Diagnostic Laboratory Guidelines

Overview

Diagnostic labs are a significant part of medical care. Diagnostic labs provide objective information about a person’s health. Some tests are conducted for risk assessment purposes—to control the probability of a disorder or disease.

There are two main kinds of diagnostic laboratories. One is Hospital laboratories and others are private or community labs. Hospital labs are within the hospital premises perform tests on patients. Private (or communitylaboratories receive samples from general practitioners and doctors, insurance companies, clinical research sites for samples examination and health clinics for analysis. For extremely specialized tests, samples may go from diagnostic labs to a research laboratory for detailed and precision reports and analysis.

Chains and standalone diagnostic Lab centers have flourished all over the country. A diagnostic setup is albeit not an easy task. Following are some of the points that are necessary in order to setup a diagnostic center:

  • Ample research,
  • Planning and investment.
  • Space, capital and knowledge about medical tests and latest investigations.

Quick commercialization of the healthcare commerce and diagnostics in specific has led to a substantial boom of labs in India.
