Ford Fiesta Reviews

Fiesta 1.6 S.
Jun 23, 2008 05:41 PM 8009 Views

Ford's new Fiesta 1.6 S is a new Sports version of the earlier models. The Ebony and Jasper blue interiors are a treat to the eyes. Its audio system is compatible with mp3 players including port for external devices like the I pod. Its 1.6L engine has marked the end of fiesta's earlier 1.4L engines. The 101 PS engine gives it a lovely pickup of 0-100 in around 10 seconds.

Of course everyone must have heard about the flamboyant 15 inch alloys and spoilers of this mean machine. Its safety features include  braking systems like the ABS and EBD Systems and advanced child locking facilities that assures complete family security. Ford's known for its fuel efficiency and lets keep our fingers crossed for it to continue with such performance.  This is something that should give Ford an edge over the other Indian sedans in its price segment. Great job guys.

Ford Fiesta 1.6s - Go Fida!!
Jun 23, 2008 03:39 PM 8375 Views

Michael Boneham, Ford India's new Managing Director and President was all proud and cheerful at the launch of the new Ford Fiesta 1.6S. In an eye -catching Jasper and Aquarius blue colour,  this car looks phenomenal. Its 15 inch alloys, aerodynamic spoilers, chrome tipped exhaust and honey-comb upper and lower front grills is a tribute to its sporting heritage.

The inclusion of stiffer springs and the tuning of its suspension, shows that Ford has worked extensively on its suspension setup. Its 100 BHP engine enables it to go from a 0-100 in 11.43 seconds. As far as safety is concerned, its equipped with ABS and EBD braking systems and dual SRS bags which ensure complete passenger safety.

This model is available only in petrol at 7.15 lakhs which for a Ford, I reckon is very apt. Ford’s endeavor to revolutionize India’s sedan market with this handsome machine deserves two thumbs up.

Bhagat Ford - Chandigarh.......Beware !
Jun 07, 2008 07:25 PM 8798 Views

It is very astonishing to know how dealers take lead of (*) shown in advertisements. Ford India came up with an offer of 7.5 % rate of Interest OR accessories worth Rs 25000/- on Ford Fiesta about a few months back. After a brief survey of almost three months about all latest available cars in mid-segment, I made my mind for Ford Fiesta.

I contacted Bhagat Ford Chandigarh in the month of February and enquired about the offer which is absolutely confirmed by dealer. Being in army I was purchasing this car through Canteen stores department so I prepared requisite documents and did all legal formalities and well informed the dealer about the expected date and time of taking delivery of the car which was again confirmed by dealer. BUT……  my nightmare starts on the day of delivery.

Firstly dealer refused to give me advertised rate of interest , then  he got agree for  putting accessories worth  of  Rs 10000/ to 15000/- in the car. Secondly he made us (family) sit in his showroom for almost  five hours in spite of telling him that we have to go almost 200 KM from this place he gave the delivery at 1800hr. Thirdly he said that one of the accessory is not available so it can be fitted once it is available. So we were back to our home with a bad, unimagined   & unfortunate series of events which we were not expecting from such a big dealer.

Ford 1.4Exi Go Fida
May 26, 2008 12:38 PM 7893 Views

I have driven ford fiesta now for 2500 kms and can write reasonable review here. I have 1.4 exi petrol

This may prove useful for those who are planning to buy a new ford fiesta.

What I have liked:-

a) The spaciousness in the car. it is comfortable for a tall person like me with enough leg space as the steer wheel can be lifted up and down.

b) Duo tone interior is pleasant to the eyes and provides rich feel to the car

c) Mileage so far is 11.5kms in city. am sure should improve post servicing.

vis-a-vis city not so great but u pay rs.1.2 lacs less than city and if  u do break even analysis it takes 70-80k kms to break even for fuel efficiency had u bought a honda city.

Well in 5 years I would have driven 70km and would get bored and may sell of the car so bought a ford fiesta to a city

Mileage obtained due to

  • 70% AC drive 30% non ac drive when car was in speed below 40kms

  • shut off the vehicle at traffic signals of more than 30 secs

  • speed below 80-90 kms. drive at higher speeds and mileage will go down.

d) the AC is powerful and in Mumbai heat cools the car well.

what I dont like

a) gear shift is a problem from 2nd to 3rd many a times. it doesnt go smoothly and I have to push it not sure if others have faced it

b) the fuel indicator has a problem. I had indica before which had a similar problem. did nt expect it to be there in ford fiesta.

even though fuel tank may be 80% full (20% empty) it would show as 25% empty. and when I stop the indicator would come back to 20% empty.

This would also put effect on DTE distance to empty- some time it would show 340 kms (once 100 kms are done) and then would show 400kms and in next 10 mins would again come down to 380kms.

I face this problem that it shows lowest DTE when I start car in the morning- once I am standing at signal it tries to come back to normal DTE.

but I am surprised why Fuel tank indicator and DTE should fluctuate so much.

c) I faced incident twice of fan belt not shutting even after ignition switched off. I got mail from Ford support saying nothing is wrong with vehicle and some time when fan belt is in high speed it takes time to shut off even after ignition switch off.

No comments on servicing as I have yet to go for my first service. more comments post the first service

Ford Fiesta 1.4D ZXi Ownership Woes

Ford Fiesta 1.4D ZXi

Silver stone

June 2006

The car was supposed to be delivered with a leather steering wheel(to be provided by the dealer). Imagine my shock on delivery date, when I see that my car came fitted with a non-leather steering wheel. After 3 weeks of telephonic discussions, Ford finally got the leather steering wheel fitted . This small incident was only the start of my “Go Fida” experience.

September 2006

  • Air Conditioner stops cooling .

  • The car overheats when the AC is turned on .

  • Takes shaman ford one day to diagnose

  • They replace the radiator fan assembly and circuit breaker .

All this on a car that is only 4 months old!

November 2006

  • Suspension starts making loud noises. Shaman finds the right rear shocks faulty, and replaces them.

December 2006

  • Noise resurfaces. Shaman replaces left rear shocks.

June 2007

  • The fuel injector becomes noisy

  • Fuel injector problem detected during improved air duct fitment at shaman .

  • 1 injector bush is replaced

July 2007

  • Another injector bush is replaced

July 2007

  • Going by the number of replacements in one year, I thought it wise to opt for extended warranty. Pay Ford Rs. 9250 for Fiesta Extended warranty plan(21-07-07 until 20-06-09)

September 2007

  • Once again, the air conditioner stops cooling .

  • The car begins to overheat when the AC is turned on .

  • Takes shaman ford one day to diagnose

  • They replace the radiator fan, assembly and a circuit breaker . AGAIN!

December 2007

  • Reverse lights stop working

  • Reverse light switch is replaced under warranty during 40000 km service

January 2008

  • 2 more fuel injector bushes are replaced by shaman

  • Air conditioning cooling becomes weak.

  • Under acceleration, there is a metallic noise from the engine compartment

  • Leak in the Exhaust Gas Recirculation(EGR) Valve is found

  • Takes around 7 days for shaman to get the part from Chennai .

January 2008

  • One morning, the driver discovers a pool of diesel under the Fiesta. We realize that the car is leaking diesel only when the engine is running. Shaman diagnoses the problem to an ill-fitted bush. It is fixed back with Teflon tape!(picture's attached)

February 2008

By now, the car is pretty unreliable and no one from the family is ready to take it as a highway companion.

I request Mr. Piyush Harsora to get someone from Ford to check the car and make sure there are no defects or problems with car . Car is sent to Shaman Ford Workshop Lalbaug in the morning and checked by Mr S. K. Agarwal . He is the Regional Service Manager for Ford India . He finds the car to be perfectly fine . Car returned in the evening .

February 2008

  • Once again, the air conditioner stops working . This time it is the A/c evaporator and cooling coils that are found to be defective. After a lot of insistence, the part is replaced and the car returned back to me at 2100hrs on the same day . Dashboard is not fitted back properly . Also Horn cover on steering wheel is loose .

April 2008

  • A lot of injector and valves clatter coming from the engine

  • All injector related washers and bushes are replaced by shaman

May 2008

We find a pool of diesel under the car again! I get in touch with Mr Piyush Harsora of Shaman, who sends a Mr Parsuram to check if the leakage is diesel. Mr. Parsuram confirms it is Diesel No follow up from Shaman or ford. Call up Mr Piyush Harsora on Wednesday 08-05-2008, to be told that he has spoken to the Ford Regional office and they are handling the matter.

Call up Mr S.K Agarwal from FORD on Friday(09-05-2008) and am told that replacement engine head will only be with them by Monday(12-05-2008). He has no answer as too why I was not kept informed about the matter and why I have to be the one chasing them for information.

Agrees to provide a loaner car and extend warranty till 2010 . Existing extended warranty runs out in 2009 so they are only offering 1 year more which is worth Rs 5000 .

In a nut shell

Cost of spares replaced and to be replaced under warranty:- Rs 108, 222(including cost of engine head).

Is this what we have to expect of a Ford Fiesta that isn’t even 2 years old? This is shabbier quality than an Ambassador. Why are we paying premium money for a small sedan, when it requires so many visits to the garage.

I never get feedback from Ford or from Shaman. Only after chasing them innumerable times does someone get back to me.

Diesel leakage is a major problem and a safety hazard too! Who is to blame if the car catches fire, or worse still, with occupants inside? Ford really doesn’t care a damn .They should have gotten the engine and electrical system thoroughly checked the first time itself .

They are behaving as if they are doing me a favor by rectify their mistakes . I was told that I should be happy with one years extended warranty as they do not normally do this and that it is will cost Ford a lot of money!

The most humorous part is: I received this SMS from Ford a couple of days back “Dear Fiesta Owner, refer a friend to buy a Ford Fiesta by 31 May 08 and get a Rs.10, 000 Gift voucher from Tanishq. SMS SUPER to 56263 today.”

Great Looks on the road. Drive and handling is very smooth. and has a sturdy feeling Pleasure to drive in Highway, easily touches 100 KM/H. Milage around 11-12 in city and 14-15 in Highway.

But at times it feel 1.4 power could be bit less for some real josh but this get compensated with good milage for the mid sedan. I feel it's value for money. As  the other care in this segment seem to be around a lakh or more expensive.

The pertol engine is  smooth and does not make at noise.

On bumpy road the car does make quite a vibration and this could be improved . In the uphill, one feel the need of some more power

Fiesta / SX4/ CITY ZX- which is best???
Apr 21, 2008 12:49 PM 10710 Views

I am planning to buy one of the above three cars, my upper limit is Rs 8L on road.

During the test drives I was impressed max by the Fiesta but my friends and almost everyone is skeptical about the "Ford" tag, due to their so called bad service, spare part costs. How much is this true??

For City ZX GXi I feel at Rs 7.50L they are giving a bare car with almost no features compared to the Fiesta SXi which is giving leather seats, 2 DIN 6CD changer player, ABS, airbags & an accessories package of 18K at almost the same price.

As far as SX4 is concerned I was not impressed by its design or mileage( 11 kmpl, which is bound to be much less!!). but people swear by its service, spare parts availability (given the Maruti tag).

Please everyone help me with this dilemma as I am extreme reviews about every car.

Ford Fiesta Zxi 1.6 , 2008 Petrol Jeans Blue color
Mar 18, 2008 01:43 PM 9341 Views

Ford Fiesta Zxi 1.6 Petrol is an excellent car, which comes with March Masti package from Ford.

Now we can get fog lamps, spoiler, mp3 player and matts etc at free of cost if you buy car in March 2008. I like the'Kilometers to go'  feature in this car. It is giving 11.5 to 12 km with AC in city drive. Dealer informed that after 1st service the mileage will increase further. Petrol engine is NO NOISE. Dead silence engine. At arond 1200 rpm car will be going at 70 km speed, and you never know until you see the speedometer. Very smooth driving, swing like a boat in crowd. suspensers are very good. It will suppress midium level road bumps and we never feel that driving on bumps.

In car AC is excellent, we may not be able to run on 2 setting for long time, as it makes very cool inside the car. Cooling is very effective. Within 3 - 5 minutes you feel the whole car is cool inside when you switch on AC. Speed pickup is great and breaks are very good. Easy to control the speed when needed.

Streeing control too make you confortable while driving. we can drive this car exactly how we want to drive. 100% precision driving occuracy is possible with this car. Very good visibility of front and makes confort while driving in city crowd. I have opted for back parking sensors, which make more more confort while parking at city malls at cellar parking. it will show exactly howmuch distance you have behind car in meters.

The only thing we miss in this model is airbag. It would have been great if Ford add that too.

Cost is little bit high compare to other cars of similar type.

If you are thinking to buy Ford fiesta, this is the month which brings more value for your money.

Enjoy the driving of Ford Fiesta - its drivers car.

Thank you

Good Family Car ...
Mar 11, 2008 11:58 AM 9144 Views

I am a proud owner of the ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCi ZXI ...this is my second car which replaced my my IKON zxi 1.6 ..cant compare ...

Well the car build quality is little too less ...i had taken this car about 4 months nad driven about 2000 kms ..trust me the side door pads have started to ruttle ...the right front fender has started to shake and the body feel is flimsy ..the ikon ZXI which I drove 75000km for 6.5 years guys I tell you no noice what so ever and built quality was amazing ...any way ..the seating comfort is best for 4 adults 5th one is little cramped the back head rest when down maken back seater uncomfortable .....Noicy engine ...Ok cool guys a lot negatives ...there are goodies as well..

Engine has a smooth acceleration ...excellent millage @ 18KMPL in chennai city roads ..breaking is good ..good styling ..excellent boot space ..the rear looks superp ...The drive quality is good for a family drive ...not fit for racing ...things little worry me is the suspension is it is too stif on a single drive but when fully loaded it is the  best floats over pot holes ...Turning radius is excellent you dont have to keep going back and forth in stiff corners ..

I had driven 2000 kms I must say it has been behaving good ...Road grip is good may be because I had changed the tyres to 185/65 with alloys ...engines is little noisy at the low end but cools down at high speeds ...A/C is excellent chills at no time ..dash takes to the good old days of 60 with analogue ...

Little higher on pricing ...must have ABS & Air bags as well

Ford engineers please rework on suspension ....

Great family car to drive with your spouse on the side and child at the rear with melody from your indeck car audio down the hill side ....

Ford Fiesta 1.6 - Go Fida but at what cost?
Mar 10, 2008 08:43 PM 9661 Views

Ford Fiesta 1.6 SXi - decided to buy this vehicle after long deliberations. Had owned a Ford Ikon earlier so felt like trying another Ford product. It was great to Go Fida! But I did pay a heavy price.

The 1st time I drove the Fiesta I was floored. Superb dynamics, great acceleration, the roaring growl of the engine, everything felt so good! So the heart ruled the head and we went ahead and bought it!

Now lets talk about the overall experience. Giving good fuel efficiency was never Fiesta's forte so mileage is not very noteworthy. 9 to 10 kms/ltr if you drive sedately. Induce a little josh and it may go below 8 kms/ltr to almost 7 kms/ltr and that's pathetic.

But you just cannot drive the Fiesta 1.6 slow or sedately! The noise of the engine is great to hear, the pick up, the handling, the road manners are in a class of its own. Truly a drivers car but all this comes at a very high price!

The body shell is tough and is built to last. Incase of accident replacing body panels is expensive. The another way to keep up the mileage figures is to get the injectors cleaned regularly, replace the air, oil & fuel filters every 2000 kms! Do not wait for the stupulated service durations for doing this.

Cost of spares - Service parts are still higher compared to other cars in this class but they are lower than the other josh machine- the Ford Ikon. The car is high on maintainence.

So the Fiesta 1.6 is fairly reliable and great to drive. Buy it. You will not regret the experience.

But if you are truly concerned about mileage, cost of ownership, servicing, spares just keep away from it.

Our Fiesta has clocked 16, 000 kms & now is the time to say goodbye to this roaring lion!

My wife is certainly happy! & we have already started saving money!

Ford Fiesta 1.4 ZXi (Diesel) TDCi
Feb 28, 2008 07:55 PM 32225 Views

I brought Ford Fiesta 1.4 ZXi(TDCi – Diesel) during Diwali(Nov 2007). It’s been around 4 months and have clocked 8, 000 KM till now. Thought it is a good time to review.

Selection of the Car:

This is my first Car in India(I did own a Renault 2.0 Laguna, Rover 414 while working abroad in UK). My priorities were that  I wanted a decent sized car with good mileage and driving comfort.  Power was not my priority as it is not at all required on Hyderabad Roads.

I did a test drive of Honda City, Verna, Fusion, Indigo and Fiesta. I liked Fiesta because of the smooth drive, driving control and the promised Mileage. Verna for some reason did not appear that roomy as the stats say.

*My Experience with the Car:

Bad things first

Ground Clearance:  Considering our roads, Ford should either put taller wheels or do something else to increase the ground clearance. Though we also have to blame the government of India for not regulating the size of speed breakers( I bet only Trucks will be able to go over these speed breakers). Though it did not cause any issue,   still I would like to avoid “thumps” at the bottom of the Car when we go through uneven roads or mountain high Speed breakers

A/C Vents:  **Though the A/C itself is powerful, the placement of vents especially the bottom ones should be adjusted. I cannot feel the A/C   on my feet(when I am driving) unless I engage the pedals(The vent is too deep in there J)

Airbags:**   Not sure how effective the airbags  will be, but still Ford should include  them considering the safety of their customers.  These things just give us a bit more comfort that we are driving a safe car.

Interiors**: I would have been more happy if the dashboard had a clock and the lighter/charger slow   is placed somewhere more accessible. It’s too deep!

*Now Coming to Good things

Maintenance: **I have driven 8K and have not spent anything else on the Car

Mileage:Driving in Hyderabad City I get around 18-19KMPL(I should also admit that I am not a saint, so I drive soberly / erratically depending on the   road/fellow drivers – The mileage is average of combination of both).

Maneuverability:I should say this is top class; the car picks up your steering movements accurately.  Whether you are driving at top speeds at 100+ or cornering at 60+   you will have the confidence that the car can take it with ease.

Engine Performance: The 1.4 liter Diesel is a nimble/silent engine. Though you might not get that “vroooom” feeling but the car will not let you down anytime. Once the turbo-charged kicks in(I think around 1500+ RPM) you can feel the power.  I did drive through some of hilly localities around Hyderabad – it could handle all of them without any problem.  When you drive the car at around 60/70 KMPH, you will really enjoy how siltenly the car carries.

A/C:AC is quite powerful and have never observed any drag on the engine when I use the AC.

Gear Box:Gear Shift is always smooth and firm. Definite plus point as there is no “nudgy” feeling – it always goes to the block you want to put the gear in.

Interiors: The interiors  are good  and definitely you will not feel it is cheap plastic(as I saw in Tata Indigo).  The controls are neatly placed and are easily accessible(except the one I mentioned in the bad things).

I am quite happy with the car and would recommend this car to anyone who is looking for a priority(in the order)   Mileage, Control, looks and comfort.

Power wise, it will definitely have the initial lag but will not let you down on a longer stretch of the road.

Cheers.

Advantage Fiesta

Handling Best in class handling even at top speeds of 150 km ++

car is in complete control. better than Honda city, Verna, SX4, Toyota Innova.

Engine & GearboxBest pickup excellent engine no vibrations Silky smooth. u need to check rpm needle to be sure its running.excellent gearbox.gear changing is fast and easy.

*Mileage City 12.5Km highway 16 Km depends on driving style

*power steering very accurate and very light.u can aim at a pin on road and won't miss.

headlamps and wipers great.

*Disadvantages & Missing safety features

*No Anti lock Brakes (latest jan 08 model has ABS optionI Heardnow)

No Airbags(latest jan 08 provided with it for driver only)

No Rear screen defogger heat element.(in base version of car Exi)

I feel Indian Govt should make these features Madatory on all cars.

Alloys and 15 inch wheels . would be a happy addition.

Ride quality Poor for a Car in this Class.

even my 4 year old used Indica costing half the price of Fiesta rides Much Better than my New Ford.great engineering by Tata.

Lots of Bumps and Noises felt inside Car on rough roads. all fiesta same design issue.

Bumps Vibrations travel to felt on steering wheel too.

own ford fiesta 1.4 exi petrol, 40000 Km

Generic issues it has are 1. throttle body problem.. 2 . radiator fan problem

a yellow light engine management fault will come on during cold start more at rainy season more so .. engine will refuse to respond to accelaration and will not go beyond 1000 rpm.. restarting car after 1 or 2 minutes usually solves the yellow light..

cleaning throttle body with WD40 also cleans contacts but for a year or so has to be done again...

it is generic problem on ford fiestas throttle position sensor gets corroded and its computer generates error code .. cost to replace 7000 Rs.

Those who do not believe google it...ford fiesta throttle body problem

another generic problem on fiesta & also figos also its Cooling fan bearing goes out causing engine to heat usually within 20000 Km and starts to vibrate no way to repair maintain u need to change cost 8000 Rs as it it is sealed packed....

. Maintain car regularly serviced from sc ford apart from these generic problems did not face any issues with car run 40000 km car still going like new.. touch wood

did not change any parts than a wiper blade one headlight bulb , engine is just like showroom gives average of 12km/L

ford should solve generic issues before launching car in India that is only complaint otherwise a great product

for those doubting review chk with any mechanic also can give live demo of these issues or inquire at a ford service center

Ford fiesta 1.6.

I do not own a fiesta, but my friend has it and I take it every now and then for Ooty.  I own a swift ZXI and I keep Fiesta as my first wishlist.

Theme

One great car below 10 Lakh category for driving pleasure.

Advantages

Punchy engine - No car can come near by, press the acc pedal and you are on for the race

Excellent fuel consumption in its category- Driving pleasure with less pinch in your pocket

Good comfort - Most bumps soaked up easily

Stability and Handling - Be it on hills or plains, it cruises with confidence. Infact, even scary mind will enjoy.

Good good clearance like small car - No worry like Honda city.

Latest model comes with 2 years warranty - Atlast ford understood some part of indian customers.

A few minor disadvantages(Many 1st time customers will look only for equipments rather than the punchy engine or stability. I think that's how Aveo has a few customers)

No MP3 player provided - The forthcoming Swift Zxi will have a integrated MP3 stereo and steering controlled volume button.

No alloy wheels provided for 8 lakh budget - Suzuki provides the same

Stingy to provide only 1 airbag in the latest version - Come on Ford, we are no driving a small car to be soo stingy.

ABS to be made option on all models(Including Fusion) for a nominal amount - Please treat Indians also on par with other countries. Insist on safety

Improvements which can be made:

Services and dealership experience to be improved as I found it's not upto the mark compared to Suzuki.

Get a good review or award towards customer satisfaction.

Loosing 1 customer is loosing 10, but gaining 1 customer may be bringing in only 3 or less.

Please reduce the spare parts/accessories price so that outmarketed fittings are thrown away.

Be a volume player to garner your pie of cake

POOR SERVICE BY SOUTH CITY FORD NOIDA

I bought Fiesta(Diesel) ZXI from South city ford NOIDA. The service we got from them was really very bad & when I made a complaint against them no action was taken even complaint was sent to the Head office of south city ford which is in mathura road.

No body cares there for customer service. Manager eating sandwiches in office but no caring what's happening outside and when I complaint he said its a long process sir you have to wait this line he said when I was taking delivery . delivery took 4 hours. even though the Naariyal and Thali was given by the cleaner not by the Manager………….

on my complaint no action was taken and when I complaint again they say its a busy season going on we'll take your compliants later….

Please put as many suggestions on this blog so that company see what they are doing and teach there staff  “CUSTOMER IS IMPORTANT”  what they forgot.

We have purchased Ford Fiesta CRDi   in feb 2006, the mileage of the car is good, its comfortable, the inside space is good enough, the interior of the car is nice  but there are some drawback of this car.

1)A.C is very troublesome, we have to send it to service centers in every 3 months.

2) Battery of the car is made by ford and is of very bad quality, we have to replace it within a year.

3) Front tyres are getting flat with correct allinment

4) Spear Parts are not available in the market, even service centers takes time.

5) There is only one service center in kolkata and whatever estimate they give, you have to agree on that.

6)some basic features are less

Initial ownership experience - Fiesta zxi 1.4 tdci

Bought the 1.4 TDCi in Dec 2007 after test driving Verna CRDI, Logan diesel, Corolla and Honda City. I have had prior experience in driving an Innova diesel, and Santro.

I loved the suspension and seat comfort in the corolla, but dropped it since it was a petrol car. But the space in the corolla was extremely good. It acclerates well, although you tend to feel it perhaps has a mind of its own; verna which has comparable power takes off like a rocket, while in the corolla there is something controlling it and preventing the rocket like take off. Perhaps good from the point of view of safety. If you dont mind the petrol costs, then go for it.

The Honda City felt similar to corolla, very noiseless engine, smooth, decent power, though not as much as the corolla, and a bit spongy in acclerating. The insides are good too, but materials are very delicate, and the car is light too. The suspension does not feel solid. Need to handle this car like a baby.

The Logan was tacky inside, and seemed built to a cost, but the drive was not bad. It was certainly noisy, the suspension was good and took the undulations of the road well. But I could not drive it on bad roads. When I opened the boot, I saw nuts and bolts sticking out, and no insulation material at all. But the sheet metal seems strong and solid. Felt very safe - like sitting in a patton tank. The space inside is massive, can easily seat 3 ppl behind. Seats are big and comfy, but could do with some contours. I found the car cost and mileage great value for money.  However, I was not sure of the future of the JV renault-M&M, and hence dropped the idea after much deliberation.  To be honest, I was also worried a bit about my image that I would portray.

The Verna had amazing pick up after a brief turbo lag, the drive was exhilarating, but I found it a bit unsteady at speeds above 130/140 kmph. The suspension was okay too, and the seats were good - The rear seat was bit hard. However, I felt it was like driving a bigger/more powerful santro. The clutch and gear changing mechanism, and unsteady nature at high speeds felt similar. To manage the car at low speeds in heavy traffic would involve a lot of clutch/break activity, just to control it within the 0-20 km speeds. Although the Fiesta was not in my buying list, I just decided to test drive it, and found the experience great. ( I test drove verna twice, and the fiesta thrice.just to be sure I felt the sameevery time). The suspension is amongst the best, minimum body roll, takes up jelly stone roads and rough roads very well, cornering/handling is great, and it is a great drivers car. On paper it gives only 68 bhp, but does not feel underpowered. It moves well in city at slow speeds, without jerks, and can reach 140 kmph on highway(it is rock steady, can even do some high speed manouveres at 80+ kmph - handles beautifully), although a bit slow in acclerating. Most city driving can be done very smoothly in the 1000-2000 rpm range. For overtaking, you need to work the gears a bit, and get into lower gears and into the 3000 rpm range. But this is not  great problem, since the gear change mechanism is quick and precise. The engine is refined and sweet, although I found some noise above 3500 rpm(which I found in the innova too). Mileage is great so far - 15+ km/ltr with A/c in city.  Although  interior space is few cms less than verna, the seats are more comfortable. The rear seats are softer too. The headrests are the best, and offer best neck/head support.  The boot is certainly bigger than the verna. Hence I think iFiesta TDCi  is great value for money; Verna is more expensive, and you would not get all of the features you get in the ford. In the verna, you probably surely nee the ABS to stop the car without skidding/locking the brakes, so it all totals to an extra Rs 70K to 90K. Besides, for me I thought, I would never fully use the 110 bhp of the verna, hence settled for the ford fiesta. However, there are some irritants such as little noises here and there, which need to be set right. Cauvery Frd in bangalore did set right a minor problem with the clutch, by bleeding it. It is fine now. Later I need to check if they can respond well to the rattling noise from the door pads. The Innova never had such issues; the santro did have some such issues, but the hyundai guys are adept at detecting it and setting it right. Hope the same holds true for Ford.

1/feb: After 2000+ km: The car is much smoother, with mileage up to 17+ km/ltr, I am not getting the noise above 3500 rpm that I mentioned before. It is easily able to touch and maintain speeds of 150+ kmph on NICE road in bangalore. It is in its elements on curvy roads with bends.  That is where the top class handling of the fiesta at high speeds impresses. Only, while overtaking, dont get caught in the 800 to 1500 rpm range; make sure you are above 2000 rpm while overtaking; one should have absolutely no problems. Iguess this holds true for most diesel vehicles. In city traffic, just pop it to 1st gear and it can potter along at

5km/hr, no need to strain legs with ABC(acclerator/brake/clutch). Cauvery Ford has managed to set right niggling problems like rattling noise from the door panels etc. So. as of today, I'm quite please.

I have a Ford Fiesta 1.4 Petrol , I test drove the Diesel Version having owned a Indica ealier , I found the Ford Fiesta Diesel version to be a great , unfortunately I could not afford it.

I have found the vehicle to be very smooth , my Friends from US who owns a Camry appreciated the engine silence in the car.

The vehicle road grip is excellent and the balance is great. This is for the all Maruthi Alto lovers , my spouse has a brand new Maruthi Alto , when I drive a Alto I feel that I am going to skid off the Road . Dont forget the On Road price for an Maruthi Alto is 3.75 Lakhs in Bangalore.

When you sit in the Car , the view is much compared to Honda City , Hyundai Elantra. Getting in and Getting out of the Vehicle for the driver is very comfortable compared to honda city and elantra.

Cauvery Ford as a dealer was very professional , they remind me on service due date , even though the workshop is 25 KMS away from my residence they come home and collect the vehicle. I have a Ford Dealer within 10 KMS from my residence , I found no need to change my dealer.

If you are not a brand crazy car lover , Ford Fiesta 1.4 Petrol is a good value for money car.

Buying a new car can be confusing as hell, in a sense: but, when I went out to buy mine it was a 4-horse race. The SX-4, the Verna, the City or the Fiesta.

I test drove all four and settled with the Fiesta. The main reason when it came down to it? It felt better, drove better and was a drivers delight. It handled well, the engine while being perfectly silent when you first switch the car on was extremely lively when you pump the gas and the car dynamics seem pretty good(without being an expert myself).

Things I found on my test drives: If you're going to be driven around by someone else, the SX4 is probably the best bet. It's the smoothest drive of them all - you don't feel any bumps whatsoever, the suspension is outstanding and the engine is quite responsive. In terms of looks it's the flashiest of the bunch, the Verna is the mot sleek but the Fiesta has an appealing subtelty to it.

Ok, so on to the first 2 months and 2200 km of Ownership. The dealer - Harpreet Ford in Gurgaon. At the time of purchasing the car, I was asked to sign blank(without even the amount specified) loan papers, because I was financing half the amount using ICICI Bank(Harpreet's recommended bank). I found this extremely peculiar. I refused to sign blank papers and asked that he fill them up in full and bring them to me. He filled up the amounts and arrived several hours later(must be a slow writer). He was also surpised I was paying my share by cheque. Are cars ever bought on cash? Weird.

Regardless, the loan was finally processed and everything seems to be in order. The car itself - a Black 1.4 Petrol Zxi seems a reasonable piece. It handles well and it takes no time to be confident enough to pump the gas a bit.

I did drive up to the UP mountains on it and to be honest a few hours in it doesn't feel particularly comfortable, particularly if you're stuck in the back-seat. This is very much a city car.

It's been giving me about 11kmpl - less than advised but I'm reasonably content with that. By all accounts SX4 gives you about 9, so I'm happy with the extra 2 and it may get better after the next servicing I'm told.

I did go in for my first servicing and I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. Everything went quite smoothly. The servicing exec, John was very helpful and took care of my only complaint(alignment) to my satisfaction. The only peculiarity is that the fan occasionally stays on after the ignition has been turned off, but I'm told that isn't anything to worry about. It doesn't seem to have

had any adverse effects on the car.

That's it for now. I will write again once I have 10, 000 odd km under my belt. But, to anyone thinking about the Fiesta - first impressions would be that it's a very pleasant drive - though Ford India needs to get its act together in terms of their dealerships acting a bit more professionally than they currently do.
