Don't trust LAHARI Group

LAHARI Group is a well-known name in real estate and resorts business in Hyderabad. Generally I have been happy with LAHARI Resorts - in terms of facilities, value for money and service provided - situated on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
However, the group's (especially LAHARI Homes, until recently a part of the group and promoted by the same owners) professionalism has always raised question-mark and the way the LAHARI Homes has treated the customers (house-owners) of its independent-villa ventures at Kondapur, Hyderabad amounts to complete cheating and high-handedness.
The project was marketed by LAHARI Group (represented by Group Chairman) in 2003-2004 as a secured gated community of 30 luxurious duplex houses with its own security, park, clubhouse with gym and library, telephone, internet and intercom facilities among many others.
The project was to be completed in 18-24 months. Well, the project never got completed and some of the owners had to take possession of houses in semi-complete state in late 2007-2008. Some of the houses are still not complete.
The builders did not even complete 30% of the common facilities they promised. The house-owners had to spend anywhere from 5Lacs to 10Lacs on their individual houses due to unfinished business of the builders. On top of that, the owners had to pull in about 15 Lac of contributions to develop some of the common facilities to make the colony worth a decent living.
There are consumer court cases pending against the company. However, the builder did not stop there. They have erected unauthorized shades in open areas at the colony and are housing some of their people causing inconvenience to the residents.
The concept of gated community now has gone for toss in their books. They are now building apartment complex in the land adjacent to the colony where the access is through the colony. They broke open the gate and are not stopping from harassing the residents through a combination of rowdyism and movement of heavy construction vehicles through the colony.
Even though owners requested them and found an alternate route for their construction vehicles to bypass the colony, they would not do that. It has put the small children in the colony at risk apart in addition to the inconvenience being caused by the construction vehicle.
While I had regard for LAHARI Group and it's chairman, the way the group has handled the LAHARI Homes project and the way they are manhandling the house-owners of their own venture is at-best a shameful act and is clearly has caused major dissatisfaction to its customers. LAHARI Homes promoters do not have any professional or work ethic. Decency and Customer Service are alien words for them. I would personally avoid any LAHARI project going forward.
