The most hilarious and stupid movie I have ever seen. Star Cast: Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha, Minisha Lamba, Shreyas Talpade. If you really want to laugh without any reasons, Joker is one the movie. I am sure, you will do anything, but laugh. The story is very run-of the-mill. Akshay(Augustya), a NASA scientist returns to India to improve the condition of his village named'Paglapur', apparently which has lost its identity from the face of the earth. Now since the administrators have no clue as to under whose jurisdiction Paglapur exist, To improve the situation, Augustya with the help of the villagers hatches an absurd plan to attract media and the administration's attention, but somehow the scheme doesn't work out eventually leading to utter chaos. Finally, the'unimaginable' happens and Paglapur gets the due it long deserved. I would preffer others not to watch tihs movie.

Joker is a pathetic movie! Yeah believe me guys, I'm saying it myself!

Wondering 'WHY' Akshay Kumar is doing these type of movies? You are a lotus in a dirt pond, Akki!

Sonakshi Sinha, Shreyas Talpade, Minissha Lamba I mean rest of all are wasted!

Thank god Akshay Kumar backed out from the promotion of Joker as he was cheated by the director Shirish Kunder.

I just hate Shirish Kunder after watching Joker. How can a man just make this type of a ridiculous movie! It was because of his wife that he got two biggest stars of Bollywood in his two films, but he doesn't deserve biggies anymore!

Recently I saw thie movie its very worst movie I have ever seen in my life.Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi's couple PFFTTT! Worst couple ever of Bollywood.I hate the fictitious plot of this film.

I mean just look, the story is that Agastiya( Akshay Kumar) and Dive depart from USA all the way to Agastiya's village Paglapur as a person in his village said that Agastiya's father is sick and is a guest for some days. Then the secret is revealed that they wanted to just see the item dance of Chitraganda on the songKafira in Paglapur. They made Agastiya leave and later he came back when Diva was in trouble. Then Agastiya wanted his village to become rich by creating a fake project of aliens.Baban( Shreyas Talpade) was a person speaking gibberish language and they wanted to make fake aliens. Then the movie is under suspense when a white named Simon believes it is fake. Then Agastiya wears the same clothes his family wears. Then they show media fake aliens. Then in the end aliens come and they reward Paglapur with oil and movie ended.Atrocious movie a simple foreplay, it very worth movie dony wasye your time in watvhing this movie.

Joker 2012 movie review
Aug 15, 2016 02:48 PM 3816 Views

A village created by mental asylum escapees called Paglapur(so smart). Well, not really. You may end up feeling like a part of this village which somehow escaped the world’s sight for 60 years.Anyway, in all JOKER can easily be termed as a poor or bizarre film made on an interestingly fresh plot which had enough space for a good comedy and many innovative enjoyable sequences in its storyline.

The film majorly is a disappointment due to its mediocre and awful treatment(including the script, execution or direction) which takes the plot too lightly in an over-confident manner and fails to deliver in the end. As a matter of fact, JOKER can be perfectly used to prove these Cinematic Truths that'The Director is always the real captain of the ship undeniably' and'What seems to be good on the paper might not be equally good or entertaining on the screen'.

What a joke...

This is the most hilarious and stupid movie I have ever seen in my life.It is probarbly the worst film that was accompanied by Akshay Kumar. The songs are not too bad, the cinematography was normal, the plot was stupid and nonsensical and the cast performance was also not too good.Watching this awful and pathetic movie is a total waste of time and money and I would recommend you not to watch it.The movie is a bit humourous but the things shown in this movie are the ones which cannot be seen in the real life.

YES! THAT’S RIGHT!! Amazing, eh! Well if you are able to leave your brain out, then it’s positively yes, I knew about movie’s bakwaas story, I knew movie was a hopeless, and that’s why for the exact reason my time is passed easily, and I kind of enjoy the movie. This review is about a movie named JOKER made by another JOKER of this industry Shirish Kunder. No wonder why Akshay Kumar backed up at the last moment from the films publicity. This guy’s a crack, how did Farah lives with him, but as everybody use to say “LOVE IS BLIND”. Anyways this movie is made under the banner of Farah Khan’s ‘Three’s Company’  and co-produced by Akshay Kumar himself, marks 2nd movie of Shirish as director after Salmaan-starrer Jaaneman. TMK was the earlier movie which saw the trio of Akshay-Farah-Shirish, but it was partly saved by the direction of Farah.

Here’s the story – A man who is working on a machine which will contact alien (just like Rakesh Roshan did in Koi Mil Gaya), his name is Agastya (Akshay Kumar), and he’s Mohan Bhargava of Swades, and comes back to his village alongwith his girl-friend Diva (Sonakshi Sinha), the village name is PAGLAPUR, which was once the town consisting the biggest mental hospital, and now only mental live there. But because of them, nobody visited or enters that spooky village. This team of mad guys included Agastya squinted dad played by Darshan Jariwala, Agastya’s brother Babban (Shreyas Talpade, I am still wondering what he was doing in the movie with his out-of-mind blabbering, abba-jabba kind!, this time it goes like golkot man ka bhusi), Vindu Dara Singh (he become a natural choice), Kachua (Pitobash, waste of wonderful actor), teacher (Asrani), self-claimed Rajaji (Sanjay Mishra), Lord Falkland’s grandson (). Now there stand a bigger problem that this deserted village is facing shortage of water, for this When Agastya went to the CMs of Mukhya Pradesh, Uttam Pradesh or Prajasthan states, he came to know that their village is not in the map of India, so nobody can help them, then he decided to create a lore of alien coming, so that the village attracts media and attention from all over the world just like ‘Peepli Live’ did.

Plot, as I already said, bakwaas, but I still hope something should be there just like TMK. I enjoyed movie, and I liked the movie being a short one (just 1 hr 50 min), that was enough of watching a nonsense! I thought that maybe after making TMK, Shirish will not take another dig at unusual madness, but he did it again, and make it a worse attempt. This movie is a kind of parody stuff, and both wife and husband are interested in making parody movies only. In foreign there is this prevalent concept of mixing 3-4 original film and making a parody film out of them, and generally all those parody movies attracts viewers, like ‘Scary Movie’, they also shows nonsense, but still they do it the brainy way. This movie should be called the Indian Scary Movie for it scared the hell out of viewers (They thought ‘what the hell is going on’), had it been treated better and given some more respect by director himself, who knows, maybe it could become a hit, but khair chhodo! Still movie passes your time if you went there with blank mind and expression, they tried to put comedy tracks, but it was very few. Some dialogues come good (only some!) like when they discuss about Joker’s role in the game of card. Plus I liked the photography, it was foolish to think about the setup they staged, and clothes they wear or the things they do, but still the picturisation looks good to me, think of a village which have a spooky looking houses, and some scenes of the film is shot in gray light, which comes as good. Background score fitted well and everytime gave the movie a feel of fantasy and scary at same time. The songs were also not so good, but fitted well to the plot and enjoyed them too. The song which I liked is ‘I Want Just you’ an item number acted by Chitrangada singh, and sung by Sunidhi Chauhan. Lyrics by Shirish are idiotic, but music by Gaurav Dagaonkar was good. Other songs include ‘Jugnu’, ‘Sing Raja, and ‘Yeh Joker’. Now if we talk about casting and acting department I must say that this movie wasted a lot of talent of Bollywood cinema like Asrani, Pitobash and many more. Now what exactly was Shreyas doing in the movie, I think as of now he don’t have any work, and in a dire need of money, that’s why these kind of roles he is getting. I think this movie will certainly get most nominations for ‘The Golden Kela Award’, and Shreyas will certainly get nominated for the famous ‘BAWRA HO GAYA HAI KE’ award category. Minishha Lamba was also there, why, I don’t know but no problem, she got nothing to do.

Well, you can easily avoid this crap of a movie but with minimal or no expectation, you can actually enjoy the idiotic movie. Just think that you are yourself a mad guy from mad-pur village! If you’re able to handle TMK, you can handle this one, and if not thinking then wow! That could be one of the best decisions of your life. I heard somewhere that Shirish commented that this movie is intended for kids, well, what do you think Shirish, today’s kids are more intelligent than you! My take 2/5. Hope Farah can instill some brain-matter in Shirish’s mind.

Joking?

From bufoonery in A grade trash to now playing lead in a B grade Sci fi comedy, Akshay seems to be stretching his luck too far with this one.

While the film has a good premise and decent direction, the comedy gets repetitive and the pedestrian graphics and post production work is apparent very soon. The detailing is right out of a B Grade TV program such as Shaktiman. The bohemian costumes are passable while the Hinglish dialogues from Villagers are not. Good in patches, the film is not good enough for intelligent audience.

This 'Joker' fails to Entertain!
Sep 01, 2012 09:32 AM 25535 Views

Over the years, crop circles have mysteriously appeared at many places across the world. Many people have also reportedly claimed to have witnessed aliens and UFOs. Hollywood has gone all out in making some of the most memorable films on these extra-terrestrial phenomenons. As far as Bollywood is concerned, except Koi Mil Gaya (and Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai to an extent), none of the films had aliens as the centre of attention. In that context, Joker comes out at an apt time. But unfortunately, it turns out to be an amateurish attempt. Many jokes fall flat while the second half just doesn’t come out well. Sad, very sad, in fact, especially because the premise was so interesting!

The story of the movie: 1946. Due to a bizarre incident, the British failed to put Paglapur in the map of the country. 60 years hence, the place is still not on the map. Agastya (Akshay Kumar), a resident of the village has shifted base to USA and is trying since two years to communicate with the aliens with the help of a sophisticated device that he has created. However, his efforts don’t bear fruit and he has just few days to prove his worth to the people backing his project. When he learns that his father (Darshan Jariwala) is on the deathbed, he rushes to Paglapur along with his girlfriend Diva (Sonakshi Sinha). Agastya is pained to see the village’s condition even after 60 years of independence. Moreover, none of the three states bordering it are ready to make Paglapur part of their territory. This is when Agastya hits upon a novel idea to put the spotlight on his village.

There are millions of villages in our country, each with its own set of problems and challenges. The government and to an extent, the media too isn’t kind enough to address the problems of the villages on a regular basis or till the solution is found. Hence, when ‘Being Human’ doesn’t work, one must go for ‘Being Alien’ to make your village stand out from the rest! And this was certainly a very interesting idea by Shirish Kunder. But the script was ineffective. The world of Paglapur was imaginative but was too over the top. Few of the characters (of Sanjay Mishra, Vrajesh Hirjee and Pitobash) are anything but funny. Nevertheless, the film holds your interest till the very end. What helps is the fact that film is just 105 minutes long.

The first half still keeps things interesting and hopeful. But the second half spoils it all. The much-publicized ‘aliens’ don’t have much to do in the film. Moreover, the FBI, media, armymen etc don’t search for the aliens and merely stand at night outside the jungle and observe! Not done! The twist in the climax begins funnily but again, the film culminates with on an unconvincing note.

Joker boasts of lots of talented actors but only few have significant roles. Akshay Kumar as always plays his part effectively. Viewers might not like the film but would surely appreciate his performance. One can’t understand Akshay’s decision of not promoting Joker. Hopefully, OMG Oh My God, Special Chabbis and sequel to Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai would be added in the list of his hit films besides his blockbusters this year – Housefull 2 and Rowdy Rathore! Sonakshi Sinha looks stunning and plays her part well. But I am really dying to see her in an author-backed role. Because she deserves it and has the trappings of a brilliant performer!

Shreyas Talpade (Babban) was cute and funny as Agastya’s brother. From the villagers, Asrani leaves a mark, and also Darshan Jariwala to an extent. Vindoo Dara Singh raised laughs at few places. Sanjay Mishra, Asrani and the actor who plays Lord Falkland didn’t have much to do. Aarya Babbar’s presence made viewers feel that he’ll be having a substantial role. But sadly, he is there for just one scene. Same goes for Minissha Lamba who’s present for most part of the film but doesn’t get much to do and is not given many dialogues as well. Anjan Srivastava, Avtar Gill and the other minister play their part well. Gurpreet Ghuggi and Pitobash are wasted. Chitrangda Singh looks sizzling in the item number.

Gaurav Dagaonkar and G V Prakash Kumar’s music is peppy. Jugnu and Yeh Joker are the best songs of the lot and picturised well. Late Samir Chanda’s production design and Sukant Panigrahy’s art direction is impressive. Sudeep Chatterjee and Anay Goswami’s cinematography was brilliant.

Now to the man everyone’s talking about – Shirish Kunder! His editing and background score was decent. And as mentioned above, story was impressive but script fails to do justice. And so does his direction. One can argue that Joker isn’t a film to look for logic and that it’s a film targeted at kids. Firstly, logic can be overlooked and some of the best comic capers from Bollywood are the ones where logic and practicality has taken backseat. But these films seemed convincing while Joker isn’t. And secondly, are kids really happy with Joker? Also, take out any well-made kiddie film and one will realize that these were the films that were enjoyed by both, kids and adults alike. Joker will fail to entertain majority of children and grown-ups. A golden chance lost, very unfortunately!

On the whole, Joker rests on an interesting premise but script and direction play spoilsport. The ‘aliens’ that were all over the place pre-release don’t have much to do in the film. Reports suggest that Joker was made on reasonable costs. Even if it’s true, Joker will still find it tough to sustain at the box office.

I was bit shocked to note that though the release date of the film ‘Joker’ was coming closer but there was no attempt made for the publicity of the film prior to its release, which is very rare. The news of the lead actor and one of the co-producer of film Akshay Kumar staying away from the publicity was another shock. I also read somewhere that Akshay Kumar was not happy with the end result of the film as the film has not lived up to the expected standards, which was enough to minimize the expectations from the film, which was not a good sign.

We have seen and adored many science fiction products made in Hollywood, so the news of a film was being made in India, which was about aliens, did sound good. Shirish Kunder, who has earlier given us a dud ‘Jaan-e-mann’ few years ago, once again donned the mask of director besides writing & editing the film. The responsibility of huge as the big question was “will he deliver good with Joker?” Well, the controversies prior to the film’s release surely gave a hint of the answer but it would have been silly to write off the film without watching it.

Shirish Kunder has attempted to narrate the story of a fictitious village ‘Paglapur’, which unfortunately being in the center of three states, didn’t fall under the jurisdiction of any of the three, hence was completely ignored by these states and has remained undeveloped. Akshay Kumar, a scientist in USA has been working since two years on a machine that can communicate with the aliens, has been given one month’s time to show results else his project will be shelved forever. Akshay receives the news about his father’s illness and comes to ‘Paglapur’ to see him. Due to circumstances he decides to stay in the village and try to being the village to the attention of the government authorities. How can a village that has been ignored all these days attract attention of the people?

Shirish Kunder’s attempt as a writer fails because the creativity that can bring the village Paglapur to the notice of people does not connect at all with the project of Akshay Kumar’s machine that can communicate with the aliens. Actually, the film from the writing point of view is a big let down from the word go till the very end. Even though the film is only 105 minutes long as Shirish as editor has tried to chop most of the unwanted scenes to make the film watchable, the viewers are still left hunting for something significant to happen on the screen that can boost the energy level but alas. Though he did well to keep the melodrama away from the film that could have further deteriorated the taste of the film.

Shirish Kunder has tried to attempt too many things together because he is also the lyricist of the film and has managed to write below average stuff. Only ‘Yeh Joker’ has some meaningful words wher as others just fit the bill. Music by G.V. Parakash Kumar is kust ok because ‘Just you’ and Yeh Joker’ are the only two songs that entertains the viewers.

Photography is ok but the special effects are not good enough for a film that has the concept of aliens, because such films heavily depend on them.

Dialogues are not at all impressive. Only few one liners given to Asrani brings smile on your face.

Performances wise there was not much for anyone including Shrayas Talpade, Minisha Lamba, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Vindoo Dara Singh, etc. All are there just to be a part of the crowd. Minisha Lamba hardly spoke five dialogues; Shreyas spoke a gibberish language, which was fortunately understood by the aliens, who finally lands on planet earth. Though Chitrangada Singh scores with her dance moves in ‘Just you’ song. Sonakshi Sinha looks gorgeous in Western outfit and does her part well.

Director is like the captain of the ship, who has to maneuver the ship efficiently through rough weather at times. Shirish Kunder should watch some good films and then must work as an assistant with a good director before taking up his new assignment because he lacks the vision of a creator as a director. Though he might have ideas but to bring them alive on the screen is a different ball game altogether. He should watch ‘Joker’ as a viewer and should try to analyze what went wrong.

‘Joker’ as we all know is the 53rd card in the pack, which has no colour but goes well with the pack as the holder of Joker at times scores above all. But our Joker has been presented as a joker of the circus.

I feel sad for Akshay Kumar because this was his 100th film and much before the release of it, he knew the outcome. Though he has performed to perfection but even his diehard fans would be disappointed with the film to some extent.

There are only two things that goes in favour the film, one – the duration, second – the budget, which is not big that does brings a ray of hope to recover the price of the film.

Rating – 1.5 / 5 stars.

Joker: Bad Joke Of The Day
Aug 31, 2012 08:42 PM 3719 Views

A certain section of the audience walked out of the theatre much before the film was over. "Yaar disprin de do," a guy said as he walked past me once the film was over. Another boy whipped out an obscene expletive, making his disgusting-cinema-watching experience loud-n-clear. There are no prizes for guessing that I am talking about 'Joker'. Akshay Kumar, wisely stayed away from promotions of this film but dude what were you thinking when you said yes to a film like this in the first place?

The premise of the film is based in a village called 'Paglapur'. Now, the director made me buy a ticket for watching a film that can make any one go NUTS. FBI, NASA, Indian Army's tanks (cardboard tigers), soldiers (laced with laser guns that never ever hit the target) and a bunch of cartoon politcos. 'Ancient Human' Vindu Dara Singh, shrill Pitobash, 'Alien-lingo-pro' Shreyas Talpade (Joker is way ahead in being an intolerable hackneyed-hamming experience than Hum Tum Aur Shabana), supportive bosoms of Minissha Lamba (she hardly has a dialogue and her claim to fame is a clinging-in-white wet dance right at the end), Sonakshi Sinha gives up the city polish and settles in the comfort-zone of village-belle curves (What a dampener to her 440 watt guest appearance in Rowdy Rathore). Akshay Kumar desperately tries to save a film that has 'Disaster' written all over it, and fails miserably.

Asrani brings in a few laughs with his wrong English but then you are trying all efforts to find semblance of anything remotely good with the film. Shirish Kunder's directorial debut 'Jaaneman' had a great music score. Each song is worth-listening. Any day. Gulzar sahab had written fantastic lyrics for that film. But here, story, screenplay, lyrics, background score, editing, direction (I am sure there must be more 'credits) are hoarded by Shirish Kunder. It is a perfect case of obsessive nascissism and the results are disastrous to say the least.

Do yourself a favour and stay far far away from this Joke of a movie.

Film : Joker  Producer : Ronnie Screwvala, Farah Khan, Director : Shirish Kunder     Star Cast : Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha, Minisha Lamba, Shreyas Talpade. Music Director : G V Prakash Kumar, Gaurav Gagonkar

Rating :  With the last few films of Akshay Kumar not being good entertainers and the poor promotions had taken its toll on the initial craze for the movie. Joker has however performed better than expected. Better than expected only because there were no expectations at all. It is a completely predictable movie and not very long making it tolerably good being riddled with a few puns, good choreography and screenplay. Joker Review Other Ratings Average Movie Rating 2.5 Sify Not yet rated Joker review     Deccan     Not yet rated...     The Times of India     Not yet rated...     BharatStudent     Not yet rated...     Rediff     Not yet rated... Story Scene shift, Agastya, our hero (Akshay Kumar) is a US scientist who is in the search of extra-planetary life. Although he makes serious efforts he has nothing to show in the results to the sponsors who give him a deadline of one month so he can be continued to be funded. At this exact time he receives word that his father is seriously ill and rushes back to his village abandoning the work along with his diva girlfriend Sonakshi Sinha. The village is filled with basket cases. Agasthya's brother (Shreyas Talpade) has a strange way of speaking altogether, his father (Darshan Jariawala) is cross-eyed and a friend who can only speak at a blaring loud level. To add to the nut-cases another teacher who is convinced that the WWII is still on. On reaching the village Akshay finds that the illness was fake but he wanted to help the people in the village who had been experiencing the worst situation. As mentioned earlier, Pagalpur is a non-existent place for the government as it was not on the maps anywhere. No water, electricity, roads or any such services. Seeing no avenues to seek help within the village, he moves to the neighboring village for help.He tries to make the media believe that the extra-terrestrial world is creating crop circles in the village of Pagalpur and attract them to the village. Some untimely songs which are well choreographed are cued up and things start to get brighter. But Agastya’s competitor Simon Goeback, too obviously fake a name, (Alexx Onell) calls the whole thing a set up and a hoax in Pagalpur. How the thing sorts out is better watched on the screen as it already seems a bit loose. Analysis : Joker review The title itself is too simple but has been very apt for the movie. In short this movie is too simple to be a movie in the first place. Don't even question the logic of the movie; you are only asking to be disappointed. Every single minute of the movie is clearly predictable making it not a good watch. What you can appreciate is a few dialogues and puns, Simon Goeback, and Ayega song is worth waiting as it comes at an impeccable timing. What I feel is that Agastya could have gone back without any hesitation. The reason Kunder shows in the movie is more of a forced attempt to make people accept that he had to stay back. How can you believe that the crop circles which were confirmed by several scientists renowned from the world over be dismissed by one Simon Goeback almost in no time. If I were in the army scene surrounding the forest, I would have thought better to hide in the forest and stay mum to get them not open fire. Performance : Joker review Akshay Kumar could have done a lot better to make the movie worth the buy. Other actors overact or merely read their lines. Sonakshi Sinha has not much of a role but to merely cling to Akshay Kumar which she does decently well. The brother, Shreyas Talpade is also pretty good with his gibberish all throughout the movie. Luckily for the audience Minissha Lamba doesn't stay long on the screen as the reporter. Darshan Jariwala and Asrani are truly commendable with their roles. Asrani can definitely tickly your funny bones with a soft feather while he assumes that WWII is still on. Shirish Kunder had not much of a role to do with the narrow predicable script but he does his job. Editing could have been better and not so choppy. Gaurav Dagaonkar and G. V. Prakash Kumar’s songs are enjoyable especially since the screenplay is decently good with the bright visual effects.. Sudeep Chatterjee and Anay Goswami’s cinematography is laudable. Final Word: Joker Review Nothing worth the money or time but a time-pass movie fairly amusing at times. You wouldn't miss anything even if you don't watch it. For the fans, you may watch it once.

Movie Review
Aug 31, 2012 04:32 PM 3258 Views

His not not that excited for this movie, because this movie is not hyped and is all set to release for tomorrow.

The story is very run-of the-mill. Akshay (augustya), a nasa scientist returns to india to improve the condition of his village named ‘paglapur’, apparently which has lost its identity from the face of the earth. Now since the administrators have no clue as to under whose jurisdiction paglapur exist, augustya’s village is devoid of any basic amenities like bijli and paani leading to the inhabitants going eccentric who incidentally happen to be former fugitives of a mental asylum. To improve the situation, augustya with the help of the villagers hatches an absurd plan to attract media and the administration’s attention, but somehow the scheme doesn’t work out eventually leading to utter chaos.

Finally, the ‘unimaginable’ (which was very predictable) happens and paglapur gets the due it long deserved.

In the acting department, besides akshay, shreyas talpade manages to tickle the funny bone with his gibberish talk. Sonakshi, as usual is just there for the ornamental purpose, but what is really unfortunate is the editing of the film which I expected to be top class considering that it is coming from shirish kunder, the master editor himself.

Oh! I almost forgot the mention the best thing about ‘joker’. Undoubtedly the gorgeous chitrangada singh, who rocks in ‘kaafirana’. Wish there was more her in the film.

Watch it for her, if you must. So how many of you gonna watch this flick ???

Joker is an upcoming Hindi fantasy adventure film directed by Shirish Kunder, and also his second directorial venture after Jaan-E-Mann. The film stars Akshay Kumar opposite Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles. This will be the second film in which Sinha is paired opposite Kumar after Rowdy Rathore. The film will release worldwide on August 31st, 2012. Joker is reportedly Akshay Kumar's 100th film. The trailer of the film revealed on 11 July 2012, and also in cinemas along with Cocktail.

Plot :

In 1947 when the maps of India and Pakistan were being drawn, an oversight ensured that the village of Paglapur didn’t find a place in either country. The village had the distinction of housing the largest mental asylum in the region and in the melee that ensued during partition, the asylum inmates broke loose, drove away the villagers and established their own republic in Paglapur. And that’s how it stayed for the next 60 years! While the world outside changed, Paglapur remained isolated, with no electricity, television or sanity! Now, decades after the world forgot this village, a NASA scientist of Indian origin, Raj/Agasthya (same name as Akshay Kumar had in Jaaneman) and his wife, Manali find themselves on the road to Paglapur. Raj is working on a top secret project for creating a device to communicate with aliens. So why is he in a village whose colourful inhabitants include a man who speaks in gibberish, another who thinks he is a lamp post and everyone else who think Mahatma Gandhi is still around, fighting for independence?

Production (Development) :

Shirish Kunder had the project in development for several years before finding financial backing, and had to negotiate for use of the specific title which Kunder stated is important to the script itself. The film is being produced by Farah Khan, Shirish Kunder, and Akshay Kumar under the banner of Three's Company and Hari Om Entertainment. The film was shot in 3D using 3D cameras, however in June 2012, it was announced that the film was no longer in 3D anymore, since Ra.One and Don 2 have taken the goals, if Joker flopped it would be a loss on the whole crew, therefore the film will only be released in 2D format. According to director, Shirish Kunder, "It is an underdog story about how individuals make it big in life and in the process, get help from aliens from a fictional planet". Shreyas Talpade will play Akshay's brother in the film. Female lead opposite to Shreyas will be played by Minisha Lamba, who will enact the role of an innocent TV reporter. Sonakshi will also perform an item number in the film. American actor Alexx ONell was also signed to play a role in the film.

On Twitter, Sonakshi Sinha, the leading actress revealed the reason for the confusing title- Joker. She wrote on Twitter: “JOKER refers to a place that does not exist on the global map. Just like #Joker in a pack of cards that does not belong to any colour.”

The film has got some amazing Aliens, all designed by Preetisheel G Singh.
