Love is a lovely Lollipop…Yes, but don't expect a sweet candy from this Lollipop, but it is all made of bitter taste and obviously fail to impress. Shafi's films are generally recommended for repeated viewing but this time around the successful director must be feeling the heat of first complete failure.
Franko (Prithiraj) & Jennifer (Roma) shares a close brother and sister relation. They agree mutually to marry only to a partner the other agrees. Franko is in love with Rosebella (Bhavana)who incidently is the college mate of Jennifer and both of them are enemies forlong. Francis (Jayasurvya) is apick pocketer and now joined in Franko's workshop. Francis has an untold love to Jennifer, where Jennifer met a young doctor (Kunchacko Boban) and liked him. Now,the young doctor is neighbour to Rosebella and they were playmates despite their parents were partners turned enemies?? If you are interested to know more on the story, watch the movie.
Frankly speaking, the movie disappoints big times. I was wondering whether this is a Shafifilm, where the comedy was not working and romance didn't even pick up pace orgrace. The only relief was a sub plot where Suraj Venjaramood had the lead role.
Prithiraj was just ok, but no additional efforts were required by the script. Bhavana were sleepy in the film throughout. Roma as the spoiled sister was good in the first half but she too fall out of balance in the second half. Kunchako Boban only had a guest kind role and he remained as the chocolate boy. Jayasurya's furious action only made us laugh where he was let down by the writers. Suraj Venjaramoodu is the only saving grace of the movie. Salim Kumar was just ok.
Cinematography was pretty flat or say just average.
Music of the film was better. Not of a classic kind, but party song type songs were good. However, the cinematography was more lethargic.
Writing department was a total and absolute failure. The writers/director may take a bit extratime on script next time around. More over the feel of romance was not provided by the director. Love between the leading pair was not shared with the audience, the second pair fall in love without much excitement and the third angle love was untold. The visuals and background of a workshop don't match the set up for romance. Also the songs are supposed to create magic for romantic films. A big disappointment!!
