Ennu Ninte Moideen – Genuine Love Story
May 03, 2017 04:58 PM3179 Views

Touching tale of Moideen and Kanchanamal separated by cultural differences and destiny still bonded together forever by love. Movie based on true ennu-ninte-moideenstory from 1960’s around the Calicut region, is blessed with some rocking performances from Prithviraj as Moideen and Parvathy as Kanchanamal, infact all co-stars and emotionally moving background music. You will instantaneously feel hooped together with the intense love between them due to the sincere narration by Vimal and the intensity that both Prithviraj and Parvathy shower to the characters invested upon them.

Music score is fabulous throughout the movie, especially Mukkathe Penne in particular was outstanding(song I play every time I step inside my car) and is sure to be long-remembered for ages. Movie is filled with dashes of thrill, anxiety and emotions. The climax scene at the hospital will surely have some eyeballs moist. Movie has taken love story of Kanchanamal and Moideen to evergreen and has been created well enough to depict the dedication, belief and immense love towards each other. The director has taken cognizance of the weather conditions and that adds flavor to the treat.

While performance of Pritiviraj and Parvathy takes the limelight, must say that character depiction by Saikumar, Lena, Tovino, Bala, Sudheer and others has to be appreciated.

Undoubtedly one of the best movie watched recently!

Life in all its glorious complexities, a love that challenges perceptions and of course endless rain -'Ennu Ninte Moideen', without going over the top has etched out a beautiful tale of all emotions that humans are capable of.

This real life tale's reel adaptation is realistic without the kind of melodrama that one associates with loves stories. Yet the intensity of the events that unfolds, with two orthodox Muslim and Hindu family, so defined by their religion, takes the blandness out of the narrative. From the word go, the story is gripping and intriguing.

Prithviraj You Did It Again..
Nov 12, 2015 02:04 PM7012 Views

I was not a fan of Prithviraj when he came into the movies and I have skipped many of his movies from theaters. But for past 2-3 years every movie he chose had a minimum guarantee. Slowly I bacame his fan.

Ennu Ninte Moideen is the real life story of Moideen and Kanchanamala and their love which cross the boundaries of cast and time. From the first trailer I was looking forward to this movie. It had a real nice look into it. I saw this movie on the release day and oh my god this movie was awesome.

The cinematography By Jomon t John was awesome. Every scene was like poetry. The cinematography in this movie is spectacular. The rain element I this movie adds an another nostalgic feel to the movie.

The songs by Jayachandran were really good and was apt to the situation. Bt what really stood out was the background music by Gopi Sunder. He took the movie to a whole another level. The song Mukkathe Penne was really apt and made the scene a little more intense and sad.

The other thing was the use of slow motion. Slow motion was really used well in this movie except one or two places.

Prithviraj and Parvathi had this amazing chemistry between them and it was a real treat to watch them together in the movie. Sai Kumar proved again that he is such a good actor. Lena too did her role justice.

All in all Ennu NInte Moideen is an awesome movie and it will be a shame if you  miss this movie.

One of the best movies I have seen in recent times. One can really experience what  true love is and that too taken from a real life incidence. It also narrates the pain of separation, that we leave the theater with a heavy heart and withheld tears.

Director is very successful in bringing back the old time with all its natural settings; The background score, the songs, the Calicut-slang everything mixed up in genuine proportion to make this movie a great entertainer.

A Genuine Love Story From Malayalam.. Must Watch
Oct 25, 2015 08:03 PM7405 Views (via Mobile)

What a magnificent story with great direction and cinematography. I can't believe that the film was directed by a debut director. It is said that the director took almost 7 years to complete the film. This itself shows his sincerity to the film.

Jomon T. John, had an epic comeback to films after a short period of time. He had done an amazing work to the film which made it, a blockbuster.

Gopi Sunder again made his eminence in background scores through the film with some amazing piece of'ringtone-to-be' scores.

Prithviraj, experiencing an increase in his prestige through the film, made all the teenagers and college students, their own'Prithvi'. His genuine way of acting will surely make him an award winner this year. Talking about the lead actress i.e Kanchanamala played by Parvathi Menon, was superb and had a stunning boldness and sensitive mind which made her a perfect heroine. The film had enough comedies without making the audience bore and had a twist and a sentimental climax. The supporting casts were superb especially, Appu played by Tovino Thomas and Sethu played by Bala. The camera and director showed their significance again very well in the climax scene. Unni Mohammed Sahib played by Saikumar, had a great sense of boldness and strong attraction towards his party as a Freedom Fighter in the film. Art Direction and Make-up was obviously great and magnificent as it is very strenuous and difficult to make a new film old or to make it in a background of 1960's. This film is an excellent example of Malayalam film industry and is certainly, a landmark film for the Malayalam Industry and hopes, for an another one like this.

Ennu ninte moideem
Oct 24, 2015 10:15 AM8738 Views (via Android App)

If you are aware about the tragic real life love story on which debutant director R S Vimal’s Ennu Ninte Moideen is based, you are waiting to be moved by what is to be seen on screen. It such a heart wrenching tale of unselfish love!

B P Moideen and Kanchanamala come from affluent households at Mukkam in Kozhikode. They fell in love during their youth but the romance was opposed by both their families as they belonged to different castes.

Kanchanamala was detained by her family but that didn’t affect their undying love for each other, which they continued through letters and the occasional meetings for the next two decades. Finally, before they could unite, tragedy struck and Kanchanamala still lives as Moideen’s wife, though they never got married officially.

Writer-director R S Vimal, who has earlier made a documentary on this tragic love story titled Jalam Kondu Murivettaval needs a pat on his back for packing this one deliciously. With spectacular visuals by Jomon T John, supported by good music, the film looks rich and intense.

But the problem is when the detailing goes overboard and the focus shifts from the protagonists to creating situation that gives more scope for its colourful frames.

As a result, they fall in love pretty quickly and the tension that the lovebirds go through has not been shown in depth. There are several vignettes that describe Moideen’s character and the way he fakes his injury after an encounter with the police early on, the funny speech that he does during a campaign and the play that he uses to mock Kanchana’s brother, in fact gives a confusing idea about his character’s nature as well. Of course, we won’t play spoilsports by describing more.

This one may not be perfect script, with certain characters missing midway and episodes that have been created just for an effect. It’s also surprising that the director did not mention about what happened to the real life characters on whom the film is based.

But you tend to forget it all as this one has its heart at its right place. Moideen and Kanchanamala’s decision to wait for the approval from their families for the wedding is perhaps noble and their yearning to come together remains as a burning pain in the minds of every viewer.

Though his ill-fitting wig and his trademark mannerisms are there as occasional distractions, Prithviraj has played Moideen in a highly impressive way, with lot of dedication. The hugely talented Parvathy is terrific as Kanchanamala, whose world begins and ends with Moideen.

In fact, most of the actors have done their job very well, especially Sai Kumar, Tovino Thomas and Lena.

Ennu Ninte Moideen is a tad too long at almost 167 minutes but the honesty with which the story has been narrated and the efforts that has gone into it makes this one a not to miss love story. Be ready to go on a nostalgic trail, which is quite emotional. Watch this one!

I am fond of watching some malyali movies though I am from Karnataka, recently I came across a movie with real story and here is the one packed thing  Ennu Ninte Moideen is the divine love story of Moideen and Kanchanamala, which dates back to the 19's.

The movie creates nostalgia of that era - the politics, people and language have been brought back to life.director R S Vimal and prithvi done their best to show of the movie at its range and it has a beautiful ending.

Soulful cinematic experience...!!!

Ennu Ninte Moideen: A Retrospect - The Best of 2015! The prime factor of a good movie, I consider, is ample amounts of emotion and, ‘Ennu Ninte Moideen’ is perfectly laced with apt amount of such emotions wherever needed. The movie started offering traces of thrill, and had an elevation which never took a drop.  For its being a real story, one must appreciate the director, RS Vimal for blending hard emotions in a layer of humor and rebellion perfectly.

The love story of Kaanchanamala and Moideen is purely evergreen; how were they able to expose so much of dedication, belief and love towards each other! Moideen was a real hero, he had the nerves of steel and a heart full of love, he is beyond doubts a personality of inspiration; not just for the affection he had for Kaanchana but also for the dedication he shown towards his land. While Moideen stands as an icon, there we have Kaanchanamala, epitome for boldness and perseverance! Along with them, the characters of Peruparambil Appu, Unni Moideen Haji and Kottatil Sethu had great prominence. When the characters are of such eminence, there requires actors of such caliber to perform them even. Prithviraj Sukumaran just lived as Moideen, he is one of the best actors I have ever seen! He is amazing me with his reputation and competence getting better by each movie. And, ‘Moideen’ lie as an example to prove his versatility in handling roles of any kind. His smile in the climax just filled my eyes! On par with Prithviraj, Parvathy pulls an equally brilliant performance as ‘Kaanchanamala’; had all the boldness and zeal for the character. She too is surprising me with her selection of challenging roles. While these two actors shine, Sai Kumar perfected as Unni Moideen, one of the strongest characters in the recent times, the same in case of Lena. Along with these actors, Tovino Thomas and Bala come out as a surprise package in their roles of Appu and Sethu; Tovino is gonna make it great!

When the story is eternal, there requires great skills to present it expressively on screen and this is where the director shine with immense support from the cinematographer and music directors.  RS Vimal exposed the skill of an experienced director in his debut movie itself; his seven years of hard work was visible throughout the movie; it is his deep acquaintance with the subject that makes Moideen and Kanchanamala close to the heart! Jomon T John captures frames of greater quality that makes ‘Ennu Ninte Moindeen’ a high level cinema; one of the best cinematographed movies in Malayalam. At the music side, M.Jayachandran, Ramesh Narayan and Gopi Sunder offer beautiful songs while, Gopi Sunder’s background score pulls the viewer’s nerve; damn so effective it was!

The soulful ‘Mukkathe Penne’ just raised the bar of emotion. Rafeeq Ahamed's lyrics were purely meaningful.  Mahesh Narayanan edited the movie perfectly with notable pace in certain sequences.  Even, the production values were rich with qualitative visual effects and sets offering that retro feel.

Overall, ‘Ennu Ninte Moideen’ is a soulful cinematic experience that brings one of the evergreen love stories close to our heart and thanks to RS Vimal for offering us this cinema! When the movie ended, the entire theatre was clapping and I sat there feeling the tears rolling on my cheeks.

Final Note: Must Watch; Undoubtedly the best movie of 2015!

The house was fully packed for the 8:45AM show on Screen 4, Prasad’s IMAX, Hyderabad in Dolby Atmos! This kind of applause and reception was never seen for a Malayalam Cinema; the atmosphere was exhilarating!

With heartfelt respect to Moideen and Kanchanamala…

Ennu Ninte Moideen is Impressive
Sep 26, 2015 10:29 PM8849 Views

'Ennu Ninte Moideen' is a moderate burner that welcomes its viewers to absorb themselves a convincing sentimental story that is judiciously drawn from genuine living. A terse, very much acted and amazingly made film, this staggering account of affection, appears to be a genuine festival of the delicate, hopeful soul that lies profound inside of it.

'Ennu Ninte Moideen' witnesses a tussle between its two lead on-screen characters - Prithviraj and Parvathy - that is gainful to the center, in that they defeat themselves and one another all the while. The musical score by M Jayachandran is a genuine enjoyment too, with lyricist Rafeeq Ahmed penning up the most suggestive of lines that laud the endless hold up that Moideen and Kanchana set out on.

A few lives have yarns to tell that are more odd than fiction, and the adoration story of Kanchanamala and Moideen is one such, that would rise above the tests of time. Some splendid films depend on such genuine stories, and Vimal can rest guaranteed that he has done fine equity in adjusting the greatly appreciated genuine account on to the wide screen.

Good romantic must watch malayalam movie
Sep 21, 2015 07:55 PM13129 Views (via Mobile)

'Ennu Ninte Moideen' is a slow-burner that invites its viewers to soak themselves in a compelling romantic tale that is prudently drawn from real life. A pithy, well-acted and remarkably crafted film, this devastating narrative of love, comes across as a true celebration of the tender, expectant spirit that lies deep within it.

Kanchanamala(Parvathy) is surprised when she receives an anonymous package at the Medical College hostel, from an admirer. She deciphers the message in it and discovers that the man who has confessed his love for her is none other than Moideen(Prithviraj), who is renowned as a budding Socialist at Mukkam. Love strikes, with disastrous consequences.

One does not exactly expect'Ennu Ninte Moideen' to break any new ground, since this is a story that thousands of couples have gone through - before and after Kanchanamala and Moideen came along - and yet, if it still manages to leave you all shaken up, its courtesy the honesty in its depiction and the countless ways in which it seeks to subvert our expectations of how it would all ultimately turn out to be.

Which is why the usual beats assume a spectacular power in the film, with the film maker and his performers infusing a rare might into this heartbreaking account of how everything - society, fortune, destiny and nature itself - transpires against a couple hopelessly in love, hurling them onto a whirlpool of doom.

Morris West would have been astounded at this fabulous account of waiting that goes on and on; of two love stricken souls who never waited for the storm, but instead unwearyingly lingered around for the tempest that had engulfed them, to pass by. That it never did is another matter altogether, but what makes their tale so radically dissimilar to any that we have heard before, is that they never failed to let the sunshine caress themselves, as they hung on to a frail strand of hope.

There are instances galore in'Ennu Ninte Moideen' that make you wonder of their authenticity, but its common knowledge that the oft-discussed real life tale, has enough twists and turns in it that will leave any listener astounded! Love is more of an intellectual quest here, and the body is peculiarly immaterial, as their finger tips that remain so close and yet so far away, prove time and again.

I would gladly disregard the minor hiccups here and there - like the few attempts to bring in a smile in the otherwise somber proceedings - and hand it over to Vimal, for having played it out evenly, and through some exceedingly striking dialogue let it gently crawl under your skin. The writing is top-notch without doubt, and the delicacy of those nuances never for once, let out of sight.

'Ennu Ninte Moideen' witnesses a tussle between its two lead actors - Prithviraj and Parvathy - that is productive to the core, in that they outplay themselves and each other in the process. Prithvi brings in a contrasting combo of might and vulnerability in his portrayal of the man who had marbles for eyes; who loved, lost and yet loved again. Parvathy is perfectly cast as the resilient Kanchanamala who lives on as an iconic representation of an effervescent romance that will continue to touch hearts for a very long time.

There is also Tovino Thomas, who in a relatively brief, yet tremendously significant role, stands out with his sparkling performance as Appu, and Bala as Sethu, the hapless brother who could only watch his sister being flung around by the twirls of fate. Lena and Saikumar excel in their respective roles as well.

It's nothing less than dazzling poetry that Jomon T John crafts on the screen, and'Ennu Ninte Moideen' is a visual spectacle of sorts, purely on account of this visual vivacity on show. The world where Moideen and Kanchanamala lived and loved, where it incessantly rains, is vibrantly brought to life by this immensely gifted cinematographer whose camera furtively follows the streaks of rain that pour down the aisles and rush down in a hurry to reach the Chaliyar river.

The musical score by M Jayachandran is a true delight as well, with lyricist Rafeeq Ahmed penning up the most evocative of lines that eulogise the never ending wait that Moideen and Kanchana embark on. The soulful background score by Gopi Sunder unobtrusively blends into the tale being told, resonating its tone to the hilt.

Some lives have yarns to tell that are stranger than fiction, and the love tale of Kanchanamala and Moideen is one such, that would transcend the tests of time. Some brilliant movies are based on such true stories, and Vimal can rest assured that he has done fine justice in adapting the much admired real-life chronicle on to the big screen.
