The sluggish performer thats not for multi tasking
Sep 24, 2015 12:24 PM 33820 Views

Bought this last year for my son and have been very aggressively trying to sell it off late .

The biggest lesson that I take away from this deal was I will never ever buy a machine with just 2gb of  RAM. Especially if  the RAM upgrade is almost impossible .

Every hardware component is completely encased   and not in any separate compartment, not even the battery and to upgrade the ram I will have to rip open the complete unit. One needs to dissemble every component before one can reach The DDR3  RAM .

What a waste .

I dropped  the idea of  upgrading it myself as I will have to dig deeper and calling Asus to do it means a very heavy expense .

Instead  I have put up an Ad on Olx  to get rid of it at 11k .

Not that its not worth what I paid for it.  This laptop came along with windows 8.1 Bing,  pre -installed was "free-update-upgraded" to a windows 10 about a month ago . It's a legal copy .

But the lack of support for   high end -gaming which my son wants and video editing softwares / web development softwares  running sluggish meant it was suitable only for simple jobs .

Yes 2 gb of ddr3 RAM is enough to run simple application and slim games . But anything that's a memory hog or a graphic intensive tends to freeze  the lappy .

Its okay for home users who just need to run maybe a windows  office or  watch youtube, browse the web and watch movies / listen to songs .

The lappy is powered by the cele_45ron Quad Core @ 1.83GHz  with turbo boost upto a 2.16 GHZ.

The HDD is a standard 500 GB and there is  no DVD drive . There is also a slot for for full size SD card.

There are 2  usb slots on the left one being usb 3.0 . we seriously needed  one more usb slot . We do have an HDMI out which is full size . An RJ 45 port for LAN connectivity and an audio 3.5mm  jack . It also has  a VGA port for Anasultanlog-video- out.

The 15.6 inch TFT screen is average and  the display blurs when we look at it from angles even minor angles . You will find yourself frequently tilting and adjusting the screen angle and swapping USB devices as its 1  port,  too short .

The VGA camera is as  ordinary as it gets and the sound output volume is so low,  it's mandatory to use an external speaker . The windows came preinstalled with a lot of Asus bloatware that I had  to either remove or suppress.

The battery back up is decent and under ideal condition can give upto 4 hours . though after 10 months of  usage its dropped to under 3  hours now .

Yes,   it has  bluetooth and wifi  connectivity,  that obviously is expected from any laptop

This is a buy for students, housewives and for non- serious users . Those who are into some serious work that  demands good resources don't even think about it  unless you are confident of  upgrading the ram to a min 4 gb ddr3 . It has just 1  memory slot so if  you are upgrading you will need to dispose  the 2gb ddr3  that will come off .

In a nutshell. Its a buy for simple tasks and single tasking only . It's capable enough of  working with multiple browser tabs but the performance starts  to suffer  the moment you open 2 or  3 applications .

You see  you get what you aishwaryasingh23 for and I paid  just 18.5K  for  this one . I still like this machine as  its  anyways a good value for money . One must know  that they get a legal of windows  8 copy preinstalled .

The build quality is  average . the keyboard is a chick let, island key type, big enough but seems a little fragile . The touchpad is good and wide enough .

The lappy is neither too slim nor too bulky, neither too heavy nor  too portable . Infact its average in most respects .

A lessons or  2  to learn here - 1. never buy 2gb ram models   2. never buy machines that encase every hardware component and need to be completely ripped off for a simple upgrade like RAM / battery. We need  easy user accessible compartments at least for  the ram / battery and HDD.  Don't we? 3. never buy Units with just 1 memory slot .

Pls leave your thoughts about it and let me know .

The day i'm able to dispose it off for 11k which is a good price I feel both for  the buyer and me i'm looking to buy the very compact HP Pavilion 300-010IN Mini Desktop(4th Gen Core I3/2 GB/500 GB/Win 8.1) or an Intel nuc the size of a tiffin box and upgrade them  which should be easy, having acquired some skills while working for  HP and Dell in the past .

We  are moving into an era where the Pcs fit onto a palm, palm-tops is  the new age buzz.I welcome this transition from the mammoth desktops to the ultra slim mini pcs like Intel Nucs and mac minis .

I use  the Asus laptop with:-

  1. Gavik 8 way surge protector with 2 USB charging slots in-built . 2. Samsung Full HD 22 inches monBrianbalakumaranr, Syncmaster S22B370, connected via HDMI out. 3. F & D mini soundbar 4. Logitech K330 wireless combo with unifying support .

Nice laptop with good battery and average screen
Sep 11, 2015 01:09 PM 5875 Views

I used Asus XX553MA-BING-SX376B laptop for about 2 months. It has Windows 8.1 which is nice smooth operating system and booting time is very fast. I really liked its battery backup which is about 4-5 hours on average. But I didn't liked its screen resolution. I watched some HD Videos which were not clear enough but it was just ok. Sound output was also good if you use it in a quite room and listen to some songs. I did not noticed any hanging problem because it has 2.16 Ghz quad core processor with 4gb Ram. Front Camera was also good if you want to video chat on skype, etc. So overall its a nice laptop with very good battery backup, good speed but average screen.

Wonderful product except memory issue
Sep 10, 2015 03:10 PM 3861 Views

Bought ASUS Eeebook online in red color. Its a beautiful laptop for those are looking for something lightweight and stylish. The touchpad is very smooth and easy to scroll. Infact the two-finger scroll is really good and similar to Mac.

I got a very good deal where along with the laptop I received one year Windows license free and 1 month McAfee license free. The only problem I have faced with laptop so far is its low memory. But this can anyways be resolved by adding a memory card or external hard drive.

A product worth buying.

Using it...to review it
Sep 09, 2015 06:47 PM 5346 Views

I personally can not say that I chose this laptop for my personal or professional use. It was in fact a part of the package for my college course. They gave all the students this laptop. But then again, any laptop is better than none.

Anyhow, I used this laptop with a lot of excitement because it was officially my first. I downloaded all those softwares and apps on my laptop which I always used on other peoples laptops.

I love the size of the screen, as I always watch a lot of movies it turns out to be very convenient for me. I mean who doesn't love a big screen?

But then again there is always a downfall. My laptop is very slow sometimes! It unexpectedly crashes, it hangs, we can't copy a large amount of data without it hanging for a good amount of time.

But luckily, for now I use it for my personal as well as office use and I am not having any major issues, just that it is comparatively slow.

All in all, for a laptop which comes as cheap as this one I think its worth the buy in case you do not use it for any heavy works.

Decent laptop for day to day use
Aug 31, 2015 09:45 AM 35013 Views

This 15.6 inch tft color screen laptop is powered by the Intel Pentium Quad Core N3540(2.16 Ghz) processor, uses 4 Gb of ddr 3 ram clocked at 1600mhz  and is priced around 22k.

The  laptop is  nothing exceptional but for  the price point I feel its a great value for money product .Not Many laptops these days will offer both 4gb and include a DVD drive at this price .

hardware specs:

You would obviously expect a bluetooth and wifi enabled device which it is . We also expect to see  at least 1  hdmi port and 1  usb  3.0 port which again it has .

We also have 2  more  usb 2.0 ports .With the hard disk drive @ 500gb and pre-installed licensed version of  windows 8.1 the device does not disappoint . Lets not forget most lappies/ notebooks  now ship with either DOS or UBUNTU these  days as the licensed version of windows 8.1  alone costs  upwards of  7.5  k

Yesterday I upgraded to windows 10 and  the experience is still quite smooth, the multi-tasking isn't all that bad  and  the machine remains quite responsive . I must say i'm too  convinced that everyone should upgrade to a windows  10 as  long as the hardware supports it, its a big big technology leap .

One also gets a 2 in 1 card  slot,   a Super Multi DVD, a 3.5  mm audio out port and built in speakers along with an inbuilt mic;  I think that's  everything one needs. Of course  we  should also expect the RJ45 port which it surely has for a wired internet connection using the lan cat5/ 6  cable .

Though the  quality of  the webcam which is vga, the mic and  the speakers is quite ordinary just like  the build quality of the laptop is . But we should not expect too much at  this  price and I feel Asus has  really done a very decent job of  combining very good specs at a low  price .

The touchpad  is smooth, large enough and works as expected  and so is  the chiclet style keyboard big,  nice and spaced out, though it's a little flimsy and kind of elevated in the centre area and gives you the feel of  - "hey!  the keys might pop out ."

The warranty is 1 Year Global In-site Warranty against manufacturing defects only .

pros:

very quick boot up

windows  8.1 pre-installed upgradable to windows 10(one heck of an awesome upgrade)

Super multi DVD drive

usb 3.0  x  1

An impressive battery backup @4-5 hours with moderate use(Its dropped to 2  hours 45m after about an year .)

cons

flimsy keyboard and ordinary build quality.

at 2.4  kilos  it's neither too slim or too light.

The  inbuilt mic / speakers and Vga cam are quite ordinary, the speaker  max volume  output isn't loud  enough. The mics noise cancellation is poor and  the cam displays very pixelated output

The TFT screen is fine if  you are sitting right in front but becomes fuzzy and dull  from angles .

Every hardware component is encased and hence user -inaccessible including the battery .

Verdict-   It's a buy though not a compulsive one . Those on a budget should definitely eye this one . It's almost a must to have an additional  separate web cam / sound system/ external microphone headset .i personally like the F & D mini sound bar that can be table as well as wall mounted . The LX-3000 from Microsoft is recommended for recording and listening to audio . While the former cost me an addition 650 INr the former 1850 INR.

I use  the LX-3000  for recording my youtube videos FYI. My webcam is the logitech C270 HD since the inbuilt fails to deliver quality.

Really a very cute and compact laptop.
Aug 22, 2015 02:05 PM 5496 Views

I bought this cutie last month from flipkart for 14, 999 rs. Flipkart's packing and delivery was very good I have to say. They packet it as if they are transporting a baby in a box.

Coming to the laptop, It's really awesome for my requirements. I bought the white varient and it is really good. There is no fan, hard disk, optical drive and other moving parts so the battery lasts for more than 10 hours. I can watch 3 movies continously and it plays 1080 p HD videos like anything. Really awesome.

I updated it to Windows 10 and it comes with Windows 8.1 out of the box. And Windows 10 is running smoothly in this device. So if someone who already have this device is in dilemma whether to upgrade it to Windows 10 or not, just go for it. You wont regret.

The greatest drawback is the memory. It comes with only 32 GB of internal memory out of which only 18-19 GB is available for user. But no problem it can accomodate an SD card and you can insert a 64 or 128 GB SD card and forget about it. Also you get 1 TB of cloud storage in one drive and 500 GB in Asus webstorage for 2 years. I dont kno what will happen to your data after this period if you dont pay.

So if you already have a laptop or desktop with higher configuration and searching for a secondary notebook, then this is the perfect choice.

Who have to buy:

  1. If you travel a lot and you need a notebook to be used in bus or train or flight.

  2. If you already have a primary machine and seeking for a secondary laptop.

  3. Girls especially who dont want to carry a lot of weight. It weights only 950 grams.

  4. If office works, PDF reading, Movie watching, Songs listening is your primary requirement.

  5. If your budget is 15, 000.

Who should not buy:

  1. Heavy gammers.

  2. Heavy software users like photoshop and other graphic designers.

The asus eeebook is a cheap laptop but wait, cheap? does it mean bad? nope

The laptop weighs only 980g, which isn't even a KG. The laptop has a screen, small for others but enought for me. The battery is excellent and the laptop runs smoothly too.

Speed: The laptop does my basic work like browsing, split screen multi tasking, using microsoft office with ease, it functions absoultely smoothly and I havent seen even a bit of lag since I bought it in May.

Battery; I left my laptop on sleep in the night, I forgot to switch it off and to my surprise, I had 60% battery still left the next night. The battery is too good, asus promises 12 hours but I haven't checked how many hours it last, it lasts me more than a day without charging, I dont use much in a day.

What else? Extra goodies

1 years of Microsoft 360 subscibtion is included in the box, more than 500GB of cloud storage was gifted to me by asus.

On a whole, I love this parter of mine, portable, low consumption, last long and does all of my work with ease.

Basic + Gaming Laptop Under 30K
Jul 24, 2015 04:04 PM 3598 Views

We can expect something with X552Cl, the Asus new model Laptop. After suing some hours I can feel that, they provide what they can best at the price tag of 270000/-.

A little about the specialization needed before we go far. It comes with third Generation i3 Processor, loaded with Ubuntu. A 4 Gb DDR 3 RAM and 500 GB HDD for a decent Use.

For those who are considering basic gaming laptop it can used. Because it has 1GB Nvidia 710M graphic card is on board.

Come to the Display, Z552cl have tft screen, but its not okke to watch HD movie. As from Windows score it has 45. I think it doesn't has the latest hardware configuration. Such as USB 3, Bluetooth 4 etc.,

Also WiFi adapter is not Good as compared with Dell laptops that we can buy under 30000/- . Why I say is that because, if we use this WiFi for more that 4 hrs, it will disconnect automatically and re connect it.

Some times we need to do it manual. I hate this because while downloading software and movies from paid sites, if Internet connection failed at that time, I needed to start it again from beginning.

It is oke to watch movie, but didn't get a great feel while watching HD or 4K. Also battery performance is little disappointment that because, I got a max of 3 hrs.

At all point of view, I think X552Cl give us an excellent performance and stability made for low price expect the battery. If you are an business person or those who travel frequently, I am not recommending this laptop.

Simply rocking in 14 k segment
Jun 19, 2015 06:08 PM 5848 Views

Simply rocking performance and shaken the 14 k segment. Combination of tablet with laptop features simply make this machine amazing .build quality, design, performance are gud but its lacks in department like webcam, Ethernet issue but after looking at its price its worth a lot more then its price.

pros:

a. build quality and design is impressive.

b. No issue in Typing run easy and smooth.

c. Responsive Touchpad  no lag issue yet

d. sound quality is decent

cons:

a. webcam quality is below average can be used for occasional skype etc.

b.  16.6 GB space from 32 GB recovering partition takes 10 GB so SD card is Must

c. No Ethernet port so USB to RJ45 converter

even though I know the cons but its a Good buy.

Perfect .. in all respects..
Jun 13, 2015 12:20 PM 8060 Views

ASUS X555LA. first talk something about its specs.

  • 4 GB ram, 500 GB hard disk capacity, Intel core i3, 15.6 inch size screen

The laptop is best. and cant get even better. I brought this product at RS 22000 in a sale. and it full fills my every requirements. the laptop is a everyday use laptop. I used it daily. and used it roughly. but the laptop runs as smooth as it was runs on the first day.

The keyboard has back lights. An added advantage.because I had checked dell's laptops too. same configuration. are costlier then asus. and didnt have back light on key board.

In some laptops I had seen that. when you viewed from top of the screen you will see a little brighter screen and when viewed from a below. more darkness. but there is no problem in it. seen perfect at all angle.

I had installed the windows 8.1 in this.

All ports are in the side of the laptop. and not on the back. so its easy to connect anything. there are USB ports. VGA port. HDMI port. can insert miscro sd card too.

The battery runs well. and if I used the laptop with lowest brightness. it runs for 4 hours easily.( when fully charged)

The laptop is a little heavy. That's the only thing I didn't liked in it. otherwise. a perfect laptop. a keep your eyes closed and buy it laptop.

Awesome Machine
Jun 09, 2015 10:08 PM 5558 Views

The eeeBook is a great laptop/notebook from ASUS. The design is very sleek, light weight and works pretty well. The screen and the keyboard are pretty well made. The large touch pad is excellent. Everything we want in a basic laptop. And if you don't use many apps like photoshop, etc., then this is the laptop for you. It just boots up in 3 seconds.

Pros:-

1) Small, lightweight and extremely portable,

2) Has extremely long battery life(once I got about 16 hours),

3) Fast and reliable if you stick to word processing and browsing.

4) Runs processor intensive programs like Mathematica 10.1 pretty well(still have to try OriginPro 9.1 though)

5) Typing experience is decent.

Cons:-

1) Windows 8. Well this is kind of my personal opinion but I absolutely hate windows 8. And using it on a non touch screen netbook like this one is a nightmare.

2) What is worse is that you can not install linux over it. Or even if you can(after a LOT of effort) it wont work quite well.

3) The image quality becomes bad if you are not looking directly.

There are some other problems too like the case being a fingerprint magnet, but I tend to overlook those considering the cost.

Simply Elegant!
Jun 08, 2015 10:17 PM 4959 Views

The product is just master class! It doesn't even feel like an atom processor. Multitasking is smooth, Boot time is less, Power consumption is low and Display is crisp. Overall a great product for its price. The look and feel is great along with the simple and sleek design.

PROS:

1.Superbly designed and pure stylish look. Premium looks n feel.

2.Daily performer in works like web browsing with ease with 6 tabs open in chrome while writing this review along with 3-4 apps open. Multitasking is looking super as promised. Movies, Songs are loud enough good speakers.

  1. Unbelievable battery backup up to 10-12 hours on full charge!

  2. Nice keyboard easy to type.

  3. A great touch pad with gestures support

  4. Windows 8.1 plus 1TB oneDrive Storage plus 500GB ASUS storage on cloud plus office 365 free!

7.Overall brilliant and Awesome! m luvin it!

CONS:

  1. Only 2 gigs of RAM but it hasn't been a problem at all! around 1GB free initially and with 3-4 apps running including chrome with 6 tabs open I still have 500-600 MB available!

  2. 32GB EMMC is limited but who will store movies n songs there? It's only for app installation for me coz I purchased 1tB external HDD plus 1.5TB cloud storage free!

Finally I can say for daily normal usage its a great choice!

Good laptop and best price
May 30, 2015 03:16 PM 3252 Views

Build quality/style: 9/10

this is a pretty good looking laptop, its very thin and there is a brush aluminum looking plastic for the keyboard outline. they keyboard has a nice touch easy to type. the touch pad is very nice and large. the laptop has a solid feel to it. it has about 3-4 hr battery life which is very nice. one downside is that the battery cannot be taken out but its ok. the laptop is all black

performance: 8/10

this laptop has the latest generation intel Celeron 1.5Ghz, 4GB RAM, 500HDD its pretty fast for the price that I paid the laptop start up in 9 second. I hv not try to play game on this laptop because I know it wouldn't do good. this is average computer for watching some movie, photo, music and internet. and that's why I bough this in the first place. I needed a simple laptop. window 8 is good.

overall its pretty good laptop it gets the job done, I got the best deal for this. loving it. I love this laptop it does exactly what I wanted to do. must buy

Asus Laptop X43SJ
Apr 27, 2015 10:10 AM 3443 Views

I am hereby writing a review of my Asus Laptop, i am really happy owning such a machine. I brought it almost nearing 4 years back and till date it works just super awesome.

I had got this when ASUS was not that well known in the Indian Markets, but some how made up the decision and really happy with the product.

I got it at a price of 34, ooo Rs. with very extravagant specifications, perhaps the most powerful in that time and even not outdated yet.

I contains a i3 2nd GEn processor, 500 GB hard disk, whopping 6 GB RAM, 1 GB Nvidia Graphic Card, CD-Writer and a 14 Inch Screen with almost 4 hrs of battery backup.

Most important thing here is till date i have not incurred any cost for product maintenance and the battery still last for almost 2 and half hours.

What else you want, Isn't it a great product to buy!!!!

Well budget Laptop - X550 Series
Apr 14, 2015 05:31 PM 13473 Views

I was in search for a laptop from last 3 months, had searched a lot with almost covering all the popular brands including Dell, HP, Lenovo etc but finally my search ends here when I found Asus X series. This laptop is very nice and its not only as per my budget but also the full of config for which I was looking for.

I bought this laptop online from Snapdeal site in the month of November last year and using  this since then without facing any problem. It is very smooth when it comes to multitask & performance. It is as per my convenience & budget.

I am listing some basic features here though the details are available on multiple sites.

  1. Processor: CPU 1.8-GHz dual-core i3  [comes with Pre-loaded Operating System Windows 8]

  2. RAM: 4GB RAM

  3. Hard Drive: 500GB

  4. Display Size: 15.6 inches

  5. Resolution: 1366x768

  6. Graphics Card: 2GB Intel HD Graphics Card

  7. Wi-Fi enabled

  8. Bluetooth 4.0

  9. USB 3.0 Ports

Playing games on this surely gives you great experience & fun. I also use this laptop for my office work. Whenever I get free time, I started playing games as it provides 2GB NVidea graphics card with better display quality. Also battery back up is fare which allows to run continuously for 4 Hrs. It also provides auto brightness feature. The Sound quality is also very good and accurate. Thanks to its large space & dimensions, it comes with a full size keyboard and number pad which provide typing very efficient. Its auto defined functions keys is also very useful with shortcut keys for various features. it comes with 0.9 megapixel webcam that allows for good picture quality to chat or video call with my buddies.

This laptop comes with 1 Year onsite warranty so don't hesitate to try this one if you are looking for a laptop.

I have not mentioned Price anywhere in my review as it may vary time to time :-P

The notebook is good but Asus service is very poor. Display LCD if poor quality and when delivered for warranty repairs /service

The service agent points fingers at asus  for not sending the replacement. Mails sent regarding this contains no specific assurance regarding repairs. I hope the asus service in India goes back to its old status. Asus should not try and save money by giving the service agency to persons of very little repute
