Deewane Hue Paagal, Starring:Shahid kapoor, Rimi Sen, Akshay Kumar .It is a comedy movie shot in india and dubai. The movie is based on how a boy starts his journey to dubai and to get back his college crush in his life again. The movie is very comedy and there's action, romance too in this movie. But There is one more movie which has a similar storyline. The Name of that movie is'There's Something About Mary" Starring:Ben Stiller, Cameron Diaz.if you search in youtube you will come to know.but I liked both movies, both are comedy, .and personally specially I like Akshay kumar .The music is fair.and all the actors have done good job in both bollywood and hollywood part.both are nice movies to watch.very funny.

Not a good film for all

Not very many individuals truly had any stupendous desires from this motion picture, seeing the way it was publicized.Weird television trailors, fair melodies and no media buzz before its discharge made it a non starter.Deewane huye paagal is, all things considered, similar to an exceptionally skilled group not playing upto its blemish on a given day. Envision, you have Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, Om Puri, the new amusing man Akshay Kumar but then the parody track is totally off key.

The motion picture starts with Vivek Oberoi as the sutradhar, hamming to the handle. The charachters are presented one by one, however there is no genuine science. The melodies are a major let down. The main time you really chuckle is the point at which the four charachters, Kumar, Rawal, Shetty and Shahid Kapoor unite and share screen time. Going to the exhibitions: Shahid Kapoor: has a totally creator upheld part, however wears the same significant other stricken expression all through the motion picture. Akshay Kumar: Has the best lines and his chutzpah makes him look keen in a normal motion picture Rimmi Sen:

Has not a lot to do, with the exception of look pretty( however she is not a fix on her Dhoom symbol) Paresh Rawal: is in great scratch yet is not given sufficient degree by the script Suneil Shetty: puts in a genuine execution, his interesting strolling style might draw a couple chuckles Johnny Lever: loans great backing to Shahid Kapoor Om Puri: Please watch a DVD of Dev. No furthur remarks. Vijay Raaz: its peculiar why such a skilled performing artist took up such a 2-bit part, playing Akshay Kumars sidekick. To entirety up, the mind of Awaara Paagal Deewana is lost here. What goes over is a hurriedly made motion picture, with the chief evidently confounded in the matter of who the genuine legend of the motion picture is. The script, the tunes, the activity or Shahid Kapoor.Come to consider it, a genuine continuation wouldnt have been such a terrible thought

vijay raaz: - vijay raaz akshay kumar ke helper dikhae gae hai, jo akshay kumar aada teda karte hai usme vijay raaz unke sath hote hai aur comedy bhi unki bahot hi achchi hai.

om puri: - om puri villion ke father dikhate hai film me veise unka double role hai . ek charactor scintist hota hai aur ek gangster.

Deewane Huye Paagal Movie Review by me:

I finally saw it.Deewane Huye Paagal, which I should remind people is not a sequel to Awara Paagal Deewana. The movie stars Shahid Kapoor,Rimi Sen,Akshay Kumar,Paresh Rawal,Sunil Shetty,Johnny Lever, and Vijay Raaz.Produced by Firoz Nadiawala and directed by Vikram Bhatt.

To say that DHP is a comedy just isn't right.A laughathon, understatement.Basically this movie will have you crying on the floor.

the story goes Karan (Shahid) loves Tanya (Rimi). One night Tanya sees a murder and has to flee town.So she moves to Dubai and changes her name to Natasha.Karan wants to find her.So he gets the help of Rocky (Akshay) a detective.

Rocky goes in search of her with the help of his assistant (Vijay). When Rocky sees Tanya he falls in love with her.On top of that,a mental man (Paresh),a guy on crutches (Sunil),and a blind guy love her too.On top of all that she's broken an engagement with someone that loves her.

Karan goes to Dubai and looks for her.The rest you will have to see.

Positives:

-Chakle Chakle was filmed very nice.

-Akshay and Vijay rock the house.

-Shahid is excellent.

-The twists and turns in this comedy are hillarious.

-Dance compitition between Shahid and Akshay is great.Great dancing by Shahid, and hilarious dance moves by Akshay.

-The songs come at the right times.

-The stunts are amazing.

Negatives:

-Vivek Oberoi as the narrator coming back when you think he's gone.

-Maar Sutiya is chopped off to just about a minute.

Performances:

Akshay Kumar rocks the house.Along with Vijay Raaz, they have great chemistry and should do more movies together.Paresh Rawal,Sunil Shetty and Johnny Lever have the same amount of scope and are hilarious in their parts.

Rimi Sen looks gorgeous and can literally take me away.

Now on to our SHAHID:

Shahid was brilliant in his role.Sure it wasn't as big as Akshay but in my opinion his little part towered over them all.He doesn't really have much comedy. He's the one that holds the story on a serious note.

All in all you have to watch DHP.But one thing is that you can take a bathroom break when Vivek comes on.But Maar Sutiya is short and right after Vivek in the second half.So beware.Cuz I missed it.

10/10

Fantastic fun................

This is one laughathon you can enjoy with your family without squirming in your seats. Undoubtedly, Vikram Bhatt's smartest comedy to date, ''Dewaane Huye Paagal'' communicates the airy ambience of a perfect comic party.

Goofy-looking Karan (Shahid Kapur) is in love with the college beauty Tanya (Rimii). Tanya witnesses the murder of Khurana (Om Puri) and unable to get over the trauma, she takes off to Dubai with her aunt (Supriya Pilgaonkar) and changes her name to Natasha.

Unknown to Tanya, Khurana drops off an important clue in her car, which his twin brother who’s an underworld don desperately wants. The lost-in-love Karan then hires a local detective Rocky (Akshay Kumar) to go to Dubai and track her.

Expectedly, once Rocky meets Tanya, he falls head-over-heels in love with her and misleads Karan into getting over her and returning to Mumbai.

But Rocky still has competition in the form of Sanju (Sunil Shetty), Tanya’s physically challenged friend and Tommy (Paresh Rawal), who’re both trying to woo Tanya as well. The action begins when the don lands up in Dubai gunning for Tanya and the story takes a new turn.

The plot is as slender as Rimi Sen's waist. Clearly, the film's main attraction is the way the four leading men go about trying to get her attention. The hook-and-crook strategy is milked to the last delectable drop. Apart from some portions after the intermission, the situational witticism never wanes. The comedy plays itself out at a fairly high decibel. Even the songs and dances, are choreographed with a zip-and-zing that makes you sing.

The cinematography is outstanding. Not to miss the way the camera captures the Dubai locales. The high production values are reflected through the film . Also, the fact that even if you haven’t seen there is something about Marry, the film is one paisa vasool package.

The casting is just perfect. One cannot imagine anyone else playing Akshay as Rocky. His body language, the way he moves his mouth and his comic timing are superbly brought . In fact he is the soul of the film. Shahid is restrained. Sunil is first-rate . Rimi is expressive enough to leave a strong impact. Vijay Raaz is just right.Johny Lever and Paresh Rawal are, like always, extremely dependable.

Dewaane Huye Paagal isn't a film that will change your life. But it sure as hell will makes you smile, if even chuckle once in a while. Its biggest achievement is that no one, neither the director nor his cast, take the goings-on seriously. The mood of fun just springs out from the screen and grabs you with a viral vigor.

A comedy with a story too

I saw DHP a couple months ago, but never got around to posting a review of it on MouthShut until now.

The movie is overall entertaining. It works for me because it is not just a string of funny scenes, but actually has a story that holds it all together and allows for moments of drama and tension. However, DHP is far from perfect; after finishing it, I still felt something was missing.

Plot

DHP is about a bunch of male characters in love with Rimi Sen's character, and the lies and comical situations they go through to try to get close to her. DHP is also about a villainous family trying to get a hold of a toy parrot that will help them get their hands on a secret de-aging formula! Both plot strands provide their fair share of laughs, tense moments, and emotional moments.

Positives

I laughed quite a few times. Unlike Garam Masala, which I was very disappointed with yet still laughed at, DHP has more of a story -- so my laughter felt like part of a complete experience rather than something to enjoy at the time but ultimately forgettable. My favorite comedic scene is probably when Suniel and Akshay's character meet for the first time; Akshay, who is posing as an architect, is challenged to name things he had designed. I also like a funny scene where Shahid is attacked by a dog, and the cute ''picture-album'' stuff that follows it. Paresh Rawal and Suniel's first meeting is funny, also.

Emotional scenes are interspersed in the movie, well, at appropriate times. These came primarily from Shahid's character, interacting with Rimi who plays his college sweetheart. They act well in these scenes. No scenes made me cry though.

This is the first time I've really unequivocally liked Shahid Kapur, who I've also seen in Ishq Vishk and Fida. I think I liked him this time because he's not as smugly ''larger than life'' in DHP as he was in Ishq Vishk. He just plays a sweet kid, charmingly, and dances awesomely.

Viveik Anand Oberoi's narration is almost completely unnecessary. I think Viveik did fine, don't get me wrong; I just don't understand why he was there. It almost seems he was put in as an afterthought because the movie ran over-length, as a way to narrate what happened in bits that were edited out -- no idea if that is what happened or not.

Suniel Shetty is good (still not as much as in his most effective role I've seen though, as a multilayered army officer in Refugee) -- but so are Rimi Sen, Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Vijay Raaz, Johnny Lever (I realized I had been missing him!!), Om Puri and really the whole cast.

I should also mention that Aftab Shivdasani is noticeable in his small role at the end. He gives off just the right aura.

There are some twists which I didn't see coming. I was especially floored by the reveal of all the henchmen in the quarry.

The songs are okay-to-good. The one introducing Akshay (''Chakle Chakle'') is catchy despite the picturization being a little too ''sexed'' for me. I wish the song at the beginning of the second half, amidst the windmills, hadn't been cut off -- the picturization looked good to me for as much as we saw of it. The song that goes to Universal Studios in Hollywood had me wondering if they shot it when I lived in L.A., and I missed it! I also like the dance competition song between Shahid and Akshay because of its importance to characterization and plot, and because Shahid dances so well in it.

The ''values'' at the end are reassuringly Bollywood. It's easy for a movie to win me over -- just throw in someone sacrificing, hehe.

Negatives

On the negative side, I think there was a bit too much violence in this movie, and I think what Akshay did with the dog was cruel rather than funny.

Also, the interval did not feel like it came at the right place. It just sprang up.

There seemed to be some minor plot inconsistencies (though maybe that was a misunderstanding on my part). One inconsistency I noticed was that Suniel's character says he researched ''Rocky Oberoi'', but Akshay's character had told Tanya/Natasha (and Tanya had then told Suniel's character) that he was ''Rocky some_other_last_name.''

Another negative: Somehow, despite the movie working for me, it did not leave me with a feel-good feeling (Viveik talking about leaving the hall happy rang hollow with me) -- don't know why. Maybe it was too violent. Most movies these days are either too violent, too incomplete, too vulgar, too clever, or too bittersweet at the end to make me feel good. It's a real myth that Bollywood does ''feel-good'' a lot, in my opinion.

I haven't seen There's Something About Mary, so I can't compare the movies.

Overall: 7.5/10. Worth watching once.

Humour at its worst....no story line at all.

Hi,

This is nikita….i hav written 1 review b4 on kahiin to hoga…….a bizzare story by ekta kapoor…….u can hav a look at it wenever u wish 2!! Its quite a sceptical review but im sure if ur hooked on to the serial ur gonna regret it!

Wel, this one’s equally bad……..Deewane hue pagal by PRIYADARSHAN……..i had expected it to be a gr8 movie…..coz priyadarshan is considered to be 1 of the RELATIVELY FUNNY guys in the indian film industry…..

Hindi films hav absolutely lost their taste and sense of humour……..they desribed the movie as A COMEDY……but its not even remotely funny………trust me! No sense of direction, no humour(as it was entitled to be), no story line, nothing!

If I was to describe it in 1 word I wud say ‘hopeless’……

I wudnt waste ur time givin’ u a detailed description bout the movie……but if ur trusting me bout this…….den u shud read this…….

Huge cast…

1 Johnny lever

2 Om puri

3 Asrani

4 Shahid kapoor

5 rimii sen

6 Vivek oberoi

7 akshay kumar

8 sunil shetty

9 aftab

10 paresh rawal

And lots more but im nottoo sure bout their names!!!

Starts wid……an introduction by VIVEK OBEROI………and he has been givin smal details and transcripts bout all the characters in the movie at short intervals…….

The movie is completely abstract……they hav just jumped from 1 scene to another widout any LINK as such……

Den, it’s a story bout how shahid is badly in love wid rimii sen………rimii sen is definitely the ‘MOST WANTED’ girls in the college and shahid works as a PART TIME assistant to the canteen manager ‘johnny lever’……they hav tried to get in some really bad humour here……..but u realy cant expect anyone to laugh at those jokes…..

Suddelny they jump to a scene where rimii sen is suddenly in DUBAI coz of some ‘PERSONAL PROBLEMS’………which the AUDIENCE has no track of…..

Her name is TANYA but she changes it to NATASHA wen she shifts to Dubai……

Den Shahid and johnny lever hire akshay kumar to go to dubai and luk for TANYA coz it takes them some time to arrange for their passports and stuff… and he does…..but A.K realy likes her and tries to say all kind of stuff to shahid and johnny expecting shahid might want to get rid of her. Ex: She has started drinkin’….. etc etc……All kind of bullshit and Shahid just swallows what he says……and typical hindi movie sacrifice kind-of thing!

Den they hav introduced om puri as a ‘person obsessed bout discovering a chemical that wud reduce a persons age by 20 yrs…….’ He is extremely absent-minded and has stored the code of the chemical in the brain of a talkin’ parrot…..He also has an IDENTICAL TWIN…….who is all bout money, and his son, against the wish of his father sells the contract of the drug to a chinese company………Can u believe it?????? U cant imagine how badly the movie has been directed….

Den again dey hav shown that shahid who is an ORPHAN, sory forgot to mention b4, gives 100000 rs to akshay kumar for the rimii sen mission…….Den he goes to dubai and meets akshay and gets completely gullibled bout everything akshay tels him bout TANYA( drinking, smoking etc etc…) and decides to leave for india……….suddenly he gets this feeling ‘TANYA KO IS VAKT MERI ZAROORAT HAI’ and decides to cancel his plan……

Den they hav shown that rimii was involved wid this guy RAJ( AFTAB) and sunil shetty misguides rimii and she breaks up wid him for some unbielievalble reason…..

Akshay in the mean time is havin fun time flirting wid rimii and GETS GOIN’ and shahid finds out bout this….he goes and talks to rimii and den they r friends again…..later we find out that…rimii has a brother who is mentally retarded and dies…..she REPLACES him wid ‘paresh rawal’ who claims to me mentally ill, actually is not…….Continuosly dey also show that asrani falls on rimii and tries to seek her attention in some or the other way…..he is shown blind!!! Meanwhile om puri’s son kills his fathers twin brother for the code of the ‘20 yrs miracle’ and rimii sees him doin the murder……..she now has the parot coz om puri hides in her car and leaves the parot there b4 he is kiled…….so now the MONEY MINDED OM PURI AND HIS SON r also on the mission to somehow get hold of rimii sen…….also om puri’s other son, sunny (some south indian character as shown in the movie…..sory don’t know his name..) is in luv wid rimii and wants her too…….

So basically everyone is faling for rimii and there r quite a lot of short incidences in the movie which I wil not be describing HERE coz they r BADDDD………and really wil get u to scream ur head-off…...

The movie ends wid shahid-rimii getting together and a A STUPID, SILLY, SMALL ending note by vivek oberoi!

Im just trying to x-plain to u that the movie……..is a waste of time and money,…….

That’s all!!!

Thanks,

U can always post a comment if u wish……I wil definitely try to reply to it asap….(criticism is accepted, it wil help me improve my future reviews)

Suggestions and opinions r WEL ACCEPTED

Nice title
Dec 06, 2005 10:56 PM 2489 Views

Ya, its right.

the movie is totally fit on title. Every one in this movie is mad. Everyone like sunil, akshya, paresh etc just gone mad.

the movie does not up to the standered. The music of the movie is fair but something is there which always come in mind that I heared this music anywhere else. Ya its right. the songs of this movie are still form many songs like hug me hug me, and jine mera dil lutiya(romeo) etc.

But music is good. The role of akshya is very good as his role is very powerful but if we compare his role and acting with muzse shadi karoge we will find that the acting of akshya is not up to the standered of muzse shadi karoge.

The role of sunil is good. he act we ought to do. His acting and style is also good.

like the way he pick up his diary.

the role of all other is fare.

the story of movie is just ok. I suggest not to go movie. because after second half the movie is very very boaring.

Very few people really had any grand expectations from this movie, seeing the way it was publicized.Weird TV trailors, mediocre songs and almost no media buzz before its release made it a non starter.Deewane huye paagal is , in retrospect, like a very talented team not playing upto its mark on a given day. Imagine, you have Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, Om Puri , the new funny man Akshay Kumar and yet the comedy track is completely off key. The movie begins with Vivek Oberoi as the sutradhar, hamming to the hilt. The charachters are introduced one by one, but there is no real chemistry. The songs are a big let down. The only time you actually laugh is when the four charachters, Kumar, Rawal,Shetty and Shahid Kapoor join forces and share screen time. Coming to the performances:

Shahid Kapoor : has a completely author backed role, but wears the same lover stricken expression throughout the movie.

Akshay Kumar: Has the best lines and his chutzpah makes him look smart in an average movie

Rimmi Sen: Has nothing much to do, except look pretty( though she is not a patch on her Dhoom avatar)

Paresh Rawal : is in good nick but is not given ample scope by the script

Suneil Shetty: puts in a honest performance, his funny walking style may draw a few laughs

Johnny Lever: lends good support to Shahid Kapoor

Om Puri : Please watch a DVD of Dev. No furthur comments.

Vijay Raaz: its strange why such a talented actor took up such a 2-bit part, playing Akshay Kumars sidekick.

To sum up, the wit of Awaara Paagal Deewana is missing here. What comes across is a hastily made movie, with the director apparently confused as to who the actual hero of the movie is.. The script, the songs, the action or Shahid Kapoor.Come to think of it, an actual sequel wouldnt have been such a bad idea.

Worth few Laughs
Dec 01, 2005 11:04 PM 2722 Views

If you have seen ‘Something About Mary` in past 6 months this movie is not for you. If you like movies with ‘substance’ this is not for you.

The movie is set in Dubai. This is a good change for people tired seeing US, Europe and NZ in Bollywood movies. Among the “star” cast Akki rocks !!! He is the only one who adds any ‘value’ to the movie. Vijay Raaz supports him nicely. Sunil Shetty is his usual “oye .. oye” and suits perfectly being a plumber. Watch out for his trademark dialog “ Oye … Natasha ko chod de”. Paresh Rawal and Jonny Lever are wasted. Rimi Sen is just present throughout the movie. Shahid’s inability in acting is severely felt among the other seasoned actors.

Movie begins with irritating Vivek ‘Anand’ Oberoi as the ‘Sutradhaar’. The story revolves around Tanya who is an aspiring singer and guys who are her ‘Deewane’. The movie lacks pace and you wish you could fast forward few scenes. There are pockets of humor throughout the movie which will make you roll with laughter. Some of the dialogs fit aptly to situation. At the same time there are old joke you have heard ‘hajaar’ times. Anu Malik has done full ‘justice’ to the music. Its hard to remember any song after you are out of movie hall!!!. Ganesh Hegade’s choreography leaves you spell bound. He has made the dancers move every part of their torso. The last sequence will remind of ‘Awaara Pagal Deewaana’ with dirt bikes and cars racing/chasing and stunts.

So if you have good company and sponsored tickets don’t think twice before watching the movie :)

Hungama part 2...detail review
Nov 30, 2005 04:39 PM 2529 Views

Hi frndz,

It's a good comedy movie...just go and watch without any expectations...

may be it's not worth to watch the movie in multiplex..and spend Rs 100-150 on it...

about the star cast..

it's cool to watch the hit formula starcast...

Akshay kumar..Paresh rawal and Sunil shetty...

1.akshay Kumar... I am fan of Akshay kumar...as he can do the best pair dance.... and as expectation u can find the item number song ..but no actresses..there are many foreign girls dancing with akshay..nice to watch them ;) ... and offcourse he did best for the comedy scene...I think all his scenes are comedy only...

  1. Paresh Rawal .... no need to say about this actor..he did the great job... may be not good as compared to his presence in HeraPheri ...

  2. Sunil Shetty... Frankly I dont' like this actor..but still I appreciate his performance as a handicap person in this film... I don't know whether they have added graphics in his acting ..or really he is so flexible...

  3. Johny Lever... same as paresh rawal... I like the way he is prsenting the dialouge..that make me more laugh than the dialouge...

5.Shahid Kappor... I don't know why..but still this guy is like 21 year college kumar...

heroine seem to be aged more than shahid..even Karina is also seem to be 3-4 year older than him..anyways... his performance is also good...

yeah One thing shahid is dancing very well and in josh...

6.Actress.... the same kind of role that she did in hungama...and her costume in the movie is also cool ;)

songs...oops..i don't remember any song...the music is good but the lyrix is abolutly waste...

pace of the movie is not good...some time u feel bore ...

overall the movie is worth to watch in normal theatre....

plz dont forget to rate this review...

Thanx,

Shirish

Gone are those days
Nov 29, 2005 07:46 PM 2608 Views

When you used to watch good comedy movies without being lured by false promos or anything catchy as the movie itself would carry the substance. I feel pity over the state of comedy movie where laughter is getting noise and forced one. line by line....''Mumbai Xpress'', ''The chillout Salaman Khan's movie'', '' Shaadi No.1'' then ''Garam Masala'' and now ''Deewane Hue Pagal''. No Entry was a bit laughing stuff becuase it has only one good point Anil Kapoor with spontenous and brilliant timing of comedy, otherwise ruined by Salman Khan and Fardeen Khan.

The only comedy movie which should have been good hit flopped badly due to poor marketting...Ramji Londonwaley. I deserved to be a hit movie while all these are pseudo comedies.

I think these days it's become very easy to make any kind of movie...just call it comedy movie it becomes comedy or just call sleazy it become thriller chiller or call it drama it becomes Barsaat kind emotional movie. Where is the honesty and care for the public money? Why they are unable to make us laugh now? are they absolutely ruined or creativity??? it looks so becuase they are not runied of money at all.

Time and time again you go to the movie hall and return unsatisfied.

Plot: it's as lousy as the movie. Shahid kappoor loves Rimi sen who are in the same college but shahid abstains from proposing her becuase he works as a waitor too. In the emantime a scientist is killed by a gangsters becuase he knew the anti-aging formula. Rimi sen gets the code in form of a parrot and the gangsters start hunting her. with her aunty she leaves the city very night...and thereafter the waitor shahid kapur installs Akshay Kumar a street fighetr in mumbai with 1 lakh rupees to find out rimi sen in dubai. Akshay Dupes him and tries to set Rimi for himself. In last many romeos are discovered and all fight happens and finally rimmi sen goes to Shahid Kapur....what a nonesense dumb movie!

Not a single frame is convincing...how a waitor can manage 1 lakh rupees for search and also travells lavishly? Not a single character was convincing as the plot itself looked forcibly made.

i fear if I keep on watching such dumb movies my taste and choise of movie would change someday. This is better to stay home and watch old movies, who can make you laugh much more.

Star Performance: What can they do when direction as well as whole movie itself is disjoint.Makeup man used over tann over Rimmi sen converging her to almost negro status. In the whole movie she looked aged and dull.

Comedy by Akshay Kumar was good one...but now it looks he is getting typedwith same kind of comedies. He is good but hard trying.

Paresh rawal seems to be fading. In the last two movie of his he looks absolutely out of touch of acting and does not look enjoying his job. what has happened to this great talent?

Only Shahid kapur has fitted good in this badly itched movie. He plays his role calmly and scores above all his senior artists including Paresh Rawal and Akshay.

Techies: It's of average kind. The last fight sceen in desert is good one...but direction is pathetic. In few words you can simply call this movie with almost entire content as a ''Damn Pakau Movie''.

No great song, every thing so-so.

In overall: I did not like this movie and felt like wasting my time and money with great hope for good movie. I suggest all of you to wait and go for Apaharan or Home Delivery. Movies like deewane Hue Pagal is just an attempt to make the public foolish on the name of comedy.

It’s the same old story in a new bottle. But this time the gags & situation are different which is the USP of the film. Its obvious that you might compare this film to Aawara Paagal Deewana(I also compared)but Deewane Huye Paagal is more comedy than action.

Action is quite less than AWP.

The reasons I like the movie :-

1) The dilouges by Neeraj Vora & Abbaas Hal….dipur or something takes the to new heights altogether. The gags are hilarious especially lines by Akshay Kumar & Paresh Rawal.

2) Akshay Kumar still the show.I am sure this time all the awards are to akshay.

Mark my words he is funnier than Paresh Rawal & Johnny Lever in the film.

3) The whole cast of Deewane Huye Paagal JL,PR,Suniel Shetty,Suresh Menon, Asrani,Supriya and Vijay Raaz are the actors that excel in comedy and they

Make the film more hilarious & intresting.

4) The action is well choreographed and last 15 minutes actions is eye catching

And of international quality.Kuddos to Abbas Ali mougal.

5) Technically a good film and Vikram Bhatt has done an good job. After a long

Time he is in form.

Flaws of the movie :-

Same old story nothing new.

Music by Anu Malik is not appealing.

Vivek Oberio as a sutradhar hammers a lot.

Shahid Has been wasted.

Rimmi Sen has lost an opportinuty to prove herself.

But On Last note it’s a very intresting and well made MAD comedy.

A time PASS entertainer.

If you've seen Awaara Paagal Deewana then you'd be disappointed with Deewane Hue Paagal. It's a tepid comedy made with a bored intent. The natural laughter that APD evoked is sorely missing in DHP in spite of a fine comic performance by Akshay Kumar (This garam dude is giving nightmares to all the Khans, Bachchans and Roshans). The music is below par. In an age when almost all the movies boast of chart-busters, this one misses the bus by a long margin. The biggest disappointment for me was Shahid Kapoor. For I truly feel, this young bloke is a volcano of talent. But sadly, he isn't getting the kind of roles that do justice to his versatile talent.

You must have already heard umpteen number of times that DHP is a sorry copy of Cameron Diaz magical There's something about Mary. Rimi Sen is no Cameron Diaz. She is neither hot, nor is she happening. Strictly average fare. In fact she is supposed to be a show stopper, a college favourite, a singer-dancer who has on her list of admirers a goon's illegitimate son, a nerdy restaurant worker-cum-student-etc-etc Karan(Shahid Kapoor), an ageing blind man etc etc. She watches the murder of a renowned scientist. The 'revered' scientist (This guy has made a weird formula for anti-ageing) before being bumped off had given the password of the formula to a tacky parrot. Catty Tanya (Rimi) shoos off to Dubai to escape the thugs, changes her name to Natasha, aspiring to be a big performer on telly while her nerdy loverboy who has strangely transformed into a natty loverboy is left pining for her.

Lovey-dovey Karan finds out after a few years that Tanya is in Dubai. He spends all his earnings to hire a smart alec detective-cum-part-time-criminal Rocky (Akshay) to search for Tanya. Rocky aided by his aide Vijay Raaz finds out the whereabouts of Tanya but for once he falls in love with this simple-hot damsel. He misleads Karan when he lands in Dubai. Natasha by now has an assortment of suiters, notable amongst them being a handicapped architect Sanju (Sunil Shetty) who's actually a plumber while Tommy (Paresh Rawal), a mentally deranged and physically challenged adult stays with Tanya after the death of her Bro. Both are hale-n-hearty and fit-as-a-fiddle. They are just trying to cash in on Natasha's soft heartedness. The apparent comical situations are half baked and seldom evoke a full throttled laughter. And the lack of linkages is a sore point.

Vivek Oberoi as sutradhar is endearing. His rap rendition is catchy. As for the end, well it's predictable as to who shall get the girl, but not before you are treated to some fine action sequences with the baddies out to get the password and the parrot from Tanya. Direction by Vikram Bhatt is very average. He blatantly lifts the scenes from an assortment of movies. I feel even if you have to steal, do it imaginatively. Out of the cast, Akshay is the best while the rest of them are listless. Paresh Rawal is a big waste while Shahid must sparkle in his forthcoming movies this year if he wants to raise his stock in the market. Cinematography is good in parts while at times it is very casual. Same for the editing. Great in parts, but very shoddy in a few others.

Deewane Hue paagal, Hold on, there are better comedies round the corner.....

Copy of TISAM

I am not sure if someone has commented on this but this movie is a complete copy of English Movie There is Something About Mary. The story/Plot is almost similar to TISAM. There are multiple lovers behind the same woman.

Of course the director has tried to given an indian touch, but people who have seen TISAM may not find this movie as funny as I did. For people who have not seen the famous English Comedy which had Cameroon Diaz, Ben Stiller and Matt Damon this movie would be a good fun

Paresh Rawal, Suniel Shetty , Asrani and Shaid kapoor have disappointed in Acting department, Akky baba is great

Director has included stupidities like get young formula and leaving the secret code in a toy parrot.

Why do indian comedies have to be such that you have to leave your minds behind I don't know.

Deewane Hue Pagal, as the name suggests and ofcourse looking at the track record of producer had to be a comedy movie with amazing stunts to leave audiences to stunned. It is a food movie to watch if u just want to relax and laugh. To waych this movie one need to go without any expectations and without keeping any story in mind because usually comedy movies do not have a base story.

The movie has many actors and 1 lead actors so one can assume there had to be some triangles but in this movie there were 7 People behind 1 girl and everyone playing there part well for convincing the lady. The Movie had almost all characters from the producers last movie Awara Pagal Deewana.

The movie revolves around Rimi Sen and her lovers, with Shahid, Akshay, Suniel, Paresh taking lead as lovers and ther rest 3 are here and there.

The first half an hour movie becomes very sad with Vivek Oberoi doing the comparing part and using the bad lingo. He was very sad at this part. then another bad thing comes with Anu Malik copying Kevin Lyttle's hit track ''Turn Me on'' true copy. Read me clear guys HE IS THE BEST WHEN COPYING MUSIC IS CONCERNED!!

After this songs the movie catched pace and real comedy starts. After this point the movie remains good and never looses pace.

1 important thing I forgot to mention is that like awara pagal deewana where all are behind Diamonds.. in this movie every one is behind two things either a formula that can make Old ppl again Young. and Rimii Sen ofcourse.

The last half an hour of movie is awesome with all stunts and are picturised really good. Mountain bike stunts, super bikes stunts are really cool. In the end its an Happy ending with the Loyal customer i.e. Shahid Kapur walks with Rimii Sen.

About Acting -- Shahid Kapur as usual copies SRK, Akshay n pareshj in their typical style and leaves the marks, Suniel is good and Rimii sSen looks Hot!

Yesterday evening was one of the best evening of this month. I enjoyed it a lot ... Do u want to know HOW ???

Hmm, I went to ''Deeane Hue Paagal '' and enjoyed it, Really a good movie with good comedy , nice direction, good actor for comedy and good comedy timming.

Movie started with Vivek Oberoi :) kyon bhai, confuse ho gaye kya ... he is just a narrator for the moive story, offcourse its nice to see him for a short time.

Lets talk about movie,

Story:- There are 2 storied parallel which are interconnexted. A scienctist ( om puri)got formula to have a Magic drug to remaing Young, his secetery ditch him, reveals his innovation to his twin brother UnderWorld Don. Scientist keeps formula in a Safe Box and keeps it code into a PARROT ( yeah Parrot). And Some how Dons sons killed his uncle, and Rimmi was a victim to see this. before gettting killed scientist puts that PARROT to Rimmi box.

Hold Before this ... Rimmi, Shahid and Don's another Son ( uska ki padosi ka dont know ) studies in same college. Shahid is hard worker, works in canteen while studing in college. He love Rimmi who is a Singer in college. There were no commitment from each side but both knows about their feelings. Shahid works in canteen owned by Joney Lever.

So at that night when scientist got killed , Rimmi is going to Shahid BirthDay Dinner. So all of sudden She decided to leave Country and Shahid comes to her home got his gift .. as that parrot.

Now after 3 yr he is still in love with Rimmi. So he hires Akshya to find her. Akshya finds her but fell in love with Rimmi. Rimmi has one metally illed brother who died so she is very sensitive with Handicaped People. Paresh Rawal, Sunnil Shetty, Asrani tries to impress/fool her via becoming Handicaped.

And ... movie goes on All were in love with Rimmi

Actor/actoress:- Quite Long List here. Shahid Kapor, Rimmi Sen, Sunil Shetty, Akshay Kumer, Asrani, Paresh Rawal, Joney Lever and OM puri so on

Acting :- Shahid Kapoor acts fine as a lover, as a true lover but he looks like still a child

Akshya Acting is really good as well his timings. He is perfect in this movie. Rimmi is not too good. We need more acting from her. Paresh Rawal Acted superb and with sunil shetty. Sunil works perfect here, his acting of Handicaped is so natural ...

Direction and Action :- Good direction, but songs slows movie speed and feel like un necessary. Action are superb. At climax action scene is one of the best in indian cinema. It is worth ful to watch these action scenes.

Songs:- Just ok.Director can cut the songs. There were no need of starting song with Akshya... which looks lie a bar Song. He should know only this song is enough to keep away this movie from becoming a FAMILY MOVIE.

So guys my short review finish. I suggest watch this movie ... and enjoy it as I Do.

DHP:- Akki: The saving grace....
Nov 28, 2005 12:52 PM 2400 Views

More or less the same team as that of Aawara Paagal Deewana and the intentions are similar too. Deewane Huye Paagal is a good effort to trap the audience into laugh but characterizations of some characters are not very effective and hence make the movie dull at few points.

Story line:

The story starts with Karan (Shahid Kapoor) falling in love with Tanya aka Natasha (Rimi Sen), both studying in same college and then Natasha watching a murder of a scientist (Om Puri with beard) by scientist’s own nephew, who is son of a don (On Puri without beard - in double role) and leaving India in peace to save her life.

The crazy lover, Karan becomes “Majnoo” without Natasha and one day he finds out that his love is in Dubai. Infatuated by love, the lover decides to go to Dubai to find his love and Murugan (Johny Lever) is his companion in this task. The two hire an agent (more of a “Gunda” style) Rocky (Akshay Kumar) to go and find the address of Natasha. Rocky goes to Dubai and finds out all the details about Natasha with the help of his accomplice Vijay Raj.

When Karan and Murugan reach Dubai, Rocky tells them fake stories about Natasha to get this beauty out of Karan’s life so that he can move easily into Natasha’s life. There in the arena Rocky finds that 2 guys Sanju (Sunil Shetty) and Tommy (Paresh Rawal) are already there in the queue. And then starts the battle for finding the love of life among the 4 deewane. They cheat each other, they beat each other and they play every possible trick to get Natasha; this battle is a major part of the movie.

The movie ends with Don reaching Dubai, kidnapping the girl and some action and then a happy ending. But the biggest question is who gets the girl???? And for knowing that….. you have to watch the movie.

Performances:

Performance vise Akshay Kumar is the only saving grace for this movie, his comedy senses are becoming more and more mature and his timing of comedy is perfect. His comedy skills will remind you of “Mujhse shadi karogi” and “Hera-Pheri”. His character has also been portrayed very nicely. Intoto he is a genius. The second performance which can be said as very good is of Vijay Raj (a dumb assistance of Akki in the movie). Paresh Rawal, Sunil Shetty and Johny Lever have done justice with their roles; can be said as good performances. Rimi Sen has looked an absolute beauty in the movie; she is stunning and her acting skills are also not too bad. Asrani has a small role of another blind lover of Natasha and has given his good.

Flow of movie:

The first half looks a bit dull, since director Vikram Bhatt has given some time to set the plot. The second half on the other hand will make you laugh.

The movie is a remake of “There’s something about marry”, so if you have seen Cameron Diaz, you can think of avoiding this movie. Few scenes are just a mere copy of the scenes from the Hollywood flick. Still this movie makes you laugh (in the second half at least) with the some good performances, specially from Akshay Kumar.

Music:

“Kudi nu mera dil lutya” is able to move your feet sitting in the theatre and seems the only good song of the movie. All the other songs are just okay, so overall you can say that Anu Malik has not been impressive here.

In a nutshell, if you have 2.5 hours and you don’t have anything to do, do watch the movie.

Your valuable comments are most welcome…..

Good Fun!

“Deewane Huye Paagal” is the latest offering from the Vikram Bhatt stable. This is most unlike any other Vikram Bhatt film – in that it’s the first comic film he has attempted. It’s “inspired” by “There’s something about Mary” and a couple of scenes are a straight lift!

The story is simple – six guys are in love with one girl – Rimi Sen. There is a small sub-plot about an underworld don desperately seeking the key to a youth formula which is in the memory of a toy parrot with Rimi. The six suitors are Shahid Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Suniel Shetty, Suresh Menon & Asrani. The other two significant characters in the film are Vijay Raaz – Akshay’s sidekick & Johnny Lever – Shahid’s mentor. That is a rather large cast to manage and to Vikram Bhatt’s credit he does a better job than Priyadarshan did with “Garam Masala”

Tanya – Rimi – is the hottest girl in college and the whole college is in love with her – including Karan – Shahid Kapoor – the orphan who studies and works in the college canteen. One day she witnesses the murder of a scientist who has invented the “youth elixir” and therefore has to flee the country overnight. Karan of course is pining away and when he discovers three years later that she is in Dubai – he decides to go to Dubai. However his friend Johnny Lever suggests that they hire the services of Rocky – Akshay Kumar – a conman to find out the whereabouts of Tanya in Dubai. The moment Rocky sees Tanya – who is now called Natasha – he promptly falls in love with her. However there is already a set of other suitors in line! Thus begins a fun filled comic caper with each one trying to outdo another!

Akshay Kumar as Rocky is absolutely outstanding – as usual! This man has a flair for comedy which is brilliant. Of course it helps that he also has some of the best lines in the film. The other honorable mention that needs to be made here is that of Vijay Raaz. Brilliant as Akshay’s rather dim sidekick. Apart from these two – the others are just fillers. Yes - all of them are props to a story – necessary but not contributing positively. It was a bit saddening to see comic talents like Paresh & Johnny wasted. Shahid has turned in a good performance although he had a serious role in an out & out comic caper.

Rimi – being the sole female lead in the film – has an extremely critical role. She has done justice to it in terms of acting – however – and this is a purely personal opinion – for somebody who was supposed to have 6 men running after her – the director could have chosen a better looking girl! She herself looked far better in Dhoom than she does here!

Music is so-so. The first song – in the casting, and the performance song after the interval are good. Shahid of course is a brilliant dancer.

The Climax: How can I leave that! Its in the glorious Awara Paagal Deewana tradition – lots of stunts on bikes, desert buggys etc. Actually a bit of a yawn since it got stretched a little and the matrix type stunts were a little overdone.

All in all a good one time watch.
