Don't buy tata cars

This car is very spacious and very comfortable

It is a fun to drive it

But maintainence cost of this car is very high

Car turning radius is very high so u turn in city is a bit difficult

And worst part of this car is that it donot turn on in winters

In cold winter morning you will strugle cranking the car

Average of the car is fine

It gives average of 12km/liter on city roads

So if you don't have problems with maimtainance cost and strugle in winter morning then go for it

The Tata Safari has being undergoing facelifts and Tata Motors has retained the same chassis design of its Safari. The Safari design looked fresh and contemporary a few years back, and now Tata Motors is working on an all new Tata Safari which will be launched sometime in mid-2011. Now the question is with Tata owning Land Rover, will the new Safari get some characteristics from any of its British SUVs.

Never purchase this car
Dec 27, 2015 11:15 AM 37599 Views

Tata safari storm is a new generation car of the tata safari.I purchased this car 3 years back, but this car is not able to fulfill my requirements. This car is not up to my marks. The cost of this car is very high and but the features of this car is very less, Today in the markets  on the same price is many good car is available. The car is very compact so inside the car is not so much is available for the sitting.

The fuel consumption of this car is also. The looks of this car is not very good there is need to doing some improvements in the design of the car.According to me if you have the surplus money than you only purchase this car.The maintenance of this car is also very high, required more money for the maintaining to this car.The reliability of this car is not so good.Overall car is not so good for the purchase.

Tata Safari The Beast Unleashed
Dec 27, 2015 10:40 AM 37829 Views (via Android App)

Guys today I am going to review Tata Safari Dicor 2.2vtt which was a upgraded version of old safari.i bought safari on oct 2010 that time people know this as a status icon and I also really proud owner of that vehicle.i heard lots of negative review about tata safari but in my opinion they do not know how to drive a suv.people say its service cost is very high but this is not true if you will drive your vehicle roughly than you have to invest big amount of money this applies on every vehicle not only on safari.i hv safari ex model pearl white colour which is most sold colour of safari.

Interior looks great with wood finish and pioneer music system inbuilt which was good but I replaced with sony.roof top ac is there so journey is comfortable also for rear passengers, in rear seat hand rest is also there.come to mileage safari will give you a mileage of 10kmpl on ac in highway drive and 8kmpl in city drive this is not a great figure but I am happy with this because its a 2.2ltr engine.ground clearance is high so you do not have to worry about bad roads which is common in India.

When you start safari u can feel its power and after that you will be in a diesel rocket.mind blowing speed but in turning safari is not comfartable you have to decrease speed otherwise your vehicle will roll over the road.overall I feel safari is a beast this is my opinion about tata safari which I experience after 5years as a proud owner of a safari.

TATA Safari for enthusiasts, commuters stay away!
Dec 14, 2015 08:22 AM 62210 Views

I dont understand why people rate cars without owning or using it for atleast sometime, people buy safari with the heart not head, Just like you buy a bullet over a herohonda, Those who have owned it will still cherish the memories and they will surely admit it is the best vehicle they have ever owned despite of niggles and minor repairs. I also wonder how people can comment that it has very high maintenance cost, Though minor repairs will often come, it is as cheap as an entry level hatch to repair. I had front power window malfunctioning two days back, changed the power window motor- it costed rs 1350 including labor. Changed the rear bushes @ 60000kms it costed 1200+ 400 labor+ tax.

Btw, getting 13-14 kms on highway and 10+ in city is good for a 2.5 tonne XXL sized suv with 140+ hp/320nm torque, compare it with efficiency of an innova which has only 102hp/200nm torque and weigh much less.

I request fellow motorists not to degrade a vehicle only because it is made by an indian company.

Nightmare of a car!
Apr 27, 2015 04:49 PM 85630 Views

We have owned a Tata Safari Dicor since 2008. Soon after purchase I returned the car to the dealers - the clutch was behaving like a very old clutch. The dealer'bled' it and said the problem had been dealt with. Well it hadn't been dealt with and within a few months the clutch failed and had to be replaced. It has been replaced yearly ever since.

In case you are tempted to think it is my driving skills or lack of it, we have an older car - the clutch has never been replaced! The electronics is aweful - nearly all windows don't function well, doors can't be opened.if ever there is need to'regulate' car quality, Tata Safari makes the case. We made an error when we purchased it! Simply stay away from it.and perhaps anything Indian!

Enjoying my journey with Dicor 2.2 vtt

Tata Safari was my dream for long time now and finally achieved in March 2014, only thing is that bought old 2009 model but in awesome condition and  from well-known person. I am in love with this Safari.

Here is my experience, I drove this monster from Bangalore to my native place in Ratlam, MP and distance is around 1600 KM, I am so impressed with the Safari performance. I drove around 900 KM in a day from morning 4 AM to evening 3.30 AM and reached Pune, took rest in Pune because I don’t like to drive in nights, next morning again 4 AM by 2.30 PM reached at native place. it was so amazing experience that I will never take a flight for my native. My own monster will take me to native place. I drove around 4100 KMs in 10 days but didn’t get tired.

Really great car, people may talk negative about this Safari but as per my experience its really amazing car. Will upgrade to it in near future.

Safari Safari 2.2 VTT Dicor, Best SUV
Aug 20, 2013 07:01 PM 46094 Views

I have now had the Tata Safari 2.2 vtt Dicor for a year & half, I bought it in 2012 march. Its the best looking SUV according to me, The pick up & drive is awesome & have driven it to 170 kmph, the comfort & space you have is amazing.

Its the best best vehicle for long high way drives. I have a Scorpio also but the safari is much much better. I really love this vehicle. Before I bought the safari 2.2 vtt I heard a lot of horror stories from people who surprisingly never owned one.

Please don't listen to them it really awesome, especially for the price you pay. A true Value for money & much more. My advice by it with your eyes closed amazing SUV the best, Love it.

My viewpoint on Dicor
Jun 12, 2012 12:49 PM 51594 Views

Been 5.5 years of owing the Tata Safari 3.0 ltr Dicor. It has clocked 50000 km. Its been a pleasant vehicle to drive and own. Have it serviced at the same service centre throughout. Initially, started out getting it serviced every 6 months then after the first 2 years it was yearly service( ~8000/service). Been around quite a bit .... all close places around Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Hassan, Chikmangalur, Coorg, Mysore, Ooty, Kolar, etc...

Average usage is about 80 km / day.. (with some non usage in between). Average mileage is 10km / lt in city and 13-14 km/hr on Highway.

Very spacious for a family, lot of legroom. During the first few days after buying, everyone around put it down saying it was a bad choice compared to scropio. Had it in my mind for a long time. but as time has passed, I can clearly say that my decision has paid me well.

Value for money in that price range. I'll put up a picture of my Safari soon.

Love My Safari.

Never ever buy this crap.
Mar 15, 2012 11:52 PM 53244 Views

Well if you are going to spend 8+ lac on a thing like this then what I can say. The people mostly buy this SUV the moment they saw it  and became crazy about it's looks , but let me tell you the place where I live previous year have so many safari owner some say I love the looks of this SUV, some say it's rear part is so cool and some say it's interior are best in the class , but what the people say after all this is that this do not have a solid build up quality which I totally agree. The area which needs to be focused is it's heart and most important reduced it's hefty weight due to which it is known for a best fuel guzzler in it's class. it never ever came up with the features what the mahindra scorpio vlx top end variant came up with it than is Tyre tronics , superior build up quality and overall the best in the class safety package system which rules out safari in this class . the maintenance department for like this kind of vehicle is also so expensive after 4 year which will totally create a headache for one who does everyday long runs, as we don't know the moment that when it will break down. the technical region need to be improved more and  more and most important the pace for the last row of passengers which is worst in this class. Needs to be improved.

Let's burn some money
Feb 12, 2012 01:02 AM 51146 Views

Having driven around one for 5 years and 90K Kms, went to look for the latest price and mods in the 2.2VTT(not storm/merlin).The best part is the show room did not have even one piece on display and struggled to find the price list finally they took some old price list and wrote the updated price with a pen.

When asked why the Safari is costlier than Scorpio there was no answer, also asked him for the asking price of 15.5 Lac how better and what new features compared to XUV500 only silence.

Last question was anyway you are not selling as I do not seen any vehicle on display or getting ready for delivery why is the price still high again only silence.

So looks like the the issues I had with the first verion of 2.2VTT is still there as I could not even see the new vehicle.

This vehicle is personification of lack of sync between engineering and purchase

My complaints with the old one are

1) Poor fit and finish, none of the plastics join together well

2) Hard clutch, get hard fast and gets stuck to the floor some times

3) very high cabin noise at speeds above 100 on highways, just switch off the player you wont hear a thing

4) Monthly to Weekly visit for running repairs

5) inconsistent mileage, changes from 10-12km/L. depends on when it last went for service

6) Cheap parts, one goes down takes down a few along with it

7) Poor braking skids forward, its crime to sell this thing without abs

8) Be ready to replace brake shoes freqently

9) Very poor service service staff, once they changed the battery and next day alternator failed!

10) Very costly and rare parts

11) cheap third rated interiors/plastics/seat fabric/rubber beading/ski rack/Everything

12) rough engine( but powerful)

13) Started rusting in three years

14) Poor paint quality, gets dull very fast

15) Lousy noisy wiper motor as if its fitted in my head

16) Poor position of the player, very difficult to operate

17) Noisy aircondion blower, almost deafnening with max blower speed

18) poor noise insulation can even hear people(gently) talking outside with all windows closed and engine running

19) Inconsistent engine power with temp, sorry cannot explain its better every day its different.

20) Drill's a big hole in your pocket, real big!

21) Rubbery gear shift, some times unpredictable and will not engage

Now the Good

1) Road presence

2) Nice looks, stand little far otherwise you will see the clear gaps and cheap plastics!

3) Space

Sorry there is nothing more!

Bit of advise

If its problem you can live with, don't fix it because in the process it will only get worse. Quality need to be from the factory and not at the dealer or at the service station. most of the parts once taken will not fit that well and then mechanics are often helpless and they resent to the fact.

If you observe you can see at least one customer shouting in the TATA service center, go to a maruti service center you get to see people sitting calm and quiet

I have seen people comparing the price of Ford Endev and Toyota Fortuner and other suv's and then saying ah great I just brought a great SUV, come on wake up

Question is, what is the engineering/features for which you are paying or is it the excise plus the profit which you are paying?.If the company is incapable of building it in India and pricing it at 18-22 lac paying the Gov excise and then asking you to pay both profit and excise?

This does not mean that you can be damn fool burning cash on a poorly built suv claiming that its better than others as its cheap.

If you are filthy rich buy, Let's burn some money!

Beauty and the Beast!
Nov 03, 2011 12:56 PM 48498 Views

Driving is my hobby and Tata Safari Dicor 2.2 VTT is the perfect tool! I had owned a Daewoo Matiz and a Maruti Swift LXI before upgrading to this Beast. I have driven 5000 kms in the last two months, all during weekends and have not once felt any Monday Blues!!! This is my only car, so I take it office as well. It feels as though you are in your living room, even if you are caught in traffic for hours!

This baby's awesome road presence gives you a princely feel, especially when every other vehicle gives you the right of your way and admires you from the rear! I still have a lot of kms to go before I can write a more technical review. But for now, the comfort, speed and feel are more than enough for me to savor! This vehicle is best for one who likes to take the road at the drop of a hat! It can fit 5 adults and two kids without any discomfort whatsoever! TAFE's after sales service has been awesome so far. Hope the relationship continues...
