This is not going to be any minutes of meeting of the 'professional business meet' at Chennai!! I just wanted to share what I felt about the entire event.
Getting straight to the point without mincing words, It was not the kind of meet I would have expected to be in. For me, a meet need not be professional. There need not be PPTs and a member from press is the least I would have wanted in the meet I would be in. And there is nothing I want to be as a proud MSian!! All I want is to meet friends!
And that was the best outcome of yesterday's meet. Met couple of friends and had a chance to make few.
I could see that there were some criticisms going around on the meet. Let me be clear on this before I proceed on to saying anything further: I completely appreciate all the efforts and time put in for the meet. it was a wonderful effort to get together and it was even wonderfulthat friends from Bangalore had come all the way. Kudos to all thosewho spent time organizing the meet!
Now to the real point, mostly reiterating from what I spoke yesterday. I did listen to everyone speak. But I am not sure if I was listened-to enough. So, a second chance.
Most of the members I met have great energy about being MSians. They feel its their own place and hence a sense of belonging. All these are not bad if it is just that. There were suggestions/discussions for things like 'ID card' from MS, etc., That to me was the height of it all. I repeat! MS is not a place where we make things happen. Things happen on Mouthshut if the CEO or the team wants it to!
'You make yourself heard' by writing mails to CEO etc? But how do you show support? Include 200 people on CC?? Mouthshut does not encourage that! If 500 mouthshut members does not want/want a feature on Mouthshut, it might still not crop up straight away or not crop up at all for that matter. And nobody can demand! To put it in other way, how can we demand? (And FYI, if big 'requests' does not get a response, we invariably start demanding. And Mouthshut has its own way to tackle demands).
I might not have put proper words to what I wanted to convey. But this probably summarizes that:
Best way to use mouthshut is, just make friends, write reviews and have fun. Do not take mouthshut so seriously! I mean it!
It is easy to chuck my views off and get on with the way you see Mouthshut. Even a thought of getting mouthshut management involved (in how you want the site to be) is a waste of time. There might be big hardships along the way as well! Senior (in terms of average experience on the site) members know! Others, please get to know! Those who are still the other-others, you will learn it the hard way! Peace!
Smiles,
Envyram
