I had a very bad experience with my 3 months old Thar. It caught fire in the middle of the road. Service compnay and Mahindra people are avoiding my complains. I had the most horrible experience with test driving the Thar. I was sent a red hardtop petrol automatic 4x4 variant from NBS showroom Chowpatty Mumbai. As I sat in the vehicle seat the car engine heating up warning came. I was told to shut the AC which I did. I moved ahead in drive mode and the car barely moved at 13 km/h, creating a line of traffic behind me. I had the foresight not to go down a slope or else I would never have been able to come up again. The car refused to move faster and was dragging, despite full acceleration. How could such a car be sent for a test drive? More importantly the car had driven just 18, 000 kms, which says it all about the quality of this vehicle! I owned a Mahindra Scorpio when it was first launched and I was very happy with it for 8 years. I would never buy the Thar with this experience and would discourage anyone else from buying on social media. So disappointing was my experience. This car is hugely overpriced for the kind of driving experience!

I had booked THAR on 2/1/22- Booking Ref. ID. a0Y2u000005LhNFEA0

However even after more than 2.5 months there was no change in status of my booking(order was not confirmed).So I had canceled the booking as I was not getting any updates from Mahindra.I am unable to understand why Mahindra is deducting 10% as cancellation charges even though they are not able to supply the product and confirm the booking

You should not take booking if you have such a long waiting or inform the customer while doing the booking. It is ethically wrong to penalize customer for no fault of his

High power engine, optimal gear ratios, borg warner transfer case, weight to power ratio.Very reliable, go anyewhere, never been to slush, in the 50000Km's ride 2% would be on very loose sandly beaches, 15% on heavy offroad and 25% on ghat roads and the rest on highways.

One of the best SUV in the market is mahindra Thar this car is ruff and tuff and have very powerfull engine of 2600cc .This car is also very good for offroading Hardtop are not fitted in this car from backside.Mileage of this car is less than other cars about 12 km/l.leg room of this car is very good the owner of mahindra thar ride proudle because thar is the best car in SuV's segiment.This car is soecially for offroading and tuff terrans.comfort level is less than other cars I suggest for those mahindra thar who forgive all comfort and mileage level.than you buy this car.this car is the monster car.

Hello dear friends

To be honest, thar is the best suv in indian market.It is competing with jeep compass which is 7times costly than this car.

The all new thar is powered by crde diesel engine of 2450cc and 104hp engine.

Seating capacity : it can accomodate 7 people

The new thar comes with the differential locking system.i can say its is the best off roader present in indain market.

The old classcic look of thar makes it more attractive and strong metal body makes it real beast.

More importanty you can modify this car upto an extreme extent.

In short thar is the real beast.

What I like:

• Retro Jeep styling. Butch design & image

• Solid combination of engine, gearbox & chassis

• Oodles of power & torque for effortless highway cruising

• Nippy power steering & zero turbo-lag make light work of driving in the city

• Comfortable ride quality. Stays compliant even on bad roads & jungle trails

• Manual 4x4 shift. Offroad competency will exceed needs of most owners

• A Jeep with warranty, parts & labour support from authorised service stations

what I dont like:

• Cheap, appalling interior quality. Fit, finish and rough edges are a let down

• Absence of lockable hardtop makes the Thar impractical for daily use

• Complicated front IFS has offroad limitations. Expensive to repair if damaged

• Driver ergonomics messed up ( pedal position, off-center steering etc.)

• Nervous steering feel over 100 kph 

• Limited potential for offroad modifications due to independent front suspension

• Highly priced

In cars I like only the Jeep's because it give good looking and good driving experience like off-road and going long tours it is completely different from other cars while we travelled from palli to pushkar in Rajasthan driving on the sandy Roads I enjoyed the gaming experience so smooth not getting any trouble while driving in the sand and I liked it's sound system it is fine and good music experience I have got through this jeep the interior design is good and give attractive looking of red colour of interior of sets the body is solid

I have been using this car in continuous work since 2013, but I have got a problem in this car at the time of service. My car has run 1 lakh and 85 thousand kilometers but still gives as much as average new There is a voice in a little body that asks my mahindra company to do a little bit of improvement and pace in new look so that more customers can join. I believe that this is India's largest. One of the best trains and for the village then there is a breathtaking train. The power of the engine is also cool

Amazing in off-roads. Hill station driving is super and comfortable. For long drive capacity. Overall very good experience with DI-powersteering.we can easily able to drive it long distance due to powerful diesel engine .bBut very poor mileage. I am a big fan of thar jeep. Adventure ride.Fuel capacity average.

I bought this car in 2016 from chandigarh as I liked the appearance of car too much.

Basically I bought car for my personal use and I have alternative vehicle also but after 6-7 months I noticed that car is not starting when I left car unused for approximately 1 month I thought that battery plugs might have got loose bu this was not the problem.

As I'm from Himachal pradesh so my village is located at hilly area where snowfall lasts for atleast 2-3months and after that I somehow managed to look up the problem with mechanic and he checked that if you will not use car within 5-6 days it will take time to start and this only happens in cold area in plain areas this problem is not at all.

Secondly, now there are coming cracks on chasis.

Now I feel like I wasted money rather I would have bought maruti jeepsy.

Mahindra Thar is one of the best offering from Mahindra and Mahindra group. It starts from just 6.18lakhs( ex showroom delhi) . It comes with 2498cc diesel engine that produces 105 bhp torque. The look and feel of this car is unbeatable. It gives you a good road presence and also its superb in offroading also. It claims a mileage of 16 kilometers per litre. NO other car in this price segment offers such durability and performance like mahindra thar.

CONS: Not add the future of AC, and Central Lock system/Open lock form back side door, for unlock back side door going to in-side for unlock
