Sony DSC-T33 Reviews

Ranchi India
Object of desire.. Get it and flaunt it
May 31, 2006 04:04 PM1553 Views

I got this T33 @ 16000/- in May 2005 (last year) at Kolkata. I put a 256 Mb card immediately to expand the storage. Since one year has passed since I bought this one, I think the review now is more honest and not written in excitement.

Well details of specs are available on net. I would stress on ease of use and potential of the camera.

First thing that attracts is the slim and curious looks. At first I thought it is a cigarette case. The lens though small is extremely powerful and has very very good colour balance. A Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar is the ultimate ! Sony cameras are famous for natural colour capturing. Capturing and recording a video is very easy and doesnot need a Rocket science degree. Quick last photo view and still photo managing is also very nice. Ergonomics are good. I observed that new model T7 has keys on the left side and LCD on the right which I think is specially made for Lefties !!!! But T33 has certainly better layout. LCD is good and does not fade out under Sun. Features are in a truck load and if you go through the manual, you find that this camera is a full fleged studio in itself.

Zoom is effective but 3x optical is ofetn a limitation in outdoor shooting. I would love to have same camera with 6x zoom optical.

Other limitation is the flash which work wonderfully within 10 feet but fades away beyond that. I think this is good enough for this size camera.

Connectivity with other multimedia like TV, PC etc. is very simple. Uploading and downloading is quick. Photo editing assistance is good. Though I feel there are much better software avaialble for editing.

All said and done A SONY IS A SONY.......

Posses a JEWEL
Aug 04, 2005 01:03 PM2303 Views

Dear friends,

This is my first review on mouth shut other then movies.

And I am very happy to write this review on one of my most lovely possessed Gadget ''SONY DSC-T33''.

I recently got job in Singapore and this was the first electronic gadget I purchased.

I tell you it’s really a JEWEL.

First thing what I like about it is its SLEEK.

It is one of the latest in ULTRA Compact series of camera.

I m so happy that I posses it.

Let’s get into some features of the camera

The most noticeable feature on the DSC-T33 is its large, 2.5-inch color LCD monitor, which takes up most of the camera's rear panel. Though small, the Sony DSC-T33 doesn't skimp on features, offering a 3x optical zoom lens with a range of focus options, a 5.1-megapixel CCD for high-resolution images, and a host of preset shooting modes and exposure options.

The Sony DSC-T33 is equipped with a Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar 3x, 6.7-20.1mm lens, equivalent to a 38-114mm lens on a 35mm camera. (A fairly standard zoom range, going from an average wide angle to a good telephoto.) Normal focus ranges from approximately 1.6 feet (0.5 meters) to infinity, with a Macro setting that lets you get within 3.25 inches (8 centimeters) when the lens is zoomed to its wide angle position, and 9.8 inches (25 centimeters) at its telephoto setting.

Basic Features

1)5.1-megapixel CCD.

2)2.5-inch color LCD monitor with Transflective design for dramatically improved visibility in bright light.

3)Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar 3x zoom lens, equivalent to 38-114mm on a 35mm camera.

4) Maximum aperture of f/3.5 - f/4.4, depending on lens zoom position.

5) As much as 6x Precision Digital Zoom, and as much as 12x Smart Zoom.

6) Full Auto and Program AE exposure modes.

7) Shutter speeds from 1/1,000 to one second.

8) Built-in flash with four modes.

9) Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick PRO Duo image storage, 32MB Memory Stick Duo card included.

10) USB cradle included for easy connection to a computer or television set, USB and A/V cables included.

11) Power supplied by NP-FT1 Info-Lithium battery (supplied) or AC adapter (via USB cradle).

12) Pixela Image Mixer software and USB drivers included for both Windows and Mac platforms.

Special Features

1) Movie mode with MPEG VX Movie option for continuous recording at 640x480 pixel resolution. (Requires Memory Stick PRO Duo.)

Magnifying Glass, Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Landscape, Snow, Beach, High Speed Shutter, Fireworks, or Candle exposure modes.

2)10-second Self-Timer for delayed shutter release.

3) Picture Effects menu with Sepia and Black and white effects.

4) Macro (close-up) lens setting.

5) White balance (color) adjustment with six modes.

6) Burst, Multi Burst, Auto Exposure Bracketing, and Speed Burst record modes.

7) Multi-Pattern and Spot metering modes.

8) Sensitivity setting with three ISO equivalents (100, 200, 400) and an Auto setting.

9) Five-area Multi-Point auto focus with Spot and Center AF modes, as well as manual focus zones, and an AF illuminator.

10) Single and Monitoring AF modes.

11) Automatic Noise Reduction for longer exposures.

12) DPOF (Digital Print Order Format) compatibility.

I bought this camera for nearly 17500 INR but this price is worth it.

I looked all the features of it. It is easy to use, even a novice can use it with perfection. And Picture quality is awesome. I recently hot some snaps developed and I couldn’t believe they are taken by me as I don’t know much about photography.

The Camera comes with following accessories

The 5.1 effective Mega pixel Cyber-shot DSC-T33 camera

32MB Memory Stick Duo card w/adapter

NP-FT1 rechargeable lithium-ion battery

Battery charger / AC adapter

Cyber-shot Station camera dock

Tripod adapter

Wrist strap

USB cable

A/V cable

CD-ROM featuring Sony Picture Package software, Image Mixer VCD2, USB drivers, and Cyber-shot Life tutorial

Camera manual

The only thing which bothers me about the cam is for connecting the cam to PC we need to plug it into Cradle provided with the cam as well as for charging it.

But one will forget this after seeing the great performance and battery life.

Battery life of the cam is too good.

And good thing is it comes with 32MB card. But I can bet u have to soon upgrade it to much higher capacity as u wont be able to stop taking snap from this camera.

Hey Even my pic in this profile is taken from this cam only.

One who looks for the size of cam must go for it. It’s worth money.

Remember it’s a Jewel.

That’s it for now.
