Hyundai has tasted quite a bit of success with the launch of the Elite i20 in India and has now introduced a crossover based on this hatchback. The i20 Active is one amongst the horde of compact crossovers and SUVs in the Indian market. With the launch of this crossover, Hyundai plans to increase their market share and improve the domestic volumes.

Exterior

The crossover is based on the current Elite i20 which is the second generation version of the i20 in India. It shares the same platform but gets additional features making it look meatier and muscular in appearance. The new car also stays in line with the new fluidic design seen on all new Hyundai cars.

The wide but compact air intake with mesh design, the revised grille in the front bumper with restyled fog lamps and sweptback projector head lights have been carried over to the new car from the i20 hatchback. The company has given the i20 Active a body cladding while bringing in a new design for the alloy wheels and roof rails. There is also a silver skid plate at the back and a new bumper with circular reflectors. The newly designed tail lamps have been carried over with the addition of the tail-gate mounted spare wheel at the back of the car.

Interior

Apart from these visual upgrades, the 2015 Hyundai i20 Active features a slightly updated cabin. The i20 Active's cabin is different from the standard i20 hatchback interior. The interior looks funky with colour-coded pinstripe and dashboard accents. The updates in the car come in the form of two dual-shade interior options - tangerine orange and aqua blue combined with black. Other changes to the interior include new upholstery, aluminium-coated pedals and partly coloured gear-knob.

Otherwise, the cabin of the crossover is similar to the one in the Elite i20. Hyundai has borrowed the new instrument panel with gear shift indicator and three-spoke steering wheel with integrated audio and Bluetooth controls from the hatchback. The layout is the same, but the company has differentiated the interior with a sporty look. Like the feature-rich i20 hatchback, the i20 Active is packed with many features like height adjustable driver’s seat, cooled glove-box, 2-Din audio system with 1 GB internal memory, climate control system, cruise control, a second power outlet, reverse parking assist, clutch lock etc.

Engine and gearbox

Hyundai has powered the i20 Active with the same engine options, 1.2-litre Kappa petrol and 1.4-litre CRDi diesel, which power the i20 hatchback. While the 1.2-litre petrol motor churns out 82bhp of power and 114Nm of torque, the 1.4-litre diesel mill produces 89bhp of power and 220Nm of torque. The former comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, while the latter comes paired to a six-speed manual gearbox. ABS with EBD has been introduced as standard fitment with the model year 2016.

Price and competition

The Hyundai i20 Active competes with the Volkswagen Cross Polo, the Toyota Etios Cross and the Fiat Avventura in the Indian market. With the introduction of this new car, Indian consumers have got another option to choose from in the new compact crossover segment in our country.

One month back my father buys this car. i20 Active 1.2 SX. this car has much space than i20. 4-5 people can easily sit in the car comfortably. within 5 days the dealer delivered the car after booking i20 Active. fuel consumption is Awesome For us if we buy diesel, we can get more mileage than petrol. The car is very comfortable as the seats are very soft and fluffy. I and my family are very satisfied with this car and love to drive again and again. And Looks what we say about that Hyundai cars are always classy and their looks beats every car perfect design body of i20 Active and overall Satisfied.

Hyundai i20 Active is really an amazing car with almost all the facilities that come with all the high class cars in the present time. First, if we see the inside of the i20 Active, we will see that the there is an classy feel to be inside the car. The front seats come with the facilities of bending and moving forward and backward. Back seats also can be bended forward and backward. The inside of this car is very spacious which does not create any problem even for a family with 6 members. The A/C is very comfortable with rear vents for the rear passengers. Now, If we come to the dashboard of i20 active, it gives an aristocratic feel when we sit inside. The power steering also is very smooth, the height of which can be adjusted according to the driver's comfort. The music system of the car gives such a great surrounding sound that makes us feel like we are in a sound studio. The gear box also is very smooth that helps a smooth drive in cities, accompanied by a camera for reverse gear. Second, The agents working in the Hyundai dealers are very responsible and well behaved. Next, When we come to the fuel consumption of this car, it gives 17 km/ltr in the petrol version which is very economic for all. This car gives a heavenly feel when you sit inside the car. There is very less jerking even when you are driving in a very rocky road. There is no vibrations at all even when you drive up to 160 km/hr. The corning and projector type headlamps of the car give you a best experience of driving at night. The corner lamps lights up automatically when you take a turn to help you drive more comfortably. The i20 active is a car on which you can totally rely. Moreover, the car also comes with roof rails, which makes the car more attractive. The LED lamps below the head lamps which automatically turns on when you start the engine gives an attractive look to the car. This is the car I was looking for all my life. It is the car with compact and deluxe features like any top notch Hyundai car ( well this coming from a loyalist) . This car boasts of The most economic engine in this segment which 18kmpl in any road. The one down point that I noticed is that its price.

Hyundai i20 is a nice car but not in a price range .If you talk about price its price is very high. In this price range you can purchase a SUV car .If you are investing much money for this car then I will recomend that you can go for a SUV car not for this.

This car has a factor of high price.

The space inside is good but not execellent if you compare to the TATA cars and their price is also very low.

Dealer satisfaction is not so much good if you talk about after sales and service.

Fuel comsumption is average because this car is in the deisel varient.

The comfort level is good not excellent.

The car is reliable but not as much as I think about .

I bought this car 2 months ago. And I am loving it. I am reallt very happy with my experience.

Looks- Looks of i20 active are pretty amazing. Its very sporty as compared to i20 elite.

Performance- It gives you a very premium feel while driving. Comfort is 10/10. Such smooth shifting of gears. And handling is very soft.

Fuel economy- It gives you a decent average of 20-22 km/l.

Features- The S varient comes with all required features such as Parking sensor and camera. Sterring mounted controls.

I must say its a great car as compared to virara breeza and S-cross.

I owned this car for looks and style and mainly the head light that projector lamp was looks extraodinary so I was confused at first in buying the crossover cars at that time there are other cars like toyotata etios cross, ecosports, aventurra and others but in the style i20 active the best car for the style lovers

Hyundai create beautiful cum suv, it is same segment as hyundai elite i20, and i20 active. i20 Active borrows its 1.2 l petrol and 1.4 l diesel engines from the Elite i20 with no change whatsoever to their power and torque outputs. During the preview drive in Goa, we got to experience the diesel i20 Active, which delivers a peak power of about 89 hp and a maximum torque of 220 Nm.1.4 CRDI unit is smooth and refined, suspension has been raised by 20 mm to offer a ground clearance of 190 mm. thats the good news. so basically changes are made on exteriors.roof rails look appropriately styled, while the fuel cap has been redesigned to offer a unique look. The other noticeable change in the exterior is the 16-inch alloy wheels. in interior, it is same as elite i20. but it is unique and stylish.

I took i20 active sx diesel four months back. I am very much satisfied with i20 active. Its powerful and premium too. i20 active is future load car. The interior is so spacious & premium feel. Exterior looks sporty & feel like macho. I drive this Bangalore to Hyderabad, I haven't felt tired. It's good to drive in city & highway too. But, EBD & leather seat is missing.

It is one of the finest hatchbacks in this segment, be it exterior, interior, features or performance. Its exterior is a well-designed stylish piece of engineering. Interior is equally attractive as its exterior. Seats are comfortable and use good fabric upholstery while giving enough space with the enough legroom. As far as features are concerned it is loaded with required safety features for a trouble free ride. and I ran my car in very bad roads and best highways both, excellent experience, and mind blowing average can you believe its 30 km per litre on highway and 24 in city, but yes I drive as per norms. It gives good handling and smooth performance even on busiest roads.

This car is awesome.This is a family member.We bought it.5month ago.some specification is that good design like luxury, perfect interior, alot of space.awesome pickup I reached 160kmh in just 15.6sec. i20 active colour specially Red with silver. Don't buy dark colour car because dark colours can absorb heat as summer season your car become a heater. i20 active ac is cool but it takes time for cooling. Alloy wheels is better for your car provided by Company.I LOVE IT VERY MUCH.

This car is comfortable.  It will make ur family complete. The person driving feels easy . Gear is easy to change fast . And colour of the car make it more hotter.

Hyundai i20 Active as a package price is a bit high but it provides some more. Higher ground clearance, better features and most importantly look good.

Hyundai i20 is designed Fludik 2.0. Stkoniy forged in the front of the car, daytime running lamps and LED lamps, projectors with front bumper with two colors there is an air dam.

Hyundai i20 Active main features of the integrated 2-DIN 8-speaker music system, auto light control, tilt and telescopic steering function and Had lamp Escort(going back and forth, up and down), among others.

Exterior poor rubber fitting came out after 7 month.not expected from a hyundai. As many say hyundai has it blue and black interious look outdated no petrol sx model no avg fuel consumption.

Boot space could be more

Suspension is not very good .feeling an jerk on uneven roads.need to improve exterior lookwise very well done by hyundai body desine center at germany
