36k Kms Done with Etios GD
Aug 16, 2013 08:19 PM 73043 Views

I think it's perfect time to write a review, my car is gonna clock 40, 000Kms. Well I have the Old Etios, well the Rubber mount on the engine was a huge problem. Got it changed to the new Hydraulic mount and the cabin noise came down considerably paid 3 k plus labour charge for it.

After driving 30k Kms my I really had an uncomfortable ride.Spoke to my service advisor about it and I got it replaced in warranty. Well I got switched to the new suspension provided in the new Etios.I service my car @ Nippon Toyota @ Ernakulam.

Though I picked up the car from Nandi Toyota Bangalore, I wasn't happy with the servicing at Nandi Talaghattapura. They stole my Bluetooth adapter and my job was half done. At Nippon Ernakulam the works were done on time and they used to mention if there was any other trouble in the car and rectify it.

About the mileage part :the 1.4 litre engine is a beauty. In city it gives around 14.5 -16 Kmpl Initially I was disappointed, later I found that the turbocharger in the engine used to fire @ 80 km/hr + speed.

Whenever I used to maintain 90km/hr my mileage on just highways used to go up to 25 kmpl. Services Charges : 2700 for every 10 Kms, the lowest I guess. One thing about Toyota is unless there is a genuine problem with the part they won't change it. And first three years most of the parts are changed under warranty.

Cheated by galaxy toyota , delhi
Jul 07, 2013 06:29 PM 71310 Views

I had a horrible experience buying my Toyota etios g with sp. that itself is a long story. now I got cheated by their service station galaxy Toyota, Delhi. I met with a small accident and went to the service station to get it rectified. The attendant promised me that the parts are totally covered under my insurance and he would in fact change my bumper also (which I had already got rectified) within the insurance cover.

I got a shock of my life 4 days later when I went to collect my car. I was a given a hefty bill stating that only 50% of the parts are covered under insurance. When I enquired the advisor why I was not told this in the beginning, the advisor was clueless and told me to contact the Toyota dealer from where I bought my car.

Finally , I was forced to pay the said amount. Please take my advice and don't buy any Toyota car as their so called 'Q' service is a huge farce.

Toyota always rocks
Jun 25, 2013 06:22 PM 69739 Views

I bought my new toyota etios diesel model car on march 2013. So far I've done 5000 kms on this car. Really it is a nice car, where the handling and breaking of this car is awesome. Another important point on this car is the rear space and boot space. Really it can accommodate 3 ppl well in rear seat and boot space with 595 litre is more than enough to keep any number of luggage. It is a wonderful car for highway travel and very comfortable also due to its soft suspension. But it scraps very big speed breaker when it is fully loaded even it has 174 mm of ground clearance.

Mileage(Tank full to tank full method):

city: 16 kmpl

Highways: 18 kmpl(130 to 140 kmph) to (100 to 120 kmph)20 kmpl

I reached till 140 kmph but I didn't keep constantly on it but car was very stable in 120/130kmph. In this I felt figo is the winner because I reached 155kmph easily but mileage went down below 16 kmpl because of this speed.

Toyota always rock in the terms of quality and cheap maintenance. I heard qualis, innova is used to run more than 5L of kms without any trouble and even corolla also. Hope etios also have same engine life and reliability.

Fair Review about Toyota Etios
May 27, 2013 08:34 PM 71834 Views

Buying a car is always a very difficult task when you have so many options in a same category, here are some cars I did not buy as per my understanding:

Skoda Rapid: Initially had planned for the Skoda Rapid coz of the build quality and being the German brand.

But, not buying Skoda was a very good decision after considering the poorest after sales service and the lowest resale value (Even lower than FORD and CHEVROLET)

Nissan Sunny: I did test drive Nissan Sunny and was very impressed with the interior space and the drive.

But  AC was really not sufficient for people sitting at back coz during summers temperature  in Delhi reaches 47 at times (At rear, there is a pair of Fan, not AC), moreover I use to drive my car on my own so rear leg room didn't matter much for me.

Chevrolet Sail: Was impressed with the drive and the engine performance, but buying a Chevrolet car was a big gamble.

Honda Amaze: Waited for long for this Honda product and did test drive it too, but there were some issues with the car I found. Dashboard with three colors Grey, Brown and Beige which was not matching at all. moreover the engine noise was pretty audible in the cabin and did not find as i'm driving a very refined sedan or extended Hashback.

The good about this car is that it's a Honda Brand and ABS/EBD as the standard for all the models.

The car I bought..

Toyota Etios: Earlier model I drove had so many issues like suspension and engine noise inside the cabin. When I drove the new model, I was pretty impressed with the car (But not with the interiors), but the interiors can be overlooked coz one can't have a complete package ever.

Buying Toyota Brand was a qualifier for me to consider this car. The mileage is to to be calculated in total, but there is a peace of mind after buying this wonderful car.

Its been 10 days and I drove around 1000 Kms and really enjoying the drive of my Etios (GD).

I will surely be back with the fair feedback of the car I bought in sometime.

Thanks & regards.

I bought Etios by booking the vehicle before it was available in showroom for display in Jan 2011. Got delivery in Feb 2011, since delivery of vehicle I am not happy with the overall performance of the vehicle.

Will not recommend the same to anyone. Fuel mileage is only about 10-11 in petrol. Interior of the vehicle is of poor quality.

Friends, I was owning Ford Fiesta SXI Diesel and purchased from Mody Ford. Car is excellent, when it comes to after service pathetic and service cost is so high and Ford has very bad reputation on the same and still they are continuing with the same fashion.

After using of 2 years now I am planning to change my car, I have gone through several reviews on Toyota Etios (New) and now I am planning to buy the same and entering Toyota Family.

Can any one suggest me if I am going wrong.

New Etios...best in segment and ready to compete!!
Mar 19, 2013 10:48 AM 61867 Views

Congrats Toyota for becoming India’s No4 Automobile company by beating Tata Motors! The Etios has been a decent success for Toyota in recent past, but now with the launch of the Chevrolet Sail and the soon-to-be-launched Honda Amaze, the Etios is facing a big threat. The new Etios launched will be keep the challenge on.

The new Etios has a redesigned grille with chrome finish, rear combination lamps with distinct fin pattern that gives it a sleek look plus new indicators on side view mirrors. There is also a new colour called  Classic Grey. The front with the huge ‘smile’ grille and clear lens headlamps is distinctive. The running side spoiler, clean side lines and the running chrome lip on the boot go a long way in adding flair to the design.

The interiors are truly one of the strongest selling points of the Etios. When it comes to changes there is a two tone look with a textured dashboard, soft fabric and ash brown colour. Features wise you get a new 2 Din audio with Bluetooth, USB, Aux- In and remote, driver seats comes with height adjust, combimeter with new blue illumination and new AC control panel with clean air filters. The interiors are, without a doubt, the most practical and spacious of the lot in this price range and make the car feel like a much bigger segment vehicle on several occasions.

The Etios can seat five adults in utter comfort while keeping all their individuals bottles in addition to two more, at a handy distance. Further it gets a huge 13-litre glovebox to keep more bottles chilled. The Etios is now powered by two engine options. The petrol is the best in class 1.5-litre unit which is basically Toyota’s 2NR-FE unit but does without the VVTi technology to keep costs low. It not only puts out a very healthy 90PS of power, but at the same time, the car being as light as a premium hatchback means it’s power to weight ratio is better than the competition. The company also claims an ARAI fuel efficiency figure of 17.6kmpl which is astonishing for a car of this class and with an engine so potent. However the one that will be selling like hot cakes is the new diesel version that comes with the same D-4D motor as found on the Altis though in the Etios, to cut costs, it does away with the variable geometry turbo and has a fixed one instead.

The maximum power is 68PS while the peak torque stands at 170Nm. It also has a fantastic ARAI rated fuel economy of 23.59kmpl which means you will easy get around 17-18kmpl in real world conditions. Both the petrol and diesel engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.  The suspension set-up is on the softer side to ensure a better ride and comfort factor for the Indian families than for hitting the twisties on weekends.  The car responds sharply to the driver’s inputs and its ability to zip through traffic is remarkable.

It would be safe to say that overall drive dynamics and vehicle behavior are neutral. The diesel line up will now have the newly introduced J variant and prices now start at Rs 5.45 to 7.08 lakhs for the petrol to Rs 6.7 to Rs 8.15 lakhs for the diesel.

Mixed review .... but not as per Toyota standards
Mar 03, 2013 05:29 PM 61526 Views

My main requirement in my car was a Japanese branded reasonably priced reliable sedan with deep boot space and good fuel efficiency.

Toyota Etios seemed like the ideal car at that time fulfilling my requirements

Millennium Toyota offered good service.

I bought the G-Sp.model(with airbags) in May 2011 and modified it

and altered the interior and exteriors myself to suit my requirements.

  1. Got the chrome plated smile grill outside

2.Changed the interiors to leather beige

3.Got Blue LED door lights inside.

4.floor mats

5.Rain cover.

6.Bumper chrome plated Toyota

7.DVD Player inside

  1. A new Amp /sony music system and 6 JBL speakers

  2. Back seat reading lamp

10.   Reverse sensors

11.  All 4 Sports Mag wheels

all this for a lakh Rupees and my etios looks like a fabulous sedan which always gains attention at every signal. Etios Pros:-

1)  Electric Power steering - makes a very comfy drive esp for city roads

2)  Boot space - fantastic enough to load up 8 medium stolley bags.

3)  No hump under the middle seat in the back makes a comfortable seating in long journey for 3  people.

4) Great leg room.

5) Toyota Reliability

6) low maintenance.

7) Good mileage on long drives

Etios Cons:-

  1. Mileage not as promised (most definitely not 17.57 kmpl)

  2. Extremely noisy engine (petrol pumps always double question if petrol or diesel due engine noise).

  3. The engine noise is loud also because the body is made from thinner metal

  4. Faulty shock absorbers - on a fully loaded Etios the underbelly will surely scrape on the speed breakers

  5. Plastics and fibre material used in the car is not sturdy and seems low grade.

6.The slightest ditch or pothole gives a complete body jerk as not smooth on bad roads

New ETIOS V catches Fire at parking lot
Feb 28, 2013 11:53 AM 56641 Views

My 2 month old Toyota Etios V car caught fire on 24th January 2013 at 5.40 AM at the parking area below my building in Mulund at Mumbai. When we saw the car at 5.40 AM , the fire was coming out from the bonnet  and within minutes the intensity increased threatening the surroundings and cars parked besides.

It took me 6 fire extinguishers to contain the fire until the the Fire Brigade came in and did the rest. Moreover, the bottom of the car is intact and there are no traces of fire. Both the fog lights are burnt and one of the Headlights too. The bonnet couldn’t be opened. It is evident that the damage had started early from within and was only detected outside at 5.40 am when the flames started oozing out of the bonnet as neighbours first saw it from their balcony.  The Toyota representative gave all reasons to convince us that there was no manufacturing defect in the car and that the fire could have taken place from external sources. We were also told that the fire would have started inside the car at 3-3.30 am. I have searched on the net and this is a 3rd case where ETIOS has caught fire in a parked position.

Please  google " Etios on FIre"  .

Toyota needs to  address how and why this happened and it cannot absolve itself as "no manufacturing defect " as it means possible loss of life  of those people who believe in Toyota brand but are driving this cheap built car called ETIOS. My humble request to Toyota group is to check my case and not endanger the life of people as there could be more dangerous cases and loss of life if  ETIOS catches fire in a crowded locality at parked places.

Incase there are similar reviews and experinces  please fell free to call me at +91 98193 69135. Meanwhile you can see the photos that I have uploaded.

Pathetic Experience with Toyota

The experiences for the last ONE month have surpassed the enjoyable experience of owing a Toyota Etios.

With a bad luck, my Car met with a small accident within a month of purchase where in a Ford Fiesta hit my car from behind & my boot was damaged. Surprisingly there was NO Damage to the Ford.

Toyota’s Q Service Mantras have been on test. Below is a brief of my experience for the last ONE month.

  1. Free 24x7 Roadside assistance: 2½  Hour wait & watch.

I was excited to know that this service is available with the Toyota brand. It was put to test on 23.10.2012 on my way to Mahabaleshwar(Diwali Holidays) along with my Family. The accident had occurred in Turbhe, Navi Mumbai about 20 Kms from my Residence.

As soon the accident occurred, I called the Toll Free No. for assistance at 8.00 PM. I was given a very good response initially & was informed that a Tow Vehicle is on its way & the free Taxi service will reach within 45 mins. The Tow Vehicle surely did reach by 9.00 PM. We now checked on the Taxi & were informed that the Call Centre has lost his mobile no. Frantic calling to the Call Centre continued until 9.30 PM wherein we were again informed that the Taxi will reach within 20 min & his no will be given in 10 min. Finally got the Taxi drivers no by 9.45 PM. On calling the driver, he informed that he has just left Santacruz, which is another 30 Kms. from the point of accident. So he will not reach before 11 PM as it takes at least 1 Hr.

So finally we booked a Radio Taxi & left the accident spot to our residence at 10.30 PM. It was a

Some suggestions:

a. The Call Centre can surely use Free Google Maps to locate the rough point of accident.

b. Based on the location they can surely use the services of a nearby private taxi operator.

c. In all major Metro’s, there is a very good network of Radio Cabs, which can be tied up with.

  1. Quick Vehicle Service

We continued our journey to Mahabaleshwar in a friend’s car the next day. We waited for a phone call from the Service Station about the whereabouts of the car. However, No one called to our surprise. Finally, I had to make the call on 26.10.2012 & sought an appointment on my way back for 27.10.2012.

Finally did all the formalities towards the processing of the Insurance claim. Agony starts here. It is surprising to note that I was informed that all the parts would be changed. I was not aware that parts changing(as they were available) take over a month.

It has been over a month that my vehicle was at the service station. Again here I have not received more than 2-3 calls from the Service In charge about the status of my vehicle. I must have called at least umpteen times to ascertain the status, which did not yield any result. It is only imagining that you cannot drive your new car on Diwali day.

The response from the team at the Service Station is the poorest I have received or seen from any dealer across all spectrums. They do not care for the sentiments & feelings of middle class car buyers. I felt like making a mistake on the purchase of Toyota Etios.

Finally I was promised my car on 30.11.2012 after a long long wait. I confirmed to the Service In charge that I would be reaching by 5.30 PM to pick up the vehicle. Since we were receiving the vehicle after a long time, my family came along with me, as we were to proceed to Shirdi. We reached at 5.35 PM & were now informed that the Car has gone for washing. This was the most pathetic response received from the Service in Charge wherein he was informed well in advance about the timings to make necessary arrangements. We left the Radio Cab & me & my family were waiting outside in the parking area for over 45 min for the vehicle to be washed. Again, no one from the Service Station asked us whether we would like to sit or have some water. It is surprising that they can turn a blind eye towards women & children standing for a long time.

  1. Toyota's Qualified Manpower

My car was finally delivered on 30.11.2012 at 6.30 PM. We had to wait for it to be washed. But was it Washed? Nope. I had signed all the documents to take delivery. The front mirror was dirty from inside with stains. It had to be cleaned again. Since it was night, we did not notice the interiors of the car. Morning comes & we find that the interiors are dirty with the greasy marks on the roof of the car which is unhygenic. I am surprised to note Quality of the Manpower deployed.

I am awaiting response from Toyota / Dealer to pick & drop my Car after a car wash, which is clean as per standards of Toyota.

Poor Service - Harsha Toyota
Oct 22, 2012 12:25 PM 27870 Views

I purchased an Etois for my Fiancee about a month back from Harsha Toyota.Within a few weeks, the music system stopped working.

We called the dealer and they sent someone to investigate. They said it was due to a blown fuse and they will send someone to fix it. It took several more calls over the next few days to get them to finally say they can't send someone but if we send the car there they will fix it. Alternatively, they can fix it in the next service.

The car is still under warranty so I see no reason why we should "wait till the next service". In any case, I somehow managed to get the car sent to them. They sent the car back saying this is not covered under warranty and I will have to get it fixed somewhere else.

Why couldn't they tell me this in the first instance before I went through all this trouble?

Also, if there is some kind of a problem with the fuse within a month of delivery of the car, how can they refuse to fix it?

Also, my fiancee has complained about inappropriate (almost flirty) behavior by them over the phone.

Very disappointed in you Toyota. I have 3 Hondas (City, Civic, Accord) and I am very happy with their service, pofessionalism and quality.

My first priority was Tata Manza as it  is less cost and good in mileage.  But my friend who has used if 2 years did not recommend as he had bad experience when he took it outstation.  The AC stopped working  and Car broke down. It got fixed at 300 to 500 which is a good deal, but that was a question of reliability.

Secondly I tried for Swift Dzire. In Bangalore we had to wait for 4 months to get delivery.  So was not having patience to wait for long.  Secondly the boot space is worst.  Everyday I have to travel 4 hours and cannot sit uncomfortable after paying big money and waiting for 4 months to get it.  Lastly the looks of the car is no where close to international standards.  So had to drop off.

Sorry less time to write long story on Ford and Mahindra.I  purchased Toyota Etios GD  on July 1st 2012.  The good thing is a mileage of 16-17 with AC in Bangalore Traffic and upto 19 kms in long drive.  The most important is the boot space. Fantastic boot space.  3 people can sit comfortably.  Since it has a flat surface, the person sitting in middle and in the rear seat need not fold his leg.  All 3 people can sit very comfortably.  When my driver brings drive it at the entrance of star hotels, the car has the fantastic look.

Now the worst things of the car ;  All the 4 doors cannot lock.  You have to bang it to get it locked.  Earlier reviews also mentioned it, and the dealer mentioned that this has been fixed in the recent models.  But even the october model does not lock the door.    The service people gave me crap resason stating that beading rubber is good and hence it does not look properly.  Secondly the indor is made out of very cheap plastic.  So you wont feel that your sitting  in a luxury car after paying 9 lacs.

I am not a car expert.  Just sharing my experience with my new car.

In spite of coming to know all these thing(complaints) Toyota doesn't feel responsible.its is trying to make money out of its brand name and selling d brand name in d market not d product. It is disgusting thing n company has gone mad in making money in that aspect it is trying to save money on it own logo. I've new etios sedan worth 8 lakhs. It doesn't have Toyota chrome emblem on steering wheel.ever a normal hatch back from other brands have chrome logo.dash board is of poor quality, it ok , one can adjust with some trims ..how one can compromise if it has no logo?

Also it is not available in the market.Thinking to fix other brand emblem n send the photo copy to Toyota.

This is really insulting for the customer who has spent all his hard earned money for the Toyota brand

I am fed up by making call to Toyota n registering complaints.they doesn't feel responsible and doesn't feel shame. If Toyota is really concerned about its brand in market, it should solve d reverence of customers.

> lack of door beading allows excessive dust to accumulate inside the car

Etios Diesel: Verdict
Aug 17, 2012 10:52 AM 24204 Views

Zeroing on a car is a big exercise these days. However, with a clear head and mind this exercise would not waste your time and energies. I was in a search of a diesel sedan and hence pulled up my socks around 2 months back to shortlist a few which suited my budget, head and mind. The pre-buying exercise was very well done in order to have the most important attributes in mind before visiting the showrooms.

With a budget of around 7 lakhs the nearest options boiled down to :

  1. Suzuki Dzire

  2. Ford Classic

  3. Tata Manza

  4. Toyota Etios

  5. Mahindra Verito

In order to eliminate the confusion of the vivid options available, a clear mind set was required to pen down the priority list.

Priority was :

  1. A family size sedan.

  2. Good after sales

  3. Decent resale value

  4. Reliablity

  5. Build Quality

Following cars were ruled out , since they didnt fall in my priority list:

  1. Suzuki Dzire : The boot and rear was cramped. Not a real family sedan

  2. Ford Classic : Poor resale and high spares/service cost

  3. Tata Manza : Worst after sales and build quality. Bad Resale too.

Left with 2 options :

  1. Toyota

  2. Mahindra ; was later ruled out on the grounds of being under powered and never saw the car running much on road or parked around anywhere in neighbourhood too. Secondly, comparing Mahindra with Toyota simplified the elimination further. Bought Toyota Etios GD finally on August 1' 2012 and am happy about my decision. Family too is glad to have it owned.

What I liked :

• Same Diesel engine technology (D4D) powering all Toyota's from Liva through Prado, minimal turbo lag and excellent drive.

• Fuel efficiency. Ran 700 Kms in 40 Litres throughout city driving in Delhi/Noida. Average : 17.5 KMPL. Hoping the average would increase in months to come.

• A practical family sedan

• Spacious interiors can easily carry 5 adults

• Balanced suspension

• Toyota’s excellent after-sales service

What I didn't :

• NVH levels are comparatively high, however drop down while revving around and above 60 KMPH.

In a nutshell :

A Practical Performer with Non flashy looks. With the trio of Toyota badge, Diesel engine and 7.25 Lakh pricing (On Road), this one checks all the right boxes. The good drive is a bonus.

Nice car but  poor interior  average good city - 12km.& highway - 17.80 km. Long drive very comfortable, powerfull engine. Toyota is a big company. But why did they put low quality plastic in interior ?

The good-bad-ugly

I bought a diesel Etios two months back, after researching & test driving DZire, Verito & Fiesta Classic.

I had to opt out of DZire as I found that the dash board extending below steering column is coming in the way of leg movement. Actually it was hurting my shin bone as I pressed the clutch. The posture to drive DZire did not suit me & I had to look for other options.

The Verito was a fine car. Big space, very good engine & suspension. Perhaps the best amongst the four I test drove. However, left hand like controls, retention of drum brakes & taxi image put me off.

Fiesta classic drive was also nice. But turbo lag is too evident. Unfortunately the shock absorber of the car I drove was making big noise & I became septical about Ford QC.

Finally I test drove Etios diesel & apart from engine noise entering into the cabin, I found the car to be quite good and purchased the same.

After driving it for 1500 km in 2 months, my feedback is as below:-

Good points :-

Spacious inside, excellent engine (18-21 kmpl assured), matched & smooth gearbox, very good steering response.

Bad points :- Very soft suspension, will bottom-up & make nasty sound every time it hits a pot hole. Problem is less at higher speed or with more occupants. The pedal force to activate the clutch in diesel model is very high. One needs to seriously consider this for city driving.

The Ugly :- Indeed due to lack of additional gaskets, water accumulates in the region between door frames. Water however does not seep inside the cabin. Had the misfortune of breaking the lock holding the rear seat. It was a shocking revelation as to how flimsy some components are. Ditto for bumpers & the black grille at the front.

So friends, when you choose to buy this car, be informed about the Good-Bad-Ugly aspects.

Before buying the etios, I was so confused among Vento, Dzire, Manza & Etios. Then I researched a lot but no help. Etios reviews was so horrible. At last, I compared all cars myself & in conclusion, I found only Etios is the car which is value for money. Some factors are as under:

Dzire:- so common, lake in space, maruti tag which I hate most.

Mnzza:- poorer after sales service, market value 0.

Vento:- Vento Is the model which I like the most more than Etios but very highly priced.

The Etios:-

Toyota very reliable brand, very simple & sober model, big space inside, very good after sales service, good engine, great pickup. In short guys, I want suggest Etios only take a test drive & than feel the difference.

My experience with Etios is great. I bought Etios in December 2011.

Good reliable car, fun to drive

Have had the etios petrol now for 10 months and done city and highway driving. its a great car for both. I just came back from a 1000 km drive of north India and I must say it drove fantastic and mileage was awesome. its engine is great and it is fun to drive and light on the highway. it handles well and the space inside at back and in trunk boot space for luggage is awesome. The car size is just right. compared to honda city I found two things negative- city is lighter to drive and gear change is smoother /better in city. Rest etios is a great car. value for money car. The back seat is really spacious and comfortably seats people with ample leg room. Yes the usual negatives are true---interiors are not good...no feel of luxury and styling could be better.

Guys my insight is always go for Japanese cars. They really are great!
