This is the third Scoterette I’m reviewing after Kinetic Honda DX, and TVS Scooty. There is not much of a difference in these three except engine displacement. I would say the power is better than Scooty and mileage is better than Kinetic. I have been mentioning the usage of the bikes from time and again. Still I think I will give a quick word on the utility.
When you choose Scooteretts one thing you must have in mind is it is not for long drives across the cities. They are specifically designed for commuting in a typical Suburban or a big city like Pune for instance. The reason is the engine power and mileage. With a mere 72 cc engine it is impossible to climb slopes with someone sitting at the back seat. Also the mileage around 45 kmpl isn’t going to help either. From the strangeness point of view they are fragile, delicate like a marine Sponge. This one’s a weird analogy with a horrid exaggeration but I hope I’ve conveyed my point.
One major positive that has come across me is the cost of the Scooter. The showroom prize is around 25K compared to above 30K of Scooty. Design is very sleek and sort of Aerodynamic. The bike comes in black, red and white color. The one I drove was a red colored. What makes this bike better than Scooty is just engine power? Compared to 65 cc of the former it has got a slightly better displacement of 72 cc. This is not going to do a world of good to the speed thriving maniacs but at least a smile for a descent driver. Maximum speed of the Scooter is just 45 kmph. This is really embarrassing if you’re used to Fiero and CBZ. You would rather prefer a multi-geared Hero cycle to it.
I don’t mean to hurt Pride fans but they could have a improved a bit in this department.
One reason why they kept it low would be the instability or wobbling at high speeds.
Kinetic Pride is a 2 stroke Scooterett with a mileage around 45 kmpl in new condition. Along the time period of few years it has reduced to 30 kmpl. With this kind of features Kinetic Pride manufacturers make sure that the owner is at least left with an Empty Pride if not the Pride. It doesn’t have a button start. Maximum power at 6500 RPM is 4.5 bhp. This can me a much-awaited relief. To add to it has a sound ground clearance and Maximum torque.
Fuel tank capacity is average 3.5 liters with 0.7 for reserve. A glove box is provided in the handle part for keeping small valuables or say driving document. Scooty has a space for helmet under the seat. Suspensions are very good with Hydraulic damped mono for rear and usual telescopic for the front. Maintenance was not a problem with the bike apart from normal serving visits to the dealer. I personally wouldn’t insist you on buying it but wouldn’t deny its existence either. You better have a test drive before making the final decision. I’m just a messenger. Its you who have to walk through the door.
