Skoda Fabia Elegance 1.2 TDI Reviews

Depressed with my Skoda Fabia Ambiente 1.2 petrol
Dec 10, 2008 04:13 AM 17534 Views

My sincere suggestions & advice to you all.

Please dont invest ur hard earned money on skoda brand. As im repenting 2day, the way u will.. Keep away from skoda. My perceptions got changed in my ownership period with skoda. Really dejected & depressed with skoda.

Vehicle is inherited with hell of technical glitches & flaws. Matador stock tyres have a hell of rolling noise coupler of a/c blower motor has a flaw. Roaring noise comes from a/c blower at idle speed with a/c on @ idle speeds. Rattling noise is inherited in steering column the whole car rattles while cranking the engine @ high rpms, engine noise penetrates in cabin nvh levels are poor.

There are certain glitches which even technicians are unable to sort out. The service advisors & service manager are themselves suggesting to seek technical help from skoda as even they are helpless. Im sorry about my positive reviews about fabia.

Skoda Fabia 1.2 Ambient - Test drive review
Oct 06, 2008 04:55 PM 17823 Views

After going to number of test drives and reasearch on net, I finally zeroed down to Skoda Fabia 1.2 ambient  Here are my views on this car.

Engine: Not so noisy as mentioned in many reviews, even though it is of 3 cylinder it is equivalent to the performance of Fusion, Swift, Getz.

Pickup: it doesn't have good pickup at first gear compared to Getz/fusion but if you are an expert driver you can make it.

Drive: You can not make out that you are going in 100KPH, nice road grip, you feel vehicle is sturdy, heavy and comfortable. Can drive at 3rd gear at the speed 15 - 20 KPH, this helps in less gear shift in the traffic. Compfortable at path holes.

Brake: Ambient has Dual rate brake assist which comes in handy at situations.

Ground clearance: 146mm. Even though it is lesser than the Swift/Getz but it has hard suspension to clear the humps. With 5 people in the car makes it difficult to clear the hump and is the same case with any other car.

Space: hatch backs are comfortable four and it meats that with ample leg space at rear seats. boot space is 300lts good enough for things.

Saferty: Airbags for driver and the front passanger seat, it has ABS, Collapsible stearing, Side Impact beams and tubelesstyres.

Comfortableness: 2 AC ducts under the front seats for the rear coolness, Aux in near the hand brake can use ipod easily, not a good audio instrument provided by the company, one touch power windows and a very nice interiors.

Fuel Efficiency: I have no idea about the FE, but after so much of research I found that it gives minimum of 10 Kms/L with full AC.

Nothing comes freely in this world. for a better quality and comfortnes you need to pay for it.

overall  Fabia 1.2 ambient is a good hatch back with all the facilites and its worth for the money.

No new car is bad in the market but every car has its pros and cons and Fabia 1.2 ambient has more pros than any other car in its segment.

PS: Fabia has VolksWagen engine but no dealer mentiouns about this. you can check in the wikkipedia link is - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skoda_Fabia

First impression is the best impression - Mine?
Jul 02, 2008 04:20 PM 15258 Views

I have never driven a Skoda Fabia. But I have seen it and have sat in it. This review is all about my first impression about Skoda Fabia.

Skoda had displayed an Octavia and Fabia in front of my office few weeks ago and during lunch break I went to take a look at the Fabia.

Appearance:

Overall it looked to me very similar to Maruti Swift.

Interior:

Nothing great about it. The version(I dont remember which version it is) I saw had two tone dashboard, with black and beige colors. That looked different but can never call it class. The beige color according to me was too light. Seat fabric looked okay. There was nothing great to talk about the interiors. Maybe there's a lot of features for the car.

*Seating:

*I adjusted the driver seat to my height and comfort. The driving position looked extremely good. Keeping the driver seat in the same position, I sat at the rear seat. My knee was touching the back of driver seat. I was really upset with that.

Whats next?

The look of the car was good, but not outstanding, the interior wasn't anything fabulous and the rear seating wasn't comfortable. I didn't think of even trying to know more about the car.

When I got down from the car, the sales exec gave me a leaflet which had the prices of each version. He showed me the price of the version that was kept on display. For a moment my eyes poped out.

*Price:

*Close to 8 lakhs(smiles)

Though I didn't have any idea of buying the car, still 8 lakhs literally spinned my head. Its the cost of a Ford Fiesta Diesel.

I was really thinking what difference does it make to me if I buy this car? I'm sure people who think twice about spending their money would think of better options. Maybe its for people who earns their living using others money. If Skoda is trying to create a status or a different sect of people, I'm sure people are not that dump to make mistakes.

My sincere advise to anyone who think of buying this car would be - Please don't buy something hearing the marketing executives talk. Please don't get carried away by advertisements. Anyone who has that kind of money to spend can buy a Fiesta/City/Aveo which serves many purposes as well as distinguishes their status as well.

And over all these, we could imagine how expensive the maintenance could be when compared to other cars - because its a Skoda:).

If I had around 8 lakhs to spend for a car, I would go for a Maruti Swift or Swift D'zire VDi and spend the rest of the money gradually in going for family trips with the car, or, buy a Ford Fiesta/Honda City/Aveo/Tavera/Safari.

Good Luck.

Skoda fabia ambiente 1.4PDTDI - April 08 (I am hatchback fan, earlier used wagonR(15K KM) and getz(23K) .

Also tried swift diesel(excelllent engine) fiesta diesel(Ok-ok-ford), verna diesel(not so impressive))

So far driven 3000+ KM both on highway and city no issues.

Pick up - worst compared to swift diesel, (In fact I would prefer to have swift engine on Fabia if somebody can do :-)

engine - too noisy, its one/two generations old engine with unit injector and not a common rail. When you start, it makes noise like tata trucks (407, indica v1) But smooth in 3-4-5 th gear. when you drive past 60kmph it gives nice sporty sound.

anyway noise factor doen't carry much weightage in india :-)

Vibration - not much felt inside, good insulation.

suspension - very good, while driving you feel that its different, firm and steady.

Dealer experiance - worst compared to marutis and hyundais, simply  it seem they are least interested in selling the vehicle. Nobody at dealer, really knows about the vehicle(I tried both dealers in pune). I am sure if skoda dealership matches maruti or hyundai service, they will add at least 1-2 more clients per day.

mileage - 13kmpl in city with AC, on highway 18+ with AC, only other hatchback, that can beat this is swift diesel.

Comfort level, build and ride quality- very good in the class, excellent on highway, I was even comfortable to drive past 140KMph, touched 150-155 comfortably.

Interior - very good in the class.

Gears - Very smooth gear shift, best in class.

City driving- not suitable for city driving, if you want to quickly get out of the traffic(engine responds slowly and burns more fuel if you race too much).

Service - no experiances so far, Will have troubles with spares, since 80-90% parts are imported from Germany and other europeon countries.

Skoda knows that they have troubles with dealers and service issues etc., So they do not take feedback from customers :-) and if they give good service, demand will rise, and they cannot meet that demand :-)

Hidden gems - CD player> auto volum leveler with Gala with increasing speed.  Auto door lock when speed reaches 20KMph,  Auto Wiper speed with increased speed.  Turn signal > Flash turn signal and it automatically gives turn signal for 2-3 seconds. Semi automatic air-con, maintains inside temperature to a set point.  Small cooling compartment to preserve things like chocolates.

Doors do not open when first time you open(pull the lever once again then it opens).

Bad things - High beam on left side. Giving quick dipper is difficult. Manual lock on fuel tank. No remote fuel tank cover release, anybody can open tank cover. No graphic equalizer on CD player.

Non linear fuel meter indication.

Overall

There are some features which you can find only in high class sedans(powered mirrow adjust, engine immobilizor, built in radio CD player, steering adjust,

Its a very good package.

updates Nov 08

First service after 10, 000KM completed.

  • Believe me its same rock solid build, it was far better compared to Maruti and Hyundai experiance after 6 months.

  • Overall mileage 17 KMPL (On highways, I drive @100-140 Kmph+) mostly normal diesel used and tourbojet sometimes. There is a hidden fuel tank capacity, it can accomodate 60 liters.

  • Very good suspension, it has not complained, despite rough use.

  • Breaking -excellent, very good stability at high speeds.

  • ABS, sometimes creates troubles on uneven surface, especially in patholes. but recovers.

  • 40% city driving so far -  Pickup at low speeds not that bad if  premium diesel used.

Fabia screws me over
May 16, 2008 05:02 PM 17873 Views

I bought a Skoda Fabia(Reg No HR 26 AQ 9882) not even a month back from Giriraj motors in Gurgaon. The car had barely done a 1000 kms and the air conditioning stopped working. Mind you, it wasnt ineffective, it just STOPPED working! When I went to get it checked, I faced the nightmare of Skoda after sales service for the first time. They took 2 days to even check the car - a brand new car at that and then told me a part was faulty which would take FIFTEEN days to procure. I also discovered that there were FOUR other fabia's which had air conditioning problems. I think Skoda has produced a faulty series of cars and I would urge potential buyers to be wary of this.

Upon some screaming and shouting by me, they promised that it would come in 3 days and then 3 more days and now the part has finally come in thirteen days. The over confident skoda b*stards are obviously selling a car which doesnt have spares available in India. Now that the part has arrived, they have the guts to nonchalantly tell me that the car will not be attented to on priority since there are other cars for servicing. After driving around and getting tortured in the delhi heat for 14 days, this is the consumer responsiveness I get from skoda which claims to be obsessed with quality. They are only obsessed with making a fool of out customers me thinks.

DO NOT BUY THIS CAR! IT IS FAULTY! AND COMES WITH ZERO STANDARDS OF AFTER SALES SERVICE. I wish I could abuse them freely in this forum, but I will do it later on their face.

On a separate note I challenge the Marketing head of Skoda India, the stuffy guy in a suit in an air conditioned cabin to drive his car WITHOUT the A/C in 40 degree temperature for fifteen days and then the MF will feel the pain. I also challenge him to FIND ONE CUSTOMER IN GURGAON WHO WILL SAY THAT HE IS SATISFIED WITH SKODA AFTER SALES SERVICE. ONE CUSTOMER, MR BIPIN DATAR, JUST ONE CUSTOMER IN GURGAON IS ALL YOU HAVE TO FIND. WILL YOU GET OUT OF YOUR A/C cabin and take up the challenge? Call me - your pathetic call centre has my number and so does giriraj motors.

Skoda Fabia 1.4PD
Apr 01, 2008 10:09 PM 16695 Views

Skoda kills huge expectation.

I was waiting for Fabia for the last 2 years. Heard going to launch in March 2007 then changed version and atlast launched in 2008.

Let me explain the Pros first.

Fabia is good. Excellent in looking, Spacious, safety features, driving comfort and build quality. You can feel it like a sedan.

Poor in acceleration, Engine noice and pricing.

I did test drive diesel and petrol versions.

Very noisy engine. Compared to indica v1. Poor pickup, even a TVS50 can overtake when you are in first/2nd gear. When turbo charges up it is far better.

Pricing is very high compared to performance. If you like to keep it as a style ikon it is good.

Best diesel engine is Hyundai CRDI 1.5 (in verna & gets). Even Swift/Palio Multijet engine is far better then skoda's with respective of performance & mileage.

I always recommend to go for Getz CRDI if you don't care about stlye factor and build quality.

About My Fabia
Apr 01, 2008 01:24 PM 14968 Views

If anyone ask me, tell me one sentence about your car Fabia, my answer will be this....

IT IS REALLY AWESOME.

I just got in 1 week back and really awesome

More over , I was in Dubai for a couple of years and my car in Dubai was Passat. After I got my Fabia, honestly, I am not missing my Dubai car. it is just a photo copy of passat.

Let's say Style means everything and I can say, that sentence will suite for Fabia.

Moreover, I can proudly say , I am the first Fabia owner in my place called Alleppy in Kerala.  In the road itself, the car can make a big difference, even in case of Road Respect. That is something really superb.

I heard, quite a lot about expense part of Fabia. Let me tell one thing, you cannot buy a German car with a price of a maruthi car. If you don’t want to spend and if you are really compromise on your luxury, Fabia is not the right choice for you. If you ready to spend a little in the beginning and you want the real BMW or Mercedes comfort, then go for it.

YOU CANNOT BUY FABIA WITH THE PRICE OF A TOY.

Thanks

Obscenely OVERPRICED + Very NOISY= Premium Hatch?
Mar 26, 2008 11:23 PM 17845 Views

Let's get something straight - I was one of the Fabia fanatics, waiting with cheerleader pom poms at Skoda dealerships, in eager anticipation of India's first PREMIUM hatch. I was, in fact, the first person to see the Fabia, alongwith the dealership's owner on it's day of delivery.

To say that I left disappointed would be an understatement.

My 5 main concerns after my test drive are:

1) PRICE - At 8+ lacs on road Mumbai for a Diesel small car? Are you kidding me?!? Who in their right mind would pay that? Sure stubborn Fabia advocates will throw the whole  "niche" market arguement out there, but the honest truth is thatthe car is 1 - 1.25 lacs overpriced. And to rub more salt in the wound, it doesn't even offer Automatic Climate Control!

2) NOISE - The only way I can illustrate how noisy this car is, is to ask you to stand next to a 2 year  old Tata Indica. That's because I have an old Tata Indica and the 3 cyl PD Diesel is JUST as noisy.  Not a little less.JUST as noisy. I was shocked at the lack of insulation/ refinement. Unlike the Swift Diesel that can hardly be heard at a stoplight, make no mistake, your neighbors at the traffic lights will know which fuel you use.perhaps the cars at the light ahead of you will too?

3) POWER - Another example of Skoda India's poor decision making. Did you know that the 1.4 L 3 Cyl Turbo Charged engine sold by the VAG group, parent company of Skoda, is available in two configurations - a 68 Horsepower version that is sold in India ANDa 78 Horsepower version that get's better mileage/ emissions?

When I drove the Fabia, it felt adequately powered at mid range revs but NOT till the revs built higher to about 2200 rpms. Till 2200 rpms, I was disappointed with the throttle response and as comparison 0-60 times have shown, FIATs 1.3 Multijet has it beat.

4) SPACE  - The car is spacious and the car is cramped. So far, no small car I've sat in beats the Indica for space. None. This car, does have room but its not meant for more than 4 people. You can't seat a 3rd person in the rear seat because a plastic center rear console would create alot of bottom pain:)

5) 14 INCH WHEELS -The Fabia is sold internationally with 15 inch wheels/ tires. The Fabia in India is sold with 14 inchers. The naive viewer will think that has something to do with ride quality. That is, simply naive. The truth is simply: Cost cutting. The Fabia is perfectly capable of riding on 15 inch rubber in India. Give Skoda some time, I'm pretty sure they'll wisen up just like GM did with the Optra(read my Optra review) and just like a couple other car manufacturers did

Three Things I like about the Fabia:

1) RIDE/ BUILD QUALITY - Simply put, nothing beats it. Not the Palio or even the Indica. Infact, there are C segment cars that are beaten. There are plenty of articles of praise, so I won't dwell on this

2) INTERIOR/ EXTERIOR FINISH-  Again, unbeatable. Especially on the top of the line Diesel variant. The beige/ black contrast is very pleasing and the interiors put a smile on my face. The sunroof is another first for this segment and, though small, is definately eye candy. Projector headlamps on the car were designed to house HID aka Xenon lights, but cheap ol' Skoda India placed regular Halogens in there instead.

3) TECHNOLOGY -Pretty high for India. Sunroof, iPod Jack, Rear Parking Sensors, Projector Headlights, Dash display and a decent integrated Sound system are nice haves BUT  NO Automatic AC controller, NO HID bulbs to go into the projector housing etc.  are sore points

All in all, I'd give this product a 6.5/ 10. The price is the main reason why I cancelled my booking and decided to wait for Skoda to wisen up. The noise and tight fisted trim levels on the part of the company didn't help either:)

Long awaited Fabia is here finally
Feb 13, 2008 11:56 AM 14296 Views

Well to start  with Fabia has got excellent looks and features, The company has given more importance to safety in this car for example Airbags are common in all the models, leg room is excellent, feel of the car is good. The suspension is ok. When I test driven it I found it a bit sluggish, the car used to vibrate when releasing the clutch during idle to move position. For those who have not driven the european version of Fabia will find it good. To keep a good average per litre the company has used thinner Steel in Fabia.   Also the pricing is bit high I feel, the mainteanance of Fabia will also be expensive.

My personal opinion is Diesel Swift is much better bargain than Fabia becoz of it' s excellent pricing and the car itself is more swifter and smoother than Fabia, Swift diesel's average per litre is comparably also good. Plus one cannot ignore the widest range of service centre of Maruti available all over India. Maintenance of Swift diesel will be  far less expensive  than Fabia.

To end with it's one's  own choice at the end that matter's.

Best of Luck.

Mumbai India
Premium luxury hatch - creates its own segment
Feb 02, 2008 11:49 AM 11552 Views

I posted this original review on carwale.com and found to my shock that another user "nayankibliwala" had copied parts of it here as his own review - so I thought I would post my original one here.

I finally made it to the Autograph Andheri showroom today for a test

drive - they had a Classic Diesel model - and have the following

observations.

Superb car, feels luxurious inside, very spacious inside and in the bootBoot

has "high lip" - a design stupidity affecting many cars these days,

which makes it difficult placing large suitcases inside and results in

feeling of smaller boot space.

We are not a diesel family -

so when the car was stationary and at low speeds, you can notice the

"put-putting" and slight vibration that goes with diesels.  At higher

speeds, this doesnt become noticableThe diesel engine is superbly responsive and accelerates fantastically - better than you might find even in petrols.

The petrol engine will be even more peppy and faster - will be a real quiet, performance, luxury hatchback.

Diesel

models have special filters which apparantly mean even if you leave the

fabia without running for a couple of weeks you wont have trouble, and

this also means you dont necessarily need to drive 50 kms/day to get

the best returns out of this car - but the diesel is 80k more expensive

than the petrol.   I have yet to technically verify this claim.

Inside the car gadgets and cubbyholes are all very goodSince

this was the classic model, we could not adjust the seat height

position.   In this model we found that we couldnt see the front lip of

the car bonnet - in the ambient and elegance models the car seat height

is adjustable, so this would help having a higher sitting positionSkoda

is out of production capacity until its new production line at

Aurangabad comes online n March.  So they are only able to produce 21

cars per month according to the dealer. The dealer is not even confirming delivery period for the available models immediately, will "get back to you".Dealers

have bought the early cars themselves, customizing them and selling it

for 1-1.5 lacs on top of the ex-showroom prices - off the shelf - and

these are being gobbled up by the noveau-rich - we saw 2 being sold

todayOther petrol variants will be available only after March - currently only Elegance model is quoted in PetrolGround

clearance issue - the spec says _minimum" ground clearance is 146 mm -

and this is in the FRONT, not between the wheels - here the clearance

is a more normal 160 mm or so.  The chassis is at normal height, but

the way the bonnet and the bumper is designed - results in 'low minimum

clearance" - so this is really not an issue.

If one wants even more clearance, can go for 15 inch alloy wheels, standard is 14 inch.

So

while overall this is a fantastic car - India's only premium luxury

hatchback, you will have delivery problems until March when things will

start smoothing out.

Skoda FABIA-----Test Drive Report! Achtung Baby!!
Jan 15, 2008 09:39 AM 28491 Views

I love writing the first reviews on the test drives, nothing more exhilarating.may be a Ferrari Scudera? I was called by the dealer in first week of January, as the Fabia had already reached the showrooms. They ofcourse were not allowed to display the same, until the AutoExpo on Jan9th08.

But.yours truly, managed to get a unofficial look at the car, followed by a subsequent test drive!.

Looks wise, it is quite similar to the Swift (though slighlty larger). So its not going to win any beauty contests for sure. The car ofcourse is better styling in the Skoda way, especially the smiling front bonnet, which makes everyone around know, that its a Skoda! The Paint job is fantatsic **and make you want to look athe car!

The exterior styling is also very solidly european and makes you feel confident without even touching the car! Typical Skoda obsessed with quality trademark.

Interiors, there were 3 versions on display, the Classic(base version) theAmbiete and the Elegance. The base version comes with only black interiors! The middle-level version 'Ambiente'comes

with good features like ABS, alloys, fog lamps. The top-end version of the car,

'Elegance', promises a sun roof, apart from the ABS and airbags and the **6-CD

changer**.

Currently it is released only in the diesel variants and they promise to have petrol versions out soon, though at this price, I wonder how many will buy petrol? I expect the Petrol version to be priced 60-70000/-Rs above the Base Swift model in the 5.25-5.75lakh range.

-Test Drive-

I know you waited for this a long time, so did i! Well sorry to spoil the party, but this

is when the fairytale romance goes so wrong!

Firstly, the interiorrs and the seats are perfect and I love the solid thud, with which the doors close.

Secondly all the controls are neatly laid out and within easy reach.

Thirdly, the boot space is just about **300ltr so its not going to come on a long trip unless you are a yuppie or a dink(double income no kids) type of family! Or maybe you are a rich kid wanting a birthday present? The space for the driver and co-passenger are adequate can't say same for the rear passengers as the seat bottom hits my shins and are going to be a pain in the long run. Look at the car as the bigger version of the Swift.

There is ample storage space, though not too much for your Pda's /Maps/Water bottles and other knick-knacks!

The fourth thing yet the most important-the Drive! This is when things don't add up. The ride is obviously fantastic and grounded. The interiors unfortunately being to feel small as you drive as visibility is affected due to small windscreen(same can be experienced in the swift). Cockpits look good on airplances, not cars! Next the brake pads are placed too damn close to the accelerator pedal and I found myself clumsily pressing both! Not happening! The brakes are fantastic and do a too good job of stopping! Seriously even the lightest touch and the car was coming to a halt! Why must the Europeans put the turning indicator stalk and windshield wipers stalks on the opposite sides as compared to the Indian version?Where is the logic? Next the steering response is superb and feels like nothing else on the other hatchbacks, just blows the competiton away, even better than the Ford Fiesta and Hyundai Verna!

The Fifth thing-Engine, aahhh. so you want to know if it is really upto the mark? Nope and yes, depending upon your level of sophistication. To all Tata Car users, this is the Mercedes E-class itslef. To all Mercedes users, the engine doesn't quite cut the mark! You dig? What I want to say is that, the engine is noisy (right down to a hammer banging constantly on a metal sheet! Good for all you' Metallica' Fans!), that too coming from a Skoda(i have driven the Skoda Octavia and this is same engine with 3 valvesinstead of the four to save on costs and improve mileage). Thats not all, the engine has a definite turbo-lag(not happening!) and waits to fly off the handle. But yes once it does fly off, there is no stopping the car, it touched 125 km/hr on the highway in a matter of seconds! Vrroom Baby! So its not going to be great for the city in the stop-and-go traffic, situations. Yes the engine is smooth like butter but unfortunately at this price I would expect more than just smooth.i would like to 'Feel Special'(Pun Intended!).

Pricing for the diesel base version is roughly6, 58, 000/- the next model costs 7, 17, 000/- and the top-end costs 7, 87, 000/- all ex-showroom.

So who would buy this car at this price? All BPO team leaders/people who want to make a statementwithout shelling 10lakhs for a Skoda Rider/Toyota Corolla/ /bank senior level executives / ladies who want to dirve a safe upmarket, expensive, yet small car / young adults with lots of money! All of those who want to show their status yet drive easy in the city, due to the small form factor.

So would I buy it.Yes / Maybe if I had the money and was only driving in the city and was a'Metallica' Fan and wanted to make a Statement ! Anybody feel like gifting me one?.Please?

*Hatchback King*
Jan 11, 2008 12:15 PM 11196 Views

Visited a showroom opposite fame adlabs in Andheri, Mumbai. three fabias were displayed and a good crowd had gathered.

must say the car looks great in white and brilliant in silver. on display were 3 cars all tdi's-candy white, cappuccino beige, and brilliant silver.

boot space is pretty big for a hatch back.

seems to have good ground clearance. not sure about it though.

i love the big bonnet, makes me feel as though the car is a huge engine.

the class of any product or service comes out in the detailing. this car surely

has been given a lot of attention. small features like defogger for the driver's window, lock and unlock button on the center console in front of the cup holders. touch pad button for opening the rear hatch etc. etc.

even if the driver's seat is taken fully behind the backseat passenger does have good legroom. car feels really strong when you sit in the driver's seat. steering wheel is great and also I love the gear stick.

the car does not look huge at all, altough it is huge.

my thought is that because of the high price tag, owning a fabia would become more of a statement, saying that "i have the king of all hatchbacks". although its way to early to give it such a title. but something like that. "i have a European car and I have enough money to maintain it".

also lets see how people pete(that is 'car lingo' for modify-i love the word) this car!!

ohh almost forgot, the tires man. they'r gorgeous and really wide, am sure they'll offer good grip on the road.

LOOKS GOOD TO ME.

GREAT CAR exhorbitant price
Jan 10, 2008 09:27 PM 17998 Views

Had been waiting for this car Since October 2007. Wanted a diesel car as my driving is too much. I drive about 20-25000 kms in a year. Saw the car  Today. Was quite excited to see the Car as its no doubt a good looking car with tons and tons of features. it has been launched in 3 variants Classic, Ambiente and Elegance.

The Base model(Classic) is also fully loaded with power steering. Power windows, ABS,  Dual Airbags, Stereo, but with Black interiors.

The second model(Ambiente) has two tone interiors alloys, Body coloured door handle mirrors, Electronic OVRM, Hieght adjustment in Driver and co driver seats and alloys.

The top Model(Elegance) comes equiped with Sun and Moon Roof, Biege interiors, Reverse parking sensors and Driver armrest.

The price is ridiculously high. The Classic costs Rs. 6.55 lacs, Ambiente costs Rs. 7.30 Lacs and Elegance Rs. 7.88 lacs exshowroom Delhi.

The Fabia is 300 mm longer than the Swift, 48mm less wider than swift, and 17 mm lower in hieght than swift. The ground clearance of Fabia is 146 mm as compared to swifts 170mm. The power is also lesser than the swift. The swift engine gives 75 BHP as compared to Fabia's 68 BHp. The swift engine produces a torque of 190NM at 2000 rpm as compared to Fabia's 155NM at 2800 rpm

The Fabia's engine make Hell lot of Noise and Vibrations. even with doors closed you can feel the engine Noise and vibrations.

Can't comment on fuel efficiency and drive as The test drive is going to start from 14th January 2008.

No doubt the Build quality of the Fabia is much much better than the Swift  but I feel Nobody is going to pay so much for that size of car. I may be wrong time will tell.

Skoda Fabia is out, a first look
Jan 10, 2008 02:49 AM 9997 Views

Skoda has finally launched there much awaited premium hatchback 'Fabia'. The length has been kept below 4000 mm to get the advantage of excise to keep the price low. Looks like a excellent feature packed car. Top end is going to have features like tilt steering, parking sensors, CD player, ABS, sun roof, keyless entry, sun glass holder and many other things. These features are not even available in any mid size car like city, corolla etc

Diesel engine has little less power but fuel efficiency shall be marvelous, shockers etc have been given treatment to suit Indian driving conditions..Mileage is not known....

The car is launched but the site does not still tell the price. You can visit fabiafeelspecial.com for photos, brouchure and other things.

They have even a contest running. Skoda will have to increase the reach of dealers as they have stepped into a segment which probably will sell more and real good competition to getz, city, ikon etc

happy motoring

Skoda fabia in india: a test-drive based review.
Jan 08, 2008 12:38 PM 17607 Views

Yes!!!

I managed to drive the fabia after a few nice words and a few phone calls.

look nice with some very good curves and dinks in the right places. The waistline is curvy enough to give me a high. I go around gulping down the looks from almost every angle. Not that bad......

'photography is strictly prohibited.' I turn around and ask. 'But, can I??' They all smile with an unhappy nod of approval.

So, CLICK!!

It's definitely a spacy car. lots of space for a hatchback. dash is neatly finished. The seats are comfortable- and there is height adjustment too. Good!!!

the lady from the showroom points to a knob near the Ac controls. looks like a normal temperature control knob but I am told its the climate control thingy.

The rear seats too. Comfy!!! The legspace is better than Swift/Getz. made us feel comfortable.

The pedals all have a feeling of it's own. I like it. The engine pulls effortlessly and smoothly. The steering has it's own meaty feeling which is something absent in many small cars.

maybe I should ask skoda auto to employ me now. its time they realise I have been voluntarily talking about their car all the time.

Skoda Fabia-a big small delight.
Jan 07, 2008 12:20 PM 9320 Views

The new Skoda Fabia, the "largest" of all small cars, is one of the better things that has happened to men lately. A friend owns one and it's such a lovely-easy-fun car to drive. It makes those basic BMW drivers look very weak indeed on the motorway - and I am not kidding!!

The ride is firm but acceptably so. It handles well around corners. Acceleration through the gears is excellent with max torque around 4000rpm.

The boot is huge for a small car, so don’t worry about a big shop at the supermarket. 300 Litres of space to be exact!!

Plus the seats fold down too.

The new model again represents progress, in particular in the traditional values of the Skoda brand – spaciousness and value for money.

The serial accessories for this cleverly designed compact car include four airbags, ABS and electrical-hydraulic power steering. It has a lot of features that would cost extra on the Octavia, eg curtain airbags, cruise control, fog lights, rear parking sensors and digital climate control.

My car is metallic beige and the colour really suits it, especially as it looks like you have darkened windows when they are only standard windows. HAHA.
