Strongly advise against purchasing a Samsung TV. I was considering updating my living room TV and was torn between sticking with my current brand, Sony, or trying Samsung. During a visit to the Virgin Megastore at Villagio, I headed to the Sony section, but there was no one available to assist. Meanwhile, the Samsung representative eagerly approached me, promoting the Samsung TV OLED with a discounted S80 model and additional warranties for peace of mind.
Regrettably, I succumbed to the persuasive pitch and purchased a Samsung TV for almost 7000QR, along with extra warranties costing an additional 650 QR. To my dismay, the TV malfunctioned within a month, with the screen going black, and there was no accidental damage to report. When I approached the Samsung representative for assistance, the attitude had changed, and I was directed to send an email for further contact.
Samsung responded, sending engineers two days later. However, their demeanor was far from friendly, and after taking pictures and a brief examination, they declared that the TV screen was internally damaged and required a costly 7000QR repair. Despite no visible damage to the screen, they suggested that it might have occurred during cleaning, claiming the TV is delicate.
When seeking help from the Virgin Megastore, I was informed that the warranty did not cover internal damage, and they were unwilling to refund the warranty but offered a deduction of 600QR from the 7000QR repair cost. This experience, from the Virgin employee to Samsung support and the engineers, felt like a total scam. What was initially a pleasant buying experience turned into a nightmare when seeking assistance.
The TV's short-lived performance was disappointing, lasting less than a month. The explanation of internal damage from cleaning seemed implausible. This marks my second unfavorable incident with Samsung, and I have decided never to buy Samsung brand again. I strongly advise choosing a trusted and reliable brand, steering clear of Samsung unless you want to waste your money.
