SITAMGAR
Jan 11, 2007 08:03 PM 4099 Views

Please note this revu is about the audio cassette of SITAMGAR movie. Will move it to proper section when created.Could not find Sitamgar in any section on MS. Neither did I find on Chitalkar

Ramachandra. But could find Himesh Chamiya in here on MS. Strange!!!!!

Neways, had to resort back to my way of putting review somewhere. Can;t wait till Jasmine comes out of busy schedule of deals and contests.

BTW, if you are wondering what is SITAM, even I do not know what is or was SITAM before searching for SITAMGAR on MS. SITAM seems to be utterly failed attempt by Partho Ghosh released sometime in 2005. If you have come here, at least please vote if you knew about this movie before.

Coming back, Sitamgar(Oppressor) was released some time in the ’80’s starring the romantic Rishi Kapoor and the sohni Kudi, Poonam Dhillon. The movie falls into the forgotten category just like Namkeen, may be. But songs & music are fresh just as any other magic created by the Trio, Kishore, RD and Gulzar.

Do read my revu on the trio at https://mouthshut.com/review/Gulzar-93504-1.html

Had bought this Cassette long time back when I was in School. Its weird to catch hold of such albums when you are in School. Right? But then, liking music and emotions do not ask for PG 13 certificate.:->

Every now and then, when am sitting alone or driving in the countryside, resort to listening to these gems by the Trio. SITAMGAR has been with me for over 15 years or so in some or the other form.

Cassette, CD, MP3, etc. Something is so nostalgic about these songs and music that I just felt like sharing it with my friends here who might have never heard of before or may be heard once in a while accidentally on FM or elsewhere.

The music composed by RD has a signature RD touch, done proper justice to the thoughtful lyrics of Majrooh Sultanpuri without having to make the lyricist adjust to the music and perfectly complimented by Kishore’s voice. One of the songs, Mausam Pyar Ka is suposedly inspired from a Christmas carol. Mentioned in a review on MS.

BTW, haven’t watched this movie till date but listening to them for years kind of give me an idea of what it could be. ;-).

For my friends who are non-Hindi or not-knowing Hindi, silly translations are provided assuming its not over bearing. For those who understand Hindi, ignore the transalations unless you wanna laugh out.

Song 1 (Singer: Kishore Kumar)

Chand Roz Aur Meri Jaan Chand Roz (Some more days my sweet heart some more days)

Tere Gum Ke Din Mere Gum ke Din (Your days of sorrow, My days of sorrow)

Chale Jaayenge Kaha Maan Chand Roz (They will be gone forever, Believe me just some more days)

A Nice song wherein the Romeo is kind of convincing his beloved that this Judaai(separation) is not going to last for long. But there are some hurdles that we still have to clear before we can be ONE when our lives will be dedicated to each other with LOVE all around and nothing else. It kind of reminds me of the magic that Hridyanath, Lata & Kishore created with Mujhe Tum Yaad Karna Aur Kujhko yaad aana Tum from Mashaal

Song 2 (Singer: Kishore Kumar)

Hum Kitne Naadaan Ththey Yaaron (How unaware was I my Friends?)

Aaj Yeh Samjhe aaj Yeh Jaana (I reaslised and understood today)

Sach Hain Agar Tho Ek Mohabobbat (That The only TRUTH is LOVE)

Jhoot Hain Baaki Saara Fasana (Everything else is a story/Lie)

After Shailendra, Hasrat, Gulzar, Majrooh is the best when reflecting on oneself philosophically in words. That too when its about a character thar realises how unfortunate or unforgiving he/she was over a period of time. The song reflects the past life of the main character which used to be an oppressor, knowingly/unknowingly. Majrooh’s usage of simple words like Zurm ke nafrat ke parde while the hero Repents on what he did before is amazing. Nevertheless, the song ends on a positive note realised by the Hero that in spite of all the ill deeds, the human inside him wants to

lead a LIFE (of LOVE and PEACE).

Song 3 (Singers: Asha Bhosale and Kishore Kumar)

Mausam Pyaar Ka, Rang Badalta rahe, (Let The season of Love keep changing coluors)

Yuheen Chalta Rahe, Tere Mere, Pyaar Ka, Karwaan (Let our journey of LOVE continue the same way)

Thandi Hawa Matwaali, kahe Hamare Sang Udke (The cold wind sings along with us hile blowing)

Abhi Kahi Dekho Nas Mudke (asking us not to look back now)

Oh Ab aaye Bahaar Ya Chale aandhiyaan (No matter what comes ahead now)

This is a wonderful romantic song. Simple yet very touchy https://lyrics. Starts with Asha first followed by Kishore. From the moment Kishore starts "Mausam Pyaar Ka", I bet you will be so attentive and absorbed. Kishore makes this song sound different and full of LIFE and wanting to be Loved by somebody unlike the rest where there was some kind of pathos. IF you are romantic, be assured that this will make you ever romantic.

Song 4 (Singer: Kishore Kumar)

Pyaar Jab Na Diya Zindagi Ne Kabhi (When Life never offered Love)

Phir Sitamgar Kaun Huva, Aadmi Ya Zindagi (Then who is the Oppressor, Oneself or LIFE)

Zurm Ki Hain Sajaa, Yeh Tho Jaane Sabhi (Each of us know that There is punishment for every wrong-doing)

Koi Mujrim Kyun bana, Yeh Nahin Maane Koi (But nobody wants to agree what made the person a wrong-doer)

This is again an angst on the society and the way it treats an Oppressor. Trying to ponder us over who is the REAL oppressor LIFE/SOCIETY or ONESELF.

With such songs, one has to be really attentive in his usage of words. He might be using simplest of the words. But make a whole lof of difference if used the way he intended. For eg, After listening many times and with growing philosophically, I realised that it was Maane and not Jaane in the line above

Koi Mujrim Kyun Bana, Yeh Nahin Maane Koi. Doesn’t it make one Ponder?

There are two more songs, one by Lata and another duet by Lata/Kishore. Usually I skip them.;-). Might have to skip here as well. But then this album is worth more than for these 4 above songs. If you are a pankha of either Kishore or RD this is a good keep. Shouldn’t be over 50 rupees in India. If pankha of Majrooh too, then you already have it.;-)

Thanks for bearing my horribly horrible English translations till now. ;-> Please do RRC.
