Experience using for one year

I've been using this laptop for one year, overall it's a no, It even lags when I do some text writing and power point and even crashes most of the time make me want to punch the screen so bad. Can't even handle video editing software even the simplest one. I'm not even getting started bout game, if you're searching for a laptop that's good for gaming and get the work done quickly you should not put this on the list

Searched for a great length of time to find the best laptop that fit my needs: portability, gaming, school, and aesthetics.

I believe that this laptop I purchased meets all of these requirements exceedingly well. The build quality is solid, and the soft touch material is very comfortable to type on. As for portability, it is pretty lightweight considering it IS a gaming laptop with a 15.6" screen built in.

When you first get this laptop, expect a lot of bloatware to remove. For me, I just went ahead and did a clean re-install of Windows 8.1 and reinstalled the ones I needed. Conveniently for me, all of the drivers are included in another partitioned drive, so that made it easier. Although it was a pain to update the NVIDIA driver to the latest, it wasn't a very big deal. What I did was Youtube "Update your Lenovo Y50 NVIDIA Drivers" by uploader Bee Ho and follow his instructions. Smooth sailing after that.

Battery

-

On average, I was able to achieve approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes with light usage, such as browsing the web, word processing and the like with power saving battery usage. Brightness down to one above the lowest setting. However, the battery performance while I was gaming dropped significantly. From 4: 30 hours to a mere 2 hour battery life while playing games. My testing only included Portal 2, League of Legends, Heroes of Newerth, and Path of Exile. However, I am not disappointed at all given this laptop's powerful hardware.

Keyboard

-

The curved ( red) backlit keyboard looks amazing especially with the black body surrounding it. The keys feel very satisfying to type on, and the keys are very well spaced out. However, my only gripe with the keyboard is the TINY Shift key, making me hit the up arrow key instead. However, it is very minor and I will get used to it. I wish Lenovo would have included a mute or music controls ( it has only volume up/down) in the keyboard.

Display

-

To my knowledge, this Y50 uses a TN matte panel display. As a result, I think the colors are a little bit washed, compared to my computer monitor. Despite this, the display is still decent, as it is full HD ( 1080p) . The same images and games that appear on this screen make me think it is a higher quality compared to the monitor on my desktop, and is quite stunning. If this screen was an IPS display, it would have been perfect, but nonetheless a great screen anyway.

You can also spend an additional $90 to replace the display if the TN panel display is the only thing holding you back. An IPS display panel that is compatible with this Y50 is the LP156WF4( SP) (D1) by LG found at ( [.]) . You can choose a matte or glossy panel, depending on your own personal preference. The replacement process is shockingly easy to do as well, and there is even a YouTube video demonstrating the process, which can be found at ( [.]) . There's also a thread with more information and a list of compatible displays also, found on Notebook Review ( [.]) .

Trackpad

-

One of the better trackpads I have used in a laptop since a long time. Although it isn't the best, finding a really good one is pretty hard. It looks sleek and is very smooth. The gestures work pretty well, even if there aren't that many. Pinch to zoom works pretty well, and two finger scroll is also pretty decent. I have not had any lags or freezes with the trackpad yet, so that is also very good. I believe this trackpad is suffice enough to work decently enough without a mouse, which for a laptop of this caliber, says a lot.

Audio

-

This laptop features a built-in sub-woofer located in the back. The sound quality of this machine is a lot better than what most laptops offer. Audio from this laptop is actually enjoyable, to the point where I don't find it necessary to plug in my speakers. I am not much of an audiophile but I know good sound when I hear it, and this laptop mostly delivers. A+ .

Upgrade-ability

-

The hard drive and RAM are relatively easy to upgrade as well. Huge bonus for this. On the back, you will see 12 Phillip head screws that you can unscrew to reveal the battery pack, RAM, and hard drive. The hard drive is held by 4 screws onto the caddy for easy replacement. The RAM sticks, as mentioned by the previous reviewer, is unfortunately a 2x4 ( 8GB) setup, which makes upgrading RAM to 16GB more expensive. Nonetheless, upgrading the hard drive to an SSD or RAM to 16GB is almost effortless. Definitely a bonus, + 1.

Hard Drive

-

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE consider to buying a good SSD along with this laptop. This hard drive is the only thing bottlenecking this entire system. It's slow 5400 RPM can become really slow and makes programs start unreasonably slow. Restart and boot times can reach up to a minute or even more in length. Just unacceptable for a laptop whose other components are high quality. I personally went with a Samsung 840 EVO SSD ( 250GB) . Boot times reduced drastically to 7-10 seconds and every program opens in under a second, which truly compliments the overall speed of the system.

Heat / Temperature

-

After playing several hours of Watch Dogs with steady 40-50 FPS with High settings at Medium Textures, sometimes over 60 in some areas, the laptop never got hot to the point where it becomes concerning. The CPU never reached hotter than 77C over the course of over two hour constant gameplay. The ( only) areas that get hot in this laptop are the JBL Branded Speaker area, as well as the hinge. Nowhere else on this laptop gets hot. The keyboard can get warm but not to any level of discomfort or enough to make you "sweat." Even after prolonged intense gaming, the laptop's fan noise was well controlled and was relatively quiet throughout. All of this plus the thin profile design of this laptop, deserves another A+ here.

Excellent performance but the issue is battery but I will charge quickly with the given brick size charge of 230 watts & On 92% it will cut off the charging for better life. Keyboard and display is very good. Gaming laptops doesn't not tpouch battery backup so keep this in mind so they won't give too much battery backupKeyboard and display is very good. The keypad layout is pretty bad for a gaming laptop.

cute, fast, definitely everything I was looking for in my laptop needs. And comes in a pretty color.

This is a good laptop that will serve you well, as long as you understand what it's intended for. There are plenty of laptops our there that cost more than this and offer the same thing or even less,

I found the laptop sturdy in it’s frame an cover.

I like the colour, it is ice blue and the color is very pretty.

Great Laptop with a few adjustments

This laptop is great if you do certain things. First, DO NOT USE AMD ADRENELINE SOFTWARE. DO NOT USE DRIVERS LISTED ON AMD WEBSITE. Simply go to Device Manager, right-click on display adapter(Vega 8), and upgrade driver from there. Also, download Razer Cortex, and use that for shutting down Windows processes while gaming.

Think 1000s times b4 buying Lenovo Laptop/device

Hi reader, I bought Lenovo Ideapad laptop from Brand showroom in Nehru Place(New Delhi) for approx. INR 40000. To be safer side I bought additional warranty for 3 years for INR 999.

The journey became very very unfortunate. Being handled very carefully, the base body ejected due to tight hinges within a year. Customer service was very clear that this is a payable repair and I need spend approx. 14000 for this repair. At the same time, Webcam stopped working. Laptop was still in warranty period, but Customer care informed very clearly first get repaired body issue then we will send technician for Camera check. I have tried to connect to high ups, but no one reverted. So, pathetic hardware and worst Customer care service. Now I looking for another laptop, probably HP or Dell. So, never buy Lenovo else you will regret. I thought I should warn the prospective buyers. However you are free to take your decisions. You can connect to me for more clarification.

Can't complain much about it considering price
Dec 01, 2020 07:58 PM 22999 Views (via Mobile)

So i bought lenovo ideapad 110 for my basic usage on flipcart 3 year's back, with configuration of amd A9 processor coupled with 8 gigs of ram for around 23k. I chose it because i had tight budget and wasn't sure about other options available at that price point. Everything was good until last month, since lst month keyboard is started giving trouble, some of the keys are not working suddenly. One day everything was fine next day it stopped working just like that. I have gone with Ubuntu for my laptop because of windows slightly felt slow on my machine due to it's configuration. Ubuntu is awesome and fast as compared to windows. Sound quality of internal speakers is not good enough. If you kept them on full volume, they started to give troubled noise. Battery life is lower than my expectations. Before this i had HP laptop which was able to give 2 hours of backup even after 3 Years of usage. So verdict is if you don't have any budget problem then go get awesome deal out there, don't go with lenovo ideapad 110. That's it.

My experience after using it for 8 months

I have been using this laptop from past 8 months, and my experience with this laptop is good. If you want to use it for office work and also want to use for editing work like Photoshop, flimora, hitfilm, then go for it but if you are looking to play high graphics games like gta 5, pubg, forza horizon then you will face much lag in the system. And sadly I faced problem in using premiere pro and after effect because these softwares need min 16gb ram. And at this price this laptop is best for me

Impressive

I have bee using this product for 2 years. I bought it for my college purpose. it is still working properly. I liked the backlight and sound quality( audio by Harman), fingerprint sensor and a full HD display. I have played heavy games like fifa19, Csgo in it without any lag. now, after 2 years everything is same, backlight working properly, display is very good, system updates comes regularly, every key in the keyboard is working, fingerprint sensor is also good . There is no Breakage and no dents, even it is charging at same pace.

Nice product by Lenovo.

Over all good laptop.

Previously I had asus 20k laptop which was very slow and very bad processor then my friend suggested to buy this and after buying this I'm not facing any problem I was facing with asus. It has i5 8250U which is good for every task and the programming which is the most of the thing I do on it. It has nvidia mx150 2 gb graphic card which can handle any game in hd setting. I wondered when I played GTA5 for the first time ever on this laptop and I couldn't just stop playing overnight. But only one thing that I realised they could give better is the display. I mean it has good hd display but I would be very good if they provided the full HD display. And that's the only thing I wished. But you forget everything when you will touch it and feel the smoothness it has. I play fortnite at medium setting with 60 fos, pubg pc with low setting 40 fps, tomb raider goty 60 fps medium and most of the games I played with medium and 60 fps. And fortnite I play every day without a single issue. I has good sound and dolby digital surround sound as well which make it even more realistic. Not like dolby atmos but gud surround sound. Good battery arround 3 hours of screen on time with high performance. And you can finish a movie and another almost without charging. It is best for every single thing you want to do except very gaming and streaming. Of course you would require more powerfull processor ( I t's just U processor ) and gpu as well. But best for normal gaming.
