Compaq Presario V2036AP

We purchased this laptop a year ago and one year later just after the warranty period, the laptop stopped working due to a hardware failure. We contacted HP support and took the laptop to the Kolkata service centre for repairs. The service centre was unable to detect the problem because the "test machine" was yet to be shipped from Bangalore!!! After a week of talking to the service personnel they were only able to quote Rs 15000/- as the motherboard had to be replaced, though they could still not tell us what the specific problem was. We also had to buy a data hub to backup the hard drive as the service centre had no such facility. Rs 15000/- seems to be standard quote for out of warranty laptops as the centre is unable to detect or resolve specific problems as is apparent from just waiting around the service centre and talking to other customers present. For a laptop that costs Rs 40, 000/- this is a rather steep amount to pay.

Eventually the only way we were able to get the laptop serviced in any reasonable timeframe (which was about 2 weeks) was to tell them that we would go to the consumer forum if our problem was not solved. And hey presto, within a day the problem was resolved. Its hard to believe that this is HP Compaq we're dealing with. I think I'll just stick with Acer who have a much better service setup and are much more customer friendly.

I have been using compaq presario V2036AP from last 1 year.... I think that compaq has done a good job in designing a laptop..... this laptop is sleek, light around 2.35 kg.... has hell lot of memory of 60gb.......with good Ram of around 256 mb...... the widescreen feature specially for dvd's is great watching dvd's, playing games on this model is really fun.....the 25% more pixel than normal laptop further increases its resolution...... also the processor is P4 with 1.7 GHz speed which is good one for any application to work......it has all the features of a laptop of higher price range have..... when I bought it was around 67500 rs I think by now price must have slashed...... warranty is of 1 year

basic prob with compaq laptops is their touch pad which looses its color after sometimes, in thi beginning it was sticky and was tough to use , I had to put powder to make it soft but after a while smoothness increased but it lost its texture....

over all I think its a laptop with latest technology backed up by aesthetic design.
