Tata Indica Vista GLX Safire65 Reviews

Mangalore India
Most Value for money hatchback.
Sep 12, 2014 03:34 PM 106341 Views

I bought this Spice red car on 11/7/2012 from Auto matrix, Mangalore, with exchange offer to my 7 years old Tata Indica V2.The purchase process was good experience. Our family was happy to get this car delivered on our daughters 4th birthday. Before deciding to buy I took an year to study, market survey, etc& finally bought it.As I drive around 20-25000 km per year for marketing.

I wanted more powerful, FE, spacious, safe, comfortable car for long drives. For 6.6 lakhs with original fiat engine, system with Bluetooth, adjustable steering& seat, double barrel head light, fog lamps, it was value for money for sure.I had to fit extra fitting only parking sensor, costed me rs.5500/=

I like comfortable drive, pickup & power is superb(driven up to 140 Kmph), ABS with EBD, high torque which makes city driving at 3rd or 4th gear is very smooth with out any jerk. Also Music system with blue tooth is amazing(Only while call the person on the other side feels like I am far away from the mouth piece).Shocks are very smooth, ordinary potholes are nothing for this.Cabin noise is too low, nobody can feel diesel engine is under the hood.I don't get leg pain by pressing accelerator(Indica was hard), nor back pain for long drive(adjustable lumbar support is nice).

With double barrel headlight & fog lamp night driving at heavy rain is comfortable.Special features like door locking after 10kmph speed, top light switches on as door unlocked, Fog lamp will switch off the moment ignition off, (doesn't switch on again when you switch on head light), etc are some good ones.Rear seat is very comfortable, of course I can't sit, since I drive. When small accident repair was supposed to be done they did it very fast & I got the car back in 4 days with full job done.It was indeed a great experience.

I always fill tank full diesel & check FE, Best was only once 24kmpl & worst at city drives with Ac was15.14 kmpl.I normally drive at 80-100 kmph & up to 130-140 in highways always with AC on.So average FE is17.27 kmpl till now.I have driven around 47, 500 km till date.

Maintenance cost is including timely service, 4 tires changed at 26, 300 km(damaged bit early because of Good year tires given by Tata), with Silver AMC contract(up to 60, 000km), costed me rs.40000/=till now.Approx Re.1/km is  O.K.I think.

I don't like the A pillar thickness, which blocks drivers vision for vehicles coming from RHS especially in curves & city traffic.Quality of chrome lining on steering(T symbol gone & it irritates to hand) & on handles are weak & comes out.Another thing, quality of floor mats, & mud flaps are very poor, all have gone already. In rainy season with Mangalore rains keeping car engine compartment clean is not at all possible, since water splashes till the bonnet, even though splash guard & engine guard are there.Ground clearance could be increased.

I enjoyed even driving upto 850 km driving on a single day alone & family(full car).5 adults & 2 kids can be accommodated comfortably.

MY HORRIBLE EXP WITH TATA DEALER
Sep 06, 2014 11:40 PM 106324 Views

As I thought of upgrading my petrol car to a diesel car, I enquired about diesel cars from different manufacturers. As my friend having an old Indica for a long time and suggested me to take a Tata car but he also warned about the worst experience in the dealer point. In spite of his advice I stepped into TAFE ACCESS at Pallikaranai Near to my House and had a look at INDIGO ECS diesel. The sales Person who attended me suggested me to go for Indica Vista VX Tech as I am oversized. So I decide to go for Vista and the Process started. He asked me to give a token advance to start the finance process. I also paid Rs.5000/- on 21st Thursday2014 and the finance was processed through Tata Motor Finance. The process was like gentle breeze and I found no hiccups. I also got the loan sanctioned and the finance person asked me to complete the documentation.

I called the sales person and told that I have to sell my Old car Maruti Baleno and also I have a customer, after selling the car I will not be having movement vehicle(You know very well how a vehicle is important for person in the service industry). I need the vehicle as early as possible. I also requested him that I want to select the car before making the payment. He also promised that Ican select the car at the time of payment. So I have completed the finance formalities on 26th August2014.

I visited the showroom on 28th August ’14 to pay the balance amount. When I enquired about the selection of the car the sales man told me the car has been already allotted to me. I was totally upset and made my mind to go with the car allotted to me as I need the car urgently. So I requested that I want to see the car. Sales man told me the car is in the yard which is 40 kms away from the showroom. He insisted me to pay the balance amount in total and I also did the same. Again I requested him for a Pooja Delivery on 29th August ‘14(Ganesh Chadurthi Day) which is the highly auspicious day in the year. He told me he will try and asked me to give a call by 11am on 29th. I called him nearly 4 times and I got vague answers. So I went to dealer showroom and found there are four cars of other customers and other sales man waiting for pooja delivery. I was completely upset. I returned back home and the called the sales person he told me on Saturday 30th he will show the vehicle.

On Saturday 30th I went to the showroom once again and they show me the car parked outside of the showroom. The car was totally dirty; lot of greasy finger prints in the seat, dash board, glove compartment door handle and in the door trims, the plastic cover in the rear seat was completely torn out. I was totally upset and I asked for a new car. But again a big shock like thunder blown on my head that the car was already invoiced and insured from 26th Aug 14. I found no other way and asked about the dirt in the car they simply ignored my questions.

Again I called the sales person(who will mostly not available in the showroom) he promised me that the car will be delivered to me after doing the cleaning work, and completion of RTO work by 6 pm on 1st September  I can take delivery of the car. I also Made a request that after 1st sep 14 the days are not auspicious and again I have to wait for one week till next Monday 8th of sep 14 The sales person also promised me the delivery on 1st sep 14. From the morning I was following the sales person and got confirmation that the car has gone for RTO and will be delivered in the evening. So Based on his commitment I made all arrangements in the temple for new car pooja, when I was on the way do the dealer showroom with my wife and kids for the car delivery. I got a call from the showroom and some female lethargically told that the car was not registered and asked me take delivery on 2ndTuesday sep’14.

I was totally out of mood and canceled all my pooja preparations.  I am buying this for my own purpose to go and meet clients. As I met with an accident in two wheeler, I can’t ride two wheeler I am spending nearly 1500 rupees as auto fare daily, Who will bear this. Now As by my fate am waiting till 8th of September ’14 to take delivery of the car. In  the mean time on 5th of September 2014 I have received a SMS from DM-TATA MOTORS, the body of the message is” Your Indica Vista VX Tech QJ FORREGN is ready  after service.PL contact Your service advisor at 42901234 for taking delivery”

  1. I want to know why an undelivered car has to go to service station and the job has to be raised in my name and number. Before allotting car to the customer don’t you do the PDI? will you book the new car job in customer name? ridicules

  2. Insurance was taken from 26th of Sep’14 by the dealer without my knowledge and even I do not know in which company I am having my insurance If I am taking delivery of the car on 8th Sep why should I pay insurance for 15 days unnecessarily

  3. As per my knowledge the invoice for the car was raised on 26th Aug’14. but the show me the car only on 30th Aug without registration

  4. The car was allotted without my knowledge I have been forced to take the car by the dealer

  5. I am totally UN happy to buy the car but there is no other go.

  6. I am shredding tears now as I made a wrong decision to buy a TATA Car

  7. If a customer is handled in way that he will not ever turn back to a TATA dealership. I will definitely tell my horrible experience to all my clients and I won’t allow them to take any TATA CAR

What is the use of introducing world level products with 0 commitment and local market dealers?

Previously I really thought why Tata cars are not hot cake in the market? But Now I am very clear that with this type of customer support Tata cars will never be in the first position

NOW I CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD THE TATA’S STRATEGY IS NOT ‘HORIZON NEXT’ IT IS ONLY’ HORRIBLE NEXT’

N.B: For Your information that one of my friend booked a Maruti swift car on 30th of September and the car was delivered on 1st sep 14 evening after the RTO work completed. This is the commitment from Maruti

Tata Motors - Rathod motors Vapi, Gujrat
Aug 14, 2014 09:47 PM 106180 Views

Tata does make the best cars in India but their service centers are sub standard and they sc my car, my car registration # GJ15AD2135. Check my vehicle history.

I complained to the customer care. I went to them again and again to solve my poor performance problem but they could not see it and at last I had to open my car engine from out side and when they did the scanning they found some electrical problem.

When I bought the car, it had the best features and performance. Now its class 3 driving machine, all due to service center people. Now customer care is just exchanging emails and the dealer Rathod motors, vapi, Gujarat, is not taking any responsibility.

4 years and still a beast
Jul 28, 2014 09:01 AM 111833 Views

I bought this beast in 2010 I had shortlisted many options and to tell you frankly I was not considering to buy Tata car at that moment.I test drove Maruti Swift, Volkswagon Polo, Chevrolet and Fiat Punto.  After test driving all the cars with in the compact car segment I finalized Fiat Punto and Swift, polo was touching outside the budget. My friend told me about this Tata model and pushed me to give a try

I test drove Tata Indica Quadrajet Diesel Version and man the moment I stepped on the accelerator I felt a Powerful, Rigorous Beast inside I felt in love with the engine and I immediately decided to go for it.I did not cared for interior quality and stuff because that can be modified according to the taste later out.For me the most important thing in the car is the Engine and drive quality and this beast gave me mouthful of it.

Now its 4 years of relationship but still when I step inside I feel a fresh new beast waiting to be unchained and I like it .In city traffic when I see many cars snailing around my beast comes in with passion and maintains the pickup with ease.Unleash this beast in highways and feel the difference words feel short to describe it

Some cons that I found:

Tata customer service persons should be more trained and qualified to handle these cars.I do not find them professional enough. They are improving but still there have to be done a lot.

Build quality as mostly said should be improved more to add on to this beast

May 19, 2014 09:43 AM 211359 Views (via Mobile)

Good car! 29000 k, I am till now about to complete 2 years and is very well going.

One of my friend is having vista from last 5 years and he had driven more than 1.5 lack km. Quadrajet engine still no maintenance, only regular service is been done. Buy Quadrajet engine don't buy TDI.

Comparing it with swift and other non Indian cars is not done, there maximum spares are imported hence the price is more.. and lot of our currency is exported. We buy only Indian cars

Have manza, scorpio and my cousin have Verito.

Swift VDI Rs 6.9 lacks-

-No music system.

-NO rear defogger.

-No rear wiper.

-No comfort.

-No Bluetooth connection.

-No rubber matting.

-No mud flap.

-No ABS EBD for brakes (which is very imp. for everyone).

-Vista VX Rs 6.45 lack

You get everything which you don't get in swift as mention above.

Never buy this car... 48 hrs & still waiting..!!
Nov 25, 2013 12:01 AM 83083 Views

Never believe this car. I had worst experience ever in my life. I was driving my car @ speed of 100 and engine goes off for no reason. bloody this is worst thing I have ever heard for breakdown of any car. I got stuck on highway and still waiting to resolve same, I have wasted my 48 hrs, precious moments of my family function & still counting. TATA Motors this is best example of humiliation.

Back pain with Tata Vista
Nov 08, 2013 11:20 AM 83634 Views

In simple words, do not buy this car. It has ample of space, good suspension, the average is fair, but you will realize after some time that the seating arrangement and the accelerator position is odd and uncomfortable.

I had very bad back pain and hamstring stress after using this car for some time, always choose a car with international styling and standards, don't count on this one for comfort.

Best In Hatchbacks, Truly Worthy Of Being A Sedan
Aug 16, 2013 02:34 PM 85586 Views

Overall the car is excellent car and truly worthy of being a sedan. Sedan class comforts in a hatchback car price. The car I am talking about is Tata Vista Safire GVX 65, the top end model in the petrol class. the car basically has all the features you would expect in a car much above its price range, undoubtedly in a sedan class car. The minutest details have been taken care of in making of this car.

Looks are absolutely brilliant especially the headlamps which makes the car look really GRAND.  also the backside looks of the car has been enhanced by the shiny black strip below the rear which eliminates the monotonous looks of the backside. Also are present the intelligent rear wipers which starts automatically when the car is put in the rear gear.

Safety features are also immense with automatic locking feature after the car has crossed a speed of 10 km/hr.  the only feature lacking is the absence of airbags. Suspension, handling, and driveability of the car is brilliant with a very low turning radius and makes you feel like a king of the roads. The only issue faced is the low fuel economy during city driving which according to the authorities will improve after having the car has clocked a certain kms and after having driven on highways on the top gears.

Basically an excellent car to be bought with tons of space present in the same.

Touching one lakh km and still snappy
Jul 21, 2013 11:45 AM 87237 Views

I've had this car for over two years now and I've driven it for over 94, 000 km. I was apprehensive before buying my first Tata car. You've all heard the usual complaints, Indian car hai, features don't last long and niggles play up soon.

I can honestly say that I've been pleasantly surprised by my experience with the car. I have a daily drive of over a hundred km on the highway and I've never faced any problems running this car that long day after day.

It's a spacious car, five people can be easily accommodated and there's still plenty of leg room. The boot space isn't that big though.

It's a fast car, with the Fiat diesel engine doing justice to its name. Great pick up at around 2200 rpm onwards when the turbo kicks in. The heavy diesel engine does mean it's not exceptionally maneuverable in city driving, but that's true of most diesel cars.

In two ears of running and two major accidents on top of that, I've had no problems with the car, including the so-called niggles every one seems to complain about. Not a windshield wiper, not a spray nozzle, not an AC vent, not the auto door locking, nothing has gone bad or stopped working till date.

As far as inner build quality goes, it's not as polished looking as Maruti models for sure, Tata needs to do something about that. The plastics look a little cheap and have the odd rough edge.

The AC works very efficiently and the stereo system is great too, connecting my phone via bluetooth was easy and much better than connecting to a Sony stereo system.

The only problem I found was mainly to do with Tata dealerships. Most of them have ill-trained staff and are bad at even routine service, leave alone accident repair, so search around for a good service centre.

The good thing is that routine service can be done by the local mechanic too, that's one USP for Maruti, Tata and Hyundai!

I have no problems recommending it to anyone and I'm sure I'd buy this car again.

Don't go by tata reviews, or reviews placed by these so many pro tata fools, lest you become one after purchasing this car.

If you really want, then go for the originals in fiat.

Here your indica vista quadra will start troubling you after some cosy time, then you will run to their service, they will make you run further, for your satisfaction and good night sleep and your money.

Don't fall in the hands of these cheats.

You get your car attended for some problem, the same problems reoccurs the next day. Then you find that your charm is gone.

The service centre would not even care to completely pack your car and make you drive it back. Be any one of them. I have tried so many.

So dear people go for original car makers . Not for the goods carriers.

Some of the perennial problems with car are:

Suspension noice: would not go evfen after they attend is so many times; now i have learnt that this has been taken care of in new models, but there has been no recall by company and my car has not been rectified by them.

Body alignment: not good, all doors and back door not properly fit

Body finish: no good finish and fits.

Reliability: they have forwarded me a used vehicle, used by them for demo purpose.

They have even not given me extended warranty for which i paid to them.

The car eats away tyres.

Ac throws dust in the cabin.

Rattling noices from every nook and corner.

  • many more.

I had offered tata to take this car for doing r&d, but they tried everytime to temporarily fix these problems in their workshops, but to no avail.

Tatas if you are reading this, take this car for r&d, for shortcomings in your product.

Friends, don't buy tata cars it's very local car
Jul 18, 2013 08:25 AM 82226 Views

I bought a Vista Quadrajet in Dec 2009, within 15, 000 Kms All Tyres Damaged. This car required to check wheel alignment before each journey. within 35, 000 Kms its clutch piston is broken and cars breaks down, after 2 months clutch piston again broken, this piston is a low Quality plastic plastic.

The ac is very bad we will not get cooling I complained about this but my problem is since not cleared. With my experience I decided that I will not purchase any tata product in my life.

So friends don't become foolish by purchasing tata cars, if any doubt please contact me  9037928187

Tata Vista car concept is good but, not in real
Feb 14, 2013 09:59 PM 87273 Views

It is responsibility of TATA Motor and its Show rooms like Concord Motor, Daury Circle...I bought Indiva Vista with Fiet Engine in June 2012 and I am unhappy with my brand new Tata Indica Vista car.

Reasons are follow:

  1. Finishing for plastic materials are pathetic

  2. Rear seat is not good, when somebody sits on rear seat, its iron frame touches.

  3. Concord Motor behaves like they are TATA Motor and they will not above error to TATA Motors and just give casual solution.

  4. QC is not done properly at the time of Car delivery. within weeks of purchase, front left door hinge became loose and front left foot mattress was short. And inspite of complain to Concord Motor they did temporary solution and didn't change that mattress.

If a new buyer gets these kind of error whom I will promote Tata Motor. I told all my friend that I did mistake by going for TATA Motors.

A car meant for family - True VFM
Jan 19, 2013 01:21 AM 86054 Views

Purchased Vista in December for a very good discount offer. Test drove Swift, Ritz and Figo before. At last, drove Vista with Family and that was it. I decided Vista it should be.

Best in class space and comfort, especially rear seat comfort. Swift was nonsense at rear seat.

Sheer power from Quadrajet engine. Once the turbo kicks in at 2K RPM, Vista goes mad like a raging bull. Mine is VX model with ABS as standard. Excellent braking.

I somehow dislike the Indica Badge. Wake up TATA, Vista is not an Indica. You are comparing a horse with a bullock. This is a major reason, people are showing blind eye towards Vista assuming it is just another version of Indica. Anyways, I am happy with my Vista though.

The design department at TATA seriously seems to be under-paid as nothing is innovative in terms of design. Plain old looks with little or no attention towards product design. Look at Hyundai, Honda.

Panel gaps are awkward though can be lived with but why TATA why?

Except from above petty complaints, I am brimming with happiness everytime I drive my Vista. It has goodies like ABS standard on Mid-variant VX, Electric ORVMs, Anti-glare IRVM with night view, Steering mounted music controls, Bluetooth music system integrated nicely with dashboard, 60:40 split seat, Driver seat height adjustment, Tilt-steering, Lumbar support to save our spines, awesome fog lamps, rear windscreen wiper, demister which are only found on Sedans.

Vista is truly a Sedan class. One thing I like to mention is, the rear old design of Vista is an advantage for its rear leg room. Due to'C' shaped design, back seat is pushed further creating excellent leg room without compromise on boot space, though boot space in not best in class.

Coming to engine performance, no doubts at all. It is the same FIAT engine running in Punto, Linea, Manza, Swift, Dzire, Ritz and even Ertiga. Multijet(Quadrajet as TATA calls it) is under Vista's hood. Vista is a highway mile cruncher. It doesn't sweat even after hours of continuous driving and once the Turbo kicks in, get ready to take off like a rocket.

Suspension is perfectly designed for Indian roads. It eats potholes like hot cakes. NVH levels are awesome as well. Roll up the windows and thats it. A silent cabin with a nice music makes you feel good about the drive.

Steering is heaviest in the class and makes someone wonder if it is power-steering or manual. Well it is hydraulic power steering though and is very comfortable to me atleast. I like heavy steering rather than a Electronic power steering, which makes me feel like I am driving a toy car than a real car.

Body roll on high speeds and sharp turning is NOT at all a good experience. Do NOT take sharp turns with Vista, you may feel like losing control and get panicked. TATA hasn't designed the anti-roll bars well for Vista and accompanied by soft suspension, makes it worst.

ABS does incredible job for this machine. Beautiful response from brakes in emergency braking. Gear-shifts could have been improved, not best in class. Also, speedometer is mounted at Central console which I like very much in Vista. Area behind steering wheel is clean which gives commanding view of the road ahead.

I feel like sitting in a mini-SUV being on the driver seat of Vista. Ground clearance is excellent for Indian roads.

Overall, I would recommend Vista for anyone looking for a budget car. If you are a racing type guy or who is looking for perfect car then Vista is not for you. It has its own set of compromises and if you can live with minor issues, then there is nothing like it.

The best value for money car
Oct 29, 2012 05:57 AM 84630 Views

Comfort: It's the best among the hatchbacks there is no other competitor in this field for Vista. I20 which happens to be the worst for rear seat comfort. I would says happens to fail infront of Vista. Reason 3 average built 6' Six feet tall people were easily seated in the rear seat which doesn't happen in any of the Hatchbacks available at this moment in India.

Performance: Well there is no doubt about the engine as you all know  So I am sure you all know it's the best engine because it's none other than FIAT Stable manufacturers of Ferrari.

Value for Money: Yes ofcouse as happens to be lot less expensive than other hatchbaks in India.

Fuel Economy: Gives me 19.2Km/L in City (Bangalore traffic) and gave me 23 on highway. Which is good all the way

Worth the Money....Tata Vista VX Quadrajet DSL
Oct 28, 2012 09:29 PM 86018 Views

With a on road price of 6 lakhs 47 thousand at Pune, this is a best package with ABS, EBD & excellent interiors. Engine noise is very very little & good space inside. Very smooth.

On millege I have crossed 1377 kms with 1month & 10 days gives me 16-16.5 kms/litre avg, But company person tells that it cross 21 kms/litre after 2 -3 service (7500 - 10000 kms), but I dont believe it will reach 21kms/liter may be around 18kms/liter avg possible.

With the same features & Engine- swift / nissan / figo / punto, cost is around 7 lakh on road.

My experiece after 7000KM
Oct 06, 2012 02:08 PM 85044 Views

I brought the Tata Vista Quardrajet LS last October, I have done about 7000km and here is my users experience.

Before the Indica Vista flashed on my radar, I had checked out on the Chevy Beat diesel after waiting for over a month for its launch.

What went against the car was its price, an over funky look for a person of my age and almost shoulder tackling with the sales lady sitting beside me every time I tried to check the car handling by taking a sharp right turn during the test drive. It left me feeling like I was oversized for the car. The last nail in the box was my wife’s comment that she will have to carry a novel every time she will have to sit in the back seat as she can’t see much from the rear view windows except for the hazy Kolkata sky. So the cute little Chevy Beat was ticked off.

My last car was a Maruti so the Swift was next on the radar, and luckily the new swift booking too had just started. The black interiors and the feeling of lack of space and almost 70g extra price were some of the things that too went against it. I even walked into the Mahindra showroom to check on the Verito, which immediately reminded me that I am not wearing a bell bottom pant with a peace sign and don’t have hippy style long whiskers and side locks, a total 70s Hollywood flicks looks.

Next came the Tata, all the nightmarish reviews and warnings and the red flags about going for a Tata car was set aside when I walked in to Lexus Motors Kolkata showroom. The sales boy a young kid and what I liked about him was that he was not pushy; he first showed me the Tata Indica ev2 as he thought would fit my budget, but something told me I will have a Chevy Beat shoulder tracking experience with my fellow passenger in it too, so it was out. And then I test drove the Vista. And that was it.

You know something you got to have, when u see it, was in my case. I fell in love with it after the test drive. It made me feel like I was driving a big car and I was the king of the road, no shoulder tackling and no novels for my wife when she sits on the back seat. I loved the power and the sound of the engine, the almost zero vibration and no cabin noise. The car was a rocket once the turbo kicks in.

My running is not much may be 500 to 600km per month. Except in long drives with friends or family, the car is flawless.

I  use regular diesel, refusing to fall for anything more that’s hawked by the oil companies. I get an average of approx 16 to 17 in the Kolkata traffic and about 20 to 22 in the highways always with AC on.

The drive and the handling quality is above average though the car is not meant for too much of zip zap zoom type of driving and don’t take high speed turning too well. The steering feedback could have been better and the gear shift needs improvement and I have yet to feel confident while breaking. But if you are not looking for a driver’s car, but something that will take you from point A to point B in very good comfort and safety then this one is surely at the top of the list of the hatchbacks currently available. It don’t have the usual luxuries that comes with top end models but the cabin comfort is comparable with the best in class. It has great leg rooms both for the front and the rear passengers.

The AC is not great if you want instant chill after you have left it in the hot noon sun for an hour,  but then it has a awful lot of space to cool. So one has to give it a while, before its effect is felt. I have found no quality issues in the plastic quality of the interiors, except the widow handle that almost threaten to come off when you are working the windows. I am hesitant to install a power window that will bulge like a potato in the place of the window handle, unless I find a solution that will install a power window on the door arm rest like in the original fitted Vista, till then I have decided to wait. I am hampered a bit by the lack of LHS RV something the Tata always say they don’t have in stock. Tata must do something about its horn, I have a feeling it sounds the same to a pedestrian walking 5ft away as it sounds to me sitting inside closed cabin.

On my second service I insisted on the engine oil change but the concerned person convinced me otherwise, advising me to get the oil changed only at 10000km. I how ever got the antirust coating done in the underbelly keeping in mind the monsoons.

Recently I have installed a music system a modest Pioneer DEH-1490UB with matching 4 Sony speakers that fits exactly in the same place where the original Tata speakers are supposed to be. The sound quality is nothing to die for, but my rock and blues sounds ok in volume 12 on a long drive. Anything is better than the Blaupunkt that comes from the company’s stable. I have also installed the Autocop Terminator central locking system which till now has worked fine for me along with a decent quality seat cover (tight fit). My next in line will be GPS navigation and Alloys.

In the end I must say if you are looking for a set of wheels that looks good makes u feel like a big car owner and want to travel in peace and safety and don’t like surprises, nasty or otherwise this is the car for you at a price point which is very competitive. Vista is not a head turner or a design award recipient, but it looks big and majestic to me and onlookers and makes me feel happy.

I felt vista lacks power compared to swift vdi..has pick-up only in 3rd gear. LS model lacks rpm meter..so observed speedo meter to check its turbo. It kick start only when speedo reads 50-60km/hr in 3rd gear but in the case of swift , turbo starts with a huge back punch when speedo reads 40km/hr in 3rd gear, i.e., swift reaches that 2000 RPM mark faster than vista but city driving is so easier for vista due to its higher torque. Since both cars own same engine..but the tuning is different.

Tata's have tuned it for mileage ....

I am owning Tata Indica Vista, quadrajet since last two years. I have drove this car 40000 kms. ( almost self drive) Space inside is very good ( More than Swift, Figo), driving is very comfort and pick up is also very good even more than swift, Head Light is really superb.

Tata Motors need to do some changes in cooling system and gear system, as cooling is not sufficient while fully loaded, specially to back seat and Gears are not so smooth. They also have to change other look and than nobody competes VISTU MARAJ !!!

At TASS, you have to change so many things. Washing and cleaning is very bad.

After due comparison across various web portals & Test drive I decided to settle down for the Vista QJ Aura ABS model.

My daily driving was approx 66KM within Mumbai (Thane to Mahalaxmi/Prabhadevi) hence made sense to go a for a Diesel model, options I had were Swift (long waiting period hence got ruled out), Figo (High child part cost ruled out this option), i-20 (was above my budget), Polo (was just launched back then hence had no credible data apart from manufacturer claims), the option I was left with was Indica Vista & given the circumstances & available information went for it.

Got the Vehicle in Aug’10 from Fortune Motors Thane, Delivery process was smooth & got the vehicle delivered within a weeks time on the desired date.

Engine performance:

The engine was quiet smooth & very responsive, the pick-up was very good & the car could easily pick-up on second gear as well. Even after 30, 000 KM the engine continues to perform as new. No problems till date with the engine. Rating 10 on 10

Space:

Sufficient for 5 Adults to sit comfortably, can accommodate 4 Adults in rear seat with some adjustment. Boot space is quiet good & sufficient to go bag packing for a small vacation. Front seat leg room is quiet spacious (found the space to be more than Swift). Rating 10 on 10

Comfort:

AC I guess Tata’s have got one thing correct in all their models & that is the AC. Very powerful cools down the cabin very fast. Only problem I faced was with its fuse at around 500Km because of which the AC use to be on even if the switch was in off mode, was replaced & since then no problem. Got the servicing done at 29, 000 KM & is again back to good. Rating 9 on 10

Music System , The Vista Aura ABS model comes with an integrated Music system located on the central console. The best part of this is the Integration of Phone console with Music system. I have used the CD placer yet as the USB port suffices my music requirement. The phone console is very good and allows you to receive & make calls comfortable. Only problem is if there is someone accompanying you there is no privacy & you have to go back to good old handsfree ;) Rating 10 on 10

Driving with the power steering is quiet comfortable, vehicle can be maneuvered with single hand. Gear slots are well defined. Clutch is hard compared to Petrol variants but not much of an issue as you get used to it. Apart from these two way adjustable driver seat & adjustable steering wheel allows the driver with multiple degree of customizations as per his needs

Fuel Economy:

Have been monitoring the fuel economy, considering city use with AC on 100% I have been getting an average of 16+KMPL, with maximum going to 18.36KMPL & lowest being 14.28 KMPL (during Monsoon season) Rating 10 on 10

Problems faced

ABS circuit issue (light use to be on always) this was only a software glitch which was rectified by changing the circuit (problem encountered at 750Km, post that no issues)

Power window switch replaced at 5000 KM (second service); back light of power switch was not working post that no problem

Frond left hand door handle was hard, problem was solved at first service post that no problem

Boot door shock absorber replaced during fifth service under warranty (I guess this can be due to normal wear & tear)

AC fuse replaced as mentioned above, post that no problem

Rear struts replaced at first service, post that no problem

Apart from above problems the car has been a value for money with no major break-down. Only suggestion would be if Tata’s can fix these minor glitches.

Overall a very good package which requires fine tuning.
