I have always had a good experience with Asus so I thought I'd invest in this laptop
as far a build materials, I like it and I don't know why others thinks that it is cheap plastic but bear in mind that this is the first quality laptop I ever bought so I can't really compare it to other brands or models. and I am a very heavy user that requires as much as a machine could offer, I use it for gaming, university, programming, running multiply virtual machines at once, .etc
I would totally recommend this investment and it is worth every penny.Best thing I have bought in my life, for a gaming laptop its just a killer and even more because of the price, for real, fast memory, fast disk r/w, fast CPU, fast GPU, man this gen of gaming laptops is just insane.
Now I'm old and you younglings might not know this but laptops used to be this hot with just regular laptop boring old guy work like Lotus Notes and Microsoft Powerpoint on Windows 98. Except now it gets hot when you're running around fragging people in BF1 in full glory. So for me, it's not that warm. I've had no overheat issues but I was playing with it sitting on a wooden TV tray on the couch. I've had a laptop shut down due to heat laying a bed surfing the web back in the day so to me it's working as designed here. yeah it's warm on the bottom, but the keyboard/top isn't even noticeably warm so far. I'll keep poking at it but for now I think the thermal concerns are overblown.
Everything is fine for me. There is two things you may be uncomfortable with: Firstly, it comes with a lot of bloatwares. So you may need a fresh and clean install. Secondly, trackpad is a bit noisy even when you tap on it there is an audible sound. That might be annoying for some of you. But I am fine with it since I use a mouse.
Overall, the performance of the laptop was good when I tested it, but all gaming laptop should be at this level of performance. Out of the box it runs well,
