Tata Indica Vista GLX Safire65 Reviews

My experience with Indica Vista Aqua TDI
Jan 21, 2011 03:34 PM 12786 Views

This is the first time I am writing a review for my car. Before I start, a brief about myself. I am from Patna, working in IT education Industry and have deep interest in automobile ever since childhood.

I learnt driving on a left-hand drive Willyz jeep, then shifted to Ambassador, then to Indica V2 and currently my Vista. I purchased the car on 16th. October 2009 from Guinea Motors Pvt. Ltd., Patna, who also happen to be my next door neighbour..:).

Till date, I have done 18600 kms, which includes several long distance travels also. I would like to present my experience as below :

  1. Dealership - I got the car on day of Dhanteras, and needless to say, the showroom was overflowing with customers that day.

(They delivered a total of 160 cars that day !!). However, the Relationship Manager, with whom I had been dealing earlier, gave me enough time and paperwork etc was done within reasonable timeframe. The car was washed and cleaned before delivery, no to forget the red ribbon!

However, one thing I dislike is the way drivers and guards surround you the moment you are leaving showroom with car and start demanding for tips. It seems to have become a custom now - I have encountered this in Service centre also.

  1. Ride Quality - Having driven Indica V2 prior to buying this car, the ride quality was extremely good. Bumps and jerks were absorbed somewhere deep down under and nothing passed on to driver or passenger.

Having driven various other cars - like WagonR / Spark / Alto / Dzire etc., I can definitely say that suspension system of Indica Vista is much superior to any other car of its class, and it can even beat bigger cars in this department.

  1. In-cabin space - There is loads and loads of space inside - much more compared to any other car of its size. 4 average-sized people can easily sit in rear seat, with their legs spread out. The only negative I look at - more storage space could have been generated in dashboard.

Also, boot space is quite less. I wish few more inches are added to its width to make storage better.....WagonR has better storage space. And yes, the bumpers are too plasticky. While driving from Patna to NewDelhi in January 2010, a stray dog suddenly came in my way.

I was doing around 110 kmph at that time. It crashed against the bumper, went below the car and ran away, crying. When I got down to check the car, I found that front bumper was completely damaged, and had to get it replaced.

  1. Engine noise and performance - The first crank of engine gives you a sense of satisfaction. The idling sound of engine is much quiet and delightful compared to my older V2, which sounded more like a 2-stroke genset.

Also, with fundamental changes done to placement of alternator and fan belts, the screeching belt noise, so prevalent in earlier V2, is history now. And, the best part is engine's performance with AC switched on....there isn't an iota of difference felt while driving now.

The Turbocharger does an excellent job the moment engine touches around 2000 rpm - feels like someone has pushed the car from behind and it surges ahead !!.

  1. Mileage - In city driving in Patna - 15 kmpl without AC, 13kmpl with AC. Highway driving - 21 kmpl without AC, 20 Kmpl with AC. Now, there figures are not assumed ones. I have tested this using simple method of getting full tank diesel and setting tripmeter to 0. Once I completed 300 kms.,

I got tank filled up again. Now - 300 divided by litres of diesel needed to make the tank full - that's it!. Highway - I have measured the same way. And yes, I have driven extensively on highways ever since I purchased the car - Patna to Kolkata - 2 trips (2400 kms), Patna - New Delhi - 1 trip (2500 kms), Patna - Lucknow - 1 trip - (1300 kms), Patna - Ranchi - 10 trips( 7000 kms) . And during all my trips, I have calculated mileage and it has been consistent.

  1. Maintenance - I have had two major maintenance issue till date -

(1) oil leakage from crankshaft oilseal. For this, the whole gearbox had to be unmounted and the oilseal changed. This cost me around Rs2000/- and problem has not recurred since then.

(2) A loost connection in main fuse circuit, which lead to headlights switching off randomly. This cost me around Rs.550/- to get repaired.

  1. 21/05/2011 - My feedback upon completion of 20000 kms and 4th. free service :

This service requires change of engine oil, oil filter, diesel filter and transmission oil. Upon change of all these and additional works - change of ball joint and left suspension arm, wheel alighment and balancing - the entire cost was Rs.6700/-.

This was the first time I got wheel alignment and balancing done - tires have not been eaten away though. I say this to denote how good the suspension system of Indica Vista is. The mileage of my car has been consistent and no other mechanical problems have occurred till now.

Yes, I did do some highway trips in between - Patna - Kolkata - Patna - total of 1500 kms. The car holds beautifully on highway at 100 kmph, with no in-cabin noise. Yes, the parcel tray in boot space has given away due to weight of speakers.

When I contacted service centre for this, they suggested that I get a locally made tray installed, as the OE tray is not designed to hold speaker's weight !!

I am planning to do another long-haul drive from Patna to Ahmedabad and Surat sometime this year. I am sure Vista will keep up to its reputation...:)

To sum it up, my experience with this car is quite satisfactory. Anyone who loves to drive and has a budget of around Rs.4.5L can go for this car.

Vista - an excellent car
Jan 19, 2011 11:29 PM 8713 Views

Since Oct 2010, I have been driving Tata Indica Vista Quadrajet Aura, in Kolkata, where average speed is 15 Kmph! But I am getting about 14 kmpl, Long highway driving so far not tried.

I have done 4800 kms, only one service done, waiting to see 5000 & 10000 service and results thereafter. I received multiple calls from Tata Motors, asking about any problems I am facing, good followup work by Tata.

For a short trip I have traveled on highway, at 140 kmph the vehicle was extremely stable and smooth. The  engine is free from sound and vibration.

So far I am happy with the performance.

Could be better

The overall look is ok.However the rear should have been little longer so that it does not resemble the Indigo cs.I have noticed that when shifting from 1st gear to the 2nd the speed slows down and it takes a while to get back to the earlier speed. Also the car takes a little time to speed up so that vehicles behind start hooting the horns which is very embarrassing especially for a lady driver.I must also mention that the fuel consumption in this car is very high making it very difficult to the purse. It would have been excellent if our local dealer provides this vehicle with a set of carpets.

Tata Indica Vista Safire - CNG retro-fitted
Nov 30, 2010 11:21 AM 22019 Views

After spending a really long time (almost a year) researching and reading reviews online, I finally bought my first car, Indica Vista Safire Aqua. The car is due for its first service (1 month) in 3 days. Hence I'm writing this review to give my initial impressions about the car.

A little background:

I joined a driving class just 20 days prior to taking delivery of my car. So, I couldn't drive well when I got the car. Infact I'm still learning and have "L" on front and rear windshields.

Experience at the dealership, Wasan Motors, Borivali (E), Mumbai, was pleasant except they refused to give any discount. Instead they offered some accessories like carpet, sun flame on windows and rear windshield, mud-flaps and teflon coating. Delivery was given on time and the experience was good (conducted a small puja and prompt paper-work).

For initial 20 days, I was only driving in 1st and 2nd gear, occasionally 3rd. Hence, I'm not going to comment on the mileage in this review. Just for the record, it still have around 9 kpl. But I expect this to go up as my driving skill improve and also, generally the mileage goes up after the first service.

Suspension is excellent. This is no exaggeration. My friends recently bought an i10 and when he drove my car, this is the first thing he exclaimed.

Handling is really good. As I told you, I'm a novice driver. Yet, I've steadily gained confidence in the car and drove it to office a few times in rush hour traffic on Western Express Highway, Mumbai. Also, drove it early on Sunday morning on the same highway and moved all the way up to 5th gear. Car is very steady and easy to handle. Power steering is smooth and responsive.

Front seats are comfortable and provides good lumbar support. I have not had a chance to ride in the backseat, but 3 adults can sit comfortably in the back.

Looks are subjective. So, I won't comment on it. In my opinion, the car looks good.

The only issues I have faced so far:

1. Left power windows scrolls up slightly slower than the right power window.

2. Small (barely audible) squeak in the steering column when turned abruptly.

3. Mileage. But I expect this to improve (explained above).

Apart from these I've not experienced any problems in the car, so far.

I'm not writing this review to influence anybody's decision. I do not need any vindication of my decision. Intention of this review is to help others make an informed choice.

Enjoy and drive safe.

---- UPDATE ----

Hello again friends.

I'm posting this update one year (5000 kms) after my initial review about my car.

Highlights since last review:

  1. 3 scheduled free services (1 month, 6 months, 12 months)

  2. CNG kit fitting.

1st Free service:

I reported issue 1 and 2 listed above during while delivering my car for service. When I went to recieve my car back, steering column squeak was resolved but power window issue was not. I pointed this out and they did some adjustment to the rubber lining on the window frame which 'seemingly' solved the issue. The same issue surfaced again after a couple of days. Steering column noise was fixed well.

During this interval, we once drove with 6 ppl in the car (4 in the back seat). At one place the car hit a pothole so hard that we could hear a distinct sound of something damaged. After this the rear suspension made a noise over the smallest bump of pothole.

2nd Free service:

I reported the 2 issues (Power window and suspension noise) while delivering my car for 2nd service. This time too when I went to recieve my car, power window issue was not fixed. I pointed this out again. Same solution. Same problem re-surfaced after a couple of days. Suspension spring had shifted. This was re-adjusted and the problem was fixed well. The suspensions have been working well since then.

During this period, due to rising petrol prices, I had a CNG kit fitted in my car (details below). No new problem had crept-in during this period.

3rd Free service:

Car was due for an oil change during this service. They quoted me a price of Rs. 4600 for oil change :o I refused to have the oil changed from them. To this the service advisor retaliated saying this will cause the engine warranty to go void. He didn't even know my car had a CNG kit (Retro-fitting CNG kit makes the engine warranty go void). Anyways, the power window problem was solved well this time. Later I had the oil changed from my trusted mechanic.

CNG Kit fitment:

Due to rising petrol price, I decide to have a CNG kit fit in my car. I did a lot of research about CNG kits and how CNG affects the engine. Contrary to the popular belief, CNG enhances engine life. Since it is a gas, it burns completely and leaves no residue in the combustion chamber of the engine.

I chose to have the CNG kit fit from Shreeji Automobiles (Kandivali West) after looking at several vendors. He stocked 2 different brands and I decided to go with Lovato. It cost me Rs. 36K including, Mahanagar gas license and RTO registry of the kit.

I consistently get a mileage of around 15 km / kg, which comes to about Rs. 2.10 per km at current cost of CNG (Rs. 31.47). This is in rush hour city driving with AC partially ON (I keep the blower continuously ON and keep toggling the AC button). Car is running very smoothly.

Pros and Cons of CNG

Cons:

  1. Slight performance dip. This is very evident when driving below 1800 rpm in any gear. You need to adjust your driving habits a little to change gears a little late.

  2. Frequent refueling. CNG gives a range of around 100-120 km on a full tank before it goes in reserve again. Thankfully almost all pumps provide a separate queue for 4-wheelers and it has never taken me more than 15 minutes for this.

Pros:

  1. COST: The biggest single-most reason to go for CNG. Running cost is unmatched.

  2. Engine life: Don't listen to all the noise around you about engine going dry etc. Do you own research. CNG enhances engine life.

  3. Environment: Since CNG is lot less polluting, more vehicles that switch to CNG, better our environment will be.

One more thing, while I was researching about CNG option a friend of mine was also thinking about it. Infact, we did a lot of research together. We even made a break-even analysis. According to it, we needed to cover 9000 kms to justify the price of CNG kit (at that petrol price). He did not go for the CNG option. Now I've noticed a significant difference in our attitudes towards our cars. Whenever we have to take our cars out for a drive, he subconsciously thinks about the cost of the drive. I enjoy my drive. That itself justifies the cost for me. The feeling is difficult to explain in words, but its a wonderful one.

Happy and safe driving :)

TATA INDICA 2 TIMES OWNERS EXPERIENCE
Nov 16, 2010 03:52 PM 10800 Views

I've been using TATA INDICA cars from 2001. My first car was DL3CY3232 & II one is DL3CAC6154. Retreating my service charge experiences, it was very reasonable during the tenure 2001 to 2005. (M/S.Sanya Motors-Okhla Delhi). II car was also serviced by Sanya Motors and visibly started charging unreasonably.

Approximately upto 1.5 paise per km.

I could relate with the Printer selling market, printer cost is Rs.1K and each time the cartridge replacement cost is Rs.600/cartridge

In 2009 I moved to Chennai and did 2 services with Concorde whopping charges, I gave my idea of getting services by authorized dealer of TATA.

Many references I got about this approach by our country's greats Industry group.

Last month me and my boss went to Concord Motors - Velacherry, Chennai (Mr.Rajesh was the Executive) great handling.

We made the booking, on 31-Oct-10 they asked permission for invoicing, we agreed and next day he calls and tells that by mistake it has been invoiced to somebody. (needless to narrate what would have happened in the backdrop)

Loss of words to describe our experience in getting back the money.

We now took delivery of GM-Optra.

The pain part is we both are hardcore selling guys for last 15 years working in a major automobile ancillary parts manufacturer, beleive we may not suggest anyone to go for TATA.

In Other words, the crowd is just like in the textile shops and hence they have decided they can exhibit DADA approach.

Still somebody wants to dare to go with them, sure of posting your review by 2013 or 2014.

Vista Quadrajet Aura
Nov 10, 2010 05:49 PM 12629 Views

Just taken delivery of a brand new Indica Vista Quadrajet on 29th October 10.  I've chosen the Aura model, which has Power steering / power windows / central locking / rear wiper / 2 din stereo / driver seat height adjust and adjustable lumbar support.

The Quadrajet is fantastic value-for-money : After using an Indigo for five years, the smooth revving Quadrajet plus the Eurtech gearbox has finally brought the much-needed change to the driving experience.

Fit'n'finish is vastly improved as compared to the earlier generation of Indica / Indigo. Also space is vastly increased, with a lot of leg room / elbow room / wider body.

NVH levels are also much improved and the car is very silent : once its warmed-up, its difficult to tell its a diesel-engine vehicle.

Superb ride / handling, excellent pick-up, already getting an average of 14 km/litre with A/C in the city, even during the running-in period.

The front end looks nice : the rear is (in my opinion) too much like the earlier generation Indica / could have been better designed like the Punto.

Dont even think of buying Indica Vista Quadrajet
Oct 14, 2010 12:54 AM 15441 Views

Now its almost a year from the day when I bought this Car and I would strongly request/recommend you to not to buy indica vista or any tata motors car as it will be the biggest blunder one can ever make in his life.

My car has almost done 30000 kms and from the day one I have been facing lot of problems in my car like poor mileage, 2 times clutch has been changed, shockers, power steering, power windows, radiator fan, brakes, disc plates, disc pads, a/c blower motor, wiper assembly, calipers and I dont remember what other parts have been changed till date.  You people will find as if I am joking but trust me I am not joking it is true and the best part is I have not received even a single call from tata regarding the problems in my car.

Poor dealer services, poor spare parts availability and in fact the spare parts quality is really very poor thats why all the parts have been changed within one year. Almost twice and thrice in a week I have to go to the service center for running repairs

Every time I have been mentioning same set of problems in the JOB Card i.e. there is missing in the 5th gear and I cannot drive beyond 80KMPH, lack of pick up and clutch pedal very hard and every time dealer returns my car as it is. Now it is almost more than a year and I have been driving my car with same problems, My whole life has been screwed up because every time I have to go to the service center to get it repaired almost twice or thrice in a week. My job and my personal life is suffering because of this car, as this is actually a mental harassment.

I would strongly recommend you all that please read this review seriously otherwise you will be suffering from the same pain which I have been suffering from last one year if you still chose to buy indica vista.

Tata is meant to make taxi not a good passenger car for private use.No customer care support dealers are very rude and are not technically equipped or trained.

So please think once again before buying.

Indica vista ... too good!
Sep 13, 2010 02:11 PM 15482 Views

I own indica vista quadrajet, aqua, cavern gray.

Just Completed 17000 km. Bought on Dec'2009. So it is now 10 months old. I have completed the following trips -

  1. When the car was new. I took it to Kanyakumari. The trip was like this-

Bangalore to Madurai.

Madurai to Rameshwaram.

Rameshwaram to Kanyakumari.

Kanyakumari to Kodaikanal.

Kodaikanal to Bangalore.

This whole trip spanned for 7 days and I covered 1800 km approx.

Not a single instance I faced any problem. Was always awed with engine

performance. No sound, no vibration simply blissful driving.

  1. Took it to a chennai sea beach trip.

Trip- Bangalore to Chennai.

Road was awesome so I could maintain speed at 80 - 100 kmph for most of the time.

This tim I measured the mileage- It gave 20 km/ litre.

Earlier I had measured the mileage in city - It gave 14 km/ litre.

Again driving was such a lovely experience.

  1. Just now returned from another trip. This time I covered 1000 km-

Trip- Bangalore to Mangalore. Mangalore to udupi. Udupi to Marawanthe and back.

Udupi to Mangalore. Mangalore to Bangalore.

You will have to go to these places to see how bad the road conditions

are. I somehow managed a successful trip without any vehicle breakdown.

But the potholes tested the car to the core. The bottom hit almost 7 times, but

without any damage.

The car again doesn't dissappoint but I wish the ground clearance

had been better. Still manageable.

So the good points and the bad points from my overall experience-

  1. You can't compare this car with a petrol engine hatchback. No way. Its miles ahead. The power generated from this 1240 cc diesel engine is really good. The acceleration is great. Overtaking is easy.

Superior engine quality and smoothness.

No vibration, no noise.

Good pickup and great speed and great driving comfort. Stability is great.

  1. Gear shift is smooth.

  2. Shock absorber is great. Its like being on a boat in an ocean. It sways comfortably

absorbing all the potholes with ease.

  1. There are some silly problems which do crop up like -

a. noise from ac blower. I recently rectified it.

b. front suspension shock absorber noise....which is difficult to eradicate completely.

c. bad wipers. Corrigible.

d. less luggage space ( but too much of inner space for passengers)

  1. bad plastic finish inside

Have to add here that these negative points are there but one has to keep in mind that

the same engine which is there in a punto, swift and ritz are much highly priced. Also

in vista u have more interior space.

Also the concorde service station has responded properly, unlike some of the reviews that I read, whenever I had

complained for any problem.

Highway mileage 23.71 KMPL
Sep 12, 2010 10:29 PM 12420 Views

Bought aqua quadrajet P white on 29-07-2010 done 5000 till date. Getting mileage of 13.5 to 15.5 as of now. A very stable and spacious car. Have touched 150 kmph and even 100 on hills and car feels safe.

Changed the tyres to Michelin energy 185/65/14 and ride quality is smooth.

Pickup is like rocket once it crosses 2000 rpm.

Mileage is 15.5 at average speed of 70 kmph but dealer is saying it will improve after 2nd 3rd service and I am optimistic.

View next photo| Delete PhotoTata really needs to work on their vendors in terms of plastics quality and fit & finish. Steering wheel feels ugly and hand slips from it on long drives. They should take help from fiat for selecting vendors.

I haven’t put mileage on cons section because I’ll wait till 10000 kms for any conclusion.

Would like to mention tatas warranty policy is great as compared to that of maruti. I had an alto and dealer service manger said that you are getting the car serviced from mass and why are you expecting warranty support from us.

2-09-2010

Service done at 4350 km pathetic service people at garyson motors ludhiana just because of suspension I had pre poned the service. I had told service advisor to take a pre repair test drive but he said all tata cars have same problem instead he mentioned some coatings costing Rs. 1150 plus taxes which I refused after confirming that it was not mandatory by tata. The only thing I received back was a car with a dented fender. The suspension was making same noises but service people were not able to hear those noises. My car was smashed in a parked motorbike by their technician and there was a dent on fender while test drive. I stopped him to check what had happened and he was not bothered. They tried to repair the dent but its still visible. Also complained about hard clutch but they were not ready to accept this as a problem.

Mileage-( the major reason to go for a diesel car) is 15.43 kmpl(400 km highway @ 80-100 kmph+122 km city) tankful to tankful. Lets see what happens after 3rd service.

Pathetic TATA Coustomer Service !!!
Aug 07, 2010 10:05 AM 8089 Views

His review is about the Customer Service of TATA. I went to TATA MOTORS Sales at Chembur, WASAN MOTORS on Aug. 2nd, 2010. Here, there are two different sections for TATA & FIAT under the same roof. Actually, I was a potential buyer for TATA. I went inside and a FIAT executive came to assist me for FIAT cars. He provided me with a good service, in fact very good service. His name is Prakash Kadam, A Sales Executive in FIAT, WASAN MOTORS, CHEMBUR. But, I was there for TATA. So, I went into the TATA section for INDICA VISTA QUADRAJET with DRIVETECH4. A Sales Executive of TATA (I don't remember his name, he was middle aged, having thick mustaches, Maharashtrian person). The customer service provided by him was PATHETIC. He was throwing a shitty attitude on us.

A biggest sales executive I have ever seen in my life. He was not knowing the specification of the car, comfort level, A/C etc. and moreover he was also not knowing "How Drivetech4 is better than other cars." Probably, he was not not having any product knowledge. So, to cover his weakness he was throwing that BIG TIME ATTITUDE. He didnt even bothered to take my personal details by filling a form, which is done by every car sales executive. I walk off silently in front of him. I didn't even bothered to see the TATA car again and just left the TATA section with disappointment.

And then I read reviews about TATA VISTA on mouthshut, I thought I was lucky for not buying DIRVETECH4.

All thanks for the CHUT*A SALESMAN.

I planned to buy a FIAT PUNTO EMOTION PK (Diesel) now.

The most unreliable car
Aug 01, 2010 01:27 AM 11649 Views

I am the owner of Indica vista Qaudrajet car Number Hr 26 AY 9545. In fact I had wanted to buy Fiat Punto but the dealer M/s Dhingra Motors persuaded me to buy Indica vista QuadrajetAura diesel variant. I think I committed the biggest mistake of my life. Anything connected to Tata motors has to be a compromise in quality and the finished product. I bought the car in September 2009. After 2 dyas the paint from the handles and the front bumper peeled off. I immediately took the car to M/s Dhingra Motors, from wherein I had bought the car.

They Informed me that the car was repainted and upon informing them that I had bought the car from them, they after 2 hours changed the statement saying that it was a common problem and they shall repaint the offending area.

After one week of the same, the car tyres started making noise, so much so that our voices while we were in the car, our own voices started drowning under the noise. I again took the car to the dealership, they informed me that the front tyres (Goodyear) were defective and had to replaced and I shall have to borne 50% of the cost of new tyres, to which I refused. After 3 hours of deliberation they changed two tyre that of bridgestone. After 2 days I noticed that the tyres replaced were tube type tyres whereas the tyres of good year were of tubeless ones. Upon inquiring I was informed that it does not matter and they are one and the same thing.

In short After this trouble I have had power window switch replaced, Dickey or boot pulley replaced, engine mounting changed. Every month I go to Dhingra Motors for one trouble or for any other thing to replaced. In fact I have left my car at the dealership and I dont intend to bring it back. The worst car of the year award goes to INDICA VISTA Quadrajet

FOR ALL YOU PEOPLE PLANNING TO BUY INDICA VISTA QUDRAJET, DONT DO THAT, YOU WILL BE SO DISAPPOINTED AND HASSELED. DONT BUY IT

Vista is ahead compared with swift and figo
Jul 21, 2010 06:20 PM 17272 Views

Guys I brought brand new (Diesel)INDICA VISTA AURA [QUDRAJET , with DRIVETECH 4.DRIVETECH 4 IS LAUNCHED IN JULY 2010 only] on july 2010.Before buying Vista I took test drive on Swift VDI, Ford Figo (diesel), the engine performance was worst compared with vista. Here is some technical information..

Swift gives 190 NM at 2000 RPM, FIGOgives 190 NM at 2200 RPM , butVISTA gives 190 NM at 1750 RPM...

From above u can clearly notice that vista gets Maximum torque compared with other two cars the main advantage is that Engine is smoother, gives better pickup and better mileage....

Friends I drove vista at the speed of 30kmph in 5th gear(top gear).. But the engines didnot stop it very amazing fact that no car can not even move a inch while it is in the 5th gear at the speed of 30kmph.

The DRIVETECH 4 (it is the technology that gear box is been assembled right below the engine)So the power of engine is directly delivers to gear box such that the car runs completely not even giving any acceleration ( just by releasing clutch) even in hilly areas. The vista is the better choice compared with other two cars.

The car is completely noiseless even I drove at speed of 140kmph. I have taken a right choice that Going for VISTA not other two cars. I can clearly say that vista is far much better than other two cars when it comes to PERFORMANCE, BEST VALUE FOR MONEY....

This car provide enough space for driver for legs movement. It is reliable and easy to buy. It's a family car . My dealer has told me that VISTA TDI will give around 12 to 13 KMPL mileage on first run than it will go 14-15 KMPL after second or third servicing on city ride with AC. but I have got 14.5 KMPL mileage on first run with AC. and I think it will go up to 17-18 KMPL after 2nd or third servicing.

TATA INDICA VISTA good value for money car

TATA INDICA VISTA TERRA Tdi good value for money car. I have bought that car last week from National Garage Raipur Chhattisgrh after a long-long search for good diesel car manily between MARUTI SWIFT and TATA INDICA VISTA. I have found that there is no reason to expend almost 100000 Rs more for SWIFT. My dealer has told me that VISTA TDI will give around 12 to 13 KMPL milage on first run than it will go 14-15 KMPL after second or third servecing on city ride with AC. but I have got 14.5 KMPL milage on first run with AC. and I think it will go up to 17-18 KMPL after 2nd or third servecing.

It is my second car I have sold my SANTRO. I am satisfied with VISTA TDI performance.

Poor support

I purchased Vista Quad Aura in September 2009. After one month, I noticed that beading on car roof has shrunk a bit. I lodged a complaint at Tata Motors complaint cell since it was clearly manufacturing defect. I had shown vehicle to dealer where beading was fixed with the glue. I observed in other Vistas (old and new) at showroom that all the Vistas had same problem as compared to older Indica.

I mailed the details of patch up work to the Tata Motors on 15 November. After long silence. I got a mail “closure letter”. This closure letter was for somebody else’s car. The matter remains un-resolved till August .

In March, again I noticed that beading has started coming out, which I used to fix with the hand. While driving from Lucknow to Delhi in March 2010, at first stop I noticed that both the rubber beadings of roof were missing. Apparently it had flown off somewhere in between. When I started in the morning it was there.

I took up matter with TATA Motors thru one of the dealer in Delhi on 30th March 2010.

After that there was complete silence and I drove my vehicle without roof beading till August.

I took up the matter with Ahmedabad TATA Motors office in August and finally it was resolved.

Wana buy a car 5 lacs budget

I want to sell my existing Estilo and buy another car. I first visited Concord Tata Showroom for a Fiat palio test drive. My first impression, no body was really bothered to show me any cars. A girl approached me, I told her my requirement and she asked me to wait for 10 mins. No body was was bothered to attend to me, hence I started looking at Punto, Linea and vista. 15 min later sales person came in with a price list of palio. I asked for a 1.6 version, sales person told me model is stopped. I asked her for a palio diesel test drive, she said we do not have sir, but you can book the vehicle. I was amazed at her answer. Anyways sales person showed no interest in selling any cars to me, hence I walked out to a Hyundai showroom to see the accent. It is a amazing car for 6 lacs, stunning interiors and exteriors superb driving pleasure.

I have almost decided to go for it. I then went to a suzuki showroom, to see a swift or dzire. I think expensive compared to acccent. Swift base model is 5 lacs on road. Ritz looked like to bull to me from front and a bullockart from behind. Having analysed vista, Ritz, Swift - Ironically RITZ looks a good choice... :)) but of course not over accent.

INDICA VISTA TDI

I got my vista tdi on 5 dec 2009.the very practical reason i choose vista tdi cos that was the only car that would suit my pocket . I got for 3.99lakhs on road thane registration.

Now let me write about performance of the car.overall the car has great ride quality only thing is the engine lags a bit initially.but i guess most the diesel engines do.milage wise i get 18kms/l on highways and 14 kms/l in the city.the a/c is a bit sluggish when compared with swift.tata really needs to improve on the a/c. well i never test drove the vehicle before i really purchased it.well i have used the indigo tdi and just imagined that it is the same tdi engine which tata might have used for the vista. It has a great stability on highways even on speeds beyond 130 kms/hr.breaking is quite good, the car has much space when compared with swift or ritz.

The only technical problem which i m still facing is that the speedometer custer which was changed once after i used it for 3000 kms is still hang and the fuel guage doesn't work.even when the tank is full it shows me reserve light. Tata dealers really need to improve on their customer satisfaction.i could say overall its a good product and value for money. May be my second car could be from tata .
