Kawasaki 4S Champion Reviews

My champion !!!
Dec 15, 2008 04:31 PM 13866 Views

I am so happy that am writing a review about my bike. My uncle bought the bike in 1995 and now he is in abroad. He let me take his bike and oh my God!!!

What a splendid bike I have got !

Excellent control and comfort I have experienced in these two years. Even now as the Pulsar mania dazzles the city, my bike is unique. On the flip side, I have not checked the mileage till now. Have to check it . I think it gives around 40-50 kmph. I enjoy every ride in it and love to self-drive it. It has not given me any kind of problems till now. Be it the rain or heat.

I have driven it at a top speed ( for me ) of 70 kmph and is easy on highways.

I feel this is the best bike suitable for city roads with wonderful efficiency. The short size of the bike is easier to move in a zig-zag way in traffics. The gear changing mechanism is excellent when it comes to high speed. With 13 years of completion, my Kawasaki Bajaj 4S champion is smooth on roads and not yet given me any kind of problems. I feel this is the only bike that can withstand for many years. So sad Bajaj has stopped its production.

The only thing that irritates is the silencer sound. My bike has seen three highway stretches and countless long drives. In fact, I have rided it more than my uncle.

Even if I get another bike with technical aspects, I would never forget to ride in this bike often and would love it forever.

Truly A CHAMP!

It's really a champion Bike I have ever seen.I'm riding this bike from the year 1993.It was my first bike & still I'm riding on it.He is my best friend as all of us know " A friend in need is a friend indeed", he has always been an outperformer.I don't remember even a single day when I've not enjoyed riding it.It has always provided me stunning performances and truly thrilled my life with joy and happiness. My bike is my first LOVE as it has always given me what I wanted, be it about mileage, or comfort, it has always provided me the best .It has always provided me a true riding pleasure.

Bajaj must improve the braking system of this bike as the brake shoes get worn off very often . And of course It's look must be improved so as to compete with its new generation counterparts.

But still as the name sounds a CHAMPION in 4s catagory, it is still a forerunner and ofcourse a true champion.

4S was my first bike, which I purchased in 1995 at the age of 27.  After learning to ride a bike at the age of 14 on my Dad's Rajdoot, I had the chance of riding Yezdi, Bullet, Yamaha RX 100 and TVS Suzuki before I settled down for 4S.  The main reason for chosing 4S(eventhough I was mad about Yezdi and Bullet) was its price, fuel efficiency and low cost of maintenance.  My savings from the seven years of job could fetch me only 4S at that time.

Well, for fuel efficiency - for the first 5 years, she was giving me around 65 to 70 Km/l.  I never compromised on regular maintenance and that too ensured that it was done at authorised Bajaj Service Centres.  My yearly outflow for maintenance of the bike was approximately Rs. 1500.  For the past 7 years, she returns me 45 - 50 Km/l.  But my average speed is 55 - 65 Kmph.  Whenever I tried to run her in 35 - 40 Kmph in the top gear, she had returned excellent efficiency figures.  Even last month, I could squeeze out 65 Kmpl when run in that speed range.  But then, driving her always in that speed range is not possible as I always leave home just 10 minutes before my train timings(mind you- my station is 8 Km. away from home - a habit I swear to change from the next day before I go to sleep daily - but alas! next day, the same routine.).

Her looks  were attractive when I bought it, but now a days, after seing lot of sexy new bikes on road, I just have to turn my head back at her and wonder - whether she is good looking or not? (Just like husbands envy a newly married man)  She doesn't spot an alloy wheel, disc brake, etc., etc.,  But altogether, she is pleasant looking.

Riding comfort - I can give her only average on that aspect.  My back aches when I drive her more than 50 Kms. at a stretch even in good paved highways.  Handling & Control - Again average.  Have to be very careful while cornering curves, as she may topple over you, if you don't control the speed.  I had a fall from the bike at the second year of purchase - I was cruising at a steady speed of about 70 Kmph on a highway and suddenly there was a pothole of about 1 feet depth in the middle of the road, which I couldn't avoid.  The bike hit the pothole and was thrown in the air for about 7 feet high and we both were rolling on the tarmac.  Luckily, as I was wearing a helmet I am here today writing this review and was escaped with minor bruises.  Her clutch lever and gear shift lever were damaged apart from a broken headlamp.  So, bikers who enjoy riding a Bullet - 4S is not for you.

Reliability - She had never failed me in this aspect.  Be it rain or snow - She is ready at a Kick.  Never had she left me wondering in highways with a break down. Turn the throttle - she responds immediately.

The regular complaints I faced with the bike for the past 12 years:  Poor electrical connections.  Not even a single day had all the electrical accessories worked in tandem.  One day it may be the horn - other day it may be the indicator lamp.  Bajaj had improved a lot in this aspect from the 4S era - It can be seen in the new Pulsar series.

Summing it up, guys, she is a great commuter bike which doesn't drain your pocket perfect for the city rides.  Give her regular maintenance - she will be honest with you.  Only Bajaj had stopped the production of the bike - You can get her only in second hand market.

After riding 4S for almost 12 years, I have planned to purchase my dream machine  - A  Bullet Thunderbird. Just waiting for the launch of Thunderbird Twin Spark model.

I have purchased 4S-Champion bike in 2000. My bike is completed 90000 Km. before 1 months I have changed its Piston (only). My bike is my second love. I never change tyre during my bikes 90000 Km. ride. I am thank you for Bajaj Co. for this bike.  I can run 100 Km. without any stoppage in present condition

I was pleasantly surprised to read the review of the old 4S, when so many new bikes are there. I have been using the bike for about ages now, about 9 years and its reliability and low maintenance cost has really been astonishing. I for one do not take...

Its really odd to write a review on this bike. But the bikes performance over the years I have used prompted me to write one. Its nearly 7-8 years since I brought this beauty. The ad for this during its release had a tag line - ’’the 0% maintenance bike’’....

Thanks

A reliable, dependable and great bike
Sep 18, 2007 05:35 PM 9414 Views

I purchased my Kawasaki Bajaj 4S Champion almost 10 years ago, and what an enjoyable decade it has been, riding together. Me and my trusty 4S, the bike that has never failed me even once in this entire time. We have been through a lot together- 70, 000 kms+ to be exact on every kind of road, from 4-lane ultra modern highways {Indore to Dewas} to the well-tarmac-laid roads ofJabalpur, Raipur, GE Road {NH 6} kachha roads of Dewas, Dhar, { MP }  Mau, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Basti, Maharajpur and Ballia disricts { East UP}!

To cut the story short, I have put my poor old bike through hell in terms of the work load I have made it bear, and it has delivered on each expectation with flying colours:

  1. I have taken it on long journeys with my wife as pillion rider {Indore - Sanawad - Indore 70 kms, Mau - Gorakhpur - Deoria  - Maharajpur 512 kms etc}, as well as single {far more than I care to recall over 3 states and umpteen districts}!  On each of these journeys, I have not faced a single breakdown. Only punctures!

  2. I have kept it without service for unconsionably long periods. No problems at all.

  3. I have ridden on the most kachha roads {pagdandi of indian villages during rural sales},  and the vehicle has performed very well

  4. The average per working day load on my trusty bike from 1998 till 2004 was 175 to 200 kms. Since then I have changed industries, so instead of per day it has gone down to a few times a month. But whenever I go out it is nowadays 150 - 175 kms

  5. No major work since puchase. Only an engine overhaul last year, which was purely voluntary. No other attention on service

My obsevation based on the above:

1) Riding: Very comfortable over long distances. I never had any back-ache or weariness because of the bike over these past years. I have also ridden splendour over long distances, and this bike compares favourably with that superhit model from Hero Honda

2) Suspension: Considering the kind of roads that my poor old "gudia" has been riding on, very good indeed. It does not have fancy settings that are advertised today, but it delivers- and that is what counts.

3) City Riding: Not as good as Yamaha RX 100 or Hero Honda CD 100. But comfortable nonetheless. Overall stability is good, takes tight turns well, has a balanced centre of gravity

4) Speed: Average. Definitely not for speed demons. Average pickup. But I have regularly driven at 80 - 95 kmph {75 - 85 on national highways, 85 - 95 on 4-lanes}, even with a pillion rider on long drives

5) Fuel Consumption: Better than average. 1998 - around 2004: 65 - 70; 2003 to date: 55 - 60 km per litre {now city riding has gone up, so average has gone down {this is with ZERO service}

6) 10 years later it is half kick start 12-months a year. Just depress the kick,  and you are off!

I have decided to buy a new bike on 2 occasions- but cancelled each time, as I cannot bring myself to sell off my lovely "gudia". Aaaaaaah.... the memories it brings back to me! The lovely lonely rides as a bachelor through picturesque environs of various and sundry states, the freedom, roaming! The grand togetherness of riding with my wife through village fields of Eastern UP and the rolling hills and lovely plains of Malwa in MP! The touching first rides with my son- I could go on and on.

And you know the secret?

Service? HA! I already said it is ZERO. Even MINUS. Only 1 overhaul in the past 2 years

Then????

Quality? Well, yes, to a large extent

But there is more... Oh, yes. Much, much more.

No rocket science. Just a few simple points...

and they are:

1) know your bike, what it is capable of and what it cant do

2) Adequate rest {yes, even for a bike. After a tough ride, dont be in a hurry . Let it cool off for a while}

3) Dont push it beyond its' limits. While I have ridden fast, I never did so for hours on end. Whenever the bike began vibrating, I rolled back the speed.

4) I only rode as fast as the road allowed me to

5) Quality fuel: refilling only from the best pumps. Nowadays, only premium fuel. It is worth it

6) Top up on oil always. Keep a regular check

7) Whenever a sound emanates, get it checked. Usually, it will be a small thing like a loose chain, and can be easily repaired. If not repaired, these things develop into major head-aches!

8) And of course: TREAT IT LIKE YOUR FAMILY MEMBER. This may sound quaint to you, but it has worked for me, and how! Touch Wood! How do you do it? read below:

9) Single hand riding, wiping plastic parts everyday, and points number 1 to 7 followed regularly

I was pleasantly surprised to read the review of the old 4S, when so many new bikes are there. I have been using the bike for about ages now, about 9 years and its reliability and low maintenance cost has really been astonishing. I for one do not take too much care of my machines/gadgets, so when my father gave me the keys of the bike about 9 years ago, therein stopped the regular maintenance enjoyed by the bike.

Well it had a incredible power at the lst gear and I used to regularly practice doing wheelie on the bike; once actually I overdid it and my friend who was sitting on the back was suddenly  jerked flat on the road, and the front wheel pointing skyward. Well at those times I still used to service her about once a year, the only thing I used to do more or less regularly was oil change, and the break pad lining change. Well about fuel efficiency I cannot really comment much except that from the start we never used to get more than 50, and about 5 years back the speedometer broke down and I never cared to check.

It has been about three years since I have serviced the bike, the battery is gone, the indicators out , there is a tear in the rubber hose that connects the carburetor to the engine, but my god it has never ever failed to start once, never ever stopped because of a mechanical/electrical problem (except for running out of petrol few times - my fault), and requires so little attention and gives so much more. About four years back when I joined my company, there was an introductory session about quality; and everyone was supposed to say their perception of quality; at that time I told about my bike, my perception product quality , is  like how my bike is engineered , it just goes on and on. Even now after four years I still commute on it , every day about 20 kms, and every day I think of buying a new bike once this breaks down ( I have a stack of Overdrive magazines piled up beside my bed), but I am pretty sure my  dear little horse will go on strong for another 10 more years...

Its really odd to write a review on this bike. But the bikes performance over the years I have used prompted me to write one. Its nearly 7-8 years since I brought this beauty. The ad for this during its release had a tag line - ''the 0% maintenance bike''. It has really lived up to its promise.

Overall the performance of the bike is uncomparable to any bike in the present market. The mileage of this bike is astounding. My travel distance is about 16-20kms per day and I put petrol for Rs.50 i.e 1.05 ltrs, once a week!! I couldnt believe it at first and started to calculate the mileage daily and it gave me a remarkable 80-90kms/ltr. What else do you want!!!

I was planning to buy a new bike and having second thoughts now. How to leave a bike that gives such a good performance. It needs some maintenance now after 1-2 years.

The main drawback is the performance during heavy rains. Being in Chennai, the recent rains brought the bike to a stand still. The electricals got messed up and the bike did'nt perform well. Had to put it in the garage and use another bike.

The riding comfort is excellent and smooth. But the bike struggles when we go for doubles on the bridge. Good stability in slow speeds. Even in 3-4 gears we can ride slowly in traffic.

Overall this bike is excellent. It's a masterpiece and doubt that any other bike will come close to this performance in the near future.

Kudos to the Bajaj Team!!!

A true champion
Apr 20, 2005 06:19 PM 10103 Views

It is perhaps a bit surprising to read a review on 4S Champion, an almost obsolete model, when people are writing reviews on Discover, Pulsar, etc. I am writing this review after using the bike for nearly eight years. I saw a lot of comments in the other reviews of this bike, which actually prompted me to write on this. Others have described their own experiences, most of them are not so pleasant. So I am also writing my own experience.

I bought this bike in 1997, the early stage of four-stroke 100cc era in Indian market. This was one of the best among the available models. The other models available that time were Hero Honda CD 100 and Splendor.

It is a very basic model, but truly a champion, as far as performance is concerned. If you want a pick-up of 0-60 km in 5.6 sec, and top speed something 100-110 kmph, this is not your bike. As far as style is concerned, this is quite simple looking and not a head-turner. But if you maintain the bike properly, it is an excellent piece of machine.

I drive at 30-40 km speed (I do not understand how people ride at 70-80 km in city riding conditions), at top gear as much as possible. The engine is smooth like butter, with a fuel-efficiency close to 80 kmpl. Sometimes I got 82 kmpl also, but usually the efficiency is consistent in between 77-80 kmpl. I take it for servicing twice every year, and that?s all I do for it, and it has never betrayed me on road.

Engine servicing has been done once only, after seven years, when I got the piston ring and the engine valves changed. Apart from that I had to change the clutch plates couple of times, brake shoes twice and of course one set of tyre-tube and battery, which is quite normal in eight years span. That?s all.

The sitting position and balance is so perfect that I take sharp turns at 30-35 km speed, without changing the gear. I have developed a habit of riding constantly at 4th gear at 25km speed, so I do not slow down or change gear at pot holes or bumpers, but the suspension of the bike is strong enough to handle all jerks. Well, the shock absorbers are not so comfortable like the latest models, but it is not bad. The bike is rugged enough to handle rough road conditions.

Overall I am satisfied with this bike. Remember, all the new models of Bajaj are basically developed on the success of 4S Champion model, the Boxer, CT100, etc. are just modified versions of the old Champion. It is sad that some of the customers do not get the expected performance, but to a great extent it also depends on how it is used.

This model is not built for tremendous pick up and high speed. Still, I have checked that it goes upto around 80km speed quite smoothly and vibrations are felt only after 60 km. I think if the other satisfied customers also put forward their experiences, the overall rating of this bike would be totally changed.

An Excellent Bike for real travel jerks!!
Nov 28, 2003 12:19 AM 9628 Views

Kawasaki 4S is no doubt an excellent bike but has poor design and is difficult to maintain. By maintain I mean that you have to really use it carefully so that it looks new. SOmewhat similar to the Maruti 1000. Use it for one year and it looks 5 years old!! The mileage is excellent and I even know of people have 4S averaging 90+ Km/L. But again, mileage doesnt qualify it as a good city bike. I would recommend a 4S to people who have to travel a minimum of 50+ Km daily and who ride the bike not more that 60 Km/H. 4S & Boxer were Bajaj's pioneer mid-segment products but I would personally suggest Boxer over 4S. According to me the best City Bike would be Bullet and the best village/Town Bike would be the GOOD OLD BAJAJ M80. I would consider M80 to be the most underrated of all vehicles. It is an excellent vehicle with good mileage, superb pickup, solid load capacity and can take the pressure of continious drives.

I don't think that anyone can make best bike except Bajaj. My bike is 4S Chmpion and lot of people told me and also I read at this website's review that this bike is not as good enough. But Freinds, 4S Champion is really a bike without maintenance. I am running it since 1998. I have taken the best mileage of 80 Km. per litre till now. Only once I spend a 3500/- Rs on Engine repairing. And only once I replace the tyres after the distance of 58000 Kms. Really a good byke with its limitations. Don't race in less gears and try always smooth driving. Just make proper oiling in engine and chain and use it without any more maintenance. I feel really comfortable on it specially its design is quite balanced. Your knees touch confortably its petrol tank withour any special width. Its make a proper style for riding on motor bike. Long seat is special characterstic which my wife like much then Honda. Really a useful and good bike but we can say unlucky.

4S Champ: For the Sissy or for the Sensible?
Oct 22, 2002 01:02 PM 12271 Views

If I had to write a review on the 4S Champion, which was the Bajaj Auto's Answer to the Hero Honda four strokers, I can go on and on. I never owned the bike, but know most of the flaws and nits in it. I apologise for comparing the bike with the RTZ, but as you would know by reading the review, There is a personal connection with it.

It so happened, when I went to buy my RTZ bike from the Show room, my best buddy also showed up, he was buying a bike of his own. My delight turned to disapproval when I saw he was going for the 4S - and I suspect he felt the same thing about my RTZ.

So right from the start (we were in college) we started telling each other about the poor decision that the other had taken in going for the bike. So over the next one year, He was nitpicking my RTZ and I was nitpicking his 4S.

First of all, It was all about power. I took vicarious pleasure in pointing out to my friend that my bike had 11.5BHP power while the 4S had only 7BHP. and it showed, in intial pickup the 4S would drag on and on, while the RTZ has left it far behind. Doing a wheelie in an RTZ was cinch, you cant do it in the 4S unless you have a pillion rider to tilt the bike back!

Not relevant, you might say , but it was relevant for us in our studentlives where our ego was as big as our heads and directly proportional to how fast your bike can go in races, or in its capacity to do stunts.

The 4S took ages to pick up momentum, and once you picked up speed, and somethign comes in your way (like a bus, or a speedbreaker), you have to start the process again. in an RTZ I would shift from 4 down to 3rd and pull away. In the 4s I would have to shift from 4th down to the 3rd and 2nd to pull the bike back into its previous momentum. It was very annoying in city traffic where you will have to come to a standstill every once in a while.

And there is something called Overtaker's confidence, While overtaking another vehicle, you find another dude coming in from the opposite direction, I had utmost confidence in the two stroker - all I had to do was shift into 2nd gear and I was damn sure I can overtake safely. The same confidence was missing in the 4S.

I did not like the look of the bike. The RTZ had this classic 80s stylish look. The 4s seem to come from the 70s. The 4s was much smaller, in height, in length , in wheel base , and in everything. The Tyres for example were a quarter inch thinner than the RTZ and banking during turns would give you some scary moments as the rear wheel keeps giving way.

After the huge petrol tank of the RTZ and others, the tiny puny petrol tank sticking out from between your legs would give any college guy a freudian complex on inadequacy (pardon the pun). The bike WAS Small in all aspects. The bike felt SISSY after the tough macho feel of the RTZ.

The Instrument console though good , was a dissapointment compared to others, the only plus point of it is the back lighting. There was no fuel gauge. and it lacked the Central Handle Lock cum Ignition that came in the RTZ. it had a seperate handle lock that is hidden away near the chassis - suspension joint.

I never figured out why after giving an ergonomics winner like the RTZ, the company went backwards to give the 4S. Maybe it felt the common public doesn't care about ergonomics, but only about fuel consumption - I have to agree with them there. The company service, as with all its models was lousy. The indian mantra holds good, find yourself a good mechanic and have peace of mind.

While I had enough nits to keep myself happy, my friend was also bringing out some valid points. He had a business mind and he would always point out his fuel expenditure to me - and I envied that. the fuel economy makes quite a difference when you are living on a student allowance of Rs 250 per week (in 1995). he refuels once every four days, while I do that every second day.

The Seat was adequately cushioned against the painful thin seat of the RTZ. No need for 2T Oil, for Engine and Silencer decarbonisation, no scope for fuel pump failures or engine seizing.

Moreover the bike was cheap. It was only a 1000 Rs costlier than the RTZ and almost 4000 Rs cheaper than the Hero Honda. yessir, he did have some good points.

And on long hauls, the four stroke engine runs 'cooler' than the RTZ's two stroke engines. Infact At top speeds, the RTZ engine vibrates like it is falling apart, the 4S engine is smooth and stable. I remembered one particular race, where I was holding the RTZ at 93kmph (against the certified speed of 95 in my users manual) and he was holding his 4S at about the same speed (against the certified top speed of 85kmph in his users manual!). All the time I was getting jittery, at the vibrations in my bike and the rising tachometer needle which was going in the red zone. He did not have any idea on his bikes engine. (He did have a chain timing rod failure after threemonths - cost him a packet!)

I never could understand it, four of my friends went for this bike, everyone's prime consideration was fuel consumption. But with time, all four disposed off the bikes , they were in jobs, earning fat salaries, and saving a few rupees in petrol savings did not have as much appeal as it did during our student days. For the same reason, today, I dont have any regrets about the RTZs fuel consumption. When you are earning adequately, you stop bothering about fuel consumption.

In the final reckoning, if you look at it, The 4S seemed an interim arrangement for all those who bought it. It maybe a sensible bike for the family types - the over 35 with wife and kids. But its a Sissy bike for students and young executives. So you have to decide what type of a person you are , the Sissy young or the sensible elderly.

Well guys as I defined for..

SIMPLE----- means it is not for those who are looking for style, but definately for those who want a vehicle with value for money........

SENSITIVE ----means dont put lot of load on it it is very sensitive so please only two average weight guys at one time......

SLOW------slow means drive easy there is no hurry and dont try to race as at high speed you may not be able to be stable.....

SASTA----sasta as you know in hindi means you will not get such a quality bike at such a low price eventhough the spare perts are also cheap and maintanance is very cheap in all very easy to maintain this bike.......

A JUNK FROM BAJAJ
Jul 19, 2002 03:56 PM 8550 Views

WELL THE REVIEW FROM SUNIL WAS PERFECT. HE TRIED TO SHOW HIS ANGER IN A FUNNY WAY BUT I CANT DO THAT AS I AM LITREALLY FRUSTRATED BY THIS MOTORCYCLE. I PURCHASED THIS IN 1998 AND HAVE SPEND OVER 25,000. THE AVERAGE IS NEAR ABOUT 45-50 KM/H BUT MAINTAINENCE IS VERY VERY HIGH. NO PICKUP. I HAD TO SELL THIS BIKE FOR 14,000 AND AM REGRETTING THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. SOMEBODY SAID HE HAD A VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE WITH THE BIKE BUT WHAT I HAVE SEEN AND EXPERIENCED IS THAT THIS BIKE IS TO BE USED WITHIN STRIcT PARAMETERS IF YOU DONT WANNA SPEND EXTRA. AND THE PARAMETERS ARE SUCH THAT IT WOULD BE BETTER TO dRIVE A CYCLE WITH GEARS THAN FOLLOWING THOSE.

The Lata Mangeshkar of Bikes
Jul 19, 2002 12:42 PM 13091 Views

With due respects to the melody queen, here comes a bike which I fondly call the Lata Mangeshkar, the melody queen of all motorbikes. Kawasaki Bajaj 4S C(rap)hampion. It makes the most melodious noises and has an inbuilt factory audio center which doesnt need any battery to function. It plays rock through rocking n knocking sounds of its engine, it plays bass through its seals n gaskets, nuts n bolts. And it starts singing on highway, and I am yet to find as to which part does that.

Following are the advantages of owning this 8th wonder of the world:-

(1) You can enjoy the benifits of a car at the cost of a bike.

(2)Drive this bike for 3 years and you can become a self made mechanic, as you shall need to work on this every alternate day, which is not affordable and hence you would learn some minor repairing techniques.

(3)The safest bike on earth. That is due to the fact that the speed at which it runs is slow enough to kill even an ant, so you and your targets are safe.

(4)Most Economical.Superb mileage, average. As after 3 years, you will rarely want to drive it, you will be saving a lot on petrol and gas.

(5)Gives you the power of an OWL to see in the dark as the headlights stop functioning after a brief period of time.

(6)It creates an awareness in you. If you are a person who is not aware of what Guarantees and Warranties mean, and how they work, you can become an expert on them driving this wonder for 2-3 years, cuz by the 4th year, you would have virtually claimed for every part in the bike except for mirrors and tires.

(7) Keeps you fit. After 4 years of owning it, you will have such a hatred for motorbikes that you will prefer to walk rather than drive this, so obviously you will be fitter and free from diabities and blood pressure.

(8) Breaks down often for reasons best known to the manufacturor. This helps in buliding your muscles and you save a lot of money going to a Gym for bodybuilding by dragging this bike with all your might.

These were the few of the long list of benifits of buying his bike. I am in process of exploring and I will update this forum as soon as I get get to know more. ..... Happy Driving.

PS:- I had to put this note after I read a few comments from the people who never faced problems which I had to go through for this bike. For those friends, c'mmon people, its my opinion, it may not be true for you. I said what was true for me. We all dont think alike, do we? If it works fine for you, good for you . May be I got the only faulty peice they made, but I paid for it and have every right to complain as a consumer....... cheers........

Value for Money

Well, I'm 18 and I bought this vehicle as it was cheap and gave a good average. Also heard that the parts would be cheap in case something needed to be replaced. As my earning potential is very low, I decided to go for a IInd hand bike ((4 year old; done 19,890kms)) with the above mentioned features. I got it in a very good condition and the engine was running like it was brand new. I brought it all the way from Dombivili to Bandra (Mumbai) and the ride was Very Comfortable for me as well as the pillion. The Bike felt comfortable even racing at high RPM's all the way.

It gives me an average of around 60-65kpl which is not that bad. My mechanic claims that tuning up settings will give a better average. that is still to be done. But I'm really stunned at the pickup and smoothness of the bike. I'll rate it very close to the Splendor. Yes, I'll agree that the looks dont match, but hey, for the price and parts cost, thats no problem.

I must say that is bike is not for Fiero and Yamaha lovers cos it does not have an <u>as good</u> pickup nor can it attain speeds like 100kmph. But why so much speed? Do we need it? Even if we touch such speeds, in no time, we're forced to slow down. The bikes comfortable at 75kmph, reaches 80 - 85 and MAY reach 90kmph.

So friends, if average cost effectiveness and no maintenance is what you are concerened about, the 4S Champion is the right bike cos all you need to do is to routinely service it and add engine oil as and when it turns black. All this done, I doubt it will ever give a problem

If you want power and have the money, Fiero is the right bike, but if looks Matter too, The Bajaj Pulsar is the Best. Stay away from CBZ's as you MAY regret it later.

THE MILEAGE KING I CALL IT.

I brought a 4s champion around 3 years back and the bike is still serving me very well . In 3 years not once did it break down . And believe it or not I have not yet changed one of the bulbs in this bike baring out the accident which made me change my rear brake light cover and bulb . And yes bajaj company should start improving its silencer quality because I have noticed a lot of torn silencers on bajaj bikes and even I had to get changed after a year I brought the bike . Well the mileage is what I expected 65- 70 KMS/PL . The company should stop making tall claims about 87 KMS/PL . Overall a good bike but not good for the highways the bike tends to shake when a truck or bus passes by at high speeds . But nowdays with the varity of bikes available I would rather go for a better looking bike rather than the old 4s champion look .Overall a good bike but needs improvement on looks power and handling.

Hi

Six years back when I changed my local job in Thane to a suburb Chembur in Mumbai nearly 20 Kms away from my town I was wondering how my daily travelling will be a pleasure or a nightmare.

I travelled by local train for nearly 20 days and really it was a nightmare, just to get down at Kurla Station was a horrible experience.

Came May 1st and by that time I had decided to buy a motorcycle for commuting daily. And it turned out to be a very right decision to buy a KB 4S Champion. What can I say about my bike. It may not be good looking but for service hardly anyone can match that is my opinion without any prejudice for any other bikes.

Within last 6 years I have spend only Rs.2000/- on maintainence that too on accessories and no major repairs.

Believe it or not it is still giving me an average anywhere between 65 Kms to 70 Kms per litre.

But I have kept it single handed. That is the key to the performance.

I would really like to thank Bajaj India Ltd to make available such a good bike for people of India and in the present screnario of rise in petrol prices I will recommend this bike only to anyone who is buying a new bike.

I have heard that this model is not available now, but if it is true there is an option of Bajaj Boxer only difference is it dosent have a battery which a champion has that is all.

Thank You in advance for reading this review.

Come on guyz .. do ya want more of these rummage vehicles around. SOmeone oughta tell the bajaj guys that these things are Fresh out of scrap yard. To tell you the truth I am the unfortunate fellow who has had to ride this vehicle around coz my dad bought this. Just one half years n already rattling better than a rattlesnake.

What do you tell 3 brake shoes in 1 1/2 years? If you thought thats bad, try this - clutch wire changed twice , chain changed once, complete engine tune up once, gearbox problems .... the list goes on.

Seriously this bike has nothing worthwhile in it. Nor does it give the claimed fuel efficiency. Claimed to give 80 it hardly gives 65. 99cc is not exceptional. In fact it sucks. Its hardly good enough for dubs. You can hardly reach 90 on this rickety thing.

My dad bought it coz it was claimed to be the best for long rides. But he's regretting it now. This thing just isnt stable enough at even rpms of 5-7. So you'll see that this isnt exactly what one would like.

For all those lucky ones to have not had the nightmare of riding this bike ''STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS AS POSSIBLE''
