Billing
Apr 08, 2003 12:17 AM 2132 Views

The post paid cellone services are damn good except for the fact that a subscriber faces problems while depositing bills. there are no proper bill deposition counters. the only few that are too crowded-the cheque drop box facility isn't reliable because you never know whether your cheque has been received by them or not. at the end of the day you end up with disconnection. besides, there in no way for a subscriber to know his current billing status.

however, cellone gives you excellent connectivity from rural areas to cities-far better than any other mobile phone operator.the std rates are very low and the plus point is that if you call up any BSNL landline phone through std you do not have to par airtime. since most of the country is covered by bsnl's bfone- this is a boon for those who make too many std calls to landlines. I had been using essar cellphone prior to this-and I tell you it is damn bad. despite the billing glitches bsnl rules.

Finally something good..

For years we have been taken for a ride by the usual cellular service providers..increase in rates..pay a certain amount to get your incoming free which basically makes up for the incoming charges.Airtel is a real bombshell to maintain..my father has bills mounting to about 5000 to 6000 a month with that connection. their rates are just too high and even the messaging is expensive.1.50rs per message.

i have been a subscriber to spice telecom in karnataka for the past year till I changed to bsnl (excel) prepaid card.spice telecom would just rip me off with their rates.3rs outgoing and incoming rates.50p messaging to spice networks, 1rs messaging to other networks.plus they would deduct 3rs everyday and rs 150 would be deducted after recharging your balance as service charges. out of a 500rs recharge I would have a balance of rs 350 usage but with the deduction of rs 3 every day the amount of currency you get to use is about 150rs.which would get over within one and a half weeks.plus there was no roaming and no extra services.

bsnl excel card has been a real boon.its really nice to use even though it will take sometime for their network to settle down.but the messaging is free ,incoming is free and outgoing is 2rs a minute..almost like my own normal telephone.ive practically stopped using my landlines now..the charges are affordable, plus you get extra services, and roaming which includes coverage on the national highways and on trains too.i think its brilliant.so far there has been a huge demand for the cellone or excel connection.so much demand that there are a shortages of sim cards.

the main thing is that my currency lasts for a long time is been a month now since ive recharged my account and I love it.id say that the other cellular service providers are in for some stiff competition.cant help it if something better comes out.

BSNL Pros & Cons
Mar 10, 2003 10:14 AM 19373 Views

I've been using BSNL's post paid conncetion for the last 3 months. Before that I was using BPL mobile.

Coverage wise BSNL is far better that other providers in Kerala namely Airtel, Escotel & BPL mobile. We live just 15 km from the Dt.HQ but the signals of only BSNL & ESCOTEL is available here. Again indoor coverage is of only BSNL(although feeble).

-------------------------------------------------------

Pros:

Coverage: Excellent (relative to others)Best sound quality

Roaming: All India Free Roaming - which is Excellent

Cost: Just 325/per month if you use only incoming calls. - Cheapest in India.Looking at this point more & more people can be mobuile with this service.

No netwrok busy message yet.

---------------------------------------------------------

Cons:

SMS: from BSNL we cannot send sms to all cell phones. Especially frm here(Kerala) no sms can be send to Mumbai or Delhi's other Networks. plus can't send sms to other countries.

No affiliation with yahoo! (so can't download ringtones or pictures!!!)

No affiliation with any banks (so can't use Mobile banking).

Online setrvice is very very low quality. If you want to get a BSNLman to talk through phone, we have to dial for long & several numbers.

Persons sitting there will be having no ideal of the status of the network or anything regarding the service they are selling!!!!!!!

Availability: Not easy. Atleast we have to go to BSNL's office 3 times if u want to get a conncetion.

Bill payment: stand long hours in -Q, otherwise get ready for disconnection.

Cannot bear the CellOnecommercial (Advertisement) shown in TV. Khatiya

---------------------------------------------------------

Bottom Line: All said & done- If u want to be mobile with below 500/month. Go for it. If u can afford more than that Don't go for BSNL. Go for Airtel or any other.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited.

One step taken by private Players in TELECOM , BSNL as always ahead of Every 1,as truly named CELLONE. Nice to such a great deal of concern by BSNL towards Indian Customer, they really know teh PULSE of being there.

I am very much impressed by the services that has been offered by CELLONE/Excel.Great to see them FIRING all over.

Private players BETTER watch out or LOOSE.

I Myself is using this service these days, and to be frank I have shifted from AIRTEL(LOST TEL)to the great BSNL.

The charges suit to the mood of indian consumer.

There is shortage of this prepaid card in central india and people are in QUEUEs to get that, this shows the demand of a great product offering.

More to come in future I suppose!!!!!!!!!!

Good Product No Service !!

I wanted to go in for CellOne, but never got to buy it. everytime I approached BSNL, they were perennially out of stock of SIM cards of both CellOne and Excel. CellOne seems to be being sold now and then as whenever I ask, they give a standard reply that 'it will come in 10 days' and for Excel 'it will come by next month'. The customer service exceutives do not know/have even the list of dealers, leave alone the stock position at the dealer end.

the product is good. the coverage is good. Decently reliable. real value for money among the GSM players (bit costlier compared to CDMA). But availability and service are almost near zero.

Go for CellOne/ Excel if you are too keen on GSM. You have better alternatives under CDMA (Tata Indicom/ Reliance Indiamobile)

(hey.. there is a romour that the employees keep the customers off so that the organisation is put on the block for sale/ privatisation so that they can get a better pay packet/ VRS. Are the higherups watching ?/)

CellOne for Every One

If you are planning to go mobile just try it.Currently BSNL is offering two type of connections. Excel for prepaid and CellOne for postpaid.I just change my service from Reliance to BSNL and just beleive it I just save 40% in first month.Billig system is fine you can receive your billing information round the clock.SMS is free in prepaid connection , zonal roaming is free in prepaid connection .National roaming is free in postpaid connection. It works all national highways and even in small town. You can download ringtones, picture message and operator logo through their service. So why you are waiting for TV.come mobile phone :)I think you are understand..no faida there.. Rs.20,000 is not a matter of joke and there is no roaming..You can go cellular with BSNL for just Rs.2500 ( Rs.2300 for handset and 200 for connection). So go for BSNL CellOne.

Coverage Rules. Network Sucks
Feb 12, 2003 06:23 PM 2856 Views

BSNL has turned out to be a wonderful mobile network i've used as for as the coverage is concerned. Here are some examples. No disconnections from Network while travelling from Kanyakumari to Bangalore by road Via, Tirunelveli, Kovilpatty, Sattur, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Karur, Namakkal, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Hosur and Bangalore. The network strength is almost full always. But, in Madurai and other big cities, coverage inside buildings is poor. You often become not reachable. When it comes to Network is concerned, You will not be able to make any calls without seeing the network busy message atleast thrice. And at times you will not be able to make calls at all. Incoming calls, will give you a beep and register as missed calls. Without getting 5 missed calls no incoming call connect successfully. Soming to SMS. You can send SMS to almost all networks and you cannot receive messages from Airtel Network. Most of all, any messages sent using the CellOne menu in the Sim card work. So, you cannot even check for cricket scores. So the suggestion if you are going to move to BSNL will be to Wait till BSNL upgrades it's backbone to hold more calls simultaneously. As for as billing is concerned, I cannot comment as I have to receive my bill yet and it's 5 days since it became one month of usage. Helpdesk probably would be a plain woodendesk. The service number in the mobile is mostly Not reachable and there are no tollfree helpdesk numbers

I Have Used BSNL Pre Paid Card In Gujrat, Network Is Good And The Great Thing is You Get Card In Just 200 Rupees And Free Creadit Worth of 100, SMS is Totaly Free And Incoming Calls From 10 Pm Till Morning 8 is Free, And Low Rate With Out Any Charge You Get Free Roaming All Over India Except J & K, And I Prefer When You Are From Out Side Gujrat or Where There Is BSNL Network You Should Buy The BSNL Card Only And Always Prefer The Bsnl To All Coz Its Make You Time Pass When You Are Alone Due To SMS Free,

BSNL Is Having Wide Network All Over India & Easy To Recharge and Card Is Valid For 120 Days So Should Buy It...

Hai everybody,

this is an information for my beloved mouthshut users and this time I want to focus on bsnl and mtnl upcoming offerings.so bonanza for everyone who has a friend or relative far away.so ladies and gentlemen from january 26 the long distance calls made through bsnl and mtnl that is std will be much cheaper than what it is charged currently. And for the local people the sad news is bsnl is thinking of increasing the local charges and planning to increase the local call charges which can be doubled and the circle of usage will be increased.so who will get benefitted.the current quality is acceptable by the customers who use bsnl not mtnl.will the gsm operators think of anything different to save their customers.only rpg cellular in chennai has given interconnectivity to tata cdma service.there are rumours that tatas may bid the long standing rpg and aircel in tamilnadu but we have to wait and see since rpg has given interconnectivity to tata.so lets wait for 26

Excellent coverage, low rates but non-existent hel

The pricing is much much lower than the competition in UP East(Essar),(and I gues sit's a lot lower than existing comp.anywhere in the country)the coverage a zillion fold better(nearly seamless coverage)while essar cover 4-5 cities and that's it. excellent voice quality. free sms, free roaming, free incoming.....real good VFM package.

howeevr the helpline is complately non-existent here. smsing on some networks is a lso nnot poss.(i can't send or recv smses to/frm the reliance mobile network in WB/Bihar/Orissa) though sms works fine for most other networks

the coverage is far better than most of the competitioninany other state, so roaming is a breeze too, and I get charged home network charges while roaming. ther's no airtime charge if u make a STD call(and that's the final clincher coz I make a lotta std calls)

Excellent

Hi friends...

I have taken a excel connection on nov 7.I found their service superb.Their coverage is really good. The free Zonal roaming is an attractive offer.Their Network coverage is really good.I found my co-passengers cells(other than BSNL) going out of range while I am able to use my BSNL Excel connection.Their network along all national highways are superb.Even inside lifts and buildings it is good.Once I got my handset locked due to a mistake of mine by entering a wrong password.I called up the BSNL helpline at 12 o' clock in night. The friendly voice from the other end guided me in the most appropriate way.I recommend BSNL for those who wanted to go mobile.
