24/7 Customer services but that doesnt mean that you will a get a line,if you have a chance of winning a lottery you can get a line. If you tell your problem customer care officer will tell his problem and not the solution. You will get full signal only under the the tower (little bit like fixed line ) .Aircel is like a musician you can hear your voice clearly(echo)than the other end more like a BGM(Back Ground Music in a Movie).

They will teach us to maintain balance because in Aircel, we have to maintain min balance of Rs.3 to send Sms.(How nice they are ).Aircel follows traditional method of recharging ,(Nowadays u can recharge ur mobile phone card through internet banking, we won't find aircel or rpg cellular in the listed companys). They proudly says so many lakhs of peoples are under their network , but the fact is that people buy then try and throught the card.

It is one of the worst cellular service in chennai city is the ulimate conclusion. If you find any wrong information please let me know.

Can a Customer Service be this bad?
Sep 11, 2006 08:57 PM5099 Views

I am wondering what the hell is happeing with Aircel? I have been trying to reach someone on the "9999" number. When I press "0" for a rep. it keeps on ringing and no one picks up. I tried several times the whole day today11/09/2006. Very poor service, disastrous. I tried the other number 98410-56789 it says the number you have called is currently busy........I have not heard this message in any of the cust. service number. I dont understand whats happening with "Aircel". My friends keep compliaining that I am not recieving any messages that they are sending Airtel, Hutch etc while they are able to send it to other providers and other aircel numbers.......I reached my peak frustration when I could not send a feedback thru their website..........Poor Poor Poor service. I am looking forward for the number portability facility once it becomes live I will change this to Airtel or Hutch........

Ahmedabad India
Aircel should learn to manage better
Aug 09, 2005 05:34 PM8817 Views

Aircel has proven that it's just an another Cellular Service Provider, who looks only for 100% profit and not looking out for even 50% customer satisfaction. When compared to Hutch and AirTel Aircel lags behind.

Let me start writing about the Con's about Aircel after saying one information, one good thing about Aircel is their billing is perfect.

Prepaid Section

I am sticking on with an Aircel connection for a couple of years. (When Aircel was known as RPG Cellular). The postpaid plan then was actually a boon for all middle class people in Chennai. The major attraction was free sms (local, national & international), now they have taken this plan back and only local sms is free. Recently they have reduced the Grace period from 30 days to 3 days, which is really a deteriorating factor. Two months back the SMS congestion and network congestion was happening. But, now they have solved that problem. Nevertheless, the network congestion is showing it's face now and then very rarely. Now, all those prepaid customer started with all the facilities in their Cellular plan has got nothing left behind. And now what they hold is a plan that is given by anyother cellular network.

The reason why they are still sticking on to Aircel is to hold the same number. Soon, people will realize that nobody is caring about your number, because they won't remember your number while dialling, it's your name through which they call you or dial using their mobile or any other phone book.

Postpaid Section

After a long time in Prepaid, after all the facilities that have been taken aback by Aircel, I have opted to go in for a Postpaid connection, luckily I got a corporate connection, which gives me 200 local, national & international sms, 100 minutes local calls free and CUG free for a nominal fee of 199. My actual bill will come somewhere around 250 to 260. But, now after the rule from Mr. Dayanidhi Maran saying that all the operators should make Tamilnadu as a single entity without roaming charges, these guys had made a trap and started charging 25/- Rupees extra for every CUG connection apart from the bill for Roaming. (Which is supposed to be free as per government rules) But they are quite intelligent that they have imposed this to all CUG connections saying that calls are free within CUG all over tamilnadu. But, think about those who doesn't need this, should also have to pay this 25 rupees. The network signals inside Tamilnadu for aircel is not as good as bsnl or airtel. The next trap, which they have set up is the 100 minutes local free calls. Aircel has started charging all the local BSNL cell phones + local Reliance cellphones calls at local rates. Besides their previous announcement that all the first 100 minutes local calls are not chargeable.

One more move from Aircel towards their benefit will make most of their customer base to go out of hand towards other cellular operators. The basic idea for every organization will be profit with customer satisfaction. I don't say that they shouldn't take profit. Let them take 200% profit. But, don't take away given things and I want them to target atleast 80% of customer satisfaction. They customer support team doesn't know what to do most of the time. And they don't have even simple powers to solve most of the problem online.

AirCel (Please Sell to someone!)
Jan 13, 2005 10:12 PM5675 Views

Hi guys,

Aircel is big on Ad's but when it comes to Network traffic, it is ''Please try again later''.

You would have to dial .>3 times to get a line.

Their recharge couplons are worse when compared to other operators,

If you recharge for 550 rupees, you get 375 rupees worth of talktime.

If you recharge for 330 rupees, you get 175 rupees workth of talktime with 1 month validity period.

if you recharge for 200 rupees, you get 50 rupees worth of talktime with 1 month talktime.

As per Aircel......Local and within State SMS is free with Rs.1 being debited daily basis.....National SMS will cost Rs.2 per message. International SMS will cost Rs.3 per message!

Aircel is not a GPRS, WAP enabled Cellular operator there goes one fact.

Prepaid scheme works this way.

If you recharge for 550 rupees, you get 375 rupees worth of talktime with 1 month validity period. They automatically debit you Rs.1 per day for SMS they will debit you Rs.1.

So almost man you loose (265) rupees . HAHAAAHAAHHH (thtz why I said clever), so you get just 285 rupees worth of talktime if you recharge for 550 rupees.

If you travel out of state, say you go to bangalore, all incoming and outgoing calls are charged at 5 rupees per minute!!. I experienced it 2 weeks back and was shocked!!!.

Man this option will be gud if you want ONLY FREE sms within you region. Otherwise choose someother operator.

Their Customer Support is OK.

Hope you choose the right Mobile operator.

AirCel or AirHell?
Oct 11, 2004 10:20 AM6219 Views

Chennai Customers Beware. Aircel (RPG which was swallowed by AirCel which is now swallowed by Hutch) boasts of 100000 (I'm not sure how many zeros) customers. Their plans are good but you'd be a sucker if you get into their clutches. The most horrible customer service who are very rude, and just keep saying it will be taken care of. I took two AirCel connections (Postpaid) it took them2 weeks to activate them !

Their network coverage though extensive is lousy. I work in one of the tallest buildings in Chennai's central area (T.Nagar) but I don't get a signal. I can neither make or receive calls even if go to the 11th floor terrace or go to the ground. Same thing happens in my parent's apartment again in a central place. The coverage seems very selective and very weak! The phone which I use to keep in touch with my wife is useless now since she can't reach me or I can't call her when I am at work using the AirCel connection anyway !

Also the Cell City representatives are totally ignorant and do not seem to know anything. They don't mention the extra charges applicable when you are signing up but later you find you are billed extra for what you thought was part of the package!

If you are looking for a good Cell Operator look elsewhere - or hope that Hutch will be taken over by AirTel!

AIRCEL - the economic customers' choice
Oct 06, 2004 01:30 PM7032 Views

AIRCEL RPG Cellular was taken over by Aircel (NOT AirTel) a few months back.

Aircel is the operator in the Tamil Nadu circle. Aircel is #1 in TN going by the subscriber base. By taking over RPG Cellular, Aircel has extended his coverage in circles. Now Aircel has been taken over by Hutch and hence this review should be under Hutch heading but since the Aircel brand still exists, I am writing here.

The latest review in mouthshut.com on Aircel (RPG) was written in Nov 03. Lot of changes have happened since then. So, I thought I should let everyone know about it.

Network

One of the widest coverage of the city till Airtel came up with its ER network. But since I havent used Airtel I wouldnt know their extent of coverage. I have not faced a network problem in Chennai. I don't think there is any other network which can provide such wide coverage.

Network congestion would have been a topic of discussion a few days back. but now, there is absolutely no congestion. Calls get across on first try. And I haven't got any complaints saying your mobile wasn't reachable etc etc. So that means the network is working fine.

Customer Service

Not the best in the business. But even AirTel which is such an established brand is known to be the worst in the industry in this aspect. I have heard ''Vanakkum Aircel'' (Means Greetings, Aircel when translated from tamil) being the first words spoken by the customer care officer. Now they have changed over to English thankfully.

They have a pitiable system interface. It will ask you to dial Star '''' to continue. I don't understand why thats needed. You dial them to continue only na? Why should you press '''' again?

Billing

I have never had any problems with their billing service. I have always paid for what I talked. Best Part of Aircel I suggest that you take their prepaid service. I am on postpaid though. I say prepaid because, SMS is free. Completely free. Local, National & even ISD SMS is FREE. You can type away to glory.

I was on prepaid before migrating into postpaid because I shifted to a corporate CUG connection.

But all of you out there, whenever you are in the city of Chennai, you can try the Prepaid service of Aircel. You will not be dissappointed.

I haven't touched upon the issue of the history of RPG Cellular-to-Aircel-to-Hutch-to-I don't know what. I hope somebody reviews that. In this fast-changing industry I guess keeping yourself abreast of the corporate changes is absolutely necessary.

RPG Is the best!!!!
Nov 28, 2003 12:47 AM5224 Views

I don't care what others have to say.I've been using RPG ever since I bought my first cellular phone three years ago. And I'm still using it. They have the best coverage not only in the city, but also in suburbs which come under the neighbouring district, but within a radius of 20 Kms around chennai's limits. Infact RPG's coverage is unmatched in places like Mahabs. My friends get roaming signal there, but I get full strength signal on RPG-local!!!!! And the recharge cards are available anywhere!!!!! I mean it, ANYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!They have corporate plans which are very flexible and have special plans for students too!

But I had a slight problem with them earlier. My bill used to reach my residence after the due date and by the time I pay(From the due date onwards) I get numerous calls asking me when I'm going to pay. But it was later found that the courier people were responsible for it, and was solved. Thereafter, I did not have any problem as far as billing was concerned.

Save Rs. 2000 by buying Airtel 1 yr Pre Paid
Aug 20, 2003 03:43 PM7167 Views

If you are a post paid user (Any connection)with medium usage then read on...

I have a RPG Post Paid connection with 299 monthly rental with tax it comes to Rs 350 per month. I usually make calls in the range of Rs 100 to 150 which comes to total bill of value between Rs 500 to 600.

My current expense with RPG Postpaid:

Monthly rent with tax - 299 (rent) + 50 (tax) = Rs 350

Calls to mobile (1 rs / min) - 30 calls of 2 mins duration = Rs 60

Calls to LAN line (2 rs / min) - 20 calls of 2 mins duration = Rs 40

SMS (1 rupee) - - 20 SMS = Rs 20

Total bill value for a month = Rs 470

Expense with Airtel One Year Pre paid card:

First you have to buy a starter pack (pre paid – 250 rs ) and then recharge for one year at rs. 3240.

Starter pack (talk value = 50 rs) = Rs 250

One year recharge coupon (talk value Rs 2870) = Rs 3240

chec out - https://chn.airtelworld.com/connections/magic.htm

Total expense using a pre paid = Rs 3490

Let's calculate my expense using the prepaid Airtel option:

Calls to mobile (2.40 rs / min) - 30 calls of 2 mins duration = Rs 144

Calls to LAN line (2.40 rs / min) - 20 calls of 2 mins duration = Rs 96

SMS (1 rupee) - 20 SMS = Rs 20

Total talk value expense in a month = Rs 260

So, talk value of (2870 + 50 refer above) 2920 will last for 2920 / 260 = 11.2 months

Total bill value for POST PAID for (11.2 months)= 11.2 * rs 470 = Rs 5264

So total expense USING AIRTEL PREPAID = 3240 + 250 = Rs 3490

Total expens with Post Paid = Rs 5264

SAVING WITH PRE PAID FOR ONE YEAR = Rs 1774

The bottom line is IF YOUR POST PAID BILL IS AROUND 300 TO 700 RS THEN SWITCH TO AIRTEL PREPAID AND RECHARGE FOR 1 YEAR you will save anything between Rs 2000 to 500

Hope it helps…

Wings Lite the winner
Aug 11, 2003 06:16 PM5743 Views

Im using mobiles for the past 43 months.Im a avid mobile user and have given a try to almost everything.Ive used all the four GSM networks and two CDMA networks in chennai. But im gonna review about the pre-paids here so both the CDMA will be neglected.Im gonna focus in four important factors in selecting a Mobile Service.Network coverage, Cost of service, Services available, Product Availability.

Netwok Coverage:

Airtel and RPG provides the best coverage in chennai with both the providers have more than 150 towers installed around the city.Airtel has a slight advantage over RPG but u really cant seperate them.On the otherside Hutch and Excel suffers in outer parts of the city.Excel has good extended coverage on the out skirts but dont get fooled away! it workes on roaming while Airtel and RPG has local coverage over there.Hucth im really sorry they have to focus investing in installing towers rather than fancy advertisements. Also note tat Excel has almost a non workable SMS service. So Airtel and RPG winners in this area.

Cost Of Service:

RPG is the most flexible in this segment with two pre-paid plans.Wings lite and Roam. With wings lite your outgoing is almost Rs.1.00 cheaper than Airtel, Excel, Hutch & Wings Easy Roam. But you wont be able to have roaming in this card. But for a student like me im not gonna roam anywhere other than chennai and in case if I roam when im in vacation I want to be free from the city buzz.So I strongly recomend RPG over anyother Networks. On the other hand Hutch provides a unique offer which is almost the inverse of their previous post-paid scheme. The more u have balance the more your outgoing rates will reduce. But tat still dont manage to hit Wings lites price.Airtel , Wings Easy Roam and Excel has the same outgoing rates. In the SMS segment Aitel & Hucth is Rs.1 while Lite is 50 paise and Excel is 60 paise.RPG is considered winner here.

Services Available:

In terms of Value Added Service(VAS) Excel scores a big Zero here. While they have problems with SMS who can expect them to give a VAS?Airtel Excel and Hutch provides u a free Voice Mail Service. But when u see the retrievel rates I dont think any one gonna use it......But in other parts RPG, Hutch & Airtel scores the same. They all have the abilities to log into Web Messengers which is a vital VAS they all have the ability to send free SMS from the Web.Moreover they all have their own methods of providing Logos, Ringtones & Other SMS based services.RPG just looses its place in Voice Based Balance Enquiry system while the other three has a automatic balance display system. This segment belongs to three joint winners except Excel which shud do somethin here to attract demanding young users.

Product Availabilty:

As u know Airtel the most popular service in the country has a good solid availabilty of their products almost anywhere in the city. They also have their own Magic Pre-Paid worlds to help users in different parts of the city.RPG has a solid availability as it is the oldest service in the city.Hutch is also very good in this area while Excel slowly trying to catch up but its no where near these private providers. Its really hard to get Rs.300 recharge for Excel!!!.Three private providers scores here almost equally with Airtel just leaping ahead while Excel has to look upon their rivals.

Over all I suggest to go for Wings lite which is the most comprehensive package in the city. With outgoing rates of Rs.1.50 per minute flat for all outgoings and just Rs.2.00 for Mobile STD and with free Airtime for Landline STD calls its a bargain.SMS is a bit sluggish at times but for 50 paise no one will complaint. If ur a frequent roamer il suggest u to go for a Post-Paid which is much better and economical. If u ever want to roam with a Pre-Paid go for Airtel which has a very good Roaming Service.

Trust them - can you ???

A Story is an album by Yoko Ono, recorded in 1974, during the "lost weekend" sessions in which John Lennon produced Walls And Bridges. The album went unreleased until the 1992 box set Onobox, which featured material from A Story on disc six. It only saw proper release as an individual album in 1997, with the re-issuing of Ono's back catalogue by Rykodisc. The reissue added three bonus tracks, including home demos and a live recording from the Starpeace tour

Gurgaon INDIA
What age are these guys living in ??
Feb 06, 2003 04:45 PM5199 Views

Well I came to Chennai from Delhi and took a RPG prepaid mobile connection. I had an idea connection earlier. I never imagined one of the largest cellular services providers in chennai will be plagued by such problems

Disadvantage

1) Primitive,Cumbersome,Customer unfriendly Method of Balance Enquiry and Recharging your coupon.

2) No Roaming in even a important city like mumbai.

3) One has to submit an application for getting roaming activated on Postpaid connection

4) Signal is weak inside the buildings. most of the time my friends or myself get as network not vailable

5) while talking shaky connections loss of voice

6) Delay in bothways SMS transmission .

Advantages

I can't think of any

Satisfied subscriber but?
Jan 23, 2003 09:24 PM5356 Views

Welcome my fellow rpgians in chennai.i took a post paid connection before three years.eventhough I changed to many plans I still stick with them.why?according to my point rpg gives the best customer satisfaction since before that I was having skycell for one year.in rpg autodebit facility is available for postpaid subscribers if they have visa, master, amex etc.but skycell accepts only amex to use autodebit facility which is still going on.more over for change of plans rpg does not charge where as skycell charged before and now its free.sky may have produced latest technologies but failed to get geniune subscribers.rpg is old,no aggressive marketing and 32k simcard does matter everybody but the coverage is matchless to skycell where traffic congestion still makes sms makers a lot of headache.rpg is first among gsm operators to give interconncetivity with the tatas and makes its subscribers happy.but how long the subscribers can see their neighbours enjoying most advanced services, rpg has to pull their socks since wll is going to play major role orrumour says it is going into the hands of tata?soon may be since they have service in chennai alone and cannot put their foot anywhere

RPG Speaks WELL
Sep 07, 2002 10:05 AM5569 Views

Yes. RPG Cellular provides a good quality of service in cellular services. Iam holding a service plan of Free Talk 100. This plan gives me an option of 100 free airtime, after that it charges Rs. 3/- per minute. RPG establishes large networks over in many places. So we will be getting good network and the voice reception will also be good. It provides another plan costs Rs. 1199/-. For this plan, All Incoming calls are free. Outgoing calls costs Rs. 4/- per minute. For the peoples who will be getting more calls can go for this plan. For moderate users can go for Free Talk 100. RPG made us Speaks/Talks WELL.

How not to be a CSP..!
Aug 14, 2002 02:40 PM6600 Views

In Chennai, all those who need a cellular phone had only two choices till recently. Skycell and RPG. RPG used to be the choice of every one due to their coverage area and that alone. This advantage too was lost as soon as Skycell was taken over by Airtel an year back. This is how the story unfolds.

At RPG, they were the best covered Cellular Service Provider and had the largest customer base. Though the coverage was huge, they were not equipped enuf to handle the kind of traffic they were getting. Every time we try a call, we get this network busy signal. Atleast some of your friends will complain to you that your phone is not reachable when they want you. Then you know the Network was clogged. Fluctuations and cut signals are a part of your life if you are an RPG Subscriber.

Ever tried calling the service lines of RPG? They will never be answered untill you have waited for a solid 15 minutes on hold. The computer lady will keep telling you that all the customer service officers are busy with other customers. Isnt that an indication to how many of their customers have problems with them? And finally when your call is answered, hellooo did I call RPG or is it one of the Hitler's men? The most rude customer service official will be answering you in the roughest tone you have ever heard. They don't care what your problem is and they are doing you a favor by listening to you. Zero flexibility is their policy and customers are their Dogs.

Billing is even funnier. You are given a meager Rs. 2500 credit limit and as soon as you approach Rs. 2000, your Out Going calls are disconnected along with your Caller Line Identification service. Personally, I feel it is a trick to disconnect your line faster by forcing you to pick every call without realizing who is calling and thus reaching Rs.2500 before you know it. I wouldn't know if they are billing any wrong numbers on my account as I am frequent user. But all I know is I have to visit them atleast thrice a month to get my line Cleared because I have reached my limit.

Wrong info from the Customer Service line is nothing new here. One of them will tell you that you can make a cheque payment at any of their RPC Cell City across town. Then after a few minutes, you line is deactivated again. When you call back, they will tell you that they are going to wait for the cheque to clear before you can have your connection back on. They don't understand how much this is going to cost the subscriber. I am a personal victim of it. My brother got in an accident and was knocked out. Some good samaritan found my mobile number from his pocket and tried to reach me when they had deactivated my line. He couldn't and he took the trouble to ride all the way to my office to give me the news. Thats when I decided enough is enough. I got myself an Airtel Connection. May God bless this man and send RPG to Hell.

My Advice to all those in Chennai and want to take a Cellular connection. Stay away from RPG.

CISTOMER stands for KASTHA SE MAR
Feb 08, 2001 09:48 PM5092 Views

RPG mobile does not qualify even for an average rating because it is run on age old principles where customer is SYNONYMOUS for KASHTHA SE MARNE KE LIYE.....

It has a very poor networking and it most fragile infrastructure........

There is no room for innovations at rpg except that they are good at searching ways to charge extra from customers every now and than.....

IT is poviding services in backward areas of m.p. and chhattisgarh so it is still surviving otherwise only GOD knows the prognosis.....
