Chaahat - Ek Nasha Reviews

Honest review of Chahaat Ek Nasha
Mar 18, 2006 01:43 AM3440 Views

I watched this movie from the DVD.Perhaps I can claim to be making an honest review of this movie,.as I am watching this movie without being aware who are the actors/actresses etc, the publicity, whether the movie was a hit or flop. Infact I was never aware Chahaat Ek Nasha was even released! So its not a biased review.

So when it started, I was kind of dissappointed to see faces who were not establised.Till Manisha Koirala entered the scene. It became a relief to see one established name, and I decided to continue watching instead of stopping the DVD.

Well how was the movie? Ok I was engrossed to this for about 1 hour. '' A'' loves ''B'', and calls her ''best friend'', and has affair with her.But falls in ''love'' with ''C'', and decides to marry her. Then what is the relation of ''A'' and ''B''???I am confused.''Best Friend''...eh? someone with whom u have affiars.Someone with whom u just proposed for marriage, and then the next scene u have ''A'' telling ''B'' that he is happy to announce his marriage to ''C'', and expects ''B'' to celebrate as well......

Enter ''D'', who loves ''B''.But no one loves ''D''.

Sorry if I am confusing u. Even I am confused.

ok let me tell u who are A,B,C,D....its Aryan Vaid,Manisha Koirala,Preeti Jhangiani. and Sharad Kapoor respectively.

Manisha Koirala plays a top pop star, and Aryan Vaid runs the business and made a lot of money from her, till she started making flops and becomes a fading star.Aryan decides to search for fresh talents, and spots Preeti who brings back profits.

Sharad Kapoor plays the bdyguard of Manisha Koirala.

Preeti was a die hard fan of Manisha, but eventually becomes a pop star herself better than her, and replaces her in everything including her boyfriend....

So thats it the movie.Manisha gets jealous not only because she loses her love, but also because of her fading career. So she drinks, smokes etc.

Somehow the role suited Manisha very much. She played the role of the fading star who gets jealous, and is always drunk, and she acted very convincing. No idea whether she was playing her real life, but I cant expect a top actress to do this kind of role at the peak of her career. Only a fading star can play it convincingly....

Amongst the above actors, I'd say Sharad Kaporr did a good job.why? Because he hardly acted!!!He was silent most of the time and used his eyes to express.I think he is one of the under used actors.

Preeti Jnangiani and Aryan Vaid were ok.

But what went wrong was towards the end we get illogical nonsense climax. Sharad Kapoor cannot bear to see Manisha Koirala suffering so much and decides to kill Aryan Vaid, the cause of her sorrow. And it was during this time he expresses his love to Manisha Koirala,

But Manisha kills Sharad Kapoor, and then kills herself. The story ends.....its nonsense.neither its a comedy nor its a tragedy. It falls into a new category:- Nonsense.

A better ending would have been....Sharad Kapoor somehow tries to change Manisha Koirala to quit her drinking and re-invent her career, and also perhaps then propose to her. Then we have Manisha Koirala back to fame and success, and preeti & Aryan gets happily married ..........anyways I am no scriptwriter.I just felt surprised that one can waste lakhs or crores of rupees to make a movie with a stupid climax....

Can't think of a title for Chahat's review

Well It's a routine (without a proper route) hindi triangle. Thats the inference. I started doubting my friends choice who dragged me to this movie. This movie has no relation with Madona and Briney as advertised.

A failure from all sides. Manisha lost her charm and acting. Aryan Vaidya cant be an actor. And Preeti in new look is bad. She should stuck to Chi Mui see only at least can look at her.

JayPrakash had some limelight due to Market (Am I correct ?), he failed like anything here. Nothing is good. Bad songs, so-so acting, poor story plot....

Still this site wants me to write 150 words about this movie. This is bad. I can not mention anything more. Offcourse I have seen this movie. Well first of all it's not an indian family movie. And If go for some steamy scenes (thats what TOI claimed) you will be disappointed.

houston India
This movie sucked

UMM what was up with all those gay outfits that Aryan Vaid kept wearing. In the beginning of the movie I thought he was pretty handsome but as the movie kept going he kept wearing these cheesy outfits that only homo's wear. Either the director or aryan is gay.

SOMEONE on the set is gay that's for sure. Who wears a suit with no shirt on the inside. WE GET IT ARYAN..U HAVE MUSCLES...GOODNESS GRACIOUS.I didn't think Preeti was all that pretty. she has light skin and she's skinny, that doesnt make you pretty. I don't like her smile or something about her face...can't put my hands on it. Anyways...I thought her acting was really bad too.

Manisha was overdramatic with the drinking. And she is very pretty except for her weight problem.

This wholemovie was stupid. Bunch of Indians trying to be westernized but just looking ridiculous in the end. Manisha is ruining her rep by doing movies like this. I have lost respect for her. As for the other two .....go to acting school, get new stylists and stick to speaking hindi.

(Scene – Tanmay giving his practical exam sitting in the Psychology lab. He asks the subject to go out and starts finishing the paper work. The external comes to Tanmay’s table and sits on the chair, which was earlier occupied by the subject.)

External - Hello, I’m your external, I’ll be taking your viva

Tanmay - (Ohh…so you are an external, I thought you are a buffalo who has come to my college so that the students can milk you.) Good Morning Sir! It’s nice to meet you.

External - Which test were you conducting on the subject?

Tanmay - (The one which you assigned me moron.) Sir, I was measuring his attitude by using SAS. SAS – Sodhi’s Attitude Scale.

External - What is attitude?

Tanmay - (You wanna see some attitude nincompoop, meet me at the parking lot.) Attitude is the intensity of positive or negative effect for or against a psychological object.

External - What is the difference between attitude and aptitude?

Tanmay - (What??? You don’t even know this? Who made you the external? They both are as different as your wife and daughter.) Sir, attitude is related with values and aptitude is related with intelligence. Eg if a person likes ice-cream, he has a positive attitude towards it. And if a person is good in computers, he has an aptitude for that.

External - What are the functions of a leader?

Tanmay - (Now, why on earth do you wanna know that mortal? Are you planning to stand in the municipal elections or something…huh) Sir, a leader works as a link, between the seniors and the juniors. He makes policies and makes sure they are implemented properly. He takes calculated risks and also accepts the responsibility for his mistakes.

(External smiles. Gives Tanmay 24.5 out of 25 and moves towards another student.)

(Practical is over. Tanmay is walking back towards his bike. Somebody calls him from behind and as he turns back, it’s none other than Shilpi the prettiest gal in the class.)

Shilpi - Hi, how was the practical?

Tanmay - Yea pretty cool. What about yours?

Shilpi - Mine was great. The external gave me 24.

Tanmay - Oh really! I got 24.5

Shilpi - Wow, that’s awesome! This calls for a treat!

Tanmay - Sure! When, where and what exactly are you looking for?

Shilpi - How about a movie?

Tanmay - Not a bad idea! But which one?

Shilpi - It’s your treat, so you decide!

Tanmay - Okie Dokie!

(They reach the multiplex. Wow two new releases – Sheesha and Chahat! Tanmay had no idea about any of the movies. He sees a sexy pose of Neha Dhupia on the poster of Sheesha and decides instantly. Ten minutes later they were sitting in the theatre waiting for Chahat to start!)

Chahat – Ek Nasha (Movie Review)

Oh no! Damn! After my prolonged introduction I finally do have to write something about the movie. Actually I was just trying to delay it as much as possible, since writing about this atrocious movie is as big a torture as watching it! I think the movie should be renamed Chaahat – Ek Saaza!

If you are given two options – getting electric shocks in an asylum or watching Chahat, then it’s my humble request to choose the former, since it would be far less painful then watching a three-hour non-stop nuisance show. I’ll tell you the full story (“story” hahaha) with climax and spoil the suspense, to save your holy soul from watching this “legendry” movie!

The movie is a love triangle (wow what a new concept) between Manisha Koirala, Preeti Jhangiani and Aryan Vaid. Aryan Vaid is the owner of a music company and Manisha works as a singer and dancer for the music albums of his company. She is a big star and earns huge profits for his company. Preeti is a big fan of Manisha. She is inspired by her and wants to be as successful as her in this field. All of a sudden Manisha’s albums start flopping and she becomes a fading star from a star. So, from the business point of view Aryan stops working with Manisha and instead employs Preeti, who becomes a big star within no time.

Aryan had proposed to Manisha during her peak days, but she refused to marry then, saying she doesn’t believe in the concept of marriage. She said she loves him very much and doesn’t want that love to die by getting tied in a relationship. So, Aryan proposes to Preeti, when her album becomes a hit (Wow what a true lover! Tu nahin to koee aur sahee, koee aur nahin to koee aur sahee).

And what’s next? He goes to meet Manisha (his so called “best friend” now, whom he had bedded innumerable times before), gives her a tight hug and shamelessly tells her about his new love-interest. Manisha is shocked! Can you think of a more thrilling way to bring about the intermission? Hollywood directors take some lessons!

--POPCORN TIME--

So, after the popcorn time this “once in a lifetime movie” starts again. Manisha becomes a lady Devdas drinking whole day and whole night. Manisha’s bodyguard, Sharad Kapoor loves her a lot and can’t see her in this condition, so he goes to kill Aryan. (Great! What a solution!) Just when he was about to kill him, Manisha (all of a sudden) comes from behind and shoots Sharad Kapoor. He dies. She then approaches to kill Preeti too (who has stolen her love) but Aryan says, she should take his life and not hers while Preeti says, she should take her life and not his. Manisha gets a bit too confused as to whom to kill and eventually ends up killing herself! A huge round of applause, as the movie at last finishes!

--THE END--

Coming to the performances, Manisha is finished! Pack your bags madam and go back to Nepal. By doing C-grade movies like Market, Ek Choti Se Love Story and now Chahat you are destroying your own little leftover reputation.

Preeti, now what is this? I didn’t expect such stuff from such a talented girl like you! I understand you are eager to make a comeback, but for heaven’s sake, don’t tell me that you couldn’t have got a better movie than this? And how dare you smooch that monkey-faced hero? Have you gone nuts? You have disappointed one of your big fans today – me!

Aryan film industry isn’t for you. You can’t act! Get that straight! Do a diploma course in “papad making” and set up a shop or something. But please, don’t show up on the silver screen again! We beg!

Music of the film is even worse than the humming of mosquitoes. Mosquitoes can give you malaria but the music of this flick will give you hypertension! Take two plates of steel from your kitchen and hit them against each other continuously for 10 minutes. The sound produced is used as music in this “extraordinary film”.

We usually notice the camera effects of a film only if they are too good! But the camera effects in this film are so poor that even a newborn baby can do a better job than the cameraman of this film! The light quality was so poor that I had to strain my eyes to differentiate between Manisha and Aryan!

I wonder if Shilpi will again go out for a movie with me!

'Nasha' Nahin Chaaya!!!
Feb 11, 2005 12:01 AM5757 Views

The filmmakers behind the forgettable yet an average runner at the box-office,?Market?,namely director Jai Prakash,Manisha Koirala and Aryan Vaid are back with their latest film ?Chaahat-Ek Nasha?.This time around,it`s a triangle love story and it is Preeti Jhangiani, who forms the third angle of this triangular love story. If there was anything which was being discussed about this movie, then it was Manisha`s and Preeti`s roles which were said to be inspired by Madonna`s and Britney Spears` real life characters. Both the ladies are playing the roles of popstars in this movie. So,how do they look as ?desi? Madonna and Britney Spears?

Chamunda Films.?Chaahat-Ek Nasha?,directed by Jai Prakash, stars Aryan Vaid,Manisha Koirala,Preeti Jhangiani,Sharad.S.Kapoor,Sayaji Shinde and Govind Namdeo.Manisha Koirala makes a comeback with this film.Preeti Jhangiani tries her luck in Bollywood again,by changing her image from a ?chui mui? girl to a sexy babe and Aryan Vaid tries to become a hot ?n? happening hero, through this film,as in this film,it can be judged that as a solo hero, can he carry off a movie on his shoulders? So,does this film help, these three actors in achieving their goals?

The film revolves around,a young and ambitious girl,Rashmi (Preeti Jhangiani) who wants to make it big in the Indian Music Industry and who dreams of becoming like her favourite popstar,Malika Arora (Manisha Koirala).Yes,she has two dreams in her eyes. The first dream is that she wants to meet Malika and secondly, she wants to become like Malika. For that purpose she oftenly goes to a music company, that is owned by Rahul Khanna (Aryan Vaid),to try her luck, but as Rahul is too much busy and involved in his work and his girlfriend,Malika Arora,Rashmi never gets a chance to prove herself.

Rashmi finally gets a chance, when Malika`s latest album releases and flops badly.Due to this failure,Rahul`s secretary,Rangeela (Sayaji Shinde),advices him,to leave Malika and look after some new girl, who can bring success back to his music company.

At first,Rahul is disgusted by this idea but then he realizes, that he should do so.Malika very firmly agrees to Rahul`s term saying that she would always remain Rahul`s friend. This makes things easier for Jaidev (Sharad Kapoor),who is Malika`s bodyguard and also her secret admirer. He feels that now she and Rahul are not so close,so he can declare his love to Malika, but until now,he has not been able to tell her this thing.

One day,Rahul gets a VCD on which Rashmi has recorded a video of hers. When Rahul views that disc,he is impressed by Rshmi, and so,he gives her a chance,to sing and dance infront of the camera. As a result,Rashmi`s song becomes a hit, amongst everyone and starts looking as a perfect replacement for Malika.

Slowly,Malika starts feeling insecure and on the other hand,Rashmi and Rahul start getting attracted to each other. With lots of difficulties Rashmi`s father (Govind Namdeo) agrees to her marriage with Rahul and when Rahul gives this report to Malika, she is very jealous and upset. She starts drinking and smoking and gets completely out of touch with the rest of the world.

Malika, tries to make Rahul understand, that she is ready to get married to him and also agrees on taking her decision back, which she made sometime before-that she won`t marry him and by then,it`s too late. The media spreads rumours that Malika announced in her interview that she had physical relations with Rahul and as a result Rashmi thinks of stopping her marriage with Rahul.

Rahul in return gets angry with Malika and calls her a ?wh*re? infront of everyone.Malika gets even more upset and as she is drunk she asks Jaidev to get Rahul killed as soon as possible. The next day, when Malika is back in her senses, she realizes what mistake she made, but now Jaidev is off to kill Rahul. What will Malika do now? Will she be able to save Rahul?

Manisha Koirala comes back on the big screen, after a year,in a role which was said to be based on Madonna`s life but more than Maddona`s life,it seemed to me as if Manisha`s role was based on her own life.Just like in this film,Manisha in real life was also a leading actress (in the film,a popstar),but somehow due to her love affairs with various people such as Nana Patekar (sorry,I`m not discussing her personal life, here but still,I want to say what I feel),etc.her career`s graph started going downwards and she also got in the habit of drinking (just as in this movie),etc.

That is why the actress who did films such as ?Bombay?,?Khamoshi? or ?Dil Se??,to just name a few,is doing a film such as this one, today.Well, coming to Manisha`s performance, she has done a good job,and there was no reason why she shouldn`t have performed well in a role, which was actually based on her own life? But she was okay in some scenes, such as the one,in which it is her Birthday party and Rahul comes there.

She is also better in the scene, where she is completely drunk and can`t get over the fact that Rahul called her a ?wh*re?.Still, she looked very disinterested throughout the movie. She also looked very fat in the film, but I`ve been hearing that she has lost a lot of weight and in her latest photos she is also looking very smart.I want to see her with her new ?slim n trim? look in her forthcoming film ?Mumbai Xpress?,with Kamal Haasan.(I hope that one turns out to be good!)

Aryan Vaid, surprisingly does a reasonably well job,and I think that he should definitely get better roles. The actor should now carefully sign his future projects and must not restrict himself to such sex movies like this one or his forthcoming film ?Fun-Can Be Dangerous Sometimes?.The actor makes his presence felt, throughout the movie.

Preeti Jhangiani in a new avatar,as a sexy and a bold girl, looks good and is also competent. Her acting is good in the scene, where she is suspicious about Rahul and tells him that ?a man is like an animal who is always searching for new girls?,but she also overacted sometimes a bit.She should also look after her face expressions. But all in all, that was a good performance, from her too.

Others in the supporting cast were intolerable.Sayaji Shinde, especially irritates a lot and Govind Namdeo is also terrible.

Jai Prakash`s direction is poor and he has wasted such a good script. So many scenes, such as the one where Rashmi and Malika meet each other for the first time, could have been handled more interestingly. The scene, where Malika slaps Rahul on her birthday could also have been very interesting, had the director handled that scene more sensibly. The climax is also long and unending. The director could have also avoided some stupid comedy scenes, like the ones which involve Rahul`s driver who wants to be a musician or the scene, where a guy comes to the music company and acts like Amitabh Bachchan.Actually, these days such comedy scenes are not needed in films, because the audience, even the masses of today, have matured a lot.

Worse than Taadi!
Feb 07, 2005 03:38 PM3442 Views

Aryan Vaid, can be termed as the most unfortunate person, in the entire film industry.

He is a model, with good looks, and when he entered Bollywood, he got five movies on the floor and a sixth movie, which hadnt even started being made.

Trust his luck, that the five big banners didnt click and the sixth movie turned out to be his first release.

The movie, was of course, Market.

Of course, when one starts with a cycle, at the end of the day, he will be walking.

So, from the downmarket Market, he got movies like Naam Gum Jayega, and whatnot, and today, he is in Chahat Ek Nasha.

Well, his next tentative release is Mr. Hundred Percent, the real player.

Anyway, on to the movie.

The movie tells the story of a business magnate, who takes a girl and makes her a singing star.

He later falls in love with another girl, and there are some misunderstandings between the three, which are finally cleared.

What in the name of Jesus Christ, is Manisha Koirala doing as a NEW SINGER ON THE BLOCK?

A utter nonsensical movie, which will work ONLY in the B grade sectors, because of Man's exposure and that Jhangiani girl.

(Is this the smallest review I ever wrote?)
