Jan 10, 2009 01:44 PM2098 Views

Being written sum long n prolix review about rajesh khanna films reviews I m back wid this movie review on bobby movie.

this movie was phenomenon not only for it maker raj kapoor or its stars rishi n dimple but was also spectacular for our then indian teenagers ....

but before that sum story line detail formalities>>>>>>

raju ie rishi kapoor z the only son of industrialist parent who had everything for ther child except time to do sum xchange of ideas wid theirs only son ...so they appoint miss briganzza ie durga khote for this task...n she infact hd infuzzed that motherly care...so wen the child rises his parent sent him to boarding schoool in sake of their highly socialized work like....after completion the raju cames to home found luv in dimple who is none but daughter of mrs briganza son ie premnath an fisher by virtue of work profile...how parent of an rich family can tolerate this...so this movie had its continuation in this theme n finally film has happy ending....

well after that sum background information about bobby>>>>

1.raj kapoor had burned his hands financially as his dream project mera naam joker was rejected totaly by film goers in regard wid bollywood newly found first superstar rajesh khanna charm

2.financial dues of this movie had forced mr.kapoor to cum up wid a movie which can indemnify the loss of mera naam joker....

3.so mr.kapoor decided to make a teenagers luv story which can easilly earn money wid sum new experiments like swim shoot, closeness, reduced clotheing ie short skirts the very trade marka of dimole in this movie

4.overall a film that can well elaborate teenage infatuation or teen age luv

5.shnaker jaikishan in this movie were replaced by laxikant-pyarelal duo

6.shailendra singh became the voice of rishi kapoor

7.nanda of esc*rts were inlaws of rajkapoors daughter ritu...at that time they were launching their mini bike rajdoot gts..so they contacted for their bike featuring as rishi kapoors bike(1st case of in film brand promotion in india)

8.teenagers were not highlighted in ny movie till that time..

so finally this movie released in 1973 n d rest z a history as

1.bobby got synomenous wid xpression of teenage luv feelings

2.bobby bike ie rajdoot gts got synomenous of luv bike of luvers throughout country...unexpected record advance bookings for this bike

3.movie like jullie.n lotz of other similiar pattern movies had flooded the bollywood

4.short skirts went popular

5.all songs especially hum tum ek kamre mein band ho....got immense popularity in lovers as well as public

6.dimple fascinated teenagers throughout the country..yet she had decided to marry kaka n lefted bollywood for 12 years upto 1985...

in last

i think booby had introduced a new chapter coz of its innovative background content...

thats why this movie was a great money grosser in 1973...

plz feel free to comment & point out my flaws..

Roti, Kapadia Aur Makaan

The Nath Theatre in Toronto was in existence before the Indian media had coined the terms "NRI" and "Bollywood": it was 1974 and I was nine years old.  Every Sunday they had a double feature of recent Bombay hit films.  In addition to popcorn one could buy samosas at the vending section in the traditional American theater lobby that perhaps was the past venue to Errol Flynn and James Cagney films.

I lost my innocence here in this theater watch Raj Kapoor's BOBBY while chewing on small rotis anointed with South Indian hemp pickle prepared by my mum. "Main Shair Tho Nahin"?  What did these words in this magical foreign language mean?  I spoke a little Telegu at home and (at the time) knew absolutely no Hindi or Urdu.

I could not explain the tears that flowed in the darkness when the young Kapoor is beaten by the knife wielding villain and his fellow goons and was elated to profound joy in the end when Dimple Kapadia is rescued from a river and reunited by her father and father-in-law with her true love.

Dimple Kapadia was the first girl I had ever felt that pining, gnawing experience of physical lust combined with emotional "I just want to be with her" type of puppy love. My nine year old spine had kundalini that could flow no where but into a reproductive organ that until then was non-existent.

Who can forget the famous song Hum tum ek kamareme bandh hai auru chabi khol jaye. This ever green film, on those days many have seen one hundred times or more, now u ask me how many times , i have seen four times, and song of the entire film at least 1000 times, i am sure this review

REASON FOR BRINGING URGENTLY BOBBY FOR MS WHY WHY OF ALL THE I make no appology for bringing bobby film for review, if any one is in love, or in romance or in the grip of love sickness or whatever problem solution lies in bobby, u forget and become teen aged

You will love rishi kapoor more than ever, he will come back in ur dream and the dream girl will also    come in ur dream to wake u up,

Bobby film stormed entire country, all youth felt a great surge of being born in india and loved any

teen girls on road and would follow them and sing songs from bobby.

many have seen this film but have forgotten the romance of it.each song gives u tearfull feelngs.i amsure if u have seen this film u wil cry a lot, holding ur wife, oh how sweet was love feelngs then.

bobby is a must film for old to young, u will learn art of slow romance.

in todays world love and romance is so fast, the girl dont knw whether the boy is really in liking of her, she has no inkling if he is keen on her or on her mother.

todays mothers are so young, i must say some are just in forties and daughtger is in twenties, mother look like sister of her daughter and the boy is confused whether she is her mother or sister, and some mothers look like not married too.why I have brought this glamour look is because  to fall in love one must see bobby, bobby teaches u how to fall in love, how to follow her and how to cry and weep for her,

since bobby is full of songs, u can download bobby picture songs fully, it is about 12 full songs  the length of the songs in total can be anywhere, 60 minutes.

WHAT HAPPENS IF U PLAY WHOLE BOBBY SONGS AT HOME AND

IF u play bobby songs in ur home, whole family will rush towards u, and suspect ur in love.

ur mother , sister or dad will be alarmed that their son or daughter has become devadas and cant give up his or her love just like in bobby.

IN PUBLIC PLACE IF U PLAY BOBBY SONGS.

persons moving around or near u, will be astonished, to find a modern boy or ms member

is really crazy on bobby songs.also try to wear a old shirt and pant and play bobby songs and also it is benifical if u sing ur self bobby songs, i am sure those who had seen bobby film will really fallin love with u.

BOBBY BOBBY BOBBY WHOLE INDIAN SANG TOGETHER

The songs of bobby is so popular, even if u cant make out from the old tape, u can still feel enjoy the joy of oldsake.

how to make others to belive ur in love, my answer is just play bobby song in full sound.i am sure ur neighbour will bring his cricket bat to have a score with u.what about the girl u are in love, As u play this song, start singing the song from bobby daily , the girl will feel so shy, her freinds will tease her, hi see ur loverboy is singing bobby song he is so crazy about u.

WHAT SHOULD BE THE NEXT STEP

Be brave to introduce to the father of this bobby girl or the girl ur in love, even if he takes lot of drink

but today u consume more whisky than the girls father, so dont feel panic, u can also sip with him.

moment u express ur love feel for his daughter, he will chase u so fast, yes as he chase u too run but stop in the middle, A miracle will happen, he will touch ur feet with his folded hands, my son

I love my daughter but please dont leave her, i belive in ur love, then u ask, i am inspired by bobby picture and u seem to look like just like bobbys father, he will feel so elevated and thank u, tears wil flow from his nose and he will wipe it fromur edge of shirt, dont worry the wetness is sure insurance for getting his daughter for u.

NIGHT AS U PONDER

UR surprised how fast I am getting this girl, i played the songs from bobby and she is not at all

declining but inclining , what next step u brood.

LET US GO TO THE MIND AND HEART OF THE GIRL WHO IS ASKED FOR HER HAND.

just two days back I saw Bobby in channel and my god the feelings of mine goes back to 1971 I was then just 21 and now at 62 feelings is same, i felt back to bobby time, Bobby is everymans story, everyboy , every girl loves this kind of romance, resistance, feelings and love sick feel and the romeo trying to win her no matter what happens.

Every sequence in this film is so well done, this shows Rajkapoor had put his heart, mind and soul and he became his son, what I mean son Rishikapoor became what raj intended to be.

Many have seen this film hundreds of times. They those who saw this film one hundred times, each time they saw the film, became hero, and dimple became their dream girl, but feelings was never sensual feel because forty years back, men never sensualised on their star girls. A meet with Australia boy.

At Bangalore I met one Australian boy of my age then, he had heard Bobby film name, and showed interest to see the film and we both went to see, he liked he loved it, yes Bobby film is so silent picture for those who dont know Hindi, heart language Bobby is, i recommend one to see Bobby film, it is time to give free ticket to those teen agers so they can appreciate Bobby I love you.

Come,fall in love...

We all know the story of 'Bobby'.Instead of boring you with that lets see what this movie stood for.Once upon a time Bollywood films compulsorily included pot-bellied heroes and overaged heroines. All this was made possible by their 'saleability' at the box office. When Raj Kapoor made 'Bobby' he changed all that forever.

A new genre of films with a fresh, young pair came into being where the story explored the pair's love.In this movie the hero was Raj Saab formerly podgy second son Rishi Kapoor. He was now an attractive twenty-two year old.And the heroine was the scintillating Dimple Kapadia reputed to be fourteen(!).

The story became a prototype for thousands of other Bollywood potboilers.Rich boy meets young girl from ordinary circumstances. They are crazy about each other but the rich boy's family is in the way.The focal point of this film was certainly Dimple 'Bobby' Kapadia. She looked like a million bucks every time she appeared on screen.

She appeared untutored and raw and this added to her already tremendous appeal. She was an actual child-woman if ever there was one.And it set the country's pulses racing.Indeed when Bobby sings 'Jhuth Bole Kauwa Kaate..." for her man its as if the whole mankind(as opposed to womankind) will go nuts.Such is her allure, such is her magic.

The music of the film is good but only in parts where the singer is proficient. The lyrics of "Hum Tum Ek Kamre Mein Band Ho..." fires our collective imaginations with its subtle and playful innuendo. Finally, one of the musical finds of this great movie was singer Shailendra Singh whose voice was genuine and had a Anu Malik like romantic, stylish quality. Here is a movie which you cannot afford to miss!

"BOBBY"(1973)

Perhaps the best known of legendary director Raj Kapoor's movies, this teenage story caught the imagination of Indians as very few before or since have.

Down on his luck after the debacle of his film “Mera Naam Joker” in 1971, Raj Kapoor went in on for unknown actors for this love story.

If you don’t come out of this film wishing you were a teenager again and in love for the first time, you are in need of an urgent oil change. Love here is so sweet, so innocent, so painful and so full of a newly discovered sexual yearning that my knees ached with long forgotten memories. Legendary director Raj Kapoor generally took on fairly serious themes for his films dating back to the 1950’s, but after his previous film – Mera Naam Joker – died at the box office he threw together a piffle of a movie to clear his mind. In terms of plot there is little here – young love – heartbreak – parental disapproval - that hasn't been done a million times in every country, but this feels so hopeful, tender and fresh that it is difficult not to surrender to its bubbly charms – and to the radiant Dimple Kapadia. Deservedly, the film has become a classic.

Unlike so many Bollywood films that attempt to make 30 year olds look like teenagers, Kapoor chose two actual teenagers to play his young lovers – one his very own son, Rishi Kapoor, who was eighteen at the time and Dimple Kapadia who was a complete unknown and only fifteen at the time – but who appears and plays older in this film. They both became instant stars – and though Rishi is a bit spongy like a soggy pound cake with a fondness for leather pants, large sunglasses and ascots he still became a heartthrob and Dimple simply stole the collective heart of a nation. She is marvelous in her collection of mini-skirts and wide-eyed gazes. Her first appearance in the film is one of those “across a crowded room” cinematic moments when Rishi sees her for the first time as does the audience – her curious shy eyes taking in the lush surroundings, her distinctive cleft chin punctuating her youth, her awkward stance – and falls in love with her immediately and of course breaks into song soon afterwards “I’m no poet, but my pretty one, ever since I have seen you, poetry has just come to me”.

The smirky Pran and his wife (Sonia Sahani) aren’t particularly fond of children and fill their time with business and social affairs. Unfortunately, they have a tiresome little boy, Raj (later becoming Rishi) who is being brought up almost solely by his governess, Mrs. Briganza (Durga Khote) and they decide to ship him off to boarding school – and apparently don’t see him till he turns 18! If all parenting could be so easy! When he graduates, he comes home and they throw him a birthday party filled with all of their own boring wealthy friends – including the older experienced Aruna Irani who clearly wants to rob Raj of his innocence and puts her ample cleavage to the test. Cake or me her body asks him. Sadly for her cleavage, Rishi has already spotted Bobby (Dimple) and has been knocked for a loop.

She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Briganza and the two start a sweet courtship that bristles with sexual undercurrent. In her bikini, halter-tops and short skirts, Bobby has Raj eating out of her hand as his hormones do a doo-wop chorus. In one song sequence the sexual longing is hanging in the air like a blown kiss as the two of them are accidentally locked into a house and sing to one another “You and I, both locked in a room and the key gets lost” as they roll around in a bed. At one point he takes her to a party at Aruna’s in which a foul fellow in a ruffled shirt paws Bobby and gets whacked around for his troubles. The main deterrent though comes from his father who is adamantly against his son marrying a girl from a lower class.

Bobby’s father (Premnath) is a fisherman – which in itself doesn't thrill Pran, but the fact that his zipper is down during their entire meeting because of an ill-fitting suit has Pran taking out the checkbook and asking him how much he wants to keep his daughter away from his son and to buy a suit that allows him to zip it. The father refuses of course. So instead, Pran sets Raj up with the daughter of a wealthy business acquaintance and doesn’t seem to care that she (a very young Farida Jalal) is totally nuts. At this point the film takes a dramatic turn as Raj and Bobby go on the run like Easy Riders and most of India seems to be nipping on their heels including the vile Prem Chopra – and a Romeo and Juliet ending seems to be straight ahead.

It was a non star cast movie. The films success was totally depend on the Music.

The music from Laxmikant Pyarelal is terrific. It was a gamble played by Raj Kapoor by taking Laxmikant-Pyarelal for composing music leaving behind his regular music directors Shankar-Jaikishan. LP were reluctant to take the offer as they were too die hard fan of SJ. But then Mukesh, the close friend to Raj Kapoor, told Laxmi-Pyare that they are the First Choice for RK…If LP refuses it would be offered either to Kalyanji-Anandaji or to R. D. Burman.

Laxmikant-Pyarelal finally took up the challenge. Laxmi-Pyare has also resolved the rift between Raj Kapoor and Lata Mangeshkar through “Bobby”.

Not even the stars were new but also the singers were introduced for the first time into the hindi film like Shailendra Singh and Narendra Chancal who along wiht the song writer Raj Kavi Indrajit Singh Tulasi, the song writer, won the Filmfare Award for their only song.

An outstanding musical composition responsible for the thumping success of the film.

-- Poetic Main Shayar to Nahin by Shailendra Singh

-- Erotic Hum Tum Ek Kamare Mein by Lata Mangeshkar - Shailendra Singh

-- Sparkling big number Jhoot Bole Kauwa Kaate by Lata Mangeshkar - Shailendra Singh

-- Highly Romantic Muze Kuchh Kehana Hai by Lata Mangeshkar - Shailendra Singh

-- Goan Folk Na Mangu Sona Chandi by Mannade – Shailendra Singh

-- Magnificent Beshaq Mandir Masjid Todo by Narendera Chanchal

-- Punjabi Folk Akhiyon Ko Rehane De by Lata Mangeshkar

-- Dancing Ai Fasa by Lata Mangeshkar.

Even the Background Music by Laxmikant-Pyarelal was excellent.

The dancing here is also quite good.

Aruna Irani is always fun to watch in her vampish performances and she has two numbers – and both Dimple and Rishi show a few good moves.

Dimple is a heart-breaker here and her appearance set off fashion trends and a huge amount of public affection.

The CLASS of the Legends Raj Kapoor and Laxmikant-Pyarelal
