Hello everyone!

My name is Priyansh Gupta and I am going to review Transformers 2-revenge of the fallen!

-In year 2007, Michael Bay(director of transformers) took popular children’s cartoon show "Transformers" and turned it into a multi-million dollar film. With his success of the first time, he started work on transformers once again.

-this film is continuty of transformers 1 in which optimus dies fighting with megatron and new prime"fallen" which was villen was trying to distroythe sun. Optimus was brought to life by sam witwiki. and then there was a big fight between optimus and fallen.

This was one of my favourite movies I have ever seen!

According to my opinion, I recommend to use this product.

Thank You.

Michael Bay admits it’s bad you know how bad it is
Apr 27, 2015 10:49 PM 2518 Views

In 2007 director Michael Bay took the formerly popular children’s toy franchise Transformers and turned it into a multi-million dollar film franchise. With the success of the first, a sequel was immediately green-lit and Bay given the reigns once again. Having introduced the main characters in the first film, he took the opportunity to expand the Universe considerably in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Having defeated Megatron(Hugo Weaving) the Autobots and US military agree to work together going forward as part of a new initiative called NEST. While on a mission to Shanghai, Optimus Prime(Peter Cullen) learns that a powerful Transformer, The Fallen, is about to return and this could mean devastation for planet Earth. Meanwhile, Sam Witwicky(Shia Lebouef) leaves his girlfriend Mikaela(Megan Fox) and Autobot friend Bumblebee behind and goes off to college. Before leaving he finds a shard from the Allspark in an old T-shirt which causes him to start hallucinating and seeing Cybertronian symbols that lead him to The Fallen.

The action scenes between the transformers themselves may well be exciting, but the camera is so close that all the audience can see is cogs whirring in their abdomens. Speaking of abdomens, whenever Megan Fox is on screen, the camera leers toward her, taking in every possible curve or piece of flesh. It’s an uncomfortably voyeuristic and really has no place in a blockbuster aimed at selling toys to children. His use of product placement, a necessity in film-making, is so brazen that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen becomes more like a two-hour advert for cars, soft drinks and mobile phones.

Over all Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is a complete creative fail, offering nothing new, exciting, original or remotely enjoyable during its bloated running time.

The worse symptoms of aiming big instead of great
Apr 14, 2015 09:54 PM 2696 Views (via Mobile)

"Autobots, roll out." The best part of Transformers 2 Revenge of the fallen is Peter Cullen's voice dub. And the rest is the epitomy of godawfullness.

This movie represents the worse symtpoms of aiming big instead of great. You rarely find a filmmaker other than Nolan, Cameroon and Spielberg who has married these two ironies - big and great - together. And together perfectly.

Nolan is a masterful storyteller. Cameroon is a technocrat and a visionary whereas Spielberg is both Nolan and Cameroon, put together.

It's tempting to dismiss Michael Bay's long, loud and ludicrous sequel to 2007's Transformers with one word — hunkajunk. On every level this movie is as bankrupt as GM. But there is more to be said about a movie this gargantuan($200 million spent on robot hardbodies) and galactically stupid. Transformers: The Revenge of The Fallen is beyond bad, it carves out its own category of godawfulness. And, please, you don't have to remind me that the original was a colossal hit($700 million worldwide) and the sequel will probably do just as well. I know it's popular. So is junk food, and they both poison your insides and rot your brain. But I do accept that Bay is unique. No one can top him for telling a story with such striking, shrieking incoherence.

Bay picks up the Transformers story by sending Sam Witwicky(Shia LaBeoufelling every line of dialogue) off to college, leaving behind his mechanic girlfriend Mikaela(Megan Fox). Let's pause a moment and talk about Bay and his masterful objectification of women. He intros Fox in tight shorts, bent over a motorcycle. I can almost hear Bay behind the camera like a porn director who's captured a clone of Angelina Jolie: "Push that testicles out, Megan, twitch it. Now turn, bend, show the rack. Now lick those lips, pout that pout. Hey, makeup, we need more lip gloss." He even brings in another hottie, Isabel Lucas, as Alice, another student who never cracks a book. I assume this is Bay U. Alice gives Sam tongue in ways you won't believe.

Oh, where was I? Yeah, the bots. Sam also leaves behind his first love. That'd be Bumblebee, the yellow Camaro who morphs into Sam's robot guardian angel when needed. He's letting his friends the Autobots, led by Optimus Prime(voiced by Peter Cullen), work out their differences with the feds. But what of the devious Decepticons, led by Megatron and The Fallen? Do you think they'll escape confinement and try to destroy the world in battle scenes where you can't tell who's fighting who? Do you think Bay cashes his paycheck?

The plot devolves into a chase story in Egypt and the destruction of the pyramids. More importantly, the story answers the question of who will say "I love you" first — Sam or Mikaela? I'll never tell. I have to salute Bay for helping to create two of the most offensive bots in screen history — Skids(Tom Kenny) and Mudflap(Reno Wilson), Chevy concept cars who do black stereotypes in ways that would shame Jar Jar Binks.

But I've said enough. Go ahead, have your senses senselessly pounded for two and a half hours. And, please, it's not that I hate robot movies. I stand second to no one in admiring the power and dark poetry that James Cameron brought to the first two Terminator films. I even have a dream that the great bots of movie history — Robby, Gort, HAL, R2-D2, C-3PO, the alien from Alien, the sentinels from The Matrix and all the Terminators — will one day march on Bay, who is the true Decepticon. Disguised as a human director, Bay is actually a destroyer of dreams. When Hasbro invented those Transformers toys, the intention was for kids to use their imagination about what those bots would morph into. Bay crushes that imagination with his own crude interpretations that seem untouched by human hands and spirit. I'll tell this one thing to leave a smile on your five year old's face. Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime is brutal and the soundtrack composed by Linkin Park is gargantuan. The rest? Don't ask me to ping again.

P.S. Ping! Where is the zero-starred rating ms?

Just Sit Back And Enjoy!
Dec 28, 2009 11:32 PM 2422 Views

Everywhere critics were panning this movie down saying that it has got no script, no logic etc. etc. I have seen Michael Bay previous works and I am not a big fan of his, but this one will count as one of his better works, not in terms of the best storyline, but it is his best work in being true to the concept. By concept I mean the concept of Transformers - which is supposed to be a action movie, no deep plots, no deep thinking required, just sit back and enjoy the fights between the Autobots and Decepticons.

The criticism of the previous movie and this one is on similar lines, the focus is not on robots, last one was more of a teenage love story and here this one although features more fight between robots but we don't get to know them as characters, they are more like fighting machines. The one good thing I liked about this movie was that when one of the main character dies everybody in the theater were shocked and felt sad, that I would say is a big compliment to the director, the sadness and the shock in the entire theater was palpable, everybody would have felt the same. About the performances, Shia LaBeouf is average in his character and Megan Fox is there just as an eye candy for the audience, both don't get much time to showcase their acting skills, nothing to take away from them as this movie is not based on them, its a transformers movie, not any college comedy.

I felt that the action scenes in this one are too confusing at times, especially when there are too many robots crammed in one scene. Except for autobots like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee who are distinguishable because of their color, most of the robots look similar, especially the decepticons. The facial features are not visible in fast paced action scenes. Here the technique of showing action scenes in slow motion could have been applied which would have helped to some extent. Except the clarity part the action scenes are out of this world, other directors could not even dream of such scenes and Michael Bay has managed to put them on screen, that is in itself a monumental achievement. The ending scene got too long for comfort, it could have been curtailed by at least 5-10 minutes. Other minor flaws are there which I won't disclose here as it would act as spoilers.

Even with some weak points the movie just blows you away with the sheer scale of it. And do watch it in a theater, the sound effects and the special effects are too good and can only be enjoyed with a superior audio and video system. Go and experience this one on big screen, some movies are just meant for fun and enjoyment, this one is one of them!

Transformers.............a visual extravaganza
Nov 30, 2009 08:44 PM 2307 Views

Forget the story. the plot is simple. has a good narration. but the machines language is not understandable. Sam witwicky is the chosen one by the decepticons who can handle the matrix and make their family grow.

but sam faces terror against mini cepticons and in that duo optimus prime loses its life. sam gets now the chance to prove what he is. he takes the help of an aged decipticon and locates the spot where matrix is present. mean while decipticons strike earth and begin their work. rest of the story is how sam and gang get the matrix and destroy the deepticons. basically an unimaginable story. nothing realistic. but visually extravagant. terrific action sequences in the beginning and the post- interval. the climax fight was awesome.

acting: shia develops a bit, megan had a small role.  johnathan did his job. rest all did their work. micheal

bay brings an extravagant action entertainer of the year. right from the start the movie keeps you in the hot seat. the last 30 minutes is awesome.

costumes: good, editing: crisp and neat,   art: terrific,    rest all managed well.

final verdict: transformers is a real entertainment

Introduction

I liked the first movie of the Transformers series and decided to go ahead with the second movie of the series the Rise of the Fallen.

The Plot

The movie starts from where the first movie ended. The Autobots and the elite human force together go about cleaning the remaining Decepticons from earth. On one such expidition one of the Decepticons sends a message that the Fallen is rising. Optimus Prime is very tensed after this warning.

Meanwhile Sam Witwicky is getting ready to go for college. While playing around with a shard of the All Spark, he starts suddenly seeing symbols which simply seem to make him crazy. Soon he realizes that these are cybertron language and is a clue for something. The clue comes from Jet Fire who is a Decepticon Seeker. He explains that centuries back some of the Autobots used to harvest energy from the suns of various systems, except for the ones with the life on it. The Fallen chose to ignore that and harvest even systems which had life and had actually planted the Sun Harvester somewhere on earth near Egypt.

Meanwhile, more decepticons find Megatron and revive him and together they take down Optimus Prime. Then they all go in search of the Sun Harverster. What happens next? Do the Decepticons activate the Sun Harvester? Or does Sam again save the earth from the Decepticons? Check out this action adventure for the details.

Critic's Viewpoint

After watching the first movie of the Transformers series, my expectation from the second movie was sky high. I could not have imagined a worse movie to firmly dash my expectations completely.

From the moment Sam enters the screen the movie went completely crazy with so many stupid scenes like the one in which his house gets on fire and then momma Witwicky gets stoned in his college. Julie White was so revolting in her role as momma Witwicky that I completely lost the interest in the movie after that scene. Overall the humor in the movie is also very much below the belt stuff and largely poor.

I loved Shia LaBeouf in the first installment due to his innocent fooling around. In this movie, he suddenly seems to have developed attitude and a very serious one at that, shouting at one and all and makes a complete pest of himself. Megan Fox is again used as a background decorating tool without any serious acting involved in the movie for her.

The action in the first movie was excellent. Here the action is overdone and very repetitive. There is nothing new in terms of what we did not see in the first movie on the action front. Just a bigger re-hash of that same action. To make matters worse most of the scenes are so close with so much dust flying around that it is very difficult to even make sense of who is hitting whom and who is gaining the upper hand. My wife joined midway in the movie around the time Sam and gang reach Egypt. And after about 20 odd minutes of repetitive action without any dialogs, she looked at me and remarked rather sympathetically "What kind of movies you are watching these days!"

I am actually surprised that Steven Spielberg is even remotely associated with this offering. The movie might have made huge money at the box office, but Michael Bay has made the worst all-time money spinner of all time!

Summary

The movie was really bad in terms of performances, screenplay and dialogs. I would give this movie a very low 1 star rating.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Oct 19, 2009 04:37 PM 4342 Views

It surprises me that ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ was even compared to Terminator Salvation, the latter being way superior in terms of everything – script, special effects, performance, photography, et al.

Shia LaBeouf as Sam yet again keeps battling with aliens, rather the anti-human robots Decepticons in this one too in order to save earth. I wonder why this youngster keeps playing the same role over and over again – a human running away from aliens who holds the key to save earth. LaBeouf is highly repetitive and thus anything but impressive. Giving him company by running along is his ‘hot but not bright’ girlfriend Mikaela

The robots make great entries like most superstars do by displaying their power through their humungous size and flying ability but fail to resist death when targeted by US military’s gunfire!

Another problem with the film is the robot’s fluctuating sizes. In air and water the Robots look smaller compared to what they look on land.

The humans are less in quantity compared to robots but are far more interesting than the robots who populate and pollute the film. Except for few funny moments for 15-year-olds there is nothing really impressive about the film. Overall a okk movie not dat good.A one time watch.

Transformers need to be transformed
Sep 11, 2009 04:49 PM 1815 Views

I was more than excited to watch the Transformers. bought the paid preview tickets, within half an hour into the movie. the movie stalled and we were given our money back, after that went on Monday night to watch the whole movie, again!

When we went the second time to watch the movie, at this time, it was not so exciting as it was watching the first Transformers. Here they were just too many robots without any introductions. They was too much time given for the vehicles to get converted to autobots. As for the villain robots, they didnt take so much time to convert themselves. Too much time was given Megan Fox to look pretty, too!

Anyway, I watched movie and then tried forgetting about it, that's it. It was not that great a movie as I thought it would be. What to watch out in the movie is Optimus Prime!

The other thing that I like is the action sequence in the Deserts, there is something about the director and the desert sequence, since even the last time, when eh was working on this movie, his opening sequence was in the desert. It just reminds me of one of my favourite movie Mummy.

Coming back to Optimus Prime, he is the heart and soul of the movie, at least that I what I want to believe, but then you have the human characters Shia LeBouf. How does he get all these roles - Transformers, Indiana Jones, all big budget movies.

I love Magatron, too. Like this blog post, you like something about the movie, it must be the characters, robots, blast sequence, or you might just hate something in the movie - very predictable story - that is what Transformers #2 is all about- leaves you confusing?

U actually think they do exist!!!!
Aug 25, 2009 11:47 AM 3245 Views

The first movie was an attempt to bring the transformers concept to th general public. Michael Bay did that...an pretty darn well too!

The second one was jus all out non stop adrenaline pumping bonzai kick-a**( did I use enough definitive adverbs?!?!?!) action! 2and a half hours of non stop action.

There's so much action that if ur not an action buff....ull seriously think of walking out due to the excessive explosions and what not..

But thankfully..i was one of the "More action, less acting" type- meaning ...I love the action. And the Result......?I LOVED THE MOVIE!! Superbly done...CGI was absolutely remarkable....150% perfect( 10 years down the line, I actually think this may b considered ground breaking!!). Im seriously doubting the use of alien technology for this movie- cos D-A-M-N!!

Story was the average kids cartoon stuff....nothing too mind boggling but Bay's main aim was to continue fro where he left off in the first one- if an when the autobots become familiar to mankind! Music was brilliant from Jablonsky( and using the Linkin Park Theme-New Divide jus gave the movie an excellent jive to it!!). Sound editing was on the mark too!

The COns..

Character( I mean Robot) Development was minimal- it was ore about Optimus and the Fallen. It wudve been gr8 to get to know others like Sideswipe, Jolt, the RC twins..etc. Yea..an some of the dialogue was too corny! Other tan that....3 thumbs up for the movie..... Gr8 work Bay.(Inspite of the slack its been getting from critics.) Go watch it....worth every penny!

Micheal Bay - Good Temperment
Jul 24, 2009 03:27 AM 2060 Views

It was really a wonder how Micheal Bay came up with a promising sequel to the first part. Usually sequels suck and are hardly able to match upto to the first part.

Story is nothing much to wonder about, had to build in some sort of crap to get going so that the movie can be made with such good graphics and technical expertise.

The action seen can be seen only a big screen and would definitely take a toll on the viewers eyes if the screen size is compromised.

The film drags a bit during the first 45 minutes and Bay could have edited out a few scenes. Hats off to Speilberg for his technical expertise. He is really a master. The actors play well with the story and Megan Fox is terrific and apt to being called Angelina's clone. She is a lucky chap and looks like a younger brother to Fox.

Hard core action fans can give it a watch.Hard core fans of technical film making can watch it twice.Other- you are at your own risk of buying a Aspirin.

Fantastic***************
Jul 18, 2009 04:27 AM 2189 Views

What a movie, a well made Hard core Action packed entertainment. To start with the story it was not to bad but to built up the foundation for the story it took away 30 to 45 min in the middle but over all watching this Great extravagnaza on the big screen (only) was an awesome experience.

Very few times there comes a movie where you can actually feel the adrinaline, the rush, the excitement of watching a movie like TRANSFORMERS it makes that feeling complete its a treat for your eyes, satisfaction of watching a movie of such humangous stars ( OPTIMUS PRIME , BUMBLEBEE and FALLEN ) . Right from crisp Cinematography to Graphics, from patriotic rock background score to simple characters.

Its all about how Extraordinary AUTOBOTS doings Extraordinary things to save the world every time there is a Catastrophic situation. Every thing was crystal clear about Transformers its a great entertainer with death defying action sequences and an amazing starcast. For me the real hero of the movie was OPTIMUS PRIME and the rest of the characters have done justice on their part. Dont miss the greatest Battle of NBE's go for it.

New Divide - Optimus Prime Vs The Fallen
Jul 16, 2009 10:55 PM 2007 Views

WOW!.to begin with!

Most of us do know the Result when a battle between The Good and the Bad is on! The Good wins and thus the story ends!

But what really makes the experience worthwhile is knowing how the battle is waged and who is in it and how badly is the "Bad's " a** whooped!

The Transformer's saga as most of us would know is a battle between futuristic machines(I hope one of us comes up with a model, before some Japanese Kid does). It is a battle where the Good, Autobots( Optimus Prime, bumble bee) stand for the Human race not as a Moral duty but, a Stand for their Principles i.e. they would harvest energy from a Planet that Does NOT have Life in it! Whereas on the other hand the Bad, Decepticons( Megatron, Devastator and THE FALLEN) want to destroy Earth and harvest its total energy!

A good reason to fight against each other, at least for once doesn't have to be for a woman!:)

The Graphics were great, I mean too good to be true. Unlike Transformers 1, this edition has a Lot of action right from the start untill the End, keeping you guessing what's next! Good Dialogues( though not action-packed) but the Battle steals the Show. Good Venues like China, Egypt. It was a Blast, thats what I'd say a Sumptuous Buffet of Action and Pure Action!

An old Saying goes, where there's action there's no Woman, and it suits right here. Megan Fox, the Tattooed hottie, its a good thing she wasn't assigned to say something coz that would've killed half of the Experience, Michael Bay just assigned her the Task of running, and she fulfilled it well, like the way she ran, just like a Stallion:)!

The Battle ends with the Fallen being killed by Optimus Prime, the Last Prime to have lived!

The Music not to mention, is well made, by Linkin Park. New Divide(Title) that plays right from the begining till the end! Well Crafted, I must say, applause!

My overall exprience is an 8.5/10, good graphics, good story line.I'd sum it up as a Worth Watch! In fact watching it Twice would do justice!

Go Transformers!

Revenge was never so sweet
Jul 13, 2009 12:39 PM 2268 Views

I watched Transformers, the revenge of the fallen yesterday at Gold Big Cinemas in Pune, the movie was awesome and it was evident from the audience footfall it had gathered on the third day after release, while I was booking the tickets online, I saw morning 9:00 am show sold out completely, since tickets are cheap, even the evening show was packed fully, did not see this much audience even for X-men origins Wolverine.

Okay, the movie begins with Sam Witwicky(Shia Lebeouf), packing to leave for college and happens touch a dropped a piece of all spark fragment and suddenly all the electronic devices in his house start transforming to decepticons and they pull down his house, while bumblebee comes to rescue, Sam secures the all spark fragment and gives it to his girl friend Mikaela Banes(Megan Fox), who comes to see off Sam.

The story rolls from here in a sequence if events where the autobots still keep hunting the decepticons hiding across the globe, with a secret team of USA military, the government thinks of asking the autobots to leave the planet since they think it is them who are the purpose of decpticons to stay on planet earth, while decepticons manage to locate the last peice of all spark under army control, also locating Megatron under the depth of sea, bringing him back to life, this is where all the mayhem begins.

Story of the movie is fast paced, it's bigger and much better, seems Micheal Bay gave a big wrestling ring to the bots for fighting this time, action sequences could seem too fast to watch for some who have not watched transformers earlier, it's a cool metal grinding and crunching fight stunts that would keep you to the edge of your seats.

The humor quotient of the movie is also good, to the likes of teenagers and the youth, Peter Cullen voices Optimus Prime and Hugo Weaving voices Megatron, New villan in this series is The Fallen voiced by Tony Todd, he is the master to Megatron, captive on a savage planet, waiting for the last Prime Autobot to die, so he can be free and complete the mission left incomplete thousands of years back.

Megan Fox is the eye candy material in the movie, she does not have much to offer in terms of acting, Shia LeBeouf, is on the run and in the action guy throughout the movie, supported well by the other cast in the movie, Micheal Bay has being able to tie the emotional quotient in the movie to the bots very well, visuals are stunning, towards the end, where the stage is set for final fight in Egypt.

I would not dwelve much into the plot of the movie ahead, if you are a sci-fi action movie fan, don't miss this movie, even if you have not watched the transformers part 1, there are more bots in this movie than the previous, better close shot action, fast paced story and some great action sequences, it's like watching your favourite superhero cartoon show, feling elated and happy to see your superhero defeat the baddie and bring peace to earth again.

Mind Blowing REVENGE!!!
Jul 11, 2009 11:23 AM 2275 Views

The movie for which I was waiting desperately is finally released. A lot was heard about the sequel before its release like Director Michael Bay wanted more close-ups of robots and more action sequences, that is fulfilled by him for the viewers. Just like the last time I posted a review on the FIRST PART-(https://mouthshut.com/review/Transformers-129675-1.html) of this movie, I am doing that again for the sequel that is Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Its not necessary to see the first part to understand the sequel. But if you did, you will enjoy it more than anything. So the movie starts with the army and some autobots who are....???? Sorry, for those who are not familiar with the movie, Autobots are GOOD Robots and Decepticones are BAD robots. Got it? So the movie starts with the army and some autobots who are working with each other to free the planet earth from decepticones in Shanghai.

The starting introduces some of the new autobots like The Twins, Sideswipe and Decepticones like Demolisher(giant wheel) and Sideways(Audi R8- My personal favorite Transformer in this movie). The twins are converted later into cool new cars from the Icecream Truck. And also 3 bikes have been introduced in this part as well. And Sam Witwicky is now going to the other city for his higher studies and decides not to take Bumblebee with him. And convinces Mikaela [ MEGAN FOX ;-) ] for a long distance relationship. As he arrives to the college he become friends with his room partner Leo. And there is also a girl named Alice who likes Sam. Sam is also having some kind of symbols coming in his minds that he is not able to understand. Alice seduces Sam and somehow Mikaela caught Sam with Alice.

Meanwhile, Megatron (Leader of the Decepticones) is brought to life by other decepticones. Fallen(Master of Decepticones) orders Megatron to kill Optimus Prime because only a Prime can kill Fallen. Megatron decides to kill Sam also who knows the way to Matrix. A Matrix is the ultimate source of energy which will empower Decepticones and will destroy the sun of Earth. And while saving Sam from other Decepticones including Megatron, Optimus Prime (Leader of the Autobots) is killed. This shocks Sam and he decides to bring back Optimus Prime to life by any means. His friend Leo re-introduces him to Agent Simmons. And they decide to find the Matrix which can bring back Prime to life. With the help of an old Decepticon which turned later into an Autobot called Jetfire, They altast find Matrix.

So Now, Decepticones tries to acquire Matrix from Sam, and US army and Autobots protects Sam. How Optimus Prime is killed and than bought back to life? What Mikaela do with Sam when she caught Sam with Alice? And why she kills Alice(not for the obvious reason)? What chaos Fallen spreads on Earth with his army? Now Optimus Prime is dead than who kills Fallen? And when Sam founds Matrix, why it is turned into ashes? Who kills Sam? And how the REVENGE is taken? And who takes it?

To know all these answers, watch the movie. This movie is extremely entertaining with humour and MINDBLOWING, AWESOME, BREATH TAKING.... action sequences like you never seen before. I told u last time, this movie is also and much more of a typical Steven Spielberg movie. Megan fox is looking stunning as well as the Cars.

So this week don't you try to take "Short Kut" for the "Morning Walk", instead watch how the "Revenge of the Fallen" is taken.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Jul 09, 2009 06:50 PM 2081 Views

After the first film opened to megabucks amidst the kind of hyperbole that is normally reserved for pubescent rock stars, a sequel was almost immediately green-lit, and nigh on two years later, here it is - with added robots. Director Michael Bay essentially follows the same formula as his last sequel, Bad Boys 2; meaning, everything is bigger and more intense. For a film about giant robots knocking seven shades of shite out of each other, that's by no means a bad thing. But, once again, the helmer has overindulged, and made his film twenty minutes too long.

This time out, our young hero Sam is heading off to college, in search of some normality a couple of years after the shenanigans of his last brush with the metallic other-worldly beings. He's still with his inexplicably attractive missus, but is having slight commitment issues. Alas, Sam hasn't landed at college but a day when the decepticon’s come looking for him, as he holds the key to their latest attempt at destroying our planet. The bad robots have taken over some satellite systems orbiting earth, meaning they can find his everyman arse where ever he legs it to. While Optimus Prime continues to fight for our side alongside the US Military, government involvement soon interferes with the trusting union between man and machine, making things extra dangerous for our plucky protagonist.

Proceedings are pretty much'as you were', as Bay spends the best part of two-and-a-half hours throwing multiple explosions and Megan Fox's shiny torso at us. The action is predictably spectacular and the special effects slick and wonderfully rendered. Needless to say, for some, this will be the event movie of the summer, and on a number of levels it's easy to see why. No one blows stuff up like Michael Bay(except maybe James Cameron), and here he's been given a hefty budget to do just that. The opening sequence in particular is as spectacular as action on celluloid can get, and he only raises his game from then on in. The problem is, it's just not really engaging enough for any longer than it takes one of the action sequences to finish. This will be an issue for some, but not for others.

Labeouf is still a likeable enough presence; this time amping up his manic persona to satisfactory effect - but Fox does little more than pout and run. Sure, she looks good doing it, but if she can act, there's no sign of it here. Other characters come back to varying degrees of success, and new ones are implemented poorly(see irritating roommate). Still, for eye candy alone this really can't be beaten, and it won't - some of the stuff here makes Terminator Salvation look like an episode of Hollyoaks. Visually spectacular and often entertaining, just overlong and lacking the spark of the first film.

Another michael Bay masterpiece

TRANSFORMERS : More than meets the Eye

Since when did cinema turn into a soulful tirade of realistic sagas ofmelodramatic proportions that would be weighed boisterously by a bunch ofdepressed, soul searching and text-bookish critics that are hard hit by therecession???? What about cinema being an escapist’s zone where he leaves allhis worries and indulges in PURE entertainment?? When did cinema cease tobecome an arena of one’s psychological entertainment?? Why does a summer actionflick have to be dark and deep like the Knight of the previous year in order tobe entertaining??

The truth is that even if times change, cinema remains anentertainment haven and when you go into the theaters to find your money’sworth, you need TO BE Entertained!! So here we have the epitome of Hollywood’sentertainment value – Michael Bay’s most definitive work to date, as true tohis style as it can be… Transformers 2 cannot be weighed by critical reviewsor by questioning whether it’s worth your ticket price….. This movie goes muchbeyond…. It stimulates enough senses to ignore the color of money as we see it.

The $700 millionTransformers introduced us to the alien civilization of Robots which were toysfor the generations of yesteryears. Now, Bay takes them to another level thatits creators couldn’t have dreamed of. Shards of the All Spark are found andthe knowledge of an old and powerful secret is possessed by Sam. TheDecepticons are already in his pursuit and the Autobots who are in a secretalliance with the Government to protect mankind against these elusive enemies, may soon be outnumbered. Revenge is coming……

There are multiple sub-plots with Sam’sfamily, which cause nothing more than annoyance in the otherwise sturdy plot, Sam and Mikaela’s love story that has all the traits of a college romance, thereturn of Agent Simmons as an aid to the unraveling of the secret and Leo Spitzwho is teasingly referred to as a ‘*shrimptaco’ * by the hilarious robotic twins–Mudflap and Skids.

Shia LaBeouf will surely be unable tocount the worth of his 2 movies which will surpass $1.5 billion. He deliverswhat is expected of him in the movie. Do not expect the intensity of ChristianBale or the suaveness of Robert Downey Jr. or even the innocence of TobeyMaguire. Having said that, he has played his part to his standards. JoshDuhamel as Major Lennox is outstanding in his role while the others play theirlimited parts well enough. Sam’s Mom is the most annoying character in the filmand she does that in a seemingly natural manner. Linkin Park, Green Day, Nickelback, The Fray and Staind are the other important stars in the movie andyou shall hear why…..

Bay takes the clash of metal to NewMexico, Egypt and Jordan in spectacular locales that form the perfect arena forthe mega battles. The action is breath-taking, heart pounding, jaw dropping, fist clenching and eye popping to say the least. Tranformers 1 seems like justa preview to this movie in terms of visual effects and mega action sequences. What George Lucas did with ‘Star Wars’, *Spielbergdid with ‘Jurassic Park’, PeterJackson did with the ‘Lord of the Rings’and Pixar did with ‘Wall-E’ and ‘Up*’, Michale Bay has done it with Transformers. He summarizes all the technology, skill, talent, creativity, mega bucks andpowerful imagination that Hollywood is famous for, as symbolically projected inthe form of ‘Devastator’ – the Decepticon formed as a combination ofconstruction machinery.

The high-octane sequence in Shanghai inthe opening moments is a powerful introduction and if you thought that theclash between Megatron and Optimus Primein the first movie was epic, wait till you watch Prime battle it out againstnumerous Decepticons in the forest!!

Did the critics talk about the lack of a meaningful, soul searchingstory and a ‘human’ side to the movie?? WHO THE #$%@?!! CARES!!! When you havea Gargantuan finale in the desert with Decepticons, Autobots, soldiers, warships, tanks, helicopters and fighter planes all over the place will giveyou enough reason to shriek with excitement. There is more explosion, gunfireand clang of metal in Transformers 2 than one can handle…… So what did youexpect out of this movie anyway?? A Robot’s journey through human experiencesand its realization that the planet is just about dominated by a bunch of dopeheads who have forgotten what sheer entertainment is all about??!!

Transformers:Revenge of the Fallen cannot be measured with a ticket price or by the words ofsome #$%!@ minds who would rather be thrilled by the advent of a ‘High School Musical 4’ . For the otherswho would wisely watch it on IMAX, hearts will pound, pulse will race, laughterwill roar, fists will be tightened, the fury of the testosterone in you willelevate to epic proportions like never before in theaters…… and in the end, Applause! Indeed, there is more than meets the eye with The Transformers.
