Kinetic Zing Reviews

This is the BEST

If you are living in an urban area - a city or a small town, what do you need from your vehicle? AFter having owned a Kinetic Zing for six months, I think it will satisfy all your needs. Here is my experience with it, pros and cons. (Actually I bought it for my younger brother so its based on his inputs).

Comfort - very comfortable- surprisingly large seats and footboard space for a small scooter.two can sit easily.

Convenience - as with this segment - electric start and gearless smooth transmission is great for city riding

Mileage - Zings lightweight structure means it gives great mileage - my brother gets between 50- 58 which is great for him because his pocket money is not very high

Performance - surprisingly peppy for a small scooter. Way ahead of other products like TVS scooty or Spirit. Excellent acceleration

STorage space - absence of a glove box. BUt underseat is good, can fit a helmet.

Looks - trendy, cute, modern, unisex. I like its looks.

Other factors - generally easy to manouever in traffic, solid brakes, good suspension, quick handling.

Overll verdict - its not as luxurious as say a Kinetic nova (which I own and is spectacular) but for less than 25000 rs, the Zing does a great job of one's around-the-town travel needs. Excellent value for money. So far entirely reliable.

Really cool scooter!

Hi all

i thought my first review can be about my favorite possession in the world - my own set of wheels! As you know, ones vehicle takes a prime place in one's life. I got myself a Kinetic Zing about six months ago and I take it with me everywhere I go. I need it for my classes, tuitions, and to go out with my friends -for movies, picnics, etc. so I would be totally lost without it.

When something takes such an important place, it must be fully reliable. I am happy to say that my Zing has been really serving me well, I have not had a single cause for complaint - there has been no repairs or maintenance. Its very hasslefree.

The Zing also does very well on pick up and ease of riding. I sit on it and I go. Its as simple as that. It has very good pick up and can zip about just fine. Its also comfortable to sit on and to ride. Very smooth. Its lightweiht and I can manouever it easily, and park it easily on the main stand. (I was never a fan of the side stand so it helps to have easy main stand parking).

It also looks cute, and young. Not boring or old types. It suits my personality well, and I am proud to be seen on it.

Finally to all us students, money is always an issue. It was a good thing for me that the Zing is the most economically priced two wheeler around. AT 24,500, it was easily affordable to my parents. They were happy and also bought me a nice watch with the money they saved. :)

Also, the Zing gives me good mileage (55 kmpl or so) so I cna easily manage petrol costs within my pocket money.

Overall, great vehicle for us college going students. Takes care of all needs - like image, ease, pickup, storage, mileage, low maintenance etc etc

THE ZING THING!

This is my first review on mouthshut. but I have been visiting and reading other people's reviews. In fact, when I was considering buying a new scooter for myself to get around town, I read the reviews of Kinetic Zing on mouthshut. They all sounded very good so I went to a local Kinetic dealer CMPL Motors to check out the Zing.

I immediately was taken in by the looks of the scooter - the colors were fresh, the shape of the vehicle was modern and youthful, even the decals etc were very cool. I knew rightaway that this is a scooter I wouldnt mind at all being seen on. Not girlie looking, just cool and young looking. the other scooters like TVS scootie look very old fashioned and actually downright ugly if you ask me. Bajaj Spirit is okay looking but very sluggish.

Then I asked for a test ride on the Zing. Believe me, I was pleasantly surprised by the acceleration from this little scooter.. a small twist on the throttle and it took off with amazing alacrity! I made my girlfriend sit on the back and took the Zing up a slope to check out its power - and we went uphill very easily and quickly. I was very impressed. The seat is generous and footboard space is good so you can sit easily and comfortably. Two can seat easily.

The braking is good, storage space excellent, side stand etc convenient.. and the price was mindblowing - only 23000! thats much less than any other vehicle.

Anyway so I bought the kinetic Zing, its been 4 months, and its been fabulous. The mileage is good - 55 kmpl or so (which is good since I have limited pocket money and dont want a gas guzzler), its been very handy to go to classes and out with friends etc, its been entirely problem free (but then its been only 4 months).

Now my girlfriend bought one too. So I got in red and she s got in blue!

I want to thank mouthshut and its writers for the reviews which directed me to this great scooter. Otherwise I may have bought a TVS scootie or some stupid thing like that... and regretted later.

Thank you!!!

Not Much Zing

We bought a Kinetic Zing last week and ever since we bought it its been one helluva experience. Right from the showroom (where the zing looked all dusty and used) to the time we tried to start, everything put us off.

  1. The engine gets rich very soon and the smoke that it generates is seen to be believed.

  2. The kick start is placed rather awkwardly with very little space to actually kick it.

  3. The headlights are not quite powerful.

  4. The indicators are weak.

  5. The indicator switches are also awkwardly placed.

  6. The absence of a front guard is a huge minus.

  7. The side stand spring fell off within an hour of getting the vehicle home.

My new best friend!

Hurrah! I am out of school and now entered college (11th std at Symbiosis in Pune).. its great to be done with uniforms and daily strict attendance.. its great to make new friends, I feel like my whole life is now ahead of me, and I have the freedom to shape it into what I want from it... what I want to do make my life is a wholesome mixture of work (studies), fun, friendship and family obligations. My faithful companion in my new life is my recently purchased scooterette from Kinetic - the Kinetic Zing. It has become my best friend, quickly. I cannot do without it. It is very reliable, low maintenance, doesnt drink too much petrol so its affordable.. it gets me where I want to go quickly (engine is very very zippy and acceleration pick up is amazing); smoothly (generous seats, good size footboard for comfort, good storage space underseat and glove box pls my handbag can sit on the footboard); and its fresh looks with nice colors make me feel confident. It captures the spirit of my youth, my student life.. it has added more than a dash of Zing to my life...

Must have for today's college students. Specially the girls.. be free, be liberated, be independent... and embrace all that life has to offer you!

Pretty Young Zing!

Of the various two wheeler categories in the country, one of the most useful but probably least exciting segments is the ''scooterette'' segment - the hitherto kingdom of TVS scooty. For the past many years, the boring, borderline ugly scooty has held fort, with other competition not able to make much dent in its dominance. I have been so disgusted with this archaic vehicle that everytime I see one on the road, I have to look the other way. But now it seems Kinetic - the big boy of the ungeared scooter category has thrown the gauntlet at scooty with its peppy fresh Pretty Young Zing!

I even like the cute and catchy name of the scooterette - Zing, it rolls off your tongue nicely and stays in your mind. Similarly, if you see the vehicle, it will make an impression that is not easily erased - its cute, sporty and a breath of fresh air.

Okay, its not the most powerful or revolutionary scooter you will find - if you are looking for the same performance as the near cult Kinetic Honda delivered, you are going to be disappointed. Its 65cc, top speed of 60 kmph and by no means a mean machine. But it packages the requirements of this category very neatly - it has a trouble free electric start, (gearless) variomatic transmission with the Kinetic smoothness stamped all over it, quick brakes, solid suspension, good enough pickup, high degree of comfort, decent amount of space and also 60 kmpl of mileage. And the best part is that it is priced at over 3000 Rs less than a scooty. So its what you want to call - Easy on the Road, Easy on the Eyes and Easy on the Pocket!

Test Ride

Guys, this is my first review on MS. Yours comments are solictied :-)

I had been to Meghdoot Motors, Trinity Circle, Bangalore, to check out on the new ''Kinetic Zing''. Guess, it's only about a month old in the B'lore market.

Even though it was for my wife, I decided to take a good look at it before I gave my feedbacks way back at home. Our other options were TVS-Scooty-ES, Bajaj-Spirit, considering the fact that she needed it to commute between office and home which was about 5 kms spaced and just for some freedom from me and independence :-). Oh, women love new things around them all the time.

I was greeted by a pretty lady at the showroom and told me about the technical aspects, which are not that outstanding, but it suited our requirement. The normal tech specs of 65 cc engine and 3.6 bhp@5500 rpm

and a mileage of about 60 kmpl. Phew, the petrol prices have already shot to the sky(sky is not the limit?). The looks(of Zing ofcourse) were pretty good(elegant), some resemblance to Bajaj-Saffire and Nova ofcourse. I developed a sort of attraction towards it(is this what you call .. love at first sight?). I was offered a test ride so sweetly that I just couldn't refuse it from her. This was the first time in my life .. at a showroom

that I took a test ride. The electronic start-up felt ok and the engine was virtually soundless. I rode a couple of kms on the airport road amongst the traffic. The road was pretty smooth to feel or was it the good shock-absorbers, I really do not know. Being used to a ''Kinetic Honda DX'' for 7 years and now a ''Hero Honda Splendor'' for the past 3 years, I found that the Zing was a just a pony and not a horse, as the max-speed is only about

60 kmph. The pick up was ok but the response of the throttle is better in the TVS-Scooty. The horn was decent enough but the indicator switch is badly placed. The choke lever is over sized and spoils the appearence. The speedo-odometer panel is simple and could have had some more meters(fuel gauge?). Took some sharp U-turns and surprisingly, it was well in control and the usual ''kkkaaarrrcccc'' of the main stand of a Kinetic was absent.

Oh gosh, did I take the left or the right U-turns ???.

I checked the space below the seat, it's just enough for a lady's average sized handbag to fit in. The fuel tank has a 4 litre capacity(oil+petrol mixture) with 0.8 lts as reserve.

I feel that Kinetic should provide the bag-hook atleast if not the side-stand as a part of their standard-equipment. As yet, the inner-basket is not made available in the list of accessories, but provision of 4 threaded-holes have been made on the Zing frame. The leg space is roomy and one can sit comfortably. The seat too is large enough and the pillion rider has enough room for himself.

The braking system is good and sure enough in case of emergencies(remember to apply both brakes simultaneously).

The tyres are wider than that of a TVS-Scooty and seem to be stronger compared to the Bajaj-Spirit too.

Overall, I found Zing to be good and promising and in my sense of understanding, this was well suited for my lady and I did recommend it to her. Another add-on is that it is priced about a Rs.3000/- less than it's appropriate competitors. On road here in B'lore, one would land up paying around Rs.26000/- (including necessary accessories). I believe it's worth a buy.

Yehi hai right choice baby !!!
