I am very happy with my new Eonon radio G2240! I have installed it and everything seems to be working fine! Even the Bluetooth works and the sound of everything seems to be very good! Really love it!

My budget was then around 12000/-. I wanted to buy a good digital camera. My priority was 8 MP & 8X optical zoom  lens & HD video recording. But when I went to outlets I found no product around my budget with those feature's found only Intel Pocket Digital PC fulfils my priority at a extra premium of 2500/- on my budget. Although I bought this model because I got 12 MP, 24X optical zoom & RAW video recording with my other priorities & an additional free tripod. After using my camera I found the still images are quite good & best still images are come out after using the tripod.i enjoying taking pictures on manual mode. But I found no photo editing feature in it and also some memory cards doesnt support it.. The manual guide book is very less informative. The camera is bit bulky, & because of four nickel pencil batteries this camera become heavier.the battery life is also poor...

Intel has introduced several models in web camera category. Intel Pocket Digital PC Camera is the latest one. This is the most versatile web + digital pocket camera available in the market. It is a PC camera but also can be used as digital pocket camera for outdoor photography.

Technical Specification–

Dimension – 70 mm x 107 mm x 35 mm

Camera – In-built Flash Light, easy to read LCD panel to select mode, long enough USB cable for easy installation, Tilt-swivel base, Tripod socket, Frame rate up to 30 fps for full-motion video, Automatic exposure, white balance and color control, Convenient snapshot button, 4 AAA batteries included.

Memory – 16 MB internal memory. There is a slot for SmartMedia card for expandable memory.

Lens – f 2.8 / f 8.0 – two apertures

Field of view – 50 degree diagonal, 40 degree horizontal 10 cm to infinity is the focus distance

Video - Record up to VGA 640x480 using PC supplied software, Indeo 5.0, i.263 and .asf video compression, Save as .avi, Record up to SIF resolution (320x240) with audio away from PC.

Storage capacity - Approx 60 seconds per 16MB of memory

Picture - Capture 1.3 Megapixels (MP), XGA (1024x768) or VGA (640x480), 24-bit (16.8 million colors). Save as .jpg, .bmp or .fpx

Maximum number of stored images - Each 16MB of memory stores: 256 Normal quality (640 x 480); 96 High quality (1024 x 768); 14 Super High quality (1280 x 960)

Minimum System Requirements as recommended by Intel:

Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition (SE), Windows Millennium Edition, Windows 2000, or Windows XP (Professional or Home Edition) PC with 266MHz Intel / Pentium processor with MMX technology or 300MHz Intel / Celeron processor or better. Universal Serial Bus (USB) port is required. 32MB RAM (128MB recommended for Windows XP and Windows 2000), 800x600 display, 16-bit color, 350MB available hard disk space, 4x CD-ROM drive, Windows compatible sound system with speakers and microphone. Higher configuration is always better.

Interface – Universal Serial Bus

The overall performance of the PC Cameras is better with greater processing power. According to me Pentium III & 128 MB RAM is better.

Intel supply required software in CD with the camera. Features like videophone, photo gallery, snapshot, audio recording, auto snapshot, Email postcard, picture manager etc are included.

Battery Life - The battery life depends on how much you use the camera and the use of flash. Intel claims thousands of images w/o flash but I have to check. So far taken about 150 photos with the first set of 4 AAA batteries and used flash whenever required.

Some useful features –

Like any other normal small camera one can use it for outdoor photography, away from the PC without any cable connection. It has a flashlight so indoors photography or photography after sunset is not a problem.

One can use extra memory card to store more pictures. Memory can be expanded by 32 MB / 64 MB or 128 MB. (No personal experience)

Photographs may be downloaded to PC with the help of Intel software and deleted from the memory of the camera. These photos can be edited after downloading to the computer.

Software provided by Intel or Microsoft Photo Editor can be used. MGI PhotoSuite 4 SE software (included in the package) is good for photo editing and one can have lot of fun by using its special features. After editing you can take out prints by any good colour printer. Or take the pictures in a floppy and get printout from any photo studio.

It has some limitations like the older version and some of these are as follows –

  1. It is not very good for outdoor photography especially for landscape.

  2. Requires four AAA batteries. Power supply of desktop or laptop does not support it. Adaptor also cannot be used.

  3. Video photography is possible but has limitation. 16 MB memory can store only 60 seconds of video.

I got it from Dubai as I could not find one in Mumbai. Using it since last three months mainly for outdoor photography. It’s very easy to use.

Because of small size (KB) of the photographs compared to that from the scanner, it is very easy to send by Email or making presentation.

I cannot paste any photograph here but I can send it by Email if someone (let me know your Email address) is interested to see the quality of the photographs.
