I wanted something to capture my life and my parents' lifestyle and my brothers banter for as long as live and beyond. So I zeroed on handycam to capture and save the entire breath of experience - at home and outside. Sony Handycam is extremely user-friendly. I was bowled by the experience of useing it for the first time. From the time you open the package to insert the cassette to the time you view it on the televison and the PC, you will not stop wondering what more it can do. Usability The handycam is very handy to hold and the color LCD display is very attractive.

The handycam is moderately user friendly as you have to open the LCD panel to get the tape to rewind or to get to the next recording position. Video capture Picture quality is very very good but still images are pathetic. If you are looking for dual use of video and stills then this handycam is not for you. Digital zoom is effective till only some extent and the picture quality deteriorates exponentially. The auto focus and automatic back light adjusting features are amazing.

PC software shipped with the camcoder does not allow the video to be saved on the disk unedited!!!! The available options allow some wierd mixing and special effects but no ''save as is'' option. you need to compulsorily write it to a CD to have teh original video. :-(. Seems one has to buy a pixar package to do that. Accessories The handycam comes with cables for connecting to a TV/VCR, a USB cable for PC, charging kit, remote ; a trendy bag and 1 Di8 tape cassette.
