A Spark Neglected Burns The House..
Aug 25, 2013 11:43 PM1309 Views

Seen the movie from middle – but whatever little is seen – is blood boiling !!

A lower class family. A family having around 4-5 daughters .Both parents are illiterate/uncouth and poor. Eldest daughter (Muskan Banu) is around 12 or 13 years old. A Madame brings a proposal for the eldest daughter – the proposal of a 58-60 years old Sheik – residing in Saudi Arab – or somewhere – and that the rich oil merchant was ready to give Rs.50, 000/- for the marriage.

Both parents ponder on it – and the Mother says ‘Hau ji Hau' mean ‘yes yes' & they agree to the marriage. The marriage party is shown – where a semi-nude dancer is hired to sing and entertain people attending the marriage! Later in the first night – the fat, slimy, old haggard man is seen ‘breaking in' the 13 years old girl – and he continues humping her all the time – day & night – after all he had paid Rs.50, 000/- to her parents !!

She is then divorced & sent away to her house after being used (like a use and throw object) and returns in a rickshaw – her back is shown all stained in blood and while entering her house she says to her parents :He did'nt want marriage but only ‘sex' – as if it was NEWS to her parents !

Later it is shown that where ever her father went – society people used to make comments like – ‘he sold his daughter – now with the money he is leading a lavish life – they were telling the truth – but since truth is very bitter – her father commits suicide by hanging himself by the fan !

I Think this is the reason why ‘female foeticide' is alarmingly on the rise – well in a way its good – it certainly saves a 12-13 years young girl from being ‘humped' by frustrated , old , haggard , slimy old pigs ! Its better a girl-child dies in the womb – rather than taking birth and die daily in this sex-starved society !!

Probably this was the reason why during earlier days – young girls had to wed haggard old men – because women reach their Menopause at around 42 whereas men can go on with sex till 80 plus also – thanks to Scientists – esp. Chemists for solutions like Viagra, valium etc….! But then even that turned out to be a failure – as wives became promiscuous – but natural – when at 30 – she had to look after 65 – 70 years old husband with young blood of the locality around – she probably couldn't keep her chastity !..

Basically – more or less all permutations and combinations turned out to failures in one way or the other …the best way out is our National Pledge after all – All Indians are my brothers and sisters…..

Anyways – after her father's expiry – the eldest daughter is sent to one of her relative's house ( some distant sister and her husband take her away to their house). But this was the beginning of yet another misery – the husband of her cousin sister tries to ‘hump' her at night!

His wife comes running and stops him saying – ‘ You are not ashamed – you have children and wife' - to this her husband replies – ‘ have you seen how beautiful she is – and look at your own face – what wrong have I done to enjoy her beauty?' – his wife was dark and ugly to look at .

A great Revelation has been made here by the Director – but alas the illiterate Indian female mass did not understand it : That – if you are not a good looking, fair & sensual looking woman – please do not get married and invite misery towards yourself – by bringing forth more ugly looking - frustrated children – and cooking, washing utensils and clothes of a ‘thankless' swine – he will certainly leave you - if ever - by chance he gets a ‘better' looking bed partner!

He might keep you as a maid servant to cook & wash his clothes – but would you like to remain a ‘maid servant' in your own house for ever? NO – Never – Wake Up – Women – Please wake up for heaven's sake – lead a respectful life – self respect is the greatest wealth that should be maintained by humans – nothing else is more important than that !! Lord Krishna asked Arjuna to fight and go for bloodshed – just to keep alive Truth and respect for the truth – your Self is your greatest Truth – Keep it respectfully!

Anyways she leaves that house and lands up in the most obvious place : A brothel – all this is shown happening in Hyderabad. She fights for the ‘wrong' done to her – for 8 long years – by paying the Advocate through selling her body. She loses the case after 8 years since the Sheikh was too rich to get entangled with a puny case of divorcing a lower class family girl.

There is a Police raid in the brothel and they all had to leave base and run. She lands up in Mumbai – she is grown up now – and the character is played by Manisha Koirala. In the Police station she is asked about her whereabouts and identity and she screams and says that she is a ‘ Prost--tute' – the Police man – please tie your safety belts – takes her for a ‘hump' session – she renders him ‘sexual services' and in the morning he asks her where she will go and what is her rate – she had no where to go - so he rings up a Fashion Designer friend of his – who was basically a Pimp – but for the outside world – he was a Fashion designer – he was a eunuch.

HE says ‘ hello' to Manisha – but since she was a slum dweller – did not know a word of English – she replies as ‘ Aloo' – since she was recommended by the Police Officer – she had to be taken by the eunuch – so he introduces her to his other modern – English speaking girls (thanks to English medium schools – otherwise Indian girls would only have been cheap rated Hindi speaking who-es all their lives and English speaking whor-s would have to be imported from abroad !)- Well after 3 months we see a polished English speaking Manisha!- must have joined some ‘spoken English' Institute – now available in every nook and corner of any Indian city – Indians realized the worth of International Language ‘English' rather late !

Well – they show the risky, deplorable life cycles of such ‘call girls' and Item dancers and bar dancers – Manisha reaches UAE with one of her friends (played by sexy Suman Rangnathan) who was a ‘kept' of some Indian under world don settled in UAE – Manisha spots the old haggard rich oil merchant – and confesses her wish to ‘kill him' - to the under world don. The Don gives her a pistol - she reaches his house in a ‘burkha' – and kills the old – haggard man – who was her legally wedded husband once upon a time !

Thus she takes her revenge – from the one responsible for making her a wh-re.

So you see folks – how the continuous negligence of educated Indian citizens – towards the slum dwellers – ultimately turn out to be ?!- Slum dwellers- proliferating – giving birth to daughters – they remain uneducated – grow up – develop breasts – beasts are ready to pounce on them – the same beasts have their own wives and children at home – these beasts are born to the yesteryear ‘clients' who visited wh-res and made them pregnant – it also so happens that the ‘sperm' that fertilized a wh-re's egg – and the sperm that fertilized a ‘wife's egg – both belong to the same BEAST!

– this means that the possibility of incest is also on the rise – eg. Son of the client goes to visit the same brothel – his father used to visit and he might be offered his ‘seed' sister to ‘hump' !! - but in spite of all these possibilities - ‘sex' with wh-res – a habit cannot be curbed – results in Broken homes – which in turn gives rise to more frustrated sons and daughters – a complete ruckus – a sex starved sick society – the wrath of the pros--tutes – as well as the wives (whose hubbies visit the wh-res )…absolute unrest – unhappiness…its not the time to DISCO folks – it's the time to DISCUSS – how to come out of this situation.

A ''c'' grade film in a real sense
Nov 15, 2003 07:46 AM4188 Views

I dont know why people are praising a c grade film so much . this rotten market is a cheap, ordinary , awful and disgusting diologue oriented film... strictly no no with family .

extremly shame ful dialogues are there like in the first scene when manisha was shooting on a customer and the ''naikaa'' say to that customer that if u want DOUBLE ACTION (sexual intercourse from both front vagina and back i.e. butocks.. ) I will give you another prostitute for THAT purpose... yukk.. just thing what will be the level of this disgusting c graded film... I didnt listen any shameful dialogue more then this in any film.

also Manisha looked extremly fat, specially in her entry' first scene in which she came out of the room with shouting on the customer by saying ''OEY harraam kay bhar-khao, ja apni ghar wali kay pas ja, wohi sanbhaley gi na tu ko... hum dhandha kartee hain is ka matlab yeh nahi keh kuch bhi kar humarey saath .. haraami, ghaleej, maati milaey....'' she looked very fat in this scene specially in her veri first screen appearance she just looked like the fat lady comedian GUDDI MARUUTI with big fat face and double chin.

also many other scenes were disgusting like when manisha was only of 13 the arab rape her and red paint was spreaded on the bed to show her loss of virganity... again a 3rd class approach of the director...

the two other prostitutes were looking just like teh same I mean shweta menon and suman 's personalities are just like expensive call girls also in real, so no credit goes for them. only the underworld don Goving namdev impresses.

and offcourse Manisha is manisha... she again shpw high caliber sensitive performance in a poorly written character.

The viewer didnt feel any sympathy for the call girls but the director showed them very happy, satisfied and enjoying their way of life ... just opposite to other films made on prostitutes ' life.

the story was straight out childish and immature , screen play was interesting but couldnt helped a kiddish story line that seems to be written buy an amateur young guy of 8th standard.

production values were shoddy, cheap and b graded as teh film itself.. songs were placed just to add more masala in already a film made just to warm up the audience sexual desires ...

over all a real c graded film with only single A graded THING ..i.e. manisha FAT koirala

Where everything is for sale!!!

We`ve been watching many movies being made on the lives of prostitutes! In,the lists comes one more, named ''Market''!Here market doesn`t mean a shop where producers and consumers deal, and buy the product which the consumers wish to!Here, market means the place where girls are sold as prostitutes! We`ve seen wonderful movies, like ''Chandni Bar'' on such topics! The same can be said about ''Market''!Although this film wasn`t given enough hype, and it released silently! The trailors seemed attractive, with written things like ''sexy b-a-b-e'',''Hello!'',''Have fun''? and ''Lust''!So,were these things written only to attract people that there is lots of skin show here,or it really turns out to be what the trailors mean to say?It does!

THE FILM:

Trimulai Pictures,''Market'',directed by Jai Prakash, stars Manisha Koirala,Shweta Menon,Suman Ragnanathan,Govind namdeo,Sayaji Shinde and Aryan Vaid!Films made on the lives of prostitutes have been seen several times, but this one is with difference and twists and turns!

THE CHARACTERS AND PERFORMANCES:

1.Muskan(Manisha Koirala):Muskan,is a prostitute in an infamous brothel in Hyderabad. She is basically an innocent girl, whose poor parents get her married to an Arab man,who is unlike Muskan, very rich! After one week,he gives Muskan divorce, due to which a case takes place and the Arab man wins. After eight years,Muskan goes to Mumbai,to be a prostitute. There she becomes a very famous plus modern prostitute,Malika!Manisha Koirala,is in complete form, giving her best performance in recent times!Although, she looks very fat,its her acting on which the viewer will concentrate more! She last week made a cameo in Calcutta Mail, but here she is the main character and am I lucky or what?My favourite Manisha Koirala`s film released last week and this week too, again I`m watching her film!YEAH!

2.Isha(Shweta Menon):Isha,is a modern girl, and a call girl, and her work starts when her phone rings! She introduces Muskan,to this job,in Mumbai!Shweta Menon is excellent in a supporting role! She has alot of screen presence and she has done full justice to this role of Isha!

3.Lisa(Suman Ragnanathan):Lisa is also a call girl, like Isha and she along with Isha introduces this unusual job to the Hyderabadi girl Muskan!Suman Ragnanathan is considered to act in C-grade films, but in this film, even she leaves a mark!

4.Babloo(Aryan Vaid):Babloo is a criminal from Kanpur who falls in love with Malika(or should I say Muskan).Well,Malika has another way in life so....!Aryan Vaid is alright in a women oriented flick!

The supporting cast is also good!Sayaji Shinde as a police officer is impressive!Makrand Deshpande is a complete natural!Govind Namdeo is fine!

THE STORY:

The story is about a Hyderabadi prostitute,Muskan, who is innocent and not a very sharp girl! Her parents are very poor,so they get her married to a rich Arab man!(which does happen,in real!)After a week, the Arab gives her divorce and Muskan`s parents file a case against the Arab!As the Arab is so rich,he gives money to the judge, and nothing harms him. After eight years,Muskan goes to Hyderabad, where a pimp accepts Muskan, and introduces her to two call girls,Isha and Lisa! They help Muskan to understand this job,and describe all the rules of this job!Well,Muskan gets sophisticated and from Muskan becomes Malika!Later on,Lisa and Malika are called to perform a dance in Dubai, and there the Arab is also present! Now,the story takes a turn, and Muskan decides to take revenge!

THE WORK OF THE CREW:

Jai Prakash`s direction is just superb! All the scenes, for example when Lisa and isha enter in Muskan`s life or where Muskan meets the Arab in Dubai, are very well executed! The film is believable and close to reality!Screenplay is also another plus point! The film grips the viewers attention, from the very start of the film!Editing is alright. The film tends to be a bit dragged,in the second half!Cinematography and sets are wonderful!Another plus points of the movie!Altaf Raja`s music is not all that good, except for ''Hum Pyaar jo tera paayein ge''!The song ''Meri gali main tera aana'' comes at just the right place!

ON THE WHOLE:

''Market'' is a very well-made film,in every respect!Already,it was a relief to see a nice movie, after the awful ''Boom'',which I saw on the pirated V.C.D!This film is obviously worth a dekho and for all those this movie is a must see,who liked ''Chandni Bar''
