Randy was left with no choice but to wait for the two ladies. While in the powder room, Carla think seriously if she needs to confront Janice or not. But she tried to gain control of herself, to clear her head, fuzzy with hatred and jealousy. She needs to resist her anger, in some other place and time. On the second thought, she think it wise to reserve it some time- not at the first time that they met. Yes, at the right time and place. She would take it slow, so Janice will not get shock knowing the truth.
"Hey, are you done?"Janice interrupted her silent mood."You seems very silent?" Janice asked her again. But she ignored that questions but gestured Janice to go ahead towards Randy.
"By the way, I'll go ahead with both of you as my classes will start early today. And Im so happy to meet you both. And... dont forget to invite me on you wedding bell! " She laugh and hug Carla before she left. " Okay, I'll wash my hands first, because its sticky."she told Janice while she stared at her, until she can no longer see her.
After some minutes she gets back to Randy. "What took you so long to comeback?" Randy asked her. "Do you know that she left already?" he keeps asking her. But Carla was like a deaf mute, saying nothing." Hey Carla, are you Okay? And yes, you owe me an explanation this time that Janice is gone."Randy continued. "Who is Janice in your life, Carla? Why did you tell her that Im your fiancee?"Randy has lots more questions, but he noticed that Carla was still quiet.
"Uuurmm...Carla, did I say something wrong?" Randy tried to clear his throat as he asked again, Carla. "Well, its like this Randy, first Im sorry for not telling you the truth."Carla was trying to sound sorry for what she has done.
" I did it because I dont know if you will agree with me to pretend that we are lovers."She said solemnly.
"I want Janice to believe that Jim and me has no relationship so she will meet me in person. Because I really wanted to see her, on how she looks. Because... of all other women, its Janice who always calls Jim even in the middle of the night. I want to see her if she beautiful. And you are the only person I know who can understand me better at this point in time. " She stopped for awhile trying to hide away the tears that's falling down on both her cheeks already.
"I just need someone to pretend that I am engaged, and Im really very sorry to take advantage of your goodness to me."She continued and could hardly look into Randy's eyes. She's almost teary eyed again.
"Hey...hey... look here, Carla. We may know each other for a short time but don't you realized that- as if we have known each other for a long time already? Isn't that enough assurance that I'm here for you' whenever you need a shoulder to cry on?"Giving Carla an assurance that he could.
I'm here to hold your hands when you're cold and weak. Im willing to spend my time and everything with you, if you need someone to cheer you up... to make you smile. So, comm'n lady! Lets enjoy the rest of the day, okay? And besides, she is only younger than you but you're more sexier and stunning than her, okay?"Carla liked what she heard from Randy, she never expected that Randy will be more than willing to share his time, money and efforts. How she wanted to embraced him, from saving her from a possible embarrassment and for being such a gentleman.
The winter wind coming from Siberia made the weather more colder than what Carla expected. Twas middle of December when she stopped sleeping with Jim, since the time she caught him sleeping with other women. She cant forget when one time, she saw the hotel receipt in his wallet. That proves more that Jim is meeting and making love with other women. But that night Carla feels bored and lonely, she remembered the night that Jim would hold her tight when she feels cold. But now its different, she would rather feel cold than be in his arms where she thinks will only make her hate him more to think that she is holding other women.
She was about to sleep when her phone rang. Randy was on the other line, inviting her to watch movie after dinner, because he will be leaving for Japan the next day. "I want it a memorable moment for us on my last night here before I go tomorrow."Randy was asking Carla for a date. But Carla thought for awhile, " What if someone will see her inside a movie house with other man?" She dont know what to tell Randy for the moment. But Carla cant say no to him, since Randy had been her constant and instant body guard since the day they met. And tonight, she feels its different from the other time they were together. Yes, tonight she feels that they are more than friends but less than a lover. And what if Randy will ask something from her? She is not even sure if she is ready for a date.
