Robots Movie Reviews

There are a few good gags in this , for example when the baby robot Rodney Copperbottom is delivered his mother says to his father ''oh honey I'm so sorry you missed the delivery but you know what they say - making the baby is the fun part'' and she holds up a carton with ''Build a baby -some assembly required'' emblazoned on it.

The story is simple. Poor kid Rodney has an idol the inventor Bigweld, the worlds' richest robot and owner of Bigweld industries. Rodney grows up and invents a wonderbot that he wishes to demo to his idol so he makes way to the big city where in usual style he is flimflammed by a robot called Fender, preyed upon by the evil Ratchet who has taken over Bigweld industries ,put Bigweld out to grass and corrupted the company into a bloodsucking profit making corporate beast by refusing to make spare parts and pushing upgrades on the hapless robots faced with fork out or end up in the chopshop. Rodney manages to find Bigweld remotivate him and good triumphs over evil.

Yet another movie from the producers of ICE AGE, This is another blockbuster. The movie is set in the backdrop of robot world. Rodney Copperbottom(Ewan McGregor) had dreams of becoming an Inventor since childhood.Rodney lives in a small town with his parents, his father is a dish washer at a restaurant.

Rodney inspiration is fueled by a television show of Mr.Bigweld of Bigweld Industries where doors are always open for Inventors. As he grows up (Change of parts for every age) He starts making small robots from cups & saucers. After a fight at a restaurant, Rodney decides to go to the robot city to try his luck at Bigweld Industries.

But upon reaching there, he understands that Bigweld Industries have been taken over by an evil person Ratchet & there is no space for Inventors. Also, Bigweld Industries have also stopped production of spare parts that are necessary for robots, on saying of Ratchet. Rodney is disappointed but he meets a group of robots who support him to bring back Mr. Bigweld, from the clutches of Ratchet.

The 3D animation of this movie is simply superb. The cityscape of robot city is very futuristic & very colorful. This film has taken inspiration from classic like Wizard of Oz. This is the must watch movie for this summer.

Good summer treat for the family

It's probably among the better summer releases from Hollywood - a rip roaring entertainer for all. Of course, it takes the usual animation flick formula of kid dreams big, gets lost in the big bad city, gathers a motley crowd for friends and eventually saves the day - much like Nemo, Bugs, Antz... But, it keeps you spell bound for 90 minutes quite easily.

From the prehistoric Ice Age to the futuristic Robot City, the production team has shown it can handle it all with aplomb. The animation is just too good. And the dialogues are cracking (''It's a fusion of jazz and funk... it's junk!'') to say the least.

And there's something in it for everybody - my teenage daughter, eight year old son, wife and I all of us loved it.

We even want to buy a DVD for keeps later. Don't miss it, folks.
