Triumph Rocket III Roadster Reviews

Have had mine for 8 years
Jun 26, 2023 09:29 PM 114 Views

And almost 50k miles the maintenance has been very good. Tires, Oil Changes, brakes is mostly it.

its a big bruiser of a motorcycle not for the faint of heart it demands a lot from the rider- not a bike to begin on although I did it somehow and never dropped it. Its more of a sport bike really than a cruiser you can tour on it but because of the riding position, lack of 6th gear, no cruise- its best in town bar hopper. I got mine brand new for under 13k

I am so impressed. what is truly impressive is the massive engine. It boasts of figures which are quite hard to match. The 2.3 liter 3-cylinders are longitudinally mounted inside the twin spine frame. All of the 22.5kgm of torque is produced at 2, 750rpm, and a maximum power of 146bhp is delivered at 5, 750rpm. The enormous fuel tank holds 24 litres of fuel. The seat is set quite low and one would expect nothing but that the motorcycle is solidly built.

Triumph Rocket III Roadster

The Triumph Rocket III is the largest production motorcycle from the iconic British bike maker. Launched for the global markets in late 2004, it was brought to the Indian market in its latest avatar late last year as a part of Triumph’s presence in India. The Rocket III is named after the BSA Rocket 3 which in turn was also called the Triumph Trident.

The Rocket III’s most noticeable feature is its massive size. The rider sits behind most of the engine into a seat that sinks low into the overall design. There is decent amounts of chrome all over including the twin pod instrument gauge as well as the 3X1 dual exhaust pipes to give the bike a premium feel.

The Rocket III is powered by a 2.3-litre three-cylinder engine that produces 146bhp and 221Nm of torque. It has been mated to a five-speed sequential gearbox which sends power to the rear wheel via shaft drive. It is underpinned by a tubular steel chassis with USD forks in front and five-way adjustable twin spring shocks for the rear. Stopping power for such massive machine comes courtesy 320mm dual floating discs in front and a single piece unit 316mm unit in the rear.

MODELS:

Rocket III

The original model was released in 2004 and has remained in production with only minor modifications other than a change of engine colour from silver to black in 2005. This model was awarded Motorcycle Cruiser magazine's 2004 Bike of the Year, Motorcyclist's 2004 Cruiser of the Year, and Cruising Rider magazine 2005 Bike of the Year.[12] This model is the newest exhibit at the UK National Motorcycle Museum.

Rocket III Classic

Introduced in 2006, the Classic version has rider floorboards, different shaped silencers(mufflers) and'pullback' handlebars. More colour choices were added and the pillion seat was modified to improve comfort. In June 2007, Triumph used'viral marketing' to promote the Rocket III Classic by posting a well-made spoof production video to YouTube and bike enthusiast websites,[13] As of September 2012, the video had more than 1.2 million views.[14]

Rocket III Roadster

The 2010 Roadster is the most powerful bike in the Rocket III line-up, with a claimed 163 lb·ft(221 N·m) torque and 146 bhp(109 kW) power, as well as a dual exhaust, one per side, instead of the previous 2 and 1 layout. Triumph calls it "the ultimate muscle streetfighter".[15]

Rocket III Tourer

The short-lived 2007 Tourer Limited Edition Model was just a Classic Model with the addition of a windscreen, panniers(saddlebags), backrest and luggage rack from the factory, and a choice of two-tone paint schemes

Rocket III Touring

Triumph began developing the Rocket III Touring version in February 2004 following the launch of the original model, to target the large cruiser market which represents 50% of all US motorcycle sales.[16] As well as a new design for the steel frame and swinging arm, the Touring model has more torque at lower revs – 209 N·m(154 lbf·ft) at 2,025 rpm, but less horsepower at the top end. New features include tank mounted instruments and a scrolling switch on the handlebar to set the clock and indicate fuel ranges.[17] The five-spoke design used on the Rocket III was replaced with billet aluminium slotted wheels and narrower tyres were specified to improve steering with a 180/70 x 16 rear tyre to make it easier to fit detachable panniers that come as standard, together with a removable windscreen and Kayaba rear shock absorbers.
