nice movie I must say.

Showing different consequences of the horrific deeds of the people during these riots and what the innocents had to suffer as a result of it, Shorgul did a rather good job if that is the concern for the discussion. The moral of the movie was to highlight the fact that it is the political class which is the cause and the major cause of the difference created between different religions and it is the common man who is the actual sufferer, maybe the person be from any religion. The movie was quite distant of helping generate communal harmony. must watch this.As far as the picturisation was concerned, I would rather say the director could have done a better job as the temperaments of the characters were not getting absorbed by the viewer because of some typical irrational behaviours of the characters. Besides, the ensemble cast with terrific actors such as Jimmy Shergill and Ashutosh Rana weren’t used to their full potential. The temperament of a Choudhary of a village as far as how kind hearted he maybe was totally missing from the character.

I have wached this movie because I was a little exited while watching the trailerof the movie.But after watching this movie my opinion was changed.The acting was good as the actors are well known but there is a very week scrip.The storywas not so good as demanding now a days.The cinematography of the movie is also bad and the songs are also not so good to hear.Climaxof the movie must be more better than that . The movie was not able to make me so attached to the screen and sometimes I felt that to leave the cinema hall .My money is totally wasted on this movie.I don't know that what others opinions are because everyone has different opinions.

This not a very ideal film to watch mostly when you go with family. also I did not like the star cast and by their performance.it is not a very nice story and dialogue by the actor of this film. the music and instrument is also not very suitable for this film. Shorgul movie is a political drama movie is based on UTTAR PRADESH . It is based on the some of the real life incidence that took place in uttar pradesh in the past . it is completly a political drama in which communal riots have been soon between HINDU and MUSLIMS arising out of innocent friendship between a hindu boy and a muslim girl . The subject of the movie is very controversy . In the beginning of the movie the youth is shown carrying a positive and fair minds towards all the religions . there choice of friends is not based on any community or religion. how politician to use there relation to divide and rule, is very clearly shown in this movie . To graph there own sheet in politics and to cater there own interest . they take support of communities and religions shotrings innocent people centiments . Aashu tosh rana and jimmy shergil have done justice to their roles . music of the movie has not put much impact of the audience and songs of the movie sound mode of poetry . Allthough the plot of the movie is attention seeking, however some scenes are drag unneccesary . the location and streets of UP where does scenes are shot is real and factual . this movie shows very well case the 2013 communal riots in uttar pradesh .

Bollywood’s record of making political films is abysmal. At least on that front, Shorgul ventures into a territory that remains largely unexplored. The wounds of Muzaffarnagar are still fresh, albeit not felt as much as it should have been. Shorgul ’s attempt to show the ‘truth’ about Muzaffarnagar riots is therefore well-intentioned. But as a story being told on screen, it is hopelessly below average. The characters are cardboard cutouts: the villainous power-hungry hypocrites Ranjit Om(Jimmy Shergill) and Maulana(Abner Reginald), or the good Hindu(Ashutosh Rana) and good Muslim Zainab(Suha Gezen). As a result, the film becomes unbearable towards the end when the riots break out after a decent build-up in the first half.

: It takes special kind of talent to make a film as contrived as Shorgul. Based loosely on 2013's Muzzafarnagar riots, the makers attempt to bring forth the psyche behind misguided divisional politics. But the writing trivialises its noble purpose. An entire town is reduced to rubble just because of one love story gone wrong, is stretching your imagination too far. We could've bought it had the director delved deeper into the scheme of things.

The performances are earnest, especially Jimmy Sheirgill and Ashutosh Rana. You'll find yourself deeply engrossed in their war of words and clash of ideas. But the film doesn't deserve such heartfelt acting. Every time you try to invest in their characters, the director shifts your attention to a loud Hiten Tejwani(who looks every bit like his brooding character from the daily soap Kutumb). Actress Suha Gezen is a misfit and bites into more than she can chew. Given that she is the central character, her performance is the film's weakest link. In a pivotal scene, she stands surrounded by dead bodies, screaming for help in an overdramatic(read -laughable) manner.

Though the debate between Gandhian values versus politics based on religion is interesting, the makers scratch it only at the surface. The writers keep themselves busy in killing one character after another. Expecting the film to paint a comprehensive picture of the communal feelings of common people or offering a solution to the general animosity that triggers tension every time there is a mishap, is clearly expecting too much.

Is the film gritty? No. Is it emotional? No. Is the love story worth the bloodshed? No. Is it worth your money? You know the answer. Give this frivolous fare a miss!
