Hi, I'm a student from Delhi and I have a budget of 1.20 lac, I'm getting a used aveo for 1.10lac. Its petrol, Cng was fitted but taken off, Its run is about 75000kms. I want to know what costs in servicing will come and also, How is the run in of the ar after 10 years as the car is a 2008 model. I really love the interiors, Suspension and overall build quality of the car.

Please help me out with the servicing and maintenance costs. I plan too use a good engine oil-Shell Helix.

FIRST, I OWN AVEO 2007 MODEL. I BOUGHT IT IN 2007. IT'S A GOOD CAR WITH GREAT SEXY APPEAL, GOOD SPACE IN TRUNK. INSIDE THE HOOD IS THE 1399 CC 16 V PETROL ENGINE. IT IS A SEDAN CAR AND 14 - 15 FT IN LENGTH. IT'S WHEELBASE IS LOW ACCORDING TO INDIAN ROADS.

TALKING ABOUT THE DEALER SATISFACTION, I AM VERY MUCH SATISFIED FROM THE DEALOR. TALKING ABOUT THE WHEELS, IT HAS 13 - 14 INCH WHEELS. TALKING ABOUT THE MILEAGE IT GIVES A MILEAGE OF ABOUT 14 KM/PL WITH A. C. IF SERVICING IS DONE IN TIME. IT'S COMFORTABLE VERY MUCH AS I TRAVELLED 400 TO 500 KM IN A SINGLE DAY WITHOUT TIRING. TALKING ABOUT THE SPEED, DUDE IT HAS A TOP SPEED OF 200 KM/PH ON DASHBOARD AND ON ROAD. I PERSONALLY DROVE IT AT A SPEED OF 200 KM/PH, WITHOUT ANY BUBBLING AND WITH FULL CONTROL.

TALKING ABOUT THE INTERIOR IT HAS VERY GOOD INTERIOR WITH A GOOD SOUND SYSTEM, A CIGAR LIGHTER, GOOD POWER A.C., AIRBAGS( DRIVER AND PILLION), GOOD DASHBOARD SPACE. IT IS ALSO OCCUPIED WITH ABS, AIRBAG, AJAR-AJAR, ADJUSTABLE STEERING, SEATS, POWER WINDOWS ETC.

TALKING ABOUT THE TRUNK SPACE IT HAS GOOD TRUNK SPACE OF ABOUT~400 L.

Chevrolet aveo is one of the best luxurious car I ever ride and aveo come with very powerful engine with great mileage. aveo is look like very sporty and rich car . when we go inside and feel so comfortable when we sit . and aveo drive is very soft and handling is very nice very specious and nice boot space incide the car aveo is come in just petrol version bcose Chevrolet manufacturing aveo only in petrol version. aveo come in 1399 cc engine with 94 bhp @ 6200 rpm and the best part aveo give 14.49 kmpl .

This car is not comfortable for driving on the road. Its a few features are good like a inside good space for comfortable sit and three person are easily sit backseat. But its a mileage is around 10-12 km per litre which is not good then others car. This car has not good pick up and all features. Its a maintenance is very costely by other cars. And its look not to very attractive and nice. This car engine is very hot for few time and I tried without pressing on driving. This car doors are very heavy, we needs an very effort to open. So I dont like this car

Hi,

I bought Chevrolet Aveo LT 1.4 ABS in 2012. Vehicle was maintained by company workshops since its purchase. driven for 28000 kms in four years.

This time, it went for normal servicing to Nikhil auto at Mumbai and I was handed over a quotation of Rs. 82000.00 and I was told that suspension and AC is faulty requires major repair.

It made me understood that life of Chevrolet vehicle is only four year or 28000 kms which ever is earlier. This  car is single hand and very less driven.

My wife owns an Alto and same is eight years old and completed 85000 kms, however, still running good.

I thought of upgrading to Cruze but now it is out of question. Service is very bad at company workshops.

I'm planning to buy used Chevy Aveo LS - 2006 model, singly owned car. CNS fitted in 2010. However I'm bit skeptical about the spares availability & maintenance cost, so from last 2 days I'm surfing the net to read reviews about the same.

Most reviews(apart from Mouthshut) are negative about the car; however on Mouthshut there are mixed blend of reviews which still didn't clear my purpose since:

• Most reviews are from people who have bought new car & reviews were written within 1-2 years, normally within this nothing happens to the car, apart from your cursed.

I'm an immature driver & have limited budget of 1L to 1.5L, this would be my first car. There is no preference of getting a hatchback(WagonR) or Sedan(AVEO, Accent etc).

My driving would be limited to weekends & that too within the city. I hardly may go to nearby city. I want something to accommodate my family of 4, low on maintenance.

I was totally inclined towards 2004-05 WAGON-R since it is tall & heighted, low on maintenance, parts easily available at reasonable cost, all mechanics know to repair etc & may fulfill my requirement of a family car(within my budget).

However yesterday I saw a CHEVY AVEO LS, & I was amazed with its contemporary interiors, the dash board & its inner feeling. Its was a 2006 model with CNG fitted in 2010. Mileage of 69000 kms till date, single owner etc. It has some work since one of the rear tail light needs to replaced, A/C needs some repairing(only blowers worked yesterday but it wasn't able to chill) & some minor denting-touch up etc. Most importantly cost; around 1.1Lac.

My questions are:

[1] Is it advisable to buy 2006 Aveo?

[2] If yes, at what cost should be a good deal?

[3] Is it easily repairable apart from'Authorized Service Centers'?

[4] Can we get it spares at reasonable cost? Let it bit 15-20% above maruti spare cost, tht sud be ok with me

Suggestions & Advices from all, especially AVEO's owners who are using / driving the vehicle since 6-7 years would be welcomed, since by now they might have come across  different situations / problems.

Again, I do not have any special liking for Sedans / hatchbacks only because I'm low on budget, my purpose is to have a car, which is economical in driving & maintaining, I believe  Wagon-R answers all of them; however the only thought which runs in my mind since yesterday is "If you can get a good sedan at 1.1L, then why u wont to buy hatchback at 1L. Why not treat yourself & your family with luxury, plus it is CNG hence cost-effective too."

A bit of a background: I had purchased my Chevy Aveo 2yrs back, on a second hand deal. A 2006 model, basic variant. It was company maintained(good) and had just crossed 45000kms when I bought.

And now my readings are close to 63000kms. I predominantly use the vehicle for long drives. City rides are done by call drivers(My parents use it!).

I have changed to CEAT tyres(Mileage model), a little oversized, maybe this affects my calibrated meters. That's ok for me. It is a sturdy vehicle in terms of both engine response and body rigidity. For a layman comparison, it just as good to say that this is a "new generation ambassador." U can find a gliding sense when u cross the 2000rpm till 5000 rpm. I had touched close to 160 kmph on a highway with much of an ease, I love this car for its maneuverability at top-speeds.

The doors are bit heavy, needs quite an effort to handle. The comfort levels for the passengers are good wen compared to any equal sedan of this class.

The biggest issue lies in its mileage.

1.City conditions - 9 kmpl to 10 kmpl.

2.Highway conditions - 13 kmpl to 14 kmpl.

3.Again the maintenance is a little costly & small glitches do occur. But as you go for critical parts the spare prices are skyrocketing! Better do preventive maintenance.

4.Ultimate bottom line-

"A classic travel companion but not your regular (daily use) mate!"

The chevy Aveo is sure a style icon similar to old gen Honda city.

The bow tie logo makes it notable.

The rear tail lamp is partitioned in a special way that it gives an phenomenal look for the back portion with the Chrome strip lined perfectly.

Ground clearance is really good.

CONS

No fog lamps for the lower versions.

Uni beamed headlamps.

Bulky rear  portion.

Interior

PROS

Good finish with dual color.

Rotatory ac vent.

Visible cluster for driver even at day time.

Neatly arranged ac control.

Simple and best.

Rear legroom.

CONS

No chrome lining

Dash reflection on front wind shield

A/C throw.

Performance

Peppy engine up to 120km/hr

No engine noise even at idling

Solid response at 2nd and 3rd gear

Car turning radius is small compared to other cars in this segment

Breaking feels little unsatisfied (change the disc calibers)

Fuel consumption good (had a drive from chennai to Cuddalore- 180km with the tank filled just for rs.600-petrol)

Gives good mileage with max speed of 90-100 and if crossed the limit the mileage drops to 15 km/l Chevy aveo The good car with low marketing by chevy and a car that has to driven by all.

My Letter to GM as usual no action: This is never ending story of writing you mail about problem with my car. This mail is again about problem with my Chevy Aveo which is in bad condition from the start i.e the day I purchased it. This is about the Aveo performance with AC on specially in very hot day. In summer, as soon as I switched on the AC, car's dynamics changes drastically and lot of vibration and shaking in the steering wheel, it also hesitate to move specially in bumper yo bumper traffic. As per my observation problem got worse on the super hot days, don't know why. I thought either the GM put the substandard parts or defective car is sold to me (You can check my service history to believe me).

I told this thing several time to GM dealer Aravali Motors in Gurgaon and even today I visited the them and requested to look into the matter, they took the problem promptly and discarded it same manner after 20KM of test drive with excuse that we can not help you in this as this problem is with each and every Chevy Aveo (I think that's why sale of aveo come to mere 70 units per month ).

Then I took third person opinion by visiting the workshop near to my office, they found problem with the AC compressor bearing. They told me AC compressor bearing is jam so engine has to do some extra effort to revolve that bearing (seems logical).

I also raised the same problem at public forum but no one looked into it.

Please do not force a person to sell off his car in this way who have invested too much. I need that some one from GM with sound technical expertise look into this problem and resolve it. I again request you please do not forward this mail to some other dealer unless and until someone from the GM is not looking into it.

I loved the car when I first had it. And today, after nearly three years, I feel this was the biggest mistake I made.

If you are in Gurgaon(like me), then you are stuck to a service centre called Aravali Auto. This is arguably the lousiest service centre I have ever come across. And mind it, I had seen some really lousy ones. They are probably the only guys in today's world who DO NOT provide pick up and drop service.Even when you have a breakdown, they do not provide any service except giving you the telephone number of some mobile crane hire company! And once your car is in their workshop, be ready to get treated like dirt and get fleeced.

The service guy does not give any commitment about when the car will get repaired. He also expects you to call up the insurance surveyor and co-ordinate. Once the job is done(you will have to call up on a daily basis for this and lose temper a couple of times), heaven help you if you have opted for a "Cashless" insurance. You will wait for ages as Aravali will claim that they have not received the approval from the insurance company. You will virtually be running between the devil and the deep sea and consider yourself lucky if you can your car back in less than 2 weeks time.

The car itself, per say is decent. The only problem is it's shock absorbers(both front and rear). Within 3 years, both had to be replaced. Chevrolet, very graciously, changed them for free in my case but later I checked and three of my colleagues seem to have the same experience. Makes one wonder if there is a design issue or a quality issue in this. Rest of the stuffs seem to be good but I, personally, would have preferred little more pickup at lower gears.

Spare parts are bloody expensive and there are no outside mechanics willing to touch this car. So at the end, the maintenance cost can only spiral upwards.

Mileage is around 10 - 11 km/l in petrol which is not great by any count.

On the whole, skip buying this car unless you only care about driving comfort.

I have a 2008 1.4 LS Limited Edition model, done 58000 km.The car is very good. Excellent mileage Iam getting around 11-12 km in city and 14-15 km in the Highway. Lot of space inside and the dash board looks classy resemblance to Mercedez Benz. The car has all the features, for a very basic price, compared to other cars in the segment. Driving this car is a pleasure especially long trips.

The car has excellent pick up and AC. The build quality of this car is excellent.The rear seat is spacious and 3 persons can sit without any discomfort. The company fitted music system is excellent and sound quality is very good.

The car has to be serviced as per the company instructions.  Compared to Maruthi the maintenance cost is on a higher side. But in terms of ride quality and comfort, this car is miles ahead of Maruthi cars.  I am completely satisfied and recommend this car as a value for money car.

When I bought this Chevrolet (1.4 LS Limited Edition) from a Hero Honda Employee, I had in my mind the glorious past of General Motors. After reading the reviews, I feel, I am in same boat. Whenever the service is due, it is most traumatic to me because these service people believe in changing all the parts without even seeing them. Labour bill is exorbitant. After servicing I end up spoiling my mood for a week at least. Infact Maruti is number one not because of advertising, it is because of customer mouth referring. Now I am in a fix, If  I think of selling this car, I am getting nothing. I genuinely advise to readers don, t go for this brand. Following are the problems I am facing.

1. Servicing outside is not possible.

   
   




2. Spare parts are not available and very expensive not suit to Indian mentaility.

   
   




3. If car breaks down, no Mechanic is ready to touch it.

   
   




4. Service quality is very poor because of no competition. Outside option is not available, that is why monopoly is there

Exterior - Good looking exterior

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) - Good looking interiors

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

Initially its a good investment but develops a lot of problems after 3 years. Each time the car goes in for a service after 3 years, you can expect a bill of about 20k regularly. Plus issues like Alternator malfunctioning (new one costs 23k+ and repair about 11k in Authorised Service Centre), AC compressor honking off (New AC compressor even from a local guy will cost about 15k and repair about 11k. So you can imagine what it'll cost in the Authorised Service Centre) and a whole lot of other issues.

Maintenance is so expensive and problematic that you will wish you bought a Maruti Sedan!!!

Ride Quality & Handling

First 3 years great. However, while it has a "Power Steering" it is a hydraulic one, unlike the touch power steering of Honda and Hyundai. Not great for our Indian Roads!

The Fuel Economy also drops drastically after 3-4 years...

Final Words

There are a lot of choices in the market now for good value for money sedans.

I wouldn't suggest buying any Chevrolet, due to their really poor level of 'service' at the Authorised Service Centres. Expensive spares and maintenance make you wish to sell out and buy a new car of another brand but. Resale value is also amongst the poorest so you are left cursing your decision to purchase a Chevy. Would be much better and more economical to go in for a Honda (despite the higher initial price) or a Maruti or even a Hyundai. Stay away from American Cars.

Areas of improvement

Change the Service Centre Franchisees to improve standard of services.

Bring down cost and availability of spares in the market.

Electronic Power Steering.

Improve quality of AC... Plus there is always a major drag on the engine when the AC is turned on(even when the car is new). This needs to be improved.

Already recommended the car to a friend who bought it too. Anyway, I'm here as I wanted to know what spark plugs I could use as the service station I went to said they will use "champion plugs" as they are factory certified. I wanted to use a bosh or a high end plug, also would I have to change the plug wires if I used the bosh plugs?

My car's mileage is under 9 km/lit, gears most often used 2 , 3 and occasionally 1. Is that normal? Would appreciate if you could let me know about the plugs and the wires change if needed.

If you look closely all of the bad reviews for this vehicle come from outside North America. I have had no problems so far and I purchaced it used, this is my first car and I am very pleased. I think people are just compaining because of some sour grapes.

GM's service is great, no complaints at all, I challenge anyone to prove me wrong, this car is economical and very friendly to use. I drove 2000 kms on about 1 tank of Gas. What do you say about that?
