Raman Raghav 2.0 Movie Reviews

Dark Horror, Misses The Plot
Jun 26, 2016 12:35 PM 1574 Views

Another movie from Anurag Kashyap’s dark bag of criminal horror, no one said that it will NOT be gory or gruesome.

How deep can one dive to show their dark side? This flick, Raman Raghav 2.0 takes you on yet another chase but disappoints on many levels.

The opening disclaimer of the movie connects or rather disconnects the film with the infamous serial killer of 60s, who terrorized Bombay(then) and left a trail of 41 odd murders: Raman Raghav. It states “this movie is not about him” and probably about a copycat killer.

The story revolves around Ramanna(Nawazuddin Siddiqui) who brutally murders his victims using and iron car-jack to bash their skull into pieces and powder. The graphic itself gives me goose-bumps, such horrid imagination. He comes on the police radar and becomes a target, but with his skillfulness he always manages to sneak out. Raghav(Vicky Kaushal) is a cop, who has been given the charge of hunting Ramanna. The characterization of Raghav is unlike any cop that comes to your mind.

He is a drug addict with misogynist attitude and lives on take-it-or-leave-it mentality. He lives a quality time with his girlfriend Simmy(Sobhita Dhulipala), whom he can’t commit. But his cop life take turn when he accidentally kills Simmy. Meanwhile, Ramanna starts leaving a trail of bread crumbs to satisfy his psychological character or rather just tease Raghav. Not long after this, a complicated mystery begins to unravel.

The film portrays that both, Ramanna and Raghav are creates bred and brought in patriarchial way, and does that misogyny never ceases to uproar at times. That’s why, how strong-willed the woman be, they got the worst end of the stick everytime, be Ramanna or Raghav’s girl.

This brings me to sequence that clearly stands out, where Ramanna visits his sister Lakshmi(Amruta Subhash) and holds them hostage. The way his shows his sick mind in the squeamish manner and massacres everyone in his rage, followed by chicken curry feast and the amazing dynamite song Behooda playing aptly in the background. Varun Grover’s lyrics say Tere khall mein rainge keede, tu sachcha behooda anf Ram Sampath hands down music score just makes the scene soooo viable.

As I am talking about Nawazuddin, let’s get down to his performance. He his master of his craft(hailing him, literally). He has become a typecast who can dawn any tough character. I can’t forget the look in his eye when he is mentioning, correction, confessing his act of killing people with the utmost honesty. The manner he uses his vintage red sunglasses, puffing cigarettes and making rings. The most commendable part of his talent is, how he sinks in and swims out of his crazy character. Applauds all over. His single performance is joy to watch, in. Every. Single. Frame.

Vicky Kaushal, gained his glory after his acting in Masaan, deserves standing ovation for his performance. He characteristically pulled off the role of badass drug addict cop with flamboyance. Sobhita Dhulipala has made her debut in Bollywood through this movie, and her acting skills are praise worthy.

Raman Raghav 2.0 shows some dark scenes down the mind of a crazy man and a cop who is more egoistic than his designation. But the plot is fragile and goes nowhere. The first half is all about Raman’s killings and his frantic obsession, those cat eyes and nocturnal habit of his gets you. The second half showing Raghav’s life and his “quality time” with Simmy and then the spiralling mystery. Surely, I wanted to see more of Nawazuddin in his character and that just cannot be denied.

This flick is no-no for chick who wants to be entertained. It takes you down the alley of crime and reality schticks to you. Truly saying, it is all about the performances that has made this worth it and takes you to next entertainment level.

Raman Raghav 2.0
Jun 26, 2016 11:54 AM 1429 Views

Director: Anurag Kashyap.

Raman Raghav 2.0 star cast: Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Vicky Kaushal, Shobhita Dhulipala, Amruta Subhash, Vipin Sharma.

The film is based on the story of the notorious Raman Raghav who infested the streets of Bombay(now Mumbai) in the mid-to-late 1960s. The serial killer who confessed to doing away with more than 40 people, was the subject of Sriram Raghavan’s film in 1991. Kashyap’s contemporary retread is a return to familiar dark territory — kinetic hand-held camerawork in the slushy slums and narrow alleys, which he has been using since Black Friday, whose unforgettable chase scene is replicated here too, but not with such acuity.

And that’s the problem with this film, which doesn’t give its characters enough nuance to go on with. We submit to the unwatchable or to immense depravity in the hope that we will learn something about ourselves as a race. What turns us into ravening beasts? Or worse, because some beasts are truly gentle. We don’t get the layers which will lead us into an understanding.

I wanted to know more about what shaped Ramanna, what made him who he is, what makes him do the things he does. There is a segment with his sister(Amruta Subhash, terrific), which hints at a disturbed past and is the most effective part of the film, but it is too brief. Ramanna’s insouciance is at once repellant and magnetic, but the lack of detailing reduces the supremely talented Nawazuddin to a man trailing a rod, whose bright eyes and the chilling awareness of what he is doing doesn’t add to up to showing us what he really is.

Loved it!!!!

Raman Raghav two.0 may be a alarming affair . Ramanna UN agency character is loosely supported the Raman Raghav who was haunting the streets in 1960's.

Ramanna( Nawazuddin Siddiqui) is fierce and eccentric.

He has his own psychological science and method of killing innocent folks. The story takes a replacement flip once he meets Raghavendra( Vicky Kaushal), a fierce cop with reminder gray. The most effective a part of the film is that the indisputable fact that it's laced with dark humour.

As usual Nawazuddin Siddique Sir did a awesome work in a movie. The story of movie is very difficult to understand infact at some point I got confused.

The character perform by both leading actors needs a lot of hardwork and perfection.

The character Raman performed by Nawazuddin sir is appreciable I must say no matter what type of work he does there's perfection in his work. Its a One time watch movie.

Gripping, visceral and well acted
Jun 25, 2016 11:10 PM 1742 Views

Anurag Kashyap's Raman Raghav 2.0 is another feather in the cap in his already accomplished filmmaking career. Gripping from the first make, this hitman-cop cat and mouse drama involves several moments of gore and violence but the director doesn't take any easy sides.

Part of the winning formula includes a pulsating and masterful performance by Nawazuddin Siddique and a consistently compelling performance by Vicky Kaushal. Music is pulsating and goes with the mood of the film. Supporting cast give neat performances. If you have loved Ugly, Gulaal and some of Kashyap's better films.this might just work for it.Go for it.

Not up to the mark.

An opening rider in Raman Raghav 2.0 establishes the film’s connect( as well as the disconnect) with the infamous serial killer of the 60s Mumbai: Raman Raghav, who had left a trail of 41 odd murders behind him. “This film is not about him, ” the disclaimer states. Indeed the film is about a contemporary copycat killer. But then it is not just about the new age Ramanna either.

Raman Raghav 2.0 is actually neither of the above. Yes there are many murders that keep you riveted but they are not an end in themselves. They are more a contrivance, as is the cat and mouse game between the killer Ramanna( Nawazuddin Siddiqui) and the cop Raghuvendra Singh Ubbi( Vicky Kaushal) .

Only disgust with none thrill or enjoyment

Scene choice too real to be actual andcharacter constructing turned into correct, butno longer high-quality. Nawazuddin changed into as usually spectacular, however it's timehe performs something apart from a Mumbai lowlife or a schizophrenic horrific guy it isgrowing old.

This become likely one in every ofhis exceptional performance, .at some point of the first half you feel thatpossibly they may be building a story. howeverit by no means happens. you are left withbroken portions of illogical events which don'tsuit together. You do not empathize or correlate with any character, because they'reby no means explored during the film.

Best movie of the year

When watching an Anurag Kashyap film, you know you’ve signed up for a gory, criminal and sinful world. With his latest directorial venture, however, you are not prepared for the gruesome details and shocking twists in the narrative. Ugly, one of Kashyap’s best films till date, is the only other movie that shocks with the stomach-churning cruelty of life.

Raman Raghav 2.0 betters that. The film is not about how life treats human beings – it is pure Satan in the form of humans – our protagonists take sadistic pleasure out of hurting others brutally.

Based on the infamous serial killer psycho raman from the 1960 mumbai kashyaps raman raghav  2.0 traces the life of a fictional psychotic killer ramman who is inspired by raghav he calls himself sindhi dalwai and finds a partner in raghavan( vick kaushal) a druggie cop who is man of a devil than he kniws through eight chapter( quentin tarantino style).

Locked man the. sister the policeman, the hunter, the hunted, the son, the fallen and soulmates -kashyap builds his charactors to a tall shadow that scrares us out of our ait. This movie is best book becouse this movie have suspens and drama so you must go and watch this movie.

Good Acting But not story
Jun 25, 2016 02:58 PM 1232 Views

The story is not good in the movie but acting is always superb of nawazudin this movie is based on real story but its not intersting so you to watch this movie on theatre at your own risk.

That was my big concern in approaching Raman Raghav 2.0, where Siddiqui once again works with his mentor Anurag Kashyap(the two have collaborated on four projects, and a few more, if one counts films produced by Kashyap). And I was not proven wrong in watching Kashyap's latest film after last year's disaster Bombay Velvet.

Useless movie without any storyline
Jun 25, 2016 01:40 PM 1577 Views

Such movies are not made for happiness After seeing you feel more hatred not love. Sad to see such directors, Story writers invest time in such so called concept. Anurag Kasyap makes such movie so will be easy to ignore movies by this name in future.nawzuddin was awesome but a very dark movie which was not enjoyable at all.hated the character of the cop.good for nothing guy with so much arrogance! Its only Nawazuddin Siddique who could have done justice or max might be Irfann Khan.

The supporting casts really supports well. bakwas - Mental illness of director. and create illness in society . avoid for mental peace. gift ticket to your enemies. navazudin siddiqui looks good in lunch box .The most gripping scene is before the interval when the psychopath takes a family hostage and after that, it's all downhill and predictable. No plot twists. Also, the music score is way off. Really wish I'd gone to reconnect with my childhood and watch Finding Dory instead.

Its an average movie

The acting is fabulous but the overall movie was boaring. The worst story ever. I dont no even who direct this non sence movie might be suffered from psychotic problem.at last what you want to tell society thus this movie. Shree waste of money as well as precious time.

All anurag kashayap movies has only mia nawazuddin, has he support comtract with him. Kashyap is promoting viol ence and s e x in society by making movies like that type.

Anurag Kashyap & Nawazuddin - Killer Combo..!!
Jun 25, 2016 11:59 AM 1249 Views (via Android App)

Raman Raghav 2.0 dispalys a story of 90's serial killer Ramanna ( Nawazuddin) who haunts the streets of Mumbai City. Followed by a drug addicted cop Raghavendra ( Vicky Kaushal) .

Directed by Anurag Kashyap and acting of Nawazuddin Siddiqui are the prime reasons of watching this movie. Both of them are truly masterminds in their respective fields. Other cast not up to the expectations.Totally recommended. And a must watch flick.

A clear-cut, uncomplicated, thriller
Jun 25, 2016 11:53 AM 1232 Views

"Raman Raghav 2.0" is a thriller film, which is based on the notorious serial killer Raman Raghav who operated in Mumbai during the mid-1960s. Anurag Kashyap has written the story and screenplay for "Raman Raghav 2.0" in collaboration with Vasan Bala. The movie is about serial killer Raman(Nawazuddin Siddiqui), who stalks the drug-addicted detective(Vicky Kaushal), who is investigating his grisly murders. Good movie
Jun 25, 2016 11:44 AM 1232 Views

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is the only element to watch in the Film, his sense of humor between the serial killings is amazingly amazing. Nawazuddin Siddiqui made India proud abroad at Cannes Film Festival. He got standing ovation at Cannes for the same movie, Raman Raghav is a Suer Hit. Nawaz Bhai is at his epitome Best.

Raman(Nawazuddin Siddiqui) reveres Raman Raghav, a pyschopath killer who terrorised the Mumbai in the 1960s. He is looking for Raghav; his other half. Raman finds his'soulmate' in ACP Raghav, the cop investigating the murders committed by him.

Another amazing one from Nawaz

For starters, This movie is of the very few movies which got standing ovation at Cannes. The acting skills shown by the actors takes you in the movie itself, especially nawaz.

The crew bring out the life to the characters. The making and the cinematography is great! Story is as thrilling as the acting. You would like it if you are in for hardcore acting and thrill. But if you are looking for just entertainment and chilllout, this is not for you.Overall, the movie is great for the viewers who likes to watch some serious stuff hppening in the movie.

Raman Raghav 2.0 is a scary affair . Ramanna whose character is loosely based on the Raman Raghav who was haunting the streets in 1960's.

Ramanna ( Nawazuddin Siddiqui) is merciless and eccentric. He has his own psychology and way of killing innocent people. The story takes a new turn when he meets Raghavendra ( Vicky Kaushal ) , a merciless cop with shades of grey . The best part of the film is the fact that it is laced with dark humour.

Even in the grimmest of scenes , the audience might find some humour. Amruta Subhash who plays Ramanna's sister is brilliant in her role. Shobhita Dhulipala , is amazing in her debut role !
