This is the fantastic story with lots of entertainment.

Because of Gulliver's experience of traveling to different towns and many islands the story became very mysterious.

Some time Gulliver looked very short hight person., some time very big bully on different island

This is the best of all of the Story books that I had read and I really like this book

There was some changes needs to improve in this book that it didn't include that it have to involve love story that attracts many people

And because of different island the story had attractive nature

Gulliver's travel movie is very joy ful

Gulliver's travels !!!
Apr 21, 2012 12:57 PM1918 Views

I am Gulliver; Lemuel Gulliver. Oops! I hope you don’t mind as I have said my name in ‘James Bond’ style. My wife’s name is Darcy Silverman. Do you want to know, how I got Darcy as my wife? That’s a long and interesting story. I used to work in the mail-room of an office building. Darcy used to work in that same office building as a travelogue writer for a newspaper. For 5 years, I had a crush on her, but, I was unable to propose her. I recruited Dan. But, that guy started buttering everyone. After few weeks, Dan got promoted and became my boss. Buttering was not my cup of tea, so, I remained in the same post. But, somehow, I started feeling as if that bloody Dan was trying to snatch my Darcy from me. So, on that evening, I entered inside Darcy’s cabin. Darcy asked me why I entered in her cabin. I told her that I was looking for a content writing job on the subject of tours and travels. Oh! She gave me an assignment. To write a travelogue, you have to be a traveler first, which I was not. I performed plagiarism from Frommer.com. She doubted on my article but was unable to track the source of it. She wanted to do her assignment on her own, but, as she was impressed on me, she requested me to go to the Bermuda Triangle and then write a travelogue on it. I was given a boat to go to the Bermuda Triangle. I was enjoying my time in that boat, but the whirlpool of Bermuda Triangle took me somewhere.

When I woke up, I felt as if some long ants were walking on my chest. Oh! My goodness! They were not long ants, but, human beings with a height of 6 inches. They were little and popularly known as Lilliputs. General Edward and his army men tied me up from all ends. King Theodore ordered to prison me up inside the cave, where prisoners live. There I met Horatio, the lover of Princess Mary. General Edward forcefully kept Horatio in the prison out of jealousy. The Lilliputs started utilizing me as their slave. Oh! I was doing the farming for them. Suddenly, on that day, the Blefuscian army tried to kidnap the Princess by lighting up fire in the palace. All were idiots! What to do! I urinated on the palace to act as a fire brigade officer for them. King Theodore started considering me as their savior. What an honor! Liliputs were good builders. They constructed a big house for me. Somehow, I found that these Liliputs were hard-working guys, but there was no entertainment in their life. So, I decided to construct multiplexes, shopping malls, bars, theaters and pubs with lighting everywhere. It was a small Manhattan out there. They liked the scenes of Titanic. They also liked the movie, ‘GAVATAR’, where I played the role of a Hero. Horatio was stuck in a friendship lagoon with Mary. I taught her how to impress and propose a girl. What an irony! I never proposed Darcy, but, I became the Love-Guru of Horatio. General Edward had some arguments with King Theodore and got relieved. I became the new Army General of Liliputs. I was invincible for the Blefuscian army.

After winning that battle, I got carried away and declared myself as the ‘President the Awesome’ from Manhattan. In the meantime, Princess Mary broke the engagement with General Edward as she wanted to marry her beloved Horatio. General Edward was smarter than me. He joined hands with the Blefusican army and came back with a robot to defeat me. I was sent to the Island of Fog Banks, where I stayed for sometime as a doll of the Giant Girl till Horatio gave me the news that Darcy have also arrived at the island of Liliputs. This time, with joint collaboration with Horatio, I defeated General Edward. But, still, those two Kings of Liliputs were willing to go for a war with each other. I started singing and dancing to spread the message of love, peace and brotherhood. Princess Mary got married to Horatio and I got Darcy as my wife. Now, Dan also realized that there are small jobs but no small people. I know that you people have read about me in a book in your childhood days. But, what you read and what you see are not always same. So, if you are feeling bored or exhausted due to your hectic lifestyle, just refresh yourself by watching me, Darcy and the Lilliputs in an entertaining Hollywood movie, “GULLIVER’S TRAVELS”.

Marvellously revisiting an old Classic
Mar 19, 2011 02:06 AM2447 Views

There comes a time where you realise that it’s time to finally face what you have being running from and take a stand, this is what this movie is about. Sometimes, you have to take the braver decision to prove to yourself that you can do much better. And what better to realise this than in a beautifully written and visually spell bounding classic.

The story of the movie, surprisingly, goes as the classic but is set in the modern temporary world of Manhattan. Gulliver is a low esteemed mail man at a publication’s office. He is somewhat self- content and has never thought of any kind of succession in his life. He thinks this is the way he is supposed to be, at the same place as the head mail man, for eight years.

He finds his lady love in Darcy, who works in the same office. For the past five years he has been ogling on her but not courageous enough to make attempt at asking her out. In a final attempt he crosses out which lands him an assignment to go to the Bermuda triangle to cover a small assignment from his lady love and he foolishly accepts it.

He lands in Bermuda, take a lone boat and is washed off at the shore of Lilliput where the classic begins. After initial hesitation he becomes a big hot-shot in the kingdom of Lilliput and is provided all the facilities of a royal he could imagine. Trouble does come and he is sent off to the lands of the giants for a brief period but he returns back to prove himself and retain his lost glory and love from the people of Lilliput. Darcy lands up following him too. Finally, he confesses his love and they return back home to a new and better life.

Frankly, there was nothing to despise in the movie. It was a pure entertainer. From the moment it started, my eyes and ears where hooked to the film. Jack black was awesome as usual but what also stood out was the performance of Jason Segal. Carrying a humorous touch the scene where Gulliver is fired at with cannon balls and they bounce back is rib-tickling. The movie is very, very visually appealing, the whole set and get up of Lilliput was finely and uniquely done. The proportions and the directions were handed carefully, which could be seen throughout the movie. What acts as a cherry on the cake, is the overall feel goof factor it provided. Each and every emotion throughout the movie was beautifully portrayed. In the end, from our school textbooks the story has finally come alive marvellously.

Just another waste of time

Gulliver’s Travels has always been considered a classic fiction novel, entertaining, light and amusing. Brimming with suspense and adventure the book has always been a favourite among people of all ages. However as compared to the book, Rob Letterman’s version of the movie hardly seems to do justice to the story.

The movie starts off depicting Gulliver(Jack Black) as the bumbling, boring mailroom worker, intent on somehow catching the eye of journalist Darcy Silverman(Amanda Peet). In a desperate attempt to impress her, he lies about how he’s a world class explorer, with the dream to be a journalist. Darcy gives him an opportunity to write, and after liking his article(without realising it is completely plagiarised) she sends him on his first assignment to the Bermuda Triangle!

While travelling through the water he finds his boat overpowered by an unnatural storm and sinks into the land “Lilliput” where he is condemned as a ‘beast’ by men the size of toothpicks. While locked up he befriends Horatio(Jason Segel) and later gains the towns respect by rescuing Princess Mary(Emily Blunt) from Lilliput’s enemies. However General Edward(Chris O’Dowd), jealous of the attention Gulliver receives, is determined to ruin his life.

The movie then delves into Gulliver’s stay in Lilliput, his dilemma regarding whether he should ever venture into the real world again, and his battle against the power-hungry General Edward.

Although the movie takes on a new and fresh version of the classic Gulliver’s Travels, its fails to impress the audience as a whole. The comedy remains boring and uninteresting, the acting overrated and the plot fantastically unbelievable. Moreover the movie focuses more on the character of Jack Black than on creating a separate identity for Gulliver. What does redeem the movie to an extent is its fascinating special effects which does manage to amuse the viewer.

On the whole this is a movie best avoided, unless it’s a dull day and you have nothing else to do!

Must watch for Gullivers fans

I was always a huge fan of gullivers travels since I was a kid and the story used to fascinate me. And this movie lived up to my expectations. In fact the movie was better than the book.

Jack did a wonderful work as Gulliver in the movie. The part in which Gulliver was captured by giants was new and interesting.

The movie was never boring and I enjoyed every part of it. However, the ending was not so good and I feel the movie ended early.

The duration was about 90 min. I feel that all those who know the story as well as those who haven't must see the movie at least once because I feel it is worth it.

Re-Visiting Gullivers

I am a big fan of Jack Black and Jason Sega l (Since How I Met Your Mother ). The tale of the adventurous journey of Gulliver is known to all of us since child hood.

The movie is a refreshing treat of the classic voyage . The story begins with the routine life of Gulliver played by Jack Black, I loved him in Kung Fu Panda and Tropic Thunder who works as a mail room in-charge in an organization. Starts his journey towards the mysterious Bermuda triangle without any prior knowledge of the place.

Struck in the dangerous hurricane and crashed on the land of Lilliput . Lilliput has its own kingdom and its an isolated place from the rest of the world the people are small in size but big at hearts. As the story flows the hilarious acts and perfect comic timings of the Jack Black makes it a nice laugh experience.

The performances in romantic scenes by talented Jason Segal and beautiful Emily Blunt are commendable. Children would definitely enjoy this flick.

Being an avid fan of Star Wars, Iron Man and The Transformers , I loved the transformation of the R2D2 and Iron Man . The effects are awesome specially in the scenes when giant size Jack is seen with the Lilliputians. The way Lilliputians treat Jack as a giant Beast is finds out its own nature of fun. The way Lilliputians show that they are awesomely great architects is filled with fun and excitements.

Some of the scenes are really hilarious and worth:

  • Jack’s New House in Lilliput

  • The Doll house

  • The Fight Scene of R2D2

The performances by all the characters are appreciated specially by Jack Black.
